3101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First Terror Attack Related With Bitcoin - INDIA on: October 29, 2020, 05:47:56 AM
It would be stupid on the Indian government's part if they did an action against Bitcoin and not the criminals themselves, if they made this the reason of their plans to ban cryptocurrency they would look like a dumb government. If you ask anyone if Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies will disappear will this make all the crimes that is happening now will also disappear? Of course not crimes existed before and will still exist now with or without cryptocurrencies, banning the mode of payment won't mean a thing to them as they will have other ways of getting the money.

The government in India is a regressive one. They have banned porn in the country, and that tells a lot about their intelligence level. One of the biggest advantage with cryptocurrency is that the authorities can't ban it. How is it possible to ban a decentralized asset? All you need is a stable internet connection and either a smartphone or a laptop. But I am not sure whether the Indian government understands any of this.

The ICC should ban South Africa, not for government interference, but for the racial quotas in cricket teams. South Africa was banned for almost 3 decades during the apartheid era. What happening now is not much different. A majority of the players in the national team, as well as the first class teams are based on the basis of race (6 out of 11). This racial quota has transformed the South African team to a laughing stock.
I am against the quota system but to ban the entire team and taking away the livelihood of the players it is a hard thing, we are living in 2020 and things are not good as every country is facing some or the other issue and these quotas are created to appease the general public by the political system and it will destroy the entire infrastructure and destroy the game.

You can have quota system in education and jobs. But it is really ridiculous to have this system for the sports teams. As far as South Africa is concerned, ANC is in power for the last 26 years. Now it is the non-African groups which are getting discriminated here (Asians, Colored, Whites, San.etc). And also, ethnic Africans have historically shown less interest in cricket compared to the other groups. For them, the favorite sports are football and rugby. And there is no evidence to indicate that any sort of racial bias exists in South African sports.

Yes, I understand, that's why you really need to have some kind of information, prior to the spike so that you can take advantage, but it's hard for us, maybe for some whales or close to the project itself, nevertheless the recent spike and the subsequent down ward spiral just shows how dangerous crypto investing it, specially if you are buy during it's peak. There's no way for you to recover, so it's either you sell at a loss or keep sticking with the project for many months and years and wait for it to bounce back.

Obviously, if you want to profit from a lesser known altcoin, then you need to invest in it before it gets listed in any of the major exchanges. Once it gets listed in exchanges such as Binance and Huobi, the prices will surge to a very high level. You can still invest at this point, but now the potential return is low and probability of risk is high. That's why you should always analyze news related to these coins. If you get to know about the exchange listing a few days prior, then you can make a lot of money out of it.
3104  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Shit Hits the Fan: Australia joins US, India and Japan in Naval Exercise on: October 28, 2020, 04:47:31 AM
The human population is almost 8 billion and climbing at around 25 million per year. We are running out of natural resources and under these circumstances no region is a liability, irrespective of whether it is desert or mountain plateau. Two decades ago, Ethiopia and Eritrea had a war over a small desert strip, which killed more than 100,000 people.

But then, the case with China is different. They have territorial disputes with all their neighbors. Some of their neighbors (such as Pakistan and Kazakhstan) have given in to their demands. Others, such as Japan and India have refused to be bullied.
I think China just needs a setback from the world to make it understand that despite of it being an economic power the rest of the world is not too easy to handle. I think the first part from every country should begin by giving Taiwan a status of country and beginning diplomatic relations with Taiwan. The day a few big countries do it rest of the countries would follow. There cannot be a bigger setback to China than this it will have to surrender at some point.

Agreed on Taiwan. Other nations need a rethink on the "One China" policy. But then, Taiwan should also change its official name from "Republic of China" to "Republic of Taiwan", and give up their claim to Chinese mainland. "One country, two systems" logic doesn't work that well, as we have seen in the case of Hong Kong. Taiwan needs to remain independent and for that it needs the support from other nations.

