Need Croatia to win 2-1 and it's 1-1 with a few minutes to go to half time. Really need this win with my joker to likely take me into the top five. I think there will be more than one more goal in this game though.

I had England 0-0 too but I cannot say I am not happy that they have gone to the semi final. They are playing well, it is the first time that they are playing as a group and not as individual superstars like they have done in the past, and well in the past they have been eliminated in the early stages of WC. I have my jolly on Croatia game but I am not quite calm knowing that the referee whoever might be will undoubtedly favor Russia.

I still think they've played very average at best throughout. Sweden were poor as were most of the other teams they've played. I'd really like to see them play a truly strong team before I give them their due and if they can get past the semis then they'll get that with either France or Belgium's A team.

Anyone get that 2-0 right?

England thru the semis!  Yessss!

I hope they face Croatia in the semis. Lets see how they do against a half-decent team who have been one of the best so far in my opinion. Would like to see either team face Belgium though. Let's see how well England do against a full strength Belgium team with something actually on the line. Something tells me it won't be a mere 1-0  Grin.

Really need to get a correct score to have a chance of winning something. Joker is on the Croatia/Russia match so double points would do nicely for that.
3103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: July 07, 2018, 02:23:04 PM
I've gone for a risky 0-0 in the England game in play now. Think both teams could cancel each other out and doubt many others went for that score so probably need to take some gambles if I'm to get into the top five. I think it will be a low scoring game if any goals at all and couldn't call it with the outcome so played it safe with the draw. Could see the game going all the to penalties. Still got my joker left and will have to use it on the Croatia/Russia game now.

Edit: spoke too soon. England 1-0 up.
3104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: July 06, 2018, 06:47:17 PM
I have the game down as 2-2 so need Brazil to get another 2. Maybe they can pull a Belgium and come from 2-0 down to win. I'd rather Belgium go through though as I have them to win on the bracket challenge and also they're who I backed at the start with a tenner on (and I get a free £5 bet every time they win a game), but a 2-2 and them to win on penalties would be even better. I didn't use my joker on this game so will probably put it on the England game tomorrow.
3105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: July 06, 2018, 03:51:33 PM
I have Uruguay to win against France. On the other match I have Brazil atm but i'm having second thoughts of changing it to Belgium.

Edit : Rip my prediction lol after I post this France scored a goal. Hoping for Uruguay to score at least two after the HT break.
I must admit you does have much courage to support Uruguay as their star striker Edinson Cavani is struggling with an injury, and even though he is on the substitution list now, I don't think he would be able to perform much with an injury even if he is being substitute into the match at the second half, my money are on France.

I would have gone 1-1 had Cavani started. Uruguay were probably the better team in the first half but they've been outplayed in the second.

I have 2:1 for France with Joker on that game as well. What was the bonus question which opens only after line ups are known. Didn't make it in time to chose. So now I am wondering if I would got that correct or no.

I also had 2-1 and Uruguay need to get a goal in the last 2 minutes neither of us are going to get any points. The bonus question was "Player to take the most shots". I'm going to use my Joker on either the Belgium/Brazil game or England/Sweden tomorrow.

Edit: game is over now. 2-0.
3106  Other / Meta / Re: Will the merit system be removed by BTT in future? on: July 04, 2018, 10:45:42 AM
Nobody has a crystal ball that can look into the future so nobody can answer that, but what is more likely to happen if the merit system fails is signatures are to be removed completely and that will then solve all our troubles with the ranking system here because people only care about ranks for signature campaigns and bounties. So that is something you should be more concerned about because I'm guessing if that happens you will leave and never return anyway, so instead of hoping and dreaming that one day the merit system might be removed and everything goes back to how it was before, I'd be more concerned about the quality of yours and everyone else's posts here.
3107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's English Premier League Football Pool |£25 to join Pot @ £425 on: July 04, 2018, 10:31:02 AM
Yes, you predict the score and get points for the correct outcome (win, lose, draw) and much more points for getting the correct score exactly right. I will PM everyone nearer the time about payments but it will probably be a week or two before the Premier League starts. Hopefully the bitcoin value will rise again during the tournament like it did last year and we'll end up with a nice bonus for the pot.
3108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: July 04, 2018, 10:28:31 AM
England have the easiest route into the final by far now. Sweden in the next round then the winner of Russia and Croatia, and I think this is partly why I just can't get excited by them. They've a very average side and have only played other poor to average teams and a Belgium b-team who they couldn't even beat. I think we'll struggle with whoever we get in the next round or two, but in the final it'll be one of Brazil, Belgium, Uruguay or France which I don't think would be pretty if we get that far. The games between those four teams will be very interesting and I couldn't really predict who will go through at this point so the tournament is still up in the air for me along with the predictor. If someone can get a surprising score right with a joker it could easily take you into the top five.

