^^^ Out of the 5 races that are labelled as toss up, Montana and Iowa may go for GOP. The two from Georgia may also end up with the GOP. NC looks like it may flip to the Democrats. So it may get 50-50. If we add Murkowski in the Democrat column, then Democrats will be in control of the senate with a margin of 51-49. So unless a miracle occurs, the Dems will control the senate.

BTW.. a miracle may occur. From what I have heard, in Michigan John James is rapidly closing the gap with Gary Peters. And in AZ, Martha McSally is only 3-4 points behind Mark Kelly. So in case the GOP wins one aming AZ/MI/NC, then they may control the senate.

As expected, the match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe turned out to be another one sided affair. The Zimbabwe batsmen did a somewhat decent job, but their bowlers failed once again. I don't understand the point in having a series such as this one, between two teams of unequal strength. Zimbabwe needs to be kept out, at least until their performance improves.
3083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 01, 2020, 05:16:04 PM
As usual, RR batting has collapsed and the burden of rescuing the team has once again fallen on the shoulders of Lord Tewatia. Oh... boy.. just while I was typing this Tewatia got out. Now it is all over for the Rajasthan Royals. Anyway, for now it is confirmed that KXIP, CSK and RR are out of the playoffs. KKR will be having 14 points from 14 matches, but their run rate is quite low.
3084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spend or HODL Bitcoin during COVID-19? on: November 01, 2020, 01:48:47 PM
Well.. it will depend on the financial state of the individual. For me, there is no need to sell any of my coins right now, because I am still getting my full salary. And the best part is that I am working from home and my expenses have therefore gone down. I am able to save more during this period, when compared to the time when I was working from office. But then, not everyone may be lucky. Some of my friends are receiving reduced salaries.
3085  Economy / Economics / Re: I lost my job, how about you guys? on: November 01, 2020, 01:31:07 PM
Thanks, a few more details as you provided makes the situation more understandable. I hope for you and all the others which are affected strongly by this pandemia that it will end soon. But I am not very optimistic that it will change much before 2022. There are still so many uncertainties regarding vaccinations which are the only hope. Hoping that the virus is appearing from one day to another is an illusion.

Obviously doubts remain. They are rushing through the trials and therefore some of the researchers and analysts are skeptical about the efficiency and the possibility of side-effects. The pharma companies are claiming that their vaccines are effective, and the trials prove it. Now we need to choose which version we should believe. At this point, there is hardly any option, other than to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
3086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees high on: November 01, 2020, 01:21:09 PM
The miners are not going to complain. Look at some of the previous blocks. Check Block #654997. The block reward is BTC6.250 and the fee reward is BTC1.850. So in total, the mining pool (Poolin), received BTC8.10, which is at least 15% higher than the average. But while the miners are happy, the users and merchants are not very excited about it. I was about to send a transaction today, but had to cancel it due to high fees.
3087  Economy / Economics / Re: Second lockdown in Europe can their economy survive this?. on: November 01, 2020, 01:11:53 PM
Here is the difference between Europe and the United States. In the US, president Trump re-opened the economy. He is getting bashed by the mainstream media, claiming that the decision to open the economy was the reason for the big spike in cases there. These same media outlets were praising the European approach earlier. But the cases seems to be raising there as well. But the obviously, media is after Trump and they are silent about the European leaders.
3088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: November 01, 2020, 01:01:07 PM
I think no excuses will work anymore. In fact, Conor is a waste material for both UFC and boxing. I think he is well aware of this, so he is only trying to make as much money as possible while he is interesting to at least someone. I wonder in what area he will work after he finally retires from the fighting.

You guys need to show some respect to Conor. He has a terrific MMA track record. He has 22 wins from 26 fights to his name. It is true that he lost against Floyd in 2017, but then boxing is not his core domain. He was brave enough to accept a challenge outside his core domain. Will Manny or Floyd do something like this? Floyd previously tried his luck with WrestleMania, but he never participated in MMA.
3089  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 01, 2020, 12:51:14 PM
Actually Deepak Hooda played a good knock and saved his team from low total to a fighting 153 but on the other side CSK is playing really good in their powerplay overs and already score 63 runs at the end of 7 overs with no loss of wickets. It looks like CSK is not going to finish this tournament at the bottom of the table. Cheesy

What difference it is going to make, even if they finish with a win today. Before the start of the tournament, everyone were considering them as one of the favorites to win the trophy (along with MI, DC and KKR). But their performance was appalling. And it is not just the number of matches they lost. They way in which they lost some of the matches also matter. I remember one or two matches in which they lost, simply because their batsmen (Dhoni, Jadhav) were playing defensively when 8-9 runs were needed per over.
3090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain losses over $13.6 billion due to hacker attacks on: November 01, 2020, 12:41:49 PM
Well.. I am not surprised by the numbers. When I first created an account here in Bitcointalk, the board was full of such threads about people complaining that their wallets got hacked and the coins were stolen. And in most cases, the victims had failed to take proper security precautions. Had they activated 2FA or made email authentication mandatory, then 99% of these incidents could have been avoided. Nowadays the users are more careful and that is the reason why we are hearing such stories with lower frequency.
3091  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-10-30] Bitcoin transaction fees jump by 570% over 12 days on: November 01, 2020, 12:29:23 PM
I wanted to send some coins to one of my friends. When I checked Blockchain.com, it was asking for $12 in fee. I cancelled the transaction, as I thought that sending $25 after paying $12 in fee is not that worthwhile. So I called him, and with his permission sent the payment with my bank account. I feel disappointed about it, as I don't use my bank account that regularly. But here, I was having no other choice.
3092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: American election is nothing to do with BTC on: November 01, 2020, 12:19:33 PM
The outcome of the POTUS 2020 elections will not have any direct impact on cryptocurrencies. But there can be indirect impact. Joe Biden has already stated that he will increase the taxes. This can have a major impact on those who invest in Bitcoins. Especially those who get the advantage of lower taxer for long-term capital gains tax. Biden has specifically targeted the long-term capital gains tax.
3093  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 31, 2020, 06:11:35 AM
Pakistan made 281 runs in their 50 overs which is quite a reasonable score in ODI. I don't understand why you call it an average performance ?
Zimbabwe have lost 4 wickets and the overs are running out of their hand. I am sure Pakistan will easily win this match by big margin of at least 80-100 runs.

