If you were them, wouldn't you include the price of the shipping in the total price and offer free shipping? In terms of revenue you would get the same amount of money, but also you will get happy customers. Or charge $30 for shipping and change the product price accordingly.
Can you think of a single reason why charging $180 for shipping, instead of including that in the price is better?
I don't have a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree, so I wouldn't presume an attempt at an answer. Wink

LOL sorry CYPER but this was funny Smiley
3122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 12, 2013, 06:34:00 PM
Oh they won alright...  They sold 200+ units at $950/ea ( + probably a share of shipping that was 'too DAMN high' Wink ) in 3 minutes.  $200,000 revenue is a nice win for 3 minutes work. Wink

Roll Eyes At least it wasn't a preorder so you should be happy.

Very happy - got my two boards Wink  Why are you rolling your eyes at me ?  Huh

Was meant to be a Smiley but I did two eyes by mistake, sorry  Kiss

ive cooled down a lot. just been waiting on these damn upgrades for over a month now... just sucks that this seems like the one upgrade chance and it went by within 10 minutes and now the november units have different boards....

ah well....

Not to fan the flames, but may I ask why you didn't have your BTC at-the-ready?

He was desperate to buy some BTC the night before so I imagine he was waiting for it to go through or something.

What have you got in hand at the moment and what have you got ordered for November?

I've got one Jupiter, and one on order.

3126  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [100 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: November 12, 2013, 06:17:22 PM
I guess the decreasing % of hashrate distribution for slush is because of people jumping ship due to the luck going down?

A couple of days ago we had 6% of the hash rate, now its 4%

I mean its still like just under 300TH/s in the pool, but what affect will it have on luck the smaller the hashrate we have?

I've been sticking with Slush because I believe its important to have diversity across the pools but it doesn't seem to be helping.

If UPS doesn't lose them...

Haha yeah, I take comfort in the fact that by missing the buy window I avoided having to deal with UPS again.

I thought they'd fired UPS and moved to some other courier.

When I did after massive run-arounds manage to get my unit from UPS I told the clerk in the depot I hoped I'd never see her again, at least not at work. Hopefully I won't.

-MarkM-

I think they had more problems with DHL than with UPS especially international orders. Maybe they should offer DHL or UPS depending on preference.

Funny how some people think that somehow since they couldn't "Win the race" buying up the upgrade boards, that KNC still owes them something....  or they got treated unfairly......
Total B.S.  You snooze, you loose..... I did.   Cry

i didn't snooze man, i ordered right at 8am.... the payment system they used had its flaws
"They used"....Bitpay!   There just is no better system.  lol

I'd be pissed off too, but really these sorts of things were bound to be mad-rush-batshit-crazy and you needed to have everything ready to go.

ASIC-K I feel your pain mate really, but it wouldn't have mattered if you hadn't got a 404, if you had got through to the bitpay page and got your code you didn't have your bitcoins ready to transfer for at least 10 minutes by your own admission, the bitpay code would have expired in that time.

I mean how long did you expect them to wait for someone to pay? If they had done it by holding the order as soon as you added it to your basket, loads of people(competitors,shills,speculators,on-thefencers,whatever) could have tied up the orders and then just not paid. Then there would be people pissed off about that. They couldn't really win.

But it sucks you didn't get yours, and Phoenix1969 man.. I can't believe you missed out. Too much hittin the pipe last night? Cheesy
3129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 12, 2013, 05:37:02 PM

Forget about these prices - they are for the stupid general public. KNC have an account with UPS/Fedex and get it much cheaper.

I posted screenshots to prices via an account, that are even accessible to the general public. The stupid ones go directly to UPS and say: I'll bend over, you do the rest  Grin

Here is it again: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cheap-parcel-delivery#international

Yet another point KNC failed in my eyes: extortionate shipping charges. $180 for a small packet, weighting less than 1kg. Yeah right  Shocked

Because you are looking at it in the wrong direction mate, you are pricing parcels (without insurance) from the UK to Sweden, its different going the other way.

One of your quotes is with Transglobal express right? Well I use them all the time, I have an account with them, try doing their import quote rather than export quote.

And thats without the £550 insurance, that's an extra £11!

