2621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it a good time? on: January 13, 2017, 01:26:16 PM
whenever there is price drop there are only two scenarios:

1) things become volatile and continue to be that way, and it can even go lower. so buying is not suggested in this case

2) you see a bottom and a very excellent price to buy at, a price that wouldn't be possible without that drop. so buying is highly recommended in this case.

the scenario #2 is always followed by #1 and you should know that going down doesn't last forever because we are talking about bitcoin not a failed altcoin here.
2622  Economy / Speculation / Re: Right Time to Buy BTC on: January 12, 2017, 01:21:31 PM
Is this the right time to buy bitcoin? As of this moment, bitcoin is at $769, almost where it began to rise and went pass $1100.
So is the current value where it will stay on average? I mean it can go down or up but on average do you think it will remain close to this value? If yes, then I'd assume its the best time to purchase some bitcoin.
Your thoughts?

you should say what you want to do, as in what is your plan when making this investment. if you are planning on making some short term profit and sell as soon as possible it is different than if you want to make a long term investment.

for the later it is good for buying now, but for the former you have to be careful after you buy because price can go up or down in short term but long is sure.
2623  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase intends to become a digital currency company not a bitcoin company on: January 12, 2017, 01:04:05 PM
Coinbase intends on ratting out more of it's customers in the future like the KickAssTorrents owner.
What ? I am suppose to respect idiots who add ETH and not LTC ?
...
[I M G]http://i65.tinypic.com/2j5avtl.jpg[/img]

that was pretty funny.
but i gotta say, someone who is idiot enough to use a third party for his bitcoin wallet instead of running a full node or at least use a desktop wallet ....
and not to mention someone who is idiot enough to use a freaking US based service as his wallet... i mean they record and report everything without any hesitation, even if they say they don't they are reporting everything at least to IRS.

deserves to go beside Jail nigga and be cell mates.
2624  Economy / Economics / Re: What is going on, who is selling at these prices? on: January 12, 2017, 12:57:40 PM
I just dont get it.  Huh i have been in bitcoin since 2012 so i understand the ups and downs in price.  i have also been acquiring bitcoin since then.  but i just dont understand the how people can still be selling at below $800.

is it just people who are recent into the market ?  i thought it was abit early for ATH last week but i didnt expect a pull back to below $800.

what ya thinking?

in my opinion it is because how exchanges are like today.
there is an orderbook which is still thin and because of that a whale can cause panic and others join in when they see the opportunity and sell to help the panic then they buy back at the bottom.

you see, traders who are only thinking about more fiat love a volatile market and the more swings it has and the bigger they are the more they can earn.

if those who bought bitcoin stop listening to fake news and stop giving their coins to the whales buy orders price won't swing this much.
2625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will die soon if happen with every Bitcoin users? on: January 12, 2017, 12:49:38 PM
Sometimes it's because of double spend.
The best solution is to type this in google status coinbase
Hope this help.

what does anything you said have to do with anything else here?!

OP has a transaction that has a low fee (by the current standard of the fee market battle) and that is why he is getting a low priority to be included in a block.

you say two things here:
- double spend, has nothing to do with how slow or fast you get a confirmation.
- your red text of "status coinbase" show the status of the site coinbase which shows if it is online or offline! again has nothing to do with either double spend or with low fees and fast confirmation.
2626  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC ever reach 1000 again? on: January 12, 2017, 12:40:41 PM
back in 2015 when price was crashing to $200 and even once it went down to $170 everybody were desperate and thinking price can never go up again. i said it back then and i say it again here, it is just a hiccup, a bump on the road. we will get back on the real track soon, as long as regular holders stop giving their money to whales for free or whales feel like their pockets are full enough.
2627  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chinese Bitcoin Exchange Inspections Cause Price Drop and FUD on: January 12, 2017, 12:33:44 PM
we are the ones who are giving the news power, it really doesn't have that kind of power. if we stop clicking on the news sites which have crappy click bait articles they won't get as much traffic and the rank goes to places that have better honest articles.
and in time news like this that are fully FUD can no longer affect price at this magnitude.
2628  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin after decision China !! on: January 11, 2017, 01:41:50 PM
what's happen for bitcoin price after the decision china bank ? Huh Huh Huh Huh

