3081  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Testnet Coins 1000 coins for 5 LTC OR 0.1 BTC on: April 06, 2013, 06:39:22 PM
I'm selling Testnet Coins 1000 coins for 5 LTC OR 0.1 BTC

Oh dear. Epic fail.
3082  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling 6.8 BTC For paypal on: April 06, 2013, 04:55:40 PM
I am willing to pay 10 gbp for 1 btc, cause the current price is overrated as fuck, and it will be worth nothing within 2 months.

That makes no sense. Why would you paid £10 for something, you reckon will be worthless?
3083  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: can someone tell me what the point of litecoin is on: April 06, 2013, 04:08:06 PM
To confirm the transaction on a block, it takes 10 minutes for BTC. For LTC, it takes 2.5 minutes - 4x the speed.

At the cost of 4x lower confirmation strength.
3084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 51% attack against Bytecoin imminent? on: April 06, 2013, 08:11:46 AM
I just noticed a checkpoint has been placed at Bytecoin's block 12305.

How does one set a checkpoint?

Hard coded into project code.

Will you take down the Euro as well?

I think it doing that itself without our intervention.
3086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is trollcoin (bytecoin) unwittingly the solution to bitcoins scalability issue? on: April 06, 2013, 05:48:59 AM
I see OP's argument, interesting idea. It's a bit like what Intel and AMD did with there processors. They had trouble with heat problems getting a single core over say 3/4 GHz, so they went wider and added more cores. This multi-threading comes at the cost of addition complexity of course.

Perhaps that's the way Bitcoin needs to head. Get the blockchain wider by using more blockchains, not stuffing more transactions into the same single chain. Maybe the blockchain will eventually spawn a new blockchain automatically when it detects being overloaded; multi-threading itself.

This of course will bring it's own huge design and programming problems. But then again, Bitcoin was never going to be an easy project to begin with.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the 'Development & Technical Discussion' board?

3089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much premine was in the SpamCoin I mean ByteCoin on: April 05, 2013, 10:47:10 AM
the premine was kinda "hidden"....

what I heard was that reward for first 1000 blocks was 5000, then 500, then settleing down to 50... no one except the developers got in on the early early coins i believe... but i'm going off memory here and don't have time to find posts atm, but it in the Bytecoin main thread

Who told you that rubbish?

Just check the Bytecoin blockchain to prove this incorrect.

no no no
Like computer RAM
1 GB = 1024
4 GB = 4096

If someone says 4k, is it 4k or 4096 coins they owe us? Cheesy

Actually you mean Gibibyte (GiB) not Gigabyte (GB).

GiB = 1024
GB  = 1000

http://prntscr.com/z6xcz
Very confused now...

Well there some info on it here:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibibyte
But you'll find plenty more if you Google it.

Buying 4k Bytecoins for 0.4 Bitcoins. PM me. Ill send first to reputable forum goer.

There are 8 bits in 1 byte. So lets aim for 8 BTC = 1 BTE.  Cheesy

btw, these 4k Bytecoins are 4000 Bytecoins or 4096? Smiley
I see what you did there lol
I think 4000.

4000BTC per 1BTE. Jesus!

Looks fine to me. You haven't found any blocks yet because your hash rate is quite low.
You might be better off pool mining.

I think it's safe to say there is no interest.

So it's just a bitcoin clone? nothing changed?

Cryptocurrencies are now a way to earn money trying to scam, instead of improving the original bitcoin protocol just make a clone, mine some easy-peasy newcoins and wait to see if people are fool enough to increase its price.

Am I wrong? It's just the way I see it at this moment.

Answer: Yes.

Network seems slow today, no confirmations since 5 minutes.

Slow? Blocks are aimed to be 10 minutes.
