I not agree with you here because Australian want some good use of Indian tour as its very profitable for them and if they are going with these bouncy wickets then surely they are going to lost some reveinue so they will prepare some good sporting pitches as right now both teams are in good shape and Australian will enjoy home advantage which is enough for them even India is going with some good pacers but batting is real concern for them.

The Australian batsmen, such as Warner and Smith are in good form and this may prompt them to prepare good batting wickets. Many of the Australian batsmen have faced the Indian pacers during the IPL, and they will be wary of their pace and bounce. With the Indian fast bowlers in such top form, I don't think that Australia will gain much by preparing bowler-friendly wickets.
2882  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: November 25, 2020, 12:46:12 PM
One thing that surprises me the most is that, the country where this damn virus originated has long gone back to the normal routine after eradicating the pandemic. But every other country in this planet is witnessing the first, second or even third wave of the pandemic. I am perplexed by this, and will be eternally grateful if someone could explain how this could be possible.
2883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To be Fair I think bitcoin will go highest highs and then will collapse on: November 25, 2020, 12:35:54 PM
The question is what will be the highest high this time around. Back in 2017, it was $20,000 per coin. So now we can expect an amount which is considerably higher. But to predict it with anymore accuracy will be almost impossible. It can be $25,000 per coin, or $50,000 per coin. It can even be $100,000 per coin, before the next major correction kicks in.
2884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino workers forced into unpaid leave on: November 25, 2020, 12:24:12 PM
This case shouldn't be politicize like on media, the COVID-19 cases as reported some day ago for the US is that, the figures keep increasing and even the outgoing president cautioned the US citizens not to add more injuries to the current happenings due to the Thanksgiving that's coming. In my opinion, we have to protect ourselves because "when there's life there's hope". These workers involved in the unpaid leave should take this as temporal and not what will be permanent.

People are trying to paint a picture of starving and cashless casino workers. That is not the case. Everyone is getting their stimulus cheques from the government and that should take care of the necessities for a while. But then you can't expect the casino owners to pay wages to all of their employees, when they are having zero revenues for the past many months.
2885  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-11-18] Bitcoin price surged up to $82,000 for a brief moment on Binance on: November 25, 2020, 11:21:45 AM
I guess that if somebody types 82000 instead of 18000 kinda deserves his fate. I mean, when one works with money, he should double check.
Well, after such a costly trade, I am sure that next time he will... if there will be a next time.

It is his fault. But in normal circumstances, it should not occur. I am someone who do stock trading and in this sector it is not possible to have such an error. First of all, it is not possible to set the limit to 3x or 4x of the current price. I guess in Binance they don't have such preventive mechanism, and this in turn resulted in huge losses to the trader. I won't be surprised if he launches a legal suit against the exchange.
2886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to my bitcoin if I die today? on: November 25, 2020, 11:09:59 AM
The idea is quite selfish but I understand because in this world you won't believe others but yourself. But imagine the scenario where your near relatives like your wife, children or parents might be the one who sadly need some funds because of something serious and by that funds it may change some serious or bad situation. Would you still risk not to tell to atleast one people about your funds? For me, I will always believe on my sister and I will tell my funds and private keys to her so that she may used it for emergency and for their needs if I am about to leave.

Here we are talking about two risks:

Risk #1: my coins may become inaccessible, if something happens to me
Risk #2: my coins may get stolen, if I reveal the private keys to someone

For me, Risk #2 has a much greater probability of happening. I am a healthy human being in my 30s and the chances that something really bad would happen to me is very minute.

Anyway, it depends on the individual. If you think that for you Risk #1 has a greater probability of happening, then you can make arrangements accordingly.
2887  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is planting trees actually good for the planet? on: November 25, 2020, 10:54:12 AM
I am not that convinced about this forest planting theory. Trees do absorb carbon from the atmosphere. But they store the carbon in their wood and release it when they die. Also, in my area I have seen a lot of grasslands being converted to artificial forests. They are disrupting the natural ecology by doing this. The ecosystem that existed earlier won't be able to survive once the trees are planted.
2888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2020 US Presidential Election | Trump vs Biden on: November 25, 2020, 10:44:00 AM
Maybe some big bettors are threatening to sue bookies if they call it for Biden already ? Could happen, when you see the level of delusion among Trump's supporters.

