Personally, I have lost interest in this edition of the IPL primarily because of the gap and the fact that many overseas players won't participate in the rest of the season.

The BCCI is trying to pack it up quickly through double headers etc which is the right decision in my opinion. They could have avoided this entire mess by following their IPL 2020 strategy, but their greed screwed them over.

Sri Lanka is perhaps the only test playing nation where the cricketing structure remains limited to Colombo and one or two nearby cities. There is hardly any infrastructure in the provinces to the North and East. Even Afghanistan has managed to spread cricket to all the provinces within their country, but being a test nation for so long, Sri Lanka has failed in that regard. The situation in Bangladesh is similar, but they recently started a domestic competition which includes teams from the provinces.

I think it still too early to talk about ETH and Matic, the issue will be fix it by ethereum after they do the major upgrade on ETH 2.0. I think the real contender for ETH right now is only BSC, but we better wait how good it is ETH 2.0.

Sri Lanka has collected as I expected. They have collected 286 runs. And I said this collection will be enough to defeat Bangladesh. At the end of 27 overs, Bangladesh scored only 103 runs. Bangladesh lost 4 wickets. At the moment I do not see any possibility of Bangladesh winning this match.

We cannot blame BCCI for the current pandemic situation. When the IPL started, the condition of covid-19 was not so worse as it is now in India. Nobody anticipated that covid-19 third wave would be so deadly in this part of the world. No tournament can take place in this pandemic whether it be IPL or T20 World cup.

A few days back, there was a statement from the ECB which made it clear that they will not make any adjustments to their schedule, in order to accomodate the IPL. Now this is going to create a lot of issues for the BCCI. What they are going to do now? Are they going to ask the ICC to postpone the T20 World Cup? I don't think that the ICC guys will be very excited with this. Because the World Cup was already postponed once, in order to accomodate IPL 2020. Also, should a franchise league be given a higher priority, when compared to a global event?

^^^ Lasith Malinga was probably the last Sri Lankan player who could be classified as "legendary". After him, Sri Lanka was relegated to the category of teams such as Ireland and Zimbabwe. It is clear that the domestic cricket is not producing enough number of quality youngsters. The cricket board needs to look in to this issue and revamp the domestic setup. Else, in the long term they may end up like Kenya. Also, I don't have a good opinion about the SLCB. There is too much governmental interference on the board.

The Kochi Tuskers franchise refused to pay the 2011 salaries and this is from where the dispute originated. They were suspended for the 2012 edition of the tournament and the players were auctioned again. So for the year 2012,  no one is actually going to complain. However, the 2011 salaries need to be paid by the Tuskers franchise and it doesn't comes under the auction of 2012. Also, this is where the incompetency of BCCI is exposed. The pending salaries were scheduled to be paid immediately after the completion of IPL 2011. This was not done and the BCCI (which was under the Srinivasan/ Sharad Pawar mafia) refused to act when the players complained. The franchise was suspended almost 12 months after this incident. That is why I believe that the BCCI is responsible.

Indian courts are useless. It takes around 20-30 years to get a judgement. One of my friends had a property dispute and after 25 years they had an out of court settlement to resolve the issue. If they had waited for a judgement, then it could have easily taken another two decades. Since overseas players are involved, I would advise them to go for international arbitration. Only such judgements can force the BCCI to make payments with due interest. Really feel bad about the players.. after all the hard work they end up unrewarded.

The richest sports board in the world never makes a delay in the payment of their administrators, but here we have a bunch of players who have been waiting for a decade to receive their payment. I don't understand the mentality of these people. They need to understand that they receive their salaries just because these poor players put the effort in the field. I hope that the BCCI will soon clear the pending dues, with interest. BTW, why can't these players approach the courts?

Those are rumours, but the league is initially created as a platform of promotion and not to provide opportunity for the young talents. With this there is possible chances of some form of scripting on matches. I don't state every match to be scripted.

Some say the league is a scripted one. I don't believe in it, but if you go examine the match scenario on different season finals everyone will get confused. Whenever Mumbai Indians win the trophy there arises a statement, finally Ambani had won with his money.

I'll be surprised if Mumbai Indians didn't reach the playoffs.

Here the second wave seems to have plateaued. The number of infections per day are now in the 250K range, down from the 400-450K figures which we were having a few days back. But that doesn't mean that it is safe to conduct major tournaments such as the IPL and the T20 World Cup. Not just the rural population, but also a large part of the urban population has scant regard for law and they don't follow lockdown guidelines. For the remainder of the year, the situation is likely to remain worse.
