E. Mobley 15+ PR / J. Allen 1+ block / J. Allen 12+ pts @1.75

Cavs will play today's game without their two top guards, Garland and LeVert are both injured and will not play. This will undoubtedly have an influence on their offense, as the total of 209 is the lowest across all games today. Regardless, i feel the Cavs are the superior team and will win even if they are heavily handicapped. Due to the absence of Garland and LeVert, Allen and Mobley will see an increase in their offensive touches, they also face a Detroit interior defense that is not very good. J. Allen should easily dominate his matchup against the undersized 6'8 I. Stewart.

Rondo's total assist line is at O/U 6.5, which is probably worth considering given that he is starting for Cleveland. Rondo had 12 assists the last time the Cavs were without both Garland and LeVert.

I agree I still think Cleveland will take this fairly easily.  I like the cavs -5.5.  Also like the bulls at home -3.  And last pick of the night taking Memphis on the road -2.  Memphis is the real deal and anytime the spread is this low I'm jumping on them.  I think the Timberwolves will make a nice push at the end here but Memphis is too strong still.  Good luck everyone

I’m glad to see that DeMarcus Cousins is getting a contract with the Denver Nuggets for the rest of the season. Sacramento did him dirty and it’s been nothing but injuries and missed opportunities since then. It appears he’s finally gotten himself into a position where he can rebuild his game and show the league what he is capable of. He may never put up the monster numbers he did in Sacramento ever again, but he’s certainly got a couple years left where he could be a menace off the bench for a contender.

The dude was a monster back then and he can still be a good asset for the Denver Nuggets especially to preserve Jokic's health and to give him more rest. We will see how effective he is with the team after the All-star game where the teams double their effort to preserve their spot in the playoff or to catch up and snatch it from others. Denver Nuggets' last game is a crucial win and Cousins has just shown them how he can handle situations like that even you gonna play against a top contender team, you're not gonna play soft.

Last year, we've seen a lot of team turning around after the all star break, like New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards.

So we might want to watch out the Nuggets with the addition of Cousins to be the back up of Jokic. I'm seeing that there could be games that he can score 15-20 points and grab 10 rebounds. And he could be a perfect fit for the Denver team.

Cousin's can still do that, if the coaching staff will be able to maximize him, his addition to the Nuggets can give Jokic

enough rest. We don't know yet if what they are planning after signing Cousin but this guy is not just a backup but a good provider

when giving a good minutes inside the court. If it's not because of his injuries, he might have better career ahead, but boogieman's

injuries' keep coming back and that's hurting his career.

Denver signed him for just that though.  They aren't going to play jokic and cousins on the floor both with starter minutes.  That would be a spacing disaster.  Cousins will probably play 15 minutes or so as a change of pace from jokic and when they need someone to clog the middle.  Not to mention the dude hasn't played nba pace for awhile.  He isn't going to just plug in and have the stamina of a starter.
3103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun alone? how true? on: February 23, 2022, 05:24:20 AM
Have you heard that some people gamble for fun and not necessarily to make money?

I find it hard to believe completely because who doesn't like to make some more money even if it is not needed.

If you knew the exact sum you were going to loose gambling, and you are the type that they say " gambles for fun", will you find it fun loosing that money still? will you return another day in awareness of how much you will loose and still want to loose for fun?

Well if you don't make money you can't gamble for long but yeah tons of people do it for the adrenaline rush more than even the money part. It's an addiction to some, so it's probably a mixed bag of why people gamble.  Not always for the money.

But you can only have authentic feeling of fun and happiness if you are using your own extra money, where you totally accept the possibility that you can lose that amount in your games. But for example if you are using 200 bucks per bet in crash game, and you lost it in one go, and you are just in the middle-income category, are you going to have fun on that case? For me, definitely not. So this is a subjective matter depending on your financial capability when it comes to gambling.