Look at the Zimbabwe bowlers. None of them have any experience. I have heard about Blessing Muzarabani a few times, but none of the other names sound familiar. If against such an attack Pakistan can't make a total of 300, that too at home, then I am not very optimistic about their chances against big 3 teams. The victory margin was also quite small and unimpressive.
3094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 31, 2020, 06:01:06 AM
What a match we have had. Even the Chris Gayle 99 could not take Kings XI Punjab towards the victory. That's how tough is the competition in this year's IPL. Still its not sure who will make to the top 4 teams. With the loss of Kings XI Punjab, the points table is very much open now for teams to qualify.

And let's not forget the fact that the KXIP management refused to include Gayle in the playing XI during the initial 6-7 matches, because they wanted to give repeated chances to Glan Maxwell and mediocre players such as Mandeep Singh and Sarfaraz Khan. Gayle has played a huge role during the second half of the group stage, and without him, KXIP would have been in very bad shape.
3095  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: October 30, 2020, 12:13:41 PM
Probably Venezuela was for a short time the only country that came close to having again a gold standard but with copper and nickel.  Grin

Well.. this happened around three decades ago, when the former USSR collapsed. Hyperinflation made the smaller denomination coins almost worthless, and therefore people melting them to valuable metals such as copper, aluminium and nickel. Even from India, there were reports of scrap dealers melting the smaller coins, to extract steel (which were then mostly used for manufacturing shaving blades).
3096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: AUDIO massive pump after surprise Binance support on: October 30, 2020, 12:03:00 PM
usually it is used as a place for whales to play for profit by making the price rise, while after many people are hooked and enter, the whale slowly starts selling its assets little by little until the price is cheap. so my advice when there is a new coin is to be careful.

If an altcoin gets listed in a major exchange such as Binance and Huobi, then there is not much the whales can do. They can manipulate the prices, in case the coin/token is listed in only a few minor exchanges and only in case the liquidity is very limited. If the trade volumes and the number of traders are high, then it becomes very difficult to manipulate the exchange rates.
3097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 30, 2020, 10:35:51 AM
Is anyone watching the ODI series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe? I just found out that Pakistan has lost 2 wickets for 92 runs, they are batting first. Abid Ali and Babar Azam are both out. Pakistan will win this match as Zimbabwe won't be able to stay long on the wicket because of their weak batting line up.

Very average performance from Pakistan, and they are at 261/7 after 48 overs. BTW, can anyone tell me why Fakhar Zaman is not in the playing XI? Is he injured? The Pakistani top order was disappointing and only Haris Sohail and Imam-ul-Haq got half-centuries. Let's see how their bowlers are going to perform. They should aim for a big win, by bowling out Zimbabwe for less than 150.
3098  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 30, 2020, 10:21:49 AM
Is this the same issue with South African cricket as they are providing quota rather than looking for skills but Indian team has a good composition of talents and without talent and performance you cannot hang on to the team for a long time.

Well.. the problem in India is that they have an oversupply of talent. For each slot in the playing XI, you have 6-7 different players competing for it. And the competition is the most fierce, for the position of wicket keeper batsmen. Rishabh Pant is being preferred by Kohli. But other players such as Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are also in the probable list. And then we have players such as Dinesh Karthik and Wriddhiman Saha, who want to make comeback to the national team.
3099  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 30, 2020, 10:08:52 AM
I had a hunch yesterday before the match that CSK will play a spoilsport for KKR and they did it. Now it has become very tough for KKR to reach the top 4. The way KXIP is playing I doubt they will lose any match and if they do then only KKR will survive this IPL. Good team but bad luck.

Looking at the way KKR is performing during the last few matches, I need to say that they didn't deserved a place in the playoff stage. Captaincy of
Dinesh Karthik had been nothing short of a sham. And he has also contributed very little with his bat. They have a number of promising younger players such as Gill and Tripathi. But they always fail to perform during pressure situations.
3100  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 29, 2020, 06:07:17 AM
KKR needs to win today's match against CSK, but I am not that excited about their chances. When was the last time any of their bowlers (apart from Varun Chakravarthy) had a match winning performance? Sunil Narine looks like a shadow of his former self. Pat Cummins is yet to do any justice to his huge price tag. And the less talked about Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Prasidh Krishna, that better. Overall, KKR has been a huge disappointment this season (after starting well, with 4 wins from the first 6 matches).
