Is it not safer to send you dvc to a wallet you control the private keys to ?
This seems rather obvious to me but then you can send the coins anywhere anytime !!

would not have helped  here is why.

So I accumulate them for a longer time.  then send to cash only 2 exchanges for dvc and  had been using vircurex for years.

so instead of 3 or 4 sends totaling .the 167,000 coins I would have done a send of 167,000 and same problem.

Like i said 167,000 = .007 btc.   so under 3 usd.

if vircurex never answers me about this I stop using them.

they have made .5 btc maybe more in fees from me in the last 3 years.

so if they want that 0.007 dvc soooo  much they are willing to lose .5 btc in fees the next few years it is simply bad business on their part.

BTW I know you did some Groupcoin work

  does anyone exchange that coin?

What is the best way to mine? Any advice?

First. Tell us what you pay for power.

Right now there is a bubble with eth coin

You need a decent gpu rig and it will make some coin even if your power cost is 15 cents a kwatt.

If you have low power cost like 5 to 7 cents a kwatt you could try Mining Bitcoin

So your power cost is very important.
Your budget do you want to spend 100 or 1000 or 5000

Your ability to handle noise and heat.

I have been heavy on btc for more then a year, but the eth coin bubble now has my attention for two reasons

It makes money and for now is using less power then btc

Block by cmwahlqu with a little rental action!  This is his 4th kano block!

Edit:  I've been holding my breath for this one...now the rental bumps everyone did yesterday will break even or make a little extra coin!

yeah this one breaks me even  for my .1 in rentals

I need one more block to break completely even on the fees but pretty close to even now.  But I also now have .21 BTC in my nicehash account for the next long block so I'm all set in case I need it.

I think I am .100 in and .095 or .096 back
31125  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Running Miner off of Deep cycle batteries - expected drain? on: April 09, 2016, 02:49:38 PM
Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone knows how a 12v Deep Cycle battery would do running a miner like an S5? Assume a 590 Watt draw just as a baseline. Is it as simple as pulling watt hours from the battery? IE an S5 running @ 12v using 590 watts is pulling roughly 50 AMP. Is it as simple to say that if the battery is 600 AMP it would provide 600/50= 12 hours? Deep cycle's don't really like to drop below 50% for long life. So 6 hours? I'm more concerned with my concept being incorrect than actual data numbers here.

I've seen plenty of naysayers shunning the use of batteries as they typically have voltage drop as load is applied and battery resistance rises. That is how automotive batteries work, however deep cycle are specifically designed to maintain voltage across a usage curve with a steep drop-off and resistance increase generally happening around the 80% drain mark.

Happy hunting

S5 and 165 chips batches of S7 are not happy of voltage variance caused by dis/charging. Fully charged battery at cycle charge is 14.6V, but fully discharged battery has 10.5V. S5 likes 12V at full speed, if you put 14.6V you may overheat it, side effect is much worser efficiency, growing to S3 level. Opposite, if you keep S5 running at low voltage, it will stop hashing or you need to slow it down. My S5 can work from 9V, but at slowest seed of 100MHz.

High efficiency DC/DC converter will stabilize your voltage, but it is more conversion loss and more expenses.

135 chip version of S7 has DC/DC convertor, so it can be used at voltages 11-16V. I did undervolted version of S7 which can be used from 10V.

Yeah i covered that here;

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1429779.msg14461340#msg14461340

More or less i would run something like this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LTC3780-DC-5V-32V-to-1V-30V-10A-Automatic-Step-Up-Down-Regulator-Charging-Module-/322049388287?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

but a bit more powerful obviously. Dirt cheap and efficient.

I want to be clear here too, i don't want to just run on low voltages, i want to undervolt/clock the unit itself to increase efficiency and decrease power usage. If the S7 has dc/dc converters, it sounds like that would bypass any undervolt i would do? Or does it merely run DC/DC converters to run the control board, while allowing the chips to operate at lower voltages.