Fun for one is differemt then fun for another.  I can have fun spending my last liquid dollar doing something fun and I people think rolling dice is fun then yeah they can have fun with non "extra" money.  Like I said there are many reasons why peoe gamble and having fun is one of them.  Watch the people walking around a casino they get caught up in the lights and the bells and whistles...it's fun for some.

Strong community is what got shiba inu to where it is today I believe that even if bear market hit harder tomorrow shiba adoption won't slow down, as for those saying that shiba isn't needed you don't know a dime about the project as you are just judging from the side that shiba is a meme coin.

It is a meme coin.  It started on the back of doge which is a terrible meme coin too.  If you think a worthless token like shib will be around long term ypu haven't been in crypto long enough.  Most people will learn the hard way, the choice is yours.  Choose wisely.
3105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin, Dogecoin Gain After Musk's Tweets, But Will There Be Another Bull Run? on: February 23, 2022, 01:16:05 AM
The most interesting thing in this situation is that previously many users previously called these coins a scam, ignoring its development and using as an argument the fact that the coins are not listed on exchanges. I hope that now their doubts will begin to dissolve
Who doubts Bitcoin and Dogecoin ? because in general both are the oldest coins that are still in the crypto space until now so those who are still doubting these two coins it seems he is still very new to the crypto space so he is not fully familiar with Bitcoin and Dogecoin.

I doubt dogecoin severely.  It's still just a joke meme coin that serves no purpose.  It's chain security relies on litecoin pools and any upgrades are just copy/paste of btc core updates.  10k new doge every minute forever is unsustainable.  It will slide back to 40-50 sats in no time.  It was the 2021 fad.  That's it
3106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Only Small % Of Tokens/Coins Survive on: February 23, 2022, 01:12:45 AM
Few years ago, someone quoted me that in few years from now none of coins/tokens that you are currently drooling over will exist.

I was overconfident, shrugged off saying - let's see, and copied the link to his comment, just so I could backfire later.

I forgot where I copied it, likely reduced to ashes because of incident. Used to use some writing app without backup.

Now, fast forward today, was in mood of reminiscence. Checked transfers on my addresses (~5 yr history), 99% of coins were abandoned. The coins which once I thought were genuine, were to last long - no longer existed.

Now, rest 1% which still existed, one of them was Ethlend, I didn't even know I took part in it until checked history. It's now rebranded to Aave and is currently trading around $140, ATH being $661.

If you are curious, received 87 tokens from bounty. Sold 'em for few dollars on etherdelta. What difference did those few $ make? Why am I like this?

Then there was another project named, Sandblock - they went radio silence when crypto winter 2018 arrived, I lost hope, everyone lost hope and now in 2022 they rebrand and bam, project revived.

Conclusion: Most coins/tokens don't survive and you likely won't know which will and which will not.

Do you agree? Have similar experiences? Would you like to share?

Of course this is right.  Crypto is driven by fads and greed.  As soon as bear markets come all of these projects literally vanish because there is no need for them and no one isaking money trading them.  I'd steer clear of most any new coin and just wait a couple market cycles to see what it does.  If it survives you might have something worth putting your money into.  Chasing greed leaves most broke.
3107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Community means everything on: February 23, 2022, 01:09:56 AM
Community means everything in crypto space, there are many people who think that shiba coin won't enter top 10 on coinmarketcap well today we did it, now that we are in bull season I'm sure more surprises is coming, shiba is more than a meme coin do your own research before judging the project, Dogecoin that was loved by the community for few years now got flipped

Bull season?  That was a terribly timed comment heh.  And community isn't everything.  Once the "community" latches on to another fad shib will go away like most fads.  Shib isn't needed in this space it doesn't solve a problem or provide anything new.  Why would it last for more than just this fad session.  It's already down to #14 and it's been sliding ever since this post.  So maybe there's more to crypto than just community.  Roll Eyes

LeBron James' last shot was very good, before that they tried three pointers all the time. Stephen Curry shoots a really good three-pointer. We watched a good allstar match, many good players played together. After Kobe's death, it's not as enjoyable as it used to be, even though he's not playing, I wish I could watch him in the stands and be able to see him Sad
I see it's like a show by Steph, he's been on fire even just by the first half of the game. On Durant's team I think Ja Morant was showing off those acrobatic dunks and it was just fun to watch him doing those things. I think it's subjective if you mean enjoyable if you only want to see what you wanted to see, we have to move on and it's just proud to say I'm a Kobe fan as well but we should accept the fact that he's gone physically but what he brought to the league is matchless, he's one of the reason how NBA was shape in the 2000's.