I haven't seen any evidence for the same. Even here in Bitcointalk, there were some very well publicized bets between well known users. The one comes to my mind is the 0.1 BTC bet waged between suchmoon and eddie13. After the results came out and it was clear that Trump had lost, eddie13 transferred the coins to suchmoon. At this point, I have to say that it is the Biden supporters who are behaving in a delusional manner, by posting fake claims.
2889  Economy / Speculation / Re: who believes that the price of BTC high next month? on: November 25, 2020, 10:33:45 AM
Already we are just a few hundred $$$ away from another ATH. I believe that the next ATH may happen within this month itself (in all probability by either today or tomorrow). After the ATH, we can expect a small correction, as some of the holders who are trapped since 2017 are likely to sell at least a part of their holdings. We can expect the rally to resume within the next 2-3 months.
2890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 25, 2020, 08:05:04 AM
But Aussie chickened out, may be for good reason or may be not, who knows but its hypothetical situation so everything goes. In case of UAE, if group system is a thing then it seems possible.

It was the Australian board which chickened out, and not their government. The government was favorable, but the board probably wanted to give preference to the IPL. UAE do have a large number of cricket facilities, in most of the Emirates. Apart from the three main Emirates (Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah), they do have good stadiums in Ajman and Fujairah.
2891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Argentina raises Gambling tax on: November 25, 2020, 06:02:19 AM
Gambling is a voluntary habit so I can't say if it's good or bad. Increased tax will lessen the average number of people that gamble. I'm not saying all of them but some will think twice if it's worth gambling with the money they can only afford to play. Addicted gamblers on the other side will always find a way to continue their habit, either they find a different platform with less tax or increase their bankroll if they can afford to do so.

Those who are habitual gamblers, will continue with their trick irrespective of the taxes. Some of them would agree to pay the higher tax rate, resulting in a lower amount of disposable income at their hand. Others may decide to move their gambling activities to illegal casinos and online gambling sites, where they don't have to pay any tax. Eventually, the government will face a declining stream of revenue from the gambling industry.
2892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to my bitcoin if I die today? on: November 25, 2020, 05:51:07 AM
you must trust your nearest relative or wife's child. They are the people most entitled to your assets as well. It is worth remembering that some people also believe bitcoin as a means of investment. Perhaps you can also withdraw all your assets so that they can be passed on to what you want before death occurs

No. In today's world, you can't trust anyone. People have become more selfish and devoid of human emotions. I am also holding a large amount of coins, and till now I haven't shared my private keys or passwords with anyone. If something happens to me, then all those coins will be gone. But that is a risk I am willing to take. It is simply a question of which risk you would prefer - getting your coins stolen, or your coins becoming inaccessible after your death.
2893  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin shoots past $19,000 as new ATH awaits on: November 25, 2020, 05:40:59 AM
I think that after Bitcoin touches the mark of its previous historical high, it will roll back to the $ 15,000 area, because it will not be able to rally for a long time without corrections. But after a pullback, it will try to rise above $ 20,000 again.

How you can be so sure? The recent spike resulted from solid basics, unlike the case we had in 2017. The current rally was triggered by the adoption of Bitcoin by PayPal, while in 2017 it was mostly due to the hype surrounding the ICOs. Also, you can see that the Bitcoin market share is remaining above the 60% level, compared to the below 40% level we had during the 2017 rally.
2894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 25, 2020, 04:53:19 AM
ICC could easily organize T20 WC in Newzeland if they want. ICC's officials did not want to organize this time T20 WC. There could be two reasons.
1. They did not want that, coronavirus to spread through this WC and defame anyone with the name ICC.
2. They gave BCCI the opportunity to organize the IPL, because if the T20 WC will be organized, the organization of the IPL would have been uncertain.