I don’t think anybody who hasn’t paid is allowed to post in these pool threads).

A few have tried. They should read the op.
3109  Other / Meta / Re: Should ANN and services threads be excluded from the merit system ? on: July 03, 2018, 09:16:27 PM
I was thinking about this the other day. Users are just wasting their merit on them to be honest, and they're just needlessly giving them away as a "like" or "thanks" instead of to posts that are actually of substance. Wouldn't surprise me if some of the bounties are requesting that users merit their ANN bounty threads as well in exchange for higher bounties. I wouldn't be against removing the merit button from certain sections and the first post in Ann threads would be a good candidate.

Football's coming home lol. Got the score correct on that game as well with the 1-1. Had the earlier game at the same score as well so shame Switzerland couldn't equalise. Really need some correct scores to have any chance of getting into the top five. Anyone else just get the 1-1?
3111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's English Premier League Football Pool |£25 to join Pot @ £425 on: July 03, 2018, 01:07:02 PM
This sounds awesome,

where are payments made?

Money will be collected in nearer the time of the start of the league so everyone pays the same and there's no issues with fluctuations etc. Are you in?

Great project! Joined.

I'll join the lower end of the bracket. So either £25 or £50 if you decide to do the latter. Hopefully, over the entire season I do better than I did in the World cup...

Why not tell the other Chipmixer guys to join up?  Grin  I'm pretty sure 50 GBP is nothing for you guys.  Lol.

Anyway, it's nice to see more and more people gambling a bit and having some fun.  Smiley

It's not much for anyone on a half decent signature campaign to be honest. You could probably make your money back on Chipmixer just by posting in the discussion thread throughout the league as well though. good fun either way and a decent chance of making some money.
3112  Other / Meta / Re: Request more staff to recover accounts on: July 03, 2018, 08:50:39 AM
Would it not make sense to allow more people to recover accounts?

I understand that this takes time and there is a lot of people wanting their accounts recovered but thats why there should be more staff able to do it. How about allowing all global moderators to do it?

It would make sense, yes, but for some reason this isn't happening. The only reason I can think of is theymos doesn't trust anyone else to do it. Not sure why, but if theymos or cyrus aren't going to do it then they should either give someone limited access to restore them or find someone else to do it. Theymos did once mention the possibility of hiring someone externally to run the forum (quote below) but not really sure how that would be any better than having an existing staff member do it, but the rate they are getting recovered (or more pertinently not being recovered) has been a huge problem for some time. If theymos isn't going to give access to someone to help restore them then at the moment then it looks like they're just not going to get restored any time soon.

It seems that income skyrocketed in 2017, but mod payments did not keep up. My understanding is that mod payments should be 25% of income. What happened?

I posted an estimate like that a long time ago, but it was an estimate as of that time, not a guaranteed amount. The mod payments algorithm has never taken forum income into account whatsoever, and you can see that in 2015 and 2016 it was much higher than 25%.

The increased-value reserve and massive 2017 income (which may well have been just a weird temporary trend) came pretty suddenly. I'm not sure yet how best to handle it. I've been thinking of maybe allocating some of the money toward creating a registered non-profit which would have a similar mission as the forum, but would focus more on things like free-speech legal battles and the development of true decentralized forum software. I also need to figure out ways of delegating more, since I am absolutely swamped as things are right now. Perhaps I could hire someone with a business degree or something who can act more like a proper CEO. Suggestions publicly or via PM are welcome, but please focus more on structural improvements rather than lists of things to throw money at. This has already been the case to a large extent, but especially now, the limiting factor is mostly time/people/skill/trust rather than money.

I think what Vod said is true:
Here is what I don't understand.... Theymos is intelligent when it comes to programming.  He could easily create a type of account that had limited moderator abilities - specifically  the security rights to unlock an account.  A trusted user (like me) could spend some time to review signed messages and restore accounts, reducing workload.
I guess he just does not prioritize account recovery.  I understand his reasoning, since losing your account is, in most cases, your fault.

I see many members waiting for their account recovery because hacked or any reason with sending the proof (SignMessage) but what I see almost all don't get a definite answer.

they only have patience and hope

They don't have to be a priority, but it seems like they're not even being put on the 'to-do list'. Users aren't really getting any responses at all regarding their accounts from what I gather.

I do not think that recovering accounts merely is signing a message and then verifying that message but requires user verification. "More investigations to verify the user."
These investigations require more time to verify that you are the actual user of that account and have not sold it and attempted to recover it.
Also, the rank and importance of your account play a role in determining the time required to recover it since the overall error returns to you in protecting your account.