Correct. We have different forms of being entertained. For me, I enjoy watching the NBA All-Star game even without Kobe Bryant because it's not he is the only one who should be followed why we are watching All-Star. Not a purely fan of Kobe but I respect him a lot and consider him one of the great.

I also like to follow these young players that surprisingly in the All-Star Game at a young age. That means fans are appreciating these young players now and they doing their best to vote these players to take a chance playing at the All-Star game.

Other players take 2-3 or 3-4 years before having a chance to play at the All-Star game but today, lots of young ones are now recognized.

I enjoyed watching kobe and respected his game even as a knick fan.  And feel bad how his life was cut short but how would him being here still effect this year's all star game?  Kobe had a winning drive that I've only seen cross sport in someone like jeter so no hate there.  Just wondering how this effects the game now?

I would just rather not destroy the coin.  It's a very nice and pretty rare coin.  Ultimately if I can't find a buyer I probably will open it.

Understood.  And can appreciate the fact you want to keep this cas in tact these will be few and far between.  How would you recommend a secure transaction would take place for an in person exchange oh what now amounts to around ~$1mil worth of crypto?  Just wondering how people are doing large transactions transfers now a days.
3111  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 25BTC Loaded Casascius Bitcoin (2011) on: February 22, 2022, 03:58:35 PM
Last holdout of my collection.  I have been tempted to open it a few times, but I would really rather find it a good home.

I am asking 25.5 BTC or equivalent of another major crypto.

Buyer must come pick it up at the vault it is stored in (North Dakota).

I don't know what the vue of all the forks are.  But wouldn't getting the forks and selling the unloaded 25btc coin be worth more than trying to swing this deal?  Just seems like a lot of effort and risk on your end.  Why not just go that route?

Cheers to all who bet for Team Lebron out there.
I lose since I bet for Team Durant who are the underdogs. Should've taken that +5.5 handicap.  Grin But, I got myself one win and it hits just exactly as the amount of the spread.

Overall, I am happy with the outcome of the event as they were competing at that last quarter of the game. Enjoyed it and I think so does the organization that will receive the money.  Wink

I lost my bet on the Overs, because I had Over 329.5 in the live bet. But my bet on team LeBron was a win, so I got a bit even, I'm glad it's over now and let's get back to the main business.

Yeah these bets are sketchy either way.  Never know what's gonna happen in an all star format.  Only reason I went with lebron is Durant didn't play so essentially their first round pick (durant) wasn't going to play.  And lebron/steph loves these games.  Lebrons team now won 5 years in a row.
But it's still money for those who take the handicap, it was a close game despite Durant was not playing and Team Durant easily cover the point spread. Actually, it could go either way, if Lebron did not make the last shot and team Durant grabbed the rebound, then for sure it could be another story and Curry would not win the all star MVP despite of his impressive performance.

I was actually talking with a buddy about it, I think if team Durant won the game with a 3 if lebron missed I would still have made steph the mvp.  It has happened in the past where maps were on the losing side.  It was the most dominant all star performance I have ever seen.  Without him team LeBron would have gotten crushed.  Either way steph put on a sick show.

As long as elon musk back up this project there is no way it will FAIL, doesnt matter what use case this coin has Smiley

That stuff gets old real quick.  His tweets barely move coin price anymore.  Doge hit a saturation point where no new large purchases are being are everyone is sitting and waiting for it to pump.  Yet every minute 10k new doge hits the exchanges from the block rewards.  Doge will slide back to where it was around 40-60 sats invetably

I'm not confused that BTC will reach a new ATH this year anymore since we entered 2022 every recoveries are not strong, on the long run the way is always down, what do you think? I'm i wrong or right?