I am not very convinced about the version being given by the authorities. If the radicals want to transfer money from London to India, they don't need to complicate the matters by using cryptocurrency. Much better options, such as Hawala are available. I would say that either the individuals involved here are complete imbeciles, or the authorities are cooking things up, so that they can ban cryptocurrency.
3106  Economy / Economics / Re: In COVID-19 everyone needs motivation on: October 28, 2020, 04:24:15 AM
This is interesting, so heard immunity is going to be developed before even a single vaccine is applied to the general public? If true then this is leaving the pharmaceutical industry in a really bad shape, while the coronavirus has been terrible and it has claimed many lives and it had a significant impact in our economy at the same time things could be way worse and if they were we will be completely unprepared for it, I do not know anything about the pharmaceutical industry but they need to improve the speed at which why can develop vaccines because next time we may not be as lucky and the next pandemic could destroy civilization as we know it.

Herd immunity is the reason why the number of cases are going down all over the globe. Take the case of India, they used to have 1000-1200 deaths per day from COVID 19, until a few weeks ago. This number has now come down to 400-500 per day. I am not saying that the danger is over. The number of people dying from Coronavirus is still very large. What I am saying is that the vaccines were not available when they were needed. Now the requirement is not that high, as the global population is inching towards herd immunity.

When a cryptocurrency goes up just because it is listed in an exchange, you know that the spike is not going to last for much long. Only if it is having any real life usage, the prices are going to remain stable. Just checked the charts for Audius, and it is very clear. Five days ago, the exchange rate was BTC0.00003721. The current price is BTC0.00001088. That represents a crash of more than 70% in just 5 days.

Good and experienced bowlers should be included in the squad for the Test match against Australia. Siraj maybe good for t20. He played well in IPL. But he is not yet perfect to play Test match against a big team like Australia.

Other pace bowlers in the lest are also not that experienced. And this can be a problem in case either Jasprit Bumrah or Mohammad Shami gets injured. Pacers such as Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj doesn't have a lot of experience in playing against teams like Australia, especially in the longer format. Also, I would have liked the selectors to include one more pacer in the squad. What is the point in having three spinners for Australia?
3109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 28, 2020, 03:54:05 AM
Limited overs cricket only, no test series atm. South Africa trying to lure Srilanka tho.

White ball cricketers from the both teams getting fair amount of practice here so yeah we could expect cracking series.

Sri Lankan cricketers have been out of action for so long, with only Isuru Udana having match experience from the IPL. However, they have the Lankan Premier League 2020 scheduled to start from next month. There is still a lot of uncertainty about the schedule, but I hope it will go ahead as planned. The last time they did something similar was in 2012 (Sri Lanka Premier League). But it was a disaster.

I am very curious about the Sri Lankan Premier League. Hopefully this time they will be able to arrange everything very well. Hope we can see a great and exciting game like IPL. I'm ready to bet on the SPL's matches.

This time they have named it as the "Lankan Premier League (LPL)". Back in 2012, the name was Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL). I don't understand the obsession with the franchise T20 leagues. If your domestic market is pretty large (such as the case in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia, England.etc), then you can be assured that the tournament will be a success. But I really doubt whether smaller nations such as Sri Lanka can get enough revenues and sponsorships to make sure that it will not end up as a loss making venture.
3110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does Signature campaign increase ICO credibility? I see few good ICOs recently on: October 28, 2020, 03:44:20 AM
credibility has nothing to do with the signature campaign. Signature is only part of promotion, to assess the credibility of a project you can see it from the experience of members of the development team or from their goals and readiness to launch the project. for the first stage you can judge from their whitepaper, roadmap, website. a credible project must have prepared it very carefully.

Well... I may have to slightly disagree. In the world of cryptocurrency, there is a lot of emphasis on trust. If you have respected members promoting your project, then it may be possible for you to get more investment. So if a project gets higher ranking members in its signature campaign, the chances of its success will increase. But at the same time, there are users who want to take advantage of their popularity. A perfect example is that of John McAfee, who promoted dozens of scam projects in 2017 and 2018, causing tens of millions of $$$ in losses to the investors.
3111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying on: October 28, 2020, 03:34:17 AM
It is difficult to investin crypto. There are many shitcoin every where. So before investing you should research more and more. You can use use coinmarketcap as a tool. 1-20 rank coin are more established and project also strong. So you can invest into them.

