Even after the bad start England have managed to score 250+ runs by the end of day 1 is good. Someone taking responsibility and doing the best to withstand the situation, and today it looks like Baristow the rescuer. Somehow England will manage to score 300+ runs which is quite good for an innings. If England perform well in bowling surely it can restrict West Indies within 250 runs. Then the match can turn towards England.
West Indies bowlers allowed the match to slip out of their control. Only Jason Holder was consistent, while Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales bowled in a wayward manner and allowed Jonny Bairstow to build big partnerships with lower order batsmen such as Ben Foakes and Chris Woakes. And England still have Craig Overton and Mark Wood to come, and these two have some batting capability. I guess it is possible for England to get to a total of around 300-350. It will be interesting to see the performance from the England bowlers, in the absence of Anderson and Broad. The game is still in the initial stages and WI still can get back into the match. The English side will try to reach a score of more than 300 runs in order to stay in the match. WI only need to take the wicket of Bairstow in the first session of day 2 and restrict the English side not to go beyond 300. Well this test match is an easy easy draw now. We dont see these kind of matches these days as test matches dont even do go to 5th day. As we saw india vs srilanka, india winning within 3 days. And this test match not even 2 innings finished and 4 days are gone. I think I could have last for 2 more days. The pitch is really dead having nothing for the bowlers.
It is good to see Pakistan being competitive against the big-4 nations (helped by the pitch in a big way). But at the same time, teams like Sri Lanka are proving again and again that they are incapable of doing so. I don't really understand the point in allowing Sri Lanka to play test matches against a team like India. The gap is too big, to have a meaningful competition. And after the retirement of star players like Muralitharan, Jayasuriya, Malinga and Sangakkara, Sri Lanka is struggling even against weak teams like Scotland and Oman. As per the ICC test ranking, Pakistan is positioned at 6th and Srilanka is at 7th. Both teams at the moment are playing the top 2 teams in test matches. Meanwhile, Srilanka is getting destroyed by India and Pakistan is giving a hard time to Australia. Srilankan cricket has deteriorated gravely after those legends retired. The board need to find talents as soon as possible otherwise they will fall below zimbabwe in the test ranking list and eventually fade away as test playing nation. |

I am not at all interested in women matches but today I saw on Geo Super (our local sports channel) that tomorrow there is a world cup match between India and Pakistan women cricket team tomorrow at 6 AM early morning (pak time). I am keen to watch this match and see if Pakistani women team can do an upset to the strong indian cricket team. Although, chances are less but only if they can make history tomorrow. He was just 52 by the way but when I read that he died in Thailand then I assumed what might have led to his sudden demise. In the past he became a headline because of his satyr attitude. Indian team is facing some turbulence after Virat Kohli was kicked out for nepotism and favoritism. The entire team is divided in to two camps - one supporting Kohli and the other that doesn't. The Kohli camp is trying hard to protect the players in their camp. For example, Hardik Pandya was persisted in the team for many years despite not performing up to the mark. Players like Venkatesh Iyer, drafted in as the replacement for Hardik are not given enough chances to showcase their skills. All this is having an impact on the performance.
Rather than nepotism and favouritism, the team is full of politics. This is common with Indian team, earlier it was with Dhoni. In particular how this politics is being made is from the senior players. The senior players used to give pressure to the board that one player from their association must be there in the team. This means from Mumbai Cricket Association there needs to be a player, whether he performs or not is secondary. This is how the board seems to operate. This is main strong point with current Indian team now they have very good finances system and just because of this politics is also had too much influence in this all and every one want to go with his own ego and policies which is hurting very badly them in last few years.