"""The People's Bank of China published an announcement this morning that it will carry out site inspections on January 17 to check whether enterprises dealing in bitcoin have the correct licenses, have implemented anti-money laundering systems and whether there is market manipulation."""""

this has nothing to do with bitcoin or its price, it is regulation and it should have happened a long time ago, it is just bad timing. and it has been happening in the US and now it is happening in China and will continue in other countries.

whenever you do a business in any country and handle lots of money you have to be regulated and have license that is not a new thing and not a bitcoin thing either.

the fact that bitcoin price is going down is because there are many whales who take this opportunity to make a lot of money from weak hands.
2629  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the sudden fall to $700s after stable $900s? on: January 11, 2017, 01:21:29 PM
the reason is only one word: PANIC

there is nothing going on. the news you keep hearing is an exaggerated versions of what is happening like bitstamp being inaccessible or China banning bitcoin,...

people these days are so fast on clicking sell than they are on using their brains/
2630  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does anyone "Day Trade" Bitcoin on: January 11, 2017, 01:16:05 PM

an exchange is a place (a website) where you to exchange your money to bitcoin and vice versa. in other words sites that you trade on such as Coinbase.

the 1% is pretty high compared to other places. i am not sure about the exactly percentage of each of these places but you can check them out yourself. they are usually 0.15 to 0.25% for each trade depending on some stuff like the amount you have traded before, some places have a fixed percentage some don't.

Thank you.

I am looking for those "other places" you mentioned.

If anyone has a positive experience with one that pays quickly enough to do day trades, please, let us know.

here is a list of them: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/#markets
the famous places are those with highest trade volume (mostly bitstamp and bifinex).
and i don't know what you mean by pays quickly, you deposit an amount on the site (fiat or cryptocurrency) and then trade as fast as clicking can be. and withdrawing and depositing cryptocurrency is fast but money may take some time since it has to go through a bank
2631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make Bitcoin Mainstream Right Now! on: January 11, 2017, 01:08:35 PM
instead of all this and wasting money start a business with a lot less than what you are suggesting.
for example starting a website like Amazon or ebay is not going to const 100BTC but the effect of it can be bigger than any advertisement you can do.
2632  Economy / Services / Re: [BitBlender] Signature Campaign - Seniors and up (CFNP) on: January 11, 2017, 01:01:14 PM

Thanks for the payment.

just a reminder: please upgrade my rank in spreadsheet to Hero ^.^
2633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DOGE] Will history repeat again? MOON on: January 08, 2017, 09:25:49 AM
Doge was successful because it was an early one and it road the meme train which is now a popular internet trend, don't get your hopes up...

also i always like to remind people that Dogecoin has a couple of billion coins available which means a massive supply and in other words the current Doge price is even over-priced!
2634  Economy / Economics / Re: What influences the Bitcoin marketplace? on: January 08, 2017, 09:04:03 AM
The currencies of the world are affected by many different parameters such as politics, economy, wars. The value of the money also shows up and down according to these parameters.

What are the parameters that affect bitcoin?

all of these can essentially affect bitcoin price too.
we have seen many times that economy has had its effect on bitcoin when people started investing their money in bitcoin to escape their country's bad economy.

but the biggest effect goes to adoption. since bitcoin is still a new technology as time passes and more people start to find out about bitcoin, put away their fear and use their brain to see the benefits of bitcoin they start buying it and with a limited supply price will go up.
2635  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin exceed its all-time-high of almost $1300 in the near future? on: January 08, 2017, 08:58:24 AM
Just wondering what everyone thinks.
not so near but we will surely see $1300 and possibly a lot more this year.

Quote
We should keep in mind that the last all time high happened due to the Mt.Gox scenario (Google that if you weren't around at that time) whereas this current activity is, as far as we can tell unrelated to any foul play and is actually legitimate due to the current situations happening around the world.
i agree that things are so different from 2013-14 and the massive bubble we witnessed in bitcoin. and this time the rise took its sweet time before getting to the current price and since it has been strong it can not go wrong thing time around.