If you are talking ever then yeah we will definitely see higher highs.  Right now with the economy the way it is and coming off the pandemic I think short term we will see a dip into the 20s possibly.
3115  Economy / Economics / Re: US national debt exceeds $30 trillion on: February 21, 2022, 03:06:47 PM
Quote
The United States’s national debt exceeded $30 trillion for the first time, according to Treasury Department figures released on Tuesday.

The national debt is now about double China’s entire gross domestic product.

The sobering milestone comes after the federal government spent trillions of dollars to stimulate the economy and lessen the economic blow that came with the pandemic.

The country’s debt has increased by a whopping $7 billion since the end of 2019, just before the pandemic took hold.

“The milestone of $30 trillion in debt should be a giant red flag for all of us about America’s future economic health, generational equity, and role in the world,” said Michael Peterson, CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, a group that works to raise awareness about the debt.

“Our high and rising debt makes us less prepared for the next pandemic, less secure against future adversaries, less resilient to the changing climate, and less able to build the strong and inclusive economy that we all want for the next generation,” he added.

Most of the trillions of dollars that Congress spent sending out three stimulus checks to people, propping up businesses, and providing jobless benefits during the worst of the pandemic was financed through borrowing rather than being offset through revenues — a fact that raised the national debt to the $30 trillion mark much sooner than expected.

The gross national debt burden, which represents the debt the government owes its creditors, is greater than the U.S. economy. The national debt differs from the federal debt held by the public, which represents only the amount of government bonds held by the public and not the money the government owes itself. That number is lower, at $23.5 trillion.

News that the U.S. has crossed the $30 trillion threshold comes as the Federal Reserve unwinds its ultraloose monetary policies and prepares to raise the federal funds rate for the first time in years to combat soaring inflation.

Increased borrowing costs would make it even more difficult to finance the debt.

“It doesn't mean a short-term crisis, but it does mean we are going to be poorer in the long term,” David Kelly, chief global strategist at JPMorgan Asset Management, told CNN. The U.S. owes a lot of its debt to foreign investors, particularly China and Japan.

“That means American taxpayers will be paying for the retirement of the people in China and Japan, who are our creditors,” Kelly said.

During a meeting last week, top central bank officials indicated that the first in a series of interest rate hikes will likely come in March. Investors are pricing in several rate hikes this year, which could bring the federal funds rate to a range of 1-1.25%.

....

American politicians promise americans free stuff. Free student loans, free healthcare, free UBI.  Our $30 trillion in national debt is the price we pay for it.

Not many make a connection between free social programs and national debt. People believe they can enjoy free things without incurring penalty or price. Greed and ambition blind us to the long term consequences of our short term choices.

If the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Might it be fair to say, the road to high inflation and a bankrupt state might be paved with free things.

Unfortunately, many are desperate and willing to sell their souls to get ahead. If any choose to sell their souls in exchange for free things from the government, I hope they read the fine print.

I tend to disagree with the Healthcare and student loans being the dragging force of our debt in the US.  Other countries across the world offer more free schooling and cheaper Healthcare and don't have the same debt issue.  The problem we have is the insane amount of fat in every bill.  It's the "$5million to study the effects of snakes in our wilderness" type "initiatives that get us in trouble.  The politicians buy their votes with these things on the backs of the US citizens.

In the All-Star events last night, the dunk contest wasn't very impressive actually. Toppin won the contest very easily as the other candidates weren't that much effective. Especially one of Toppin's dunks was really delightful to watch. Congrats to him on his prize! And the 3-pointer contest was much more exciting than this. Karl-Anthony Towns was the best by making it to 29 points. The closest rivals stayed at 26 the most and Towns won the prize. And tonight, it is time for the big All-Star game!
Congratulations for Obi.

Many would not be amazed with his dunks as they look simple and normal. But I agree that they're really delighting as I'm watching those dunks that he has made.