The other one is with Parcel2Go? Apart from pricing in the wrong direction that will always get you incomparable prices, even if you did it that way with them you have to add insurance, try adding £500 on top and see, even going the wrong way how much more they are. Sad

I know it feels like they are ripping people off with postage, I don't think they are on the raw UPS express cost, But I agree that 3 boards shouldn't cost 3 x the postage, you should be able to get them for the one price, combine the postage for less total cost.

KNC  delivered a broken product and does not reply to any of our phone calls or emails to solve the issue. Angry

This is COMPLETE Bullshit.    I am very critical of how Bitcoin companies do business and have dealt with a lot of mining manufacturers.    KNC is BY FAR the most responsive and the most professional when it comes to customer service.
What I truly appreciate about them is, when a problem comes up, they still reply and deal with it, instead of being like most companies that just stop answering.
Find something else to criticize them on because your statement is a complete lie

+1

However, feeding the trolls just encourages them, which is what they want, they want a bite so they can listen to their own voices more and more..
3131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 12, 2013, 02:59:03 PM
Regarding shipping - if you are willing to deal with a company of liars and thieves (well documented at this point, e.g "We're selling to the general public" "We are selling fully functional devices, that anyone can come and buy"), stop whining about them acting like liars and thieves.

They haven't lied to stolen from me or the vast majority of customers I am sure.
3132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 12, 2013, 02:46:11 PM
Try doing it via UPS sweden, looks like they get raped for prices over there. (using www.ups.se or http://www.ups.com/content/se/en/index.jsx

BTW 1221 SEK = £115 = $184

Not for a few weeks Smiley

and - #21073
extra modules are a shit deal if your early pre-order september delivery arrived at the end of october and has no 'extra' connectors attached..

and besides - despite more than one miner doing exactly that, the f/w isnt designed to accept 6 modules....apparently... IF youre lucky enough to have them.

i wonder if the 4 un-needed VRMs will become necessary again.

now i also wonder if there is any correlation between 6 module boards and 8 vrm modules....

im tempted to buy a couple just in case i ever need an RMA and dont want/deserve to be left 'getting by'

 Roll Eyes

Come on its not that hard to grasp mate. You must have some comprehension skills in there somewhere.  Smiley

The only reason you would not have enough connectors would be if you had a Jupiter which is an unsupported model for upgrade modules.

As the vrms are on each board anyway what are you even talking about vrms for? You won't need any more because the upgrade boards come with them already.
There is no correlation just your own conspiracy theory.

It's already been said that they are keeping spares aside for repairs and rmas.

Anyone from the UK know the cheapest place for a Coolermaster V850. I presume Amazon, but thought I would ask before purchasing my PSUs.

Also, does anyone know if these new modules will be shipping before November's batch, or at the same time?

Cheers.

I got mine from dabs they seemed to be cheapest at the time.

I'd say yes on the delivery front for the upgrade units.  I can'tsee areason forthem tohold back on despatch.  Just remember you can't use them in the November units, you can't use them without an existing Batch 1 KNC miner.

For November boxes there is good news though we have had time to revise our product further including a redesign of the PCBs, We can confirm that our November customers should expect a performance increase.

not funny! ok october deliveries where already able to mine coins. but a lot of them where struggling with not fully working machines and now this? i hope they have some good news for early adopters any time soon!

i am happy that my two machines are now working at full power but there are still a few out there that had not so much luck.

and i have to say that it was a good idea from me to buy two 1200w PSUs Cheesy. let's see what this tuning update will bring.

Oh come on, with the difficulty increases you were MUCH better off mining early at 400Gh/s than later at 550Gh/s
3139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 11, 2013, 07:04:39 PM
Kinda lame that the extra $950 modules are BTC only.

2.65BTC for a 140GH/s module.

Can you mine 2.65BTC back?

No you can't.

0.13 btc/day at the current diff, and after knc blows their November load that gets even worse.

What are you talking about.   Of course you'll be able to mine 2.65.   I'd say you will break even after 1 month (BTC in/out).  This is a very fair price and would like to hear about how they recommend connecting 6 chips to a single Jupiter.     My units are hosted so I may be out of luck but if we can upgrade Hosted Jupiters, I'd love to. We still have 6 months of hosting to use up and its not like I'm paying for power!

I think they are really designed for Mercury and Saturn owners rather than Jupiter owners.

I imagine Phoenix1969 is probably a little interested in these Smiley