Do altcoins still rock mainly ATI/AMD cards? I don't have any of those but i have a few top of the line model nVidia's. GTX 980, 780, a couple more.

the nvidia will work (in hand is the key)  they will give decent watt to mh ratio

yeah the amd are still a little better.  but in hand is the key since in hand = 0$ cost and profit  as soon as you start to mine.

the rush is on but we all know 2 to 4 months and this will level out.

The op is long gone and this was a 2015 thread.

But with eth coin gpu mining now can make money again.

There is a lot in favor of gpu alt coin mining if you game and have a gaming machine you will discount your gear.

If you build a rig correctly it can last for years .

My ltc rig sat on a shelf for more then 18 months.  I finally got around to firing it up and mining eth coin.
Cost was zero. Now the rig is earning money every day.

Do I think I should build a lot more rigs no I do not but I will run this until it no longer earns a profit then shelf it.
31128  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: April 09, 2016, 12:23:07 PM

I have zero clue about this one it is in China ?

https://bter.com/trade/dvc_cny

and this one also clueless about them
https://safecex.com/

https://safecex.com/market?q=DVC/BTC

Sadly, bter only exchanges with CNY, so that is not really an option (It is interesting I had an account on their site that I forgot about, probably for some other obscure coin. Fortunately I had no balance there that I forgot about).

So, it looks like safecex is the only viable option. Unless it turns out to be bad for some reason. I'll look into it also.

and finally vircurex has not answered me about the 167,000 dvc coins they have of mine.

That's no good. I hope they do come around and do what's right.

Well  it would be stupid for them to fuck me the 167,000 DVC  it is only 0.007 btc.

I have used them for more then two years and have paid them close to 0.5 btc  in fees.

So to steal 0.007 btc and no longer get up to 0.500 btc in fees  over then next 2-3 years would be truly stupid business move on their part.

Not that I have not seen Crypto coin companies be stupid. So far they have not replied and the DVC is

still in the account

this is why I mentioned the  gpu rig for eth coin.

right now I spend 311 watts to earn  about .44 eth coins a day that is about  0.01 btc

so 311 watts =     0.0101 btc    eth rig
590 watts     =     0.0034 btc    stock  s-5
1350 watts   =     0.0141 btc     stock s-7

so my point is  the eth rig  loses   power   solar panel to inverter say 97% eff back to atx 90%
that is 87.3 %

same battery cost

but 311 watts for 0.0101 btc
vs 1350 watts for 0.0141 btc

or 1244 watts for 0.0404 btc  eth rig rates
vs 1350 watts for 0.0141 btc  s-7 rig rates.

just saying a mix of gear here may be better then all s-7

So I know how to attach a fan with no damage to the warranty sticker

http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/83-11829?

then use 3 of the four included screws leave the warranty one alone

put a grill on the other side of the new fan with four small thin zip ties.

this fan from amazon is good

http://www.amazon.com/Sanyo-Denki-SAN-Ace-120mm/dp/B00YOC80IO/ref=sr_1_2?

do you need to do this ?  I have zero clue

but I think if you do this the machine will be easy to over clock

The grille screws are about 120mm apart, but the distance between attachment holes on a 120mm fan (and the spacer probably too) is about 105mm. You can see the difference in my second pic. Unless I misunderstood what you're suggesting.

Okay back to the drawing board.

Well four zip ties to the grill and the gasket may work.

31134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Affordable motherboard for GPU mining? on: April 08, 2016, 10:17:32 PM
Everyone wants to use current gen mobos but that will increase roi time too much.