There were talks ongoing regarding this subject a few months back, and the New Zealand government wasn't much excited about hosting the tournament. Also, we need to take in to account the fact that the IPL involves a total of 8 teams, while the T20 World Cup involves a total of 16 nations. I am doubtful whether a small nation like New Zealand can host such a large tournament on its own.
2895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: November 25, 2020, 04:41:30 AM
If Michale Clarke has said that India is likely to be whitewash if they play without Virat Kohli, he is right. And the first reason to say that, the series is being held in Australia. And their pitch and field are completely different from the field of India. It is very difficult to perform well in this type of field without any pre-experience. So I also think that playing without Virat has the potential to whitewash India.

At least for the first match, the track is unlikely to offer much assistance to the pace bowlers. The Australian board is well aware that a tour by India occurs only once every three years. It is like a jackpot for them and they need to make the maximum use out of it. If they prepare a bouncy pitch and the match gets completed in less than three days, then they will lose a lot of revenue.

I am not a citizen of India. I didn't have any problem watching the game online. If you haven't streamed anywhere other than Hotstar in India then you should try using VPN Cool
You are right, when they know they have no counterparts, they only look for profit without looking at their quality. Which is very annoying and frustrating for ordinary viewers like us.

There was a time when Star Sports was the only sports channel in India. They faced some competition from ESPN, but in a matter of months ESPN India was also acquired by Star. Viewers were forced to pay exorbitant subscription fee for sub-standard coverage. The situation changed when new channels such as SONY, TEN, NEO Sports and DD Sports came online.
2897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US Presidential Election 2020 and its impact on gambling on: November 24, 2020, 05:45:29 PM
this gives a relief to those that voted and betted on biden because finaly it was proven that biden really won the election game and i felt sorry for trump because they did everything , they waste money and time but at the end biden still got it . he can better luck again next time

The final results (some of the states are yet to release them) prove that the margin was not extremely small, and this prevented Trump team from filing tons of lawsuits. Both the parties have a lot to cheer about. The Democrats won the presidential elections, which would enable them to pack the supreme court with liberal justices. GOP on the other hand, gave a very tough fight in the POTUS elections, while maintaining their majority at the senate. And surprisingly, they gained more than a dozen seats during the House elections. And finally, from what I have heard, the gambling sites got good profits as almost equal number of people made bets in favor of Trump and Biden respectively.
2898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: November 24, 2020, 05:24:56 PM
I remember the FIFA World Cup and the vuvuzela sound was really high but i did not know that the channels filtered to remove the high sound but i enjoyed the sound while watching and it was a different experience but the background noise during the IPL was really irritating to say the least as if the crowd voice was on a loop every ball is bowled irrespective of the game situation and hence i had to lower the voice to get rid of that stupid loop Grin.

IPL was covered in so many different channels, in almost all the major Indian languages. I don't know what prevented Star Sports from providing an additional option, where this "artificial crowd noise" was absent. I can't complain much. The BCCI did such a splendid job in organizing the league. This was one of the minor issues, which could be swept under the carpet.

No Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma for the first 2 tests against Australia. Ishant is recovered but to be a match fit he need at least 1 month training including 2 week quarantine period. Rohit is still struggling with his hamstring injury.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/30377226/australia-vs-india-ishant-sharma-rohit-sharma-ruled-first-two-tests

Rohit is no longer in his 20s and the heavy workload during the IPL might have resulted in the injury. And I am not much surprised about Ishant. He has always been an injury prone bowler. There are rumors that Shreyas Iyer will be included in the test squad, and he may be even given an opportunity to play one or two matches against the Australians. I am in favor of such a move. I have always considered him as the future Indian captain, although his recent poor performance during the IPL was a dampener.

Have to give credit to BCCI, they didn't give up despite all odds, which were against them. Fair to say as long as money and their interests are concern they don't back down easily.

They went ahead with the tournament, although 90% of the people were against the idea. If you look at the media coverage, a lot of the politicians and activists were arguing that when people are dying from COVID 19, such tournaments should not be held. I was not surprised, since India is very famous for "activism", which has resulted in many important infrastructure projects getting delayed by two or three decades. Perhaps that is also one of the reasons why they decided to host the league outside India. It takes a lot of courage to go against their opinion and schedule the tournament.