You need to understand that it is possible to inflate market capitalization. Coinmarketcap only takes in to account the circulating supply. It doesn't differentiate the coins which are in free float, from the coins that are being held in cold storage. For example, let's take the case of a particular cryptocurrency, where only 2% of the supply is available for trading. Naturally the exchange rates could be high, due to limited supply. But the issue occurs when you use 100% supply to calculate the market capitalization instead of this 2%.
3112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 28, 2020, 03:24:13 AM
The top two for SRH which includes Warner is always scoring the bulk of the team runs and the problem with the team is the middle order who fail to make any impact. Warner is a true pioneer of T20 and he was not in the best touch but he changed that today by giving the team a quick start and Saha played a good innings in his first match this season. Despite these big wins i doubt they would qualify because i think it is too late as the competition is high from Punjab and KKR.

The scenarios have completely changed. This week was good for the bottom ranking teams, and really bad for some of the top ranking teams such as DC and MI. Earlier I was thinking that teams such as DC and MI are almost assured of playoff qualification. Even if they lose some of their matches, it won't affect their chances. But the problem is that they lost those matches, and they lost them by huge margins (yesterday DC went down by 88 runs).
3113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US 2020 Elections data, polls and bets on: October 28, 2020, 03:18:01 AM
I would prefer Kamala Harris a candidate than Biden. Honestly, on election day, the state, which I wonder most about, will be the state of Atlanta. Democrats can win a surprise victory in this state, according to the survey results.

There is no state called Atlanta. It is one of the cities within the US state of Georgia. You are right in pointing out that some of the opinion polls had Joe Biden in the lead. But recently, the race there have tightened and I guess Trump is having the upper hand now. In the end, everything comes down to turnout. If both the camps turn out to vote in equal numbers, then Biden wins.
3114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How NOT To Get Scammed on: October 27, 2020, 05:14:54 AM
For us to avoid getting scammed, even the projects states their whitepaper as a good and look real. We shouldn't believe and fall immediately we need to study it first make some deep research about the project carefully so that we aren't going to be fooled.

Having a decent whitepaper and a good looking website doesn't guarantee the success of the project. You can create all these for $1,000 using a freelancing site. The trick lies with the implementation of the project. A lot of these projects start with a lot of hype, and then suddenly after 2-3 months all the activity comes to a grinding halt. Unfortunately for the investors, by the time they realize this all of their capital will be gone.
3115  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Shit Hits the Fan: Australia joins US, India and Japan in Naval Exercise on: October 27, 2020, 04:51:45 AM
Well coming to territorial expansion of China. One thing I can tell you it's not about resources only. It's maybe more about pride or something. They fought harsh for Tibet which is more of a liability than a resource. It's a large piece of barren land with not much to offer. Similarly now they are fighting for some land in Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh with India this land too is more or less barren and apart from having some strategic advantage is useless. HongKong and Taiwan maybe said as expansion for resources.

The human population is almost 8 billion and climbing at around 25 million per year. We are running out of natural resources and under these circumstances no region is a liability, irrespective of whether it is desert or mountain plateau. Those who are betting in favor of Biden please note these points:

1. Postal voting numbers are as expected. Early voting has helped to reduce the Dem-Rep gap, as per the data from Hawkfish. Check this: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/10/23/early-voting-numbers-swing-states-431363

2. A number of very recent polls are showing Trump ahead in Florida and North Carolina. Some of them are showing that he's ahead in Arizona and Pennsylvania as well.