Quote
Personally I believe the main contributors to this this high are India (the uncertainty in fiat created from the govt abolishing all 500 and 1000 rupee notes in November) and China (you are only allowed to send $50,000 per year out of the country, now it's the new year a good amount of them are putting that into bitcoin via legal methods). If you look at volume/price graphs, it seems to correlate.
i say they both were effective but not enough for such a rise specially India since the trade volume on their exchanges weren't that high and only localbitcoins were reporting a rise in the volume (which wasn't considerable compared to others).
and that 50K limit in China i don't think is going to show its effect on "bitcoin price" right away because those merchants who want to deal with more than 50K are not going to jump into bitcoin as soon as they hear this news.

Quote
It's likely that this pump has brought in a lot of new adopters, so I think it's pretty unlikely we'll ever see the $600 range anytime soon if ever again. Personally I think the $800-1000 range is stable, but am expecting more craziness to happen before then (at least I hope).

What do you guys think?
well $600 is impossible, period.
the "dump" also proved this.

before the rise happened (bubble of 2016 $1150) price was strongly holding at $780 with a strong buy support. and after the dump happened price couldn't break $800 and that is a good sign.
another good sign is that price is currently at above $900 once again so the buy support is still there.
2636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If BTC hardforks, will we still have our btc on both versions? on: January 08, 2017, 08:45:27 AM
as long as there are miners mining both chains (forks) and nodes holding both chains they both will exist and since there will be two blockchains you will have coins on both of them.

and this is actually one of the reasons why consensus is 95%

for an example you can check what happened with ethereum hard fork, they did it without consensus and ended up with two chains called ETH and ETC with people having coin on both chains.
2637  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the minimum profitable price? on: January 08, 2017, 08:40:53 AM
if you are calculating things in general the math that xhomerx10 did is more or less true but if you are talking about certain farms specially the Chinese farms things are so different.
- Electricity costs you see on the internet is an average for average people  miners have special contracts with electricity providers which makes it even cheaper.
- the mining equipment is built in China, they have access to it directly and they also have special contracts to get them cheaper.

these two alone break all the equations.
2638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many % fee do you pay to convert to fiat? on: January 08, 2017, 08:32:37 AM
How much does it cost for you guys to convert to fiat, and is the converting process convenient for you?

I'm new to mining and over the past 3 months and mined about $500 of various cryptos. They are converted to btc on Poloniex, moved to Gemini, then converted to USD and withdrawn to my bank.
My bank fees are about 8% unfortunately. I'm in Hong Kong and have no easy access to US banks or btc to Amazon gift card services. Any tips on lowering these fees?

your best option is to find an exchange in your own country to exchange bitcoin/altcoins for fiat there because it will be easy and will be much cheaper than any other options.
since you live in Hong Kong you may find the Chinese board here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=30.0) more helpful to your situation since you can find others there.
2639  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Usage Reduce Demand Of Fiat? on: January 07, 2017, 12:53:20 PM
the demand for fiat will always exist as long as we are living in a country with a government and majority of its citizens using fiat. and besides the only place that i have been seeing people talk shit about fiat and banks is here and even those who do, are using both fiat and banks with open arms. so there really is no way to see the demand for fiat be reduced at all.
2640  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price up and down on: January 07, 2017, 12:37:04 PM
Anyone knows what month always bitcoin stabilize soI can buy more?
you can look at a chart and find that out yourself.
but as far as i can tell there is no specific month when it happens.
right now, wait for the volatility to stop and you can see an stable price again in a short time.
why would you want an stable price to buy? if you plan on hodling then buy now and if you play on day trading then again buy now! in both cases you can make profit!

Quote
Will it stabilizre in 800usd?  How many months?
i can only tell you that it will stablize somewhere between $800 and $999

Someone told me chineses control bitcoin price
nobody told you that, you read it on a topic or a click-bait-news-site. and what you read is called FUD