Ive been researching mobos and im really only interested in lga 775 generation mobo, you can get them much cheaper.  You have to build smaller rigs as they usually only come at most with 1 pcie x16 and 2 pcie x1.  Its challenging to find a proper mobo at the lowest price but I came across the hp compaq 5800 and its a ssf board but this is what ive found.  Plenty of supply online, seems to have normal 775 cpu cooler mount holes, 3 pci-e slots, there is only case fan connection and cpu fan connection is there but connector not soldered to the board.  I have found them for around 12 bucks, core 2 duos cost 2-4 bucks, ram 12 bucks + hdd ~ 20 bucks or so.  So for 50 bucks you could have a 3 gpu rig up and running + psu.  That is IF the cpu cooler will mount on this board but im fairly confident it will, other ssf and desktops use propriety cpu mounting and power connection, hp compaq and dell have done this.  For example my dell ssf gx520 board uses this  propriety cpu cooler, basically it has 2 holes drilled on the board and the cooler is attached to the case and then snaps over the chip.  If that fails get a normal oem 775 board that you know wont dick you around with propriety bs, that will be like 50 bucks or so which is still cheaper than current gen.

Anyway something to kick around

Interesting information. Thanks for sharing this mate. I thought that only new gen motherboards could be used for this task, but now I know that old ones can be used for the same thing as long as it has the required PCI-E slots. Setting up a really cheap GPU mining rig can be really cheap these days.  Grin

here is a free rig
why is that . it was left over from ltc mining before the gridseed asics got hot.

It uses an asrock h77  mobo
an openrig frame
an old seasonic bronze psu
2 4gb sticks of ram
an intel 2500t cpu >  very low power
an old sapphire hd7970 3gb ram
an big ass really good quiet air cooler

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835242030R

so I fired it up and I am making coin with it.

of course the siren of more power has called and I added an r7 370 to it.

No  we used to try that idea.  It was far too much work for me to do.

So we start later  at block  600 made  = 1416 left

And we end later at block 1200 made =   816 left

If you wait to say block 1190 made = 826 left   you are closer to knowing the answer but some one may have picked what you like.

If you pick at block 616 made = 1400 left   you are not close to knowing the answer  but you will have a lot of choice.

I always pick first an always pick -1.2%  as an homage to a former forum member.

if you look above we dropped to +3.54%  so you could win.

and for those that waited till now

+2.7
+2.8
+2.9
+3.0
+3.2  look okay

So I'm a little confused about what I am looking at in that order list.  If I create a standard order and set it to .0029 will I get any hashrate?  Can I tell by looking at that list?

right now .0032 should work

normally .0032 is too high

but as I said  if you point it here  this blocks cdf is the high for the month.

so it is kind of worth paying the .0032 rather then

.0029 or .0030  which is the most you should pay with out a prize chance.

my logic is we are at a cdf high winning number.  I am a 20th guy  so 500th will not bring my redline too high at all.  If I win the block I will win a high cdf

and will be in the lead as high cdf.

So now is the time for all you 10-50th guys to drop a nice rental.

OK what the heck.  I have never done a rental but I created an account and sent some funds over.  How many confirms do they usually want before you can spend the account funds on an order?  I put a good fee on my transaction but there hasn't been a block in a half hour.
2 confirms

I just changed my order it is now on west hash for 100th

Best I can do is get the new B12 S7 online when Fedex drops it off in a couple of hours. The second (and last) one for me will be here Monday. I should get around 16Th total.

I can understand how folks may need to stop. I don't have to pay for power, and it's not really a hobby for me, and so I'll be staying no matter what.

Wish all folks moving on the best.

yeah  the game has changed so much.  basically I can't rent 500th for more then a few hours and the reason I can do so is I made the two power deals

an s-7 in an office free power and split the coins.
the solar array with 5 avalon 6's soon to grow to 8 avalon 6's

those two  deals are why I can spot play 500th.  here on kano pool I will spend .1 btc shooting for the high cdf number.

but this is open to every one under 250th.  and now is the time to do it. since we are on the high cdf block right now.

even .02btc at 50th is not bad move.

paying .0032 is overpaying if there was not a prize involved.

but I know this is the  current high cdf block if I hit it.
I know .1 btc vs .092 btc  is the juice I am paying
so .008 btc is about  3.20 usd  extra .

and I am running 500th on the current high cdf block.

So a) I could win one of two prizes
    b) I could earn the coin back win no prize
    c)  worst case I fully lose 42 bucks or .1 btc