3. Hardly anyone is noticing this point. Libertarian candidate is not getting as much support as in 2016. This will bolster the chances of GOP in states such as Arizona and Michigan. Gary Johnson received 3.28% of the vote in 2016, while the Green Party candidate received only 1.07%. This time the trend indicate that both the parties will poll somewhere around 1% to 1.5% each. Jill Stein didn't received more than 1.5% of the vote in any of the battleground states, but Gary Johnson got 5.18% in Colorado, 4.15% in New Hampshire, 4.13% in Arizona, 3.84% in Minnesota, 3.78% in Iowa, 3.59% in Michigan and 3.58% in Wisconsin. Evan McMullin also chewed up some GOP votes in 2016.

4. After a fierce spat between Justice Elena Kagan and Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the SCOTUS ruled that the state of Wisconsin doesn't need to count the postal ballots which are received after the election day on Nov 3rd. This is perhaps the first legal spat related to the outcome of the POTUS elections that landed in the supreme court. We'll see more in the coming weeks. The indications are clear.

Note: I don't want to pick sides. Just pointed out some of the observations.
3117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: US 2020 Elections data, polls and bets on: October 27, 2020, 04:26:33 AM
Honestly, I think that Trump is elected as president will not be a surprise. Most people writing o this topic reminded us of Trump's surprise victory over Clinton in the 2016 election. I also believe that a similar scenario is waiting for us. After all, Biden is a much weaker candidate than Clinton in my opinion. Smiley

I would definitely agree on that. Biden is a weaker candidate when compared to Hillary. But that can be beneficial for him in a way. Back in 2016, Hillary polarized the electorate. The polarization is still there, but not at the same level.

BTW, I have noticed some interesting changes in the poll situation. Nationally Biden remains well ahead of Trump, and the ratings for both the candidates have been stable. But the race has changed its course in some of the battle-ground states. And the outcome from these states will decide who will be the next president.

For example, Biden was leading from Florida and North Carolina until now. But now many polls are showing Trump in the lead. Also, according to data from Hawkfish, the Democrat advantage from postal voting is being reduced heavily as the Republican voters are flocking to do early voting. Check this:

Siraj is not great but definitely not that bad either in the Red ball cricket, he did perform okay for India A tho. He's not going to make into playing XI anyway because of Saini and Yadav. On Vihari, New Zealand tour was complete failure for every batsmen and he's played only 9 test match so far. As far as Australia tour is concern Vihari did okay there last time so i would say he's best bet for middle order and can bowl handy overs too. Shubman Gill is young and he's in the test squad as middle order batsman if anything goes wrong with the Vihari then he could replace him.

I don't think that Siraj is in anyway inferior to Saini or Yadav. It will be interesting to watch him bowling against the quality Australian batting lineup, comprising of Warner, Smith and Labuschagne. BTW, I would say that the chances are more like 50-50. Australians do have a better pace bowling attack, but they are very vulnerable in middle-order batting. Actually this vulnerability has been there for the last 3-4 years and the team management can't find a solution to it.
3119  Economy / Economics / Re: China is looking to get rid of the US dollar on: October 27, 2020, 04:05:56 AM
did usd was replaced before ? Afaik it isn't yet because usd is still the standard unit of all currency so far that are being used the most then there's euro and the other one which I forgot ,  sorry.

I don't know if it's possible for usd to be replace as the national currency but if ever it is , that won't be Bitcoin because Bitcoin is from the other world.  There are countries that can back a crypto but that is if they proudly made the crypto , China for example .

No. The United States Dollar has remained as the world's reserve currency ever since the end of World War 2. There hasn't been an instance where it was replaced by some other fiat currency. But the point to remember here is that the USD was not always at that position. Before 1945, it was not the reserve currency of the world. Check this chart below, and you will come to know:

SRH vs DC match today. A win in this match should propel DC to the top of the table, as their run-rate is also quite good. The main battle is between the SRH top-order and the pace bowlers of DC (Anrich Nortje-Kagiso Rabada). The morale will be down in the SRH camp, after their shocking defeat to KXIP (they were bowled out for 114 chasing a target of 127 versus the KXIP). But then, DC also went down by 59 runs during their last match.
