3081  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DSH] Dashcoin (Cryptonote, automated source) on: April 21, 2015, 02:13:50 AM
i support reducing the coin supply to have DSH - BTC market.

dev, i suggest presenting coin reduction in a more easy to understand fashion...

10,000 to 1
1000 to 1

will make the total number of coins from 184.46 billion to? and how it will be implemented? if i have 10,000 coins, a wallet update will make my coins become 1?

in current prices where would that place DSH in BTC equivalent in satoshis (10,000 to 1 and 1000 to 1)

If I understand what is being proposed correctly the only change would be how the numbers are displayed. In the code and on the blockchain everything is stored in atomic units, and the number of atomic units in each wallet would not change, only how it is displayed. So instead of 108 atomic units being displayed as 1.0 coins, 1012 atomic units would be displayed as one coin (108 atomic units would be displayed as 0.0001 coins). This would be put the coin supply at around 18 million and in line with XMR, BBR, etc. (or BTC for that matter).

so that would make

10,000 to 1, 18.4 million and 1000 to 1, 184 million

if i'm not mistaken at current XMR market price

at 184 billion   0.00000016 XMR 0.00000000048 BTC-0.048 satoshi
at 184 million  0.00016      XMR 0.00000048 BTC---- 48 satoshi
at 18.4 million  0.00160     XMR 0.0000048 BTC-----480 satoshi

since i prefer 184M over 18.4M, the question i would like to ask from dashcoin community, is 48 satoshi far enough from 1 satoshi?

To those claiming Dash is "centralized on Evan" (which is actually a desperate attempt to use the word "centralized" despite not being applicable in this context): In this video Mike Hearn makes an excellent comparison between Bitcoin and Linux development, watch till 11:27:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=RIafZXRDH7w#t=632

linux is an operating system

bitcoin is a currency

Mike Hearn is saying if a group of people is in control things get done. that may be good for an operating system but for a currency i highly doubt that.

lets say you fucked up or got head bashed by ignition75, the operating system development goes to shit---> i moved to a better/another OS

lets say you fucked up or got head bashed by ignition75, the coin development goes to shit ---> investment/money/transactions.....it's gone!

if you disagree with my statement above, i dont care, but answer that simple question: what if evan duffield suddenly announces he quits the project tomorrow morning?

I'd go off and do something else.

This entire post is instantly exposed as utterly retarded when I present the only possible alternative it obviously implies:
"No one should be in charge of development. Cryptocurrencies gonna develop themselves hurr durr!"

You're a "special" troll, aren't you?

C-E-N-T-R-A-L-I-Z-E-D ...got it?

you can update dashcoin gui v1.1.1

just overwrite dashcoind.exe with version 1.0.3.387

simplewallet.exe remains version 1.0.2.358

gui is not compatible with latest simplewallet.exe version 1.0.3.387

the advantages of using GUI aside from point and click and transaction history is that your wallet can automatically update your balance account without refreshing even though the simplewallet.exe version is 1.0.2.358

how to withdraw money from a purse?
Score hanging all ...
Sorry for the English

are you sending coins to another wallet?

i noticed you are using comma " , "

i think that is causing the invalid amount error

PM me with your wallet address i'll give you 10M  Wink

Can you give me some... Grin

yup. 10M sent  Wink

bytecoin gui wallet looks good, feels good..we could use that too  Cool

Thanks for DSH  Smiley

I think the bitcoin gui wallet is still closed source.

bytecoin?

such a waste of talent with the 82% premine.

In IRC they promised to release sources in several months.

several months is eternity to crypto, command line is still sufficient for now

This pool not paid http://dsh.cryptonight.net/#

I CPU Mine on my little laptop for a bit of fun and can only dream about numbers you're showing in your screen capture!

I've been mining for a day or two at minergate.com because they've got a cool mining app which is dead simple, they pay right away after you send yourself your coins.

PM me with your wallet address i'll give you 10M  Wink

OK, thanks.

But what is 184.46 billion?

~184 Billion or 18,446 Billion

In my mathematics, 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 = 18,446 Billion

184 billion and 460 million

@ ciklop1974

you typed "dashcoin" for your wallet, that means you will have

dashcoin
dashcoin.address.txt
dashcoin.keys

i have the same issue with yours when i tried version 1.0.3.387 mine is version 1.0.2.358

i have updated to dashcoind.exe (1.0.3.387) but still using simplewallet.exe (1.0.2.358) because simplewallet.exe (1.0.3.387) just renames my old wallet files from

wallet.bin to wallet.bin.back
wallet.bin.keys to wallet.bin.keys.back

and simplewallet.exe (1.0.3.387) closes, maybe the new version requires me to create a new wallet rather than using the old wallet.

i'm using windows 7 64bit ....will play around this and make an update.

edit: new wallet automatically refreshes so there is no need for refresh command..my tutorial is for the older version, i will make a new one for the updated version.

tutorial in using CLI (command line interface) wallet
version 1.0.2.358 only

downloading dashcoin wallet will give you two files.

Code:
dashcoind.exe
simplewallet.exe

running dashcoind.exe and simplewallet.exe will generate log files, they contain history of everything that happened in those interfaces including transaction history(simplewallet.log).

Code:
dashcoind.log
simplewallet.log

running dashcoind.exe will let you synchronize to dashcoin network.
running simplewallet.exe will let you generate a wallet name (ex. wallet.bin) and the password for it

after generating the wallet you will have these additional files..always backup these files

Code:
wallet.bin
wallet.bin.address.txt
wallet.bin.keys

using the wallet, these are the basic commands that a typical user needs.

Code:
balance - shows how much dashcoins you have
refresh - refreshes your wallet to update balance, useful if you received or transferred dashcoins (through transactions or mining)
address - shows your address

sending dashcoins will use the transfer command like this

example:
Code:
transfer 0 D8yFneNkLn617zawXhdruwVQf8GWVdtgz4K3UnjqVXWH34hB4VMFU4U7QYzqvXbQUNDpSc4NmdHmT1Rc78wmPwV7VU2VNyF 1000000

0 - mixing count, 3 is sufficient to have an anonymous transaction

D8yFneN... - address who will receive dashcoins from the sender

1000000 - amount to send

sending dashcoin to poloniex.com to trade, requires payment id

https://poloniex.com/exchange#xmr_dsh

example:
Code:
transfer 0 D8yFneNkLn617zawXhdruwVQf8GWVdtgz4K3UnjqVXWH34hB4VMFU4U7QYzqvXbQUNDpSc4NmdHmT1Rc78wmPwV7VU2VNyF 1000000 -p 0eb4f7c85779f1344a27c031628f7b4b44971d85cbe81f8a5acf8b437c6f8aea

-p - payment id option

0eb4f7.... - payment id

Bugger! It just doesn't work for me.

If I run the GUI Wallet it syncs with the network ok. But sending coins to it does nothing. If I run the dashcoind it re-syncs again. If I go back to the GUI it starts syncing again.

I'm going round in circles here. Should both the dashcoind and gui be accessing the same wallet or are they just two different things created to increase my level of confusion.

Craig

i haven't used the GUI wallet. I've used the command line version ever since and i didn't have any problem, I'll post a simple tutorial in how to use the CLI (command line interface) later

I don't know, but there was an entity at least 9 months ago who was buying up coins, hitting numbers like pi 314159.... and I don't remember, the fibonacci sequence?  I can't recall.  But it's possible that this is the same account?  Anyone know?

it is mine  Wink