They will require more work than just verifying a signed message, but I don't think most of them are even getting looked into or having their messages verified in the first place. Some cases are almost certainly open and shut and they've provided several signed messages with plenty of other evidence, but if they still don't meet the standards or something looks suspect they should probably be told about it. All they're going to do otherwise is keep bumping their threads or PMing the mods about it wasting everybody's time in the process.

well I give up haha , I'm 18th now and can't see myself climbing unless I predict the correct scores of all the remaining matches  Cheesy
even my handicaps today went totally the wrong side , took Mexico +1 and both teams to score also took Belgium -1.5 so not a good day at all both betting and predicting

for tomorrow I only have Sweden to qualify at X2.09 betfair price , I see this game as a coin flip where both sides are equal so I'm going with the team with higher odds to make it

I wouldn't give up. If you got a couple of correct scores then given the amount of points you get for that it would probably take you right up to the top (three probably would depending on what others get). Maybe go for some wild scores that others likely won't go for and hope for the best. I guess you've not got much to lose with the gamble. Unless I can get a couple of correct scores today I doubt I'll be able to make it into the top five though.

What a come back from Belgium. Class winning goal. Top teamwork. Felt sorry for the Japanese as they really deserved the win but got out classed at the end.

How was that extra time take-out not a red card? None of the commentators even remarked on it. The Danish player knew he was off as well. Last man, open goal, tackle from behind, no chance of getting the ball. Probably had no intention to as well. He did what he had to do, but that was a clear red in my opinion.

I got a grand total of 66 points today and all from that game for getting the two goals.
It's new recommendation for referees to don't make double punishment - red card and penalty.
I got 60 points today for predicting time of first goal in Russia - Spain game. I'm stuck between 8th and 11th place. But there are still some games left...

Well that's ridiculous. Even if you purposely deny a goal scoring opportunity? All it is doing is encouraging players to cheat like he did. Might as well take the player out if he's got an open goal and hope that they miss the penalty if all you're going to get is a yellow. You'd be stupid not to.

3116  Other / Meta / Re: account status on: July 01, 2018, 09:56:45 AM
You can't unless you buy a forum account from the Marketplace (not recommended). You can purchase a Copper Membership from the forum, but it only givers you limited benefits and no where near comparable to Senior Membership. I think you should be able to buy the equivalent rank from the forum though in new Donator ranks. The benefits are numerous. People get to pay to bypass the cue if they struggle to get the merit and the market is taken away from account farmers and sellers who most are now just scammers looking for a quick buck.
3117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk's FIFA World Cup Pool Discussion Thread on: June 30, 2018, 04:51:19 PM
I guess the predictor includes the two extra times (not injury time) in case the match ends in a draw...?  Just wondering.

And I think that makes them harder to predict.  Hmmm...

Yeah, they shouldn't do that. It should be the score at the end of 90 mins (plus whatever injury time they have).

It was by far the game of the tournament with two of the goals of the tournament. I had the game down at one-one lol so no points for me. Too hard to predict and I'm guessing nobody got that score right. The upcoming Portugal game will also probably be close but I can't predict the victor. Can Ronaldo do what Messi can't? Portugal may be able to beat Uruguay but I'm not sure if they'll get much further than that. Looking forward to it either way.
3118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: June 30, 2018, 04:47:39 PM
The best game of the tournament so far with probably two of the best goals of the tournament. France were clearly the better team, but Argentina did well to claw their way back and even lead at one point. Was a shame they couldn't get a late equaliser but they were clearly running on fumes towards the end with their ageing team, especially against the youngsters of France. Can Ronaldo do what Messi failed to do in the Uruguay game later today? I wouldn't bet on it, but I think it's also going to be a close game and can't predict the winner right now so going for a draw to take them into extra time.
3119  Other / Meta / Re: Multi account questions on: June 30, 2018, 08:44:00 AM
It is okay to have another account and participating in 2 other signature campaigns? Thank you very much for your replies.

Yes, I have two publicly known accounts on different campaigns, though some people would frown upon a user joining the same campaign with two more or more accounts and consider it abuse, especially if that campaign specifically states that only one user can join per person. Once an account is spotted to have abused bounties there are some people who leave appropriate feedback for that and all the accounts that belong to that user.
3120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Managers can stop asking for emails on Google form for bounty ? on: June 30, 2018, 08:38:09 AM
This isn't really a forum issue. Most campaigns won't need it but they could be asking for it for a variety of reasons. Some will likely use it to contact you or even spam you, but they could just be collected and sold to the highest bidder. The usernames and emails of people who are interested or involved with crypto (and especially bounties) are very valuable to scammers and ICO campaigns because it's a great way of getting their ICO out there (and your money ultimately). If you are worried about any potential abuse of your email either A) Don't join that bounty, B) Give them a fake email, or C) Use a throwaway that you don't care about.