It's not the same with the past dunk contests held yearly in the past. The blast is different and it's understandable that many doesn't see it as good as the others in the past.

Crowd is there for sure, but as far as creativity, just a so-so dunk contest for me. Not sure if the players in this contest has prepared or what but we need to have a winner so it is Obi for this year.

And Jalen was a bit disappointment, I thought we will see some new dunks from him. But he looks like he is not into this contest and just trying to go with the motions.
I also eyeing for Green thinking that he will bring some good hypes for his name.

Being a rookie and gaining good numbers of believers, he should bring the best in him. Moving to the final 2, Escano just tried to duplicate past dunk from Carter and Richardson but both were a failed attempt, just my opinion, the judges should give that opportunity to green and let him advance to the finals, we never know what he will do if in somehow he was competing for the final slot. Just saying!

They can't just put someone in the final just because because.  His first round was terrible.  How could they put him in front of Juan with the way the first round went for jalen.  A lot of people thought he would do great but after watching I don't think a dunk competition format is his thing.

I will got with team LeBron this year and I hope I am right but overall , I expect a great show not like last night when I had to find motivation to keep looking at Dunk Contest... . I get it that the top dunkers don't want to join but come on , at least try to force them to compete ? for the show and fans...because this is what sports suppose to be sometimes , right ? pure entertaining for the fans around the world and that dunk contest was awful.

The all star game is a crap shoot since both teams have enough fire power to win.  I went with the under and the first quarter they scored 92 points lol.  Second quarter is much lower and I'm hoping in the fourth they take it serious and start locking each other down.  So far so good.  Tight game getting towards half.
3119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: February 21, 2022, 02:11:09 AM
Gone are the days when slam dunk contests have always been the most awaited thing during the all star weekend. It's really far from the usual and exciting slam dunk contest that we've watched and waited in the past years. Maybe they'll do better next year. But still, I have to congrulate Obi Toppin on his win.

It's gone because of social media and lots of street dunkers uploading their videos that make the dunks in the NBA looks childish. Though you cannot compare the two because those dunks on the streets took many attempts to be perfected but they uploaded their perfect dunks which makes the NBA slamdunk contest uninteresting to watch. nevertheless, the selected players have done their best this year, and look like they gonna changed the mechanics this year with this result.
They should. Something new. Something "in". I was not entertained at all with the dunks unlike when Zach Lavine does it and of course Aaron Gordon.
That's one of the best head-to-head Slam Dunk contests that I have seen and I am grateful I witnessed it. Maybe changing it to a team might make it better like what they did with the skill competition which also relies on teamwork and chemistry. Team Cavaliers did great there, especially the passing skills where they are surprisingly in good sync.

Maybe since almost all dunks styles are now performed and shown in the history of the NBA All-Star Dunk contest, participants are having a difficult time thinking of something new. Maybe we have to wait again before there will be the likes of Lavine and Gordon to participate. It took over a decade from the Vince Carter championship to Lavine's first Dunk championship.

But if some people here are watching dunk contest outside NBA, you can see them creative and really awesome. Why NBA players can't do that?

Even in the recent years yeah most of the dunks have been done before, this dunk contest some of the players needed 20 minutes to lay down their dunk.  There was no flow and the audience was lulled to sleep.  There was no drama in the final since Juan missed his dunk after 3 times and everyone knew obi already won it before his final dunk.  Nba needs to change this up before it goes stale

SHIB has been stable lately. Are you expecting a pumping about this crypto soon? What are your expectations about SHIB in the near future? Will this project meet expectations? Its current value is $0.00002. How many dollars do you think it would be? Is it a crypto to be expected for investment? The market cap of $11 Billion and the amount of circulating supply is insane. Is it normal for it to be so low under these conditions?

It's going to get annihilated once we are deep into a bear market.  Shib isn't needed and pumped with all the other me coins.  They all will end up in the crypto graveyard including shib.  Best bet is to stay away or liquidate now while you can.
