ive cooled down a lot. just been waiting on these damn upgrades for over a month now... just sucks that this seems like the one upgrade chance and it went by within 10 minutes and now the november units have different boards....
ah well....
Not to fan the flames, but may I ask why you didn't have your BTC at-the-ready? He was desperate to buy some BTC the night before so I imagine he was waiting for it to go through or something. yeah man, well they announced the upgrade the night before and i didn't have any money in my cavirtex account so i was scrambling to find somewhere to buy 7 btc....so yeah mere finally sold to me and i could wait 10 mins for it to confirm since i already made the order and it was on my account, didn't know that it would disappear if other people paid first... I'm sure they'll show up on eBay for $2995 each "In Hand!"

Oh they won alright... They sold 200+ units at $950/ea ( + probably a share of shipping that was 'too DAMN high' ) in 3 minutes. $200,000 revenue is a nice win for 3 minutes work. At least it wasn't a preorder so you should be happy. Very happy - got my two boards Why are you rolling your eyes at me ? Was meant to be a but I did two eyes by mistake, sorry

I guess a lot of people are new to bitcoin payment processors. I even had to change PC's in the middle of my purchase because my desktop pc refused to open the cart/checkout buttons on KNC. I had my laptop open and logged into KNC and MtGox simultneously and completed my purchase from there without a hitch.
Step 1. Buy bitcoins ahead of time. Step 2. Redundancy. Expect the mad rush or unexpected browser crash, have your laptop, phone or tablet as backup. Step 3. Use the direct payment wallet address provided, don't use the stupid payment button at the bitpay checkout. Xfer the exact amount provided from your wallet immediately.

exactly..use the address, never the button. I had Firefox and IE both open on kncpage just in case one didnt work.. and I am surprised people don't have a few BTC in BTCe sloshing around for kicks and ready to fire off for things like this and remember, even if you are 100% prepared, shit can still happen and you lose anyway

I know it feels like they are ripping people off with postage, I don't think they are on the raw UPS express cost, But I agree that 3 boards shouldn't cost 3 x the postage, you should be able to get them for the one price, combine the postage for less total cost.
My point was that I highly doubt they pay more than $80USD to ship 3 modules with insurance to the UK and they charge $180. My question is WHY?

It's a great profit point for my business. I love getting 40% off FedEx and charging book rate. KNC is profiteering off of this sale because they can, so I wouldn't fault them for it. They have a limited supply of a desireable product, so they could have charged $1050 ea and charged less for shipping and no one would have blinked.

Because they can. It is obvious that the people who bought the 200 modules believed the price was agreeable (total price, including shipping, import fees, and the separate HSF purchase). And judging by the speed at which they were snapped up, the buyers obviously thought the price was a steal. Businesses are in the business of making money. If people are so willing to buy their products at $XYZ, it is not unreasonable to expect the company to charge $XYZ. Of course customers would be even happier if the price was cheaper; that is only natural. But I suspect if the price (whether you tack it on the module price, or shipping, doesn't make any difference) was $50 higher those 200 modules would have still sold out as quickly.

Goto UPS.com Pick Sweden English Pick your Addy Pick 1 Kg Pick $1,000 value Be amazed at how expensive everything is in Sweden. They are not profiteering from shipping. Cyper you are coming here to pick up, be prepared to be astounded, take some time to check out the prices of things. It's £7+ a beer here. Standard. That's $11 for something that isn't even a pint, 500ml, in any pub. Upwards of that in a bar. I had to send a notorised copy of my passport back to the UK to a bank. Fedex wanted the equiv. of £60. I had to send some documents I signed to the South of France, UPS wanted £80. I said this is ridiculous and they said their prices vary dependent on country. Courier to here is a hell of a lot cheaper, than shipping out, that's for sure! Accomodation is a minimum of $1,100 a month, minimum for something about 20-25m 2, yes you live in a box, and i'm an hour away from the centre, as I cannot find anywhere closer, and i've been searching for weeks now. Bizzarely healthy stuff from the supermarket, vegetables, fruit, etc. is on par with the UK, maybe a little more expensive here and there. Meat is, especially beef, very expensive. No idea where they source their cows from!! Eating out is crazy prices, lunch is $20 up, meal in the evening, how much do you want to pay? Going to the gym is awesome, reasonably priced, amazing kit, and sexy women. The gyms are packed with strong women here. Anything unhealthy seems to be marked up. Train travel is superb and much less than London, but forget taking a cab. Healthcare, dr, etc. free, and top notch. Denistry not free, and ludicrously expensive.

I should probably toss my BA (Hons) Business Studies degree in the bin then. I must be wrong to believe that charging £1050 for the product and offering free delivery is much better than charging $950 for the product and adding $60 on top for delivery without any discount for multiple units. You would think they would care about what their customers think of them and would try to present themselves in a more favourable light. Because they can. It is obvious that the people who bought the 200 modules believed the price was agreeable (total price, including shipping, import fees, and the separate HSF purchase). If you were them, wouldn't you include the price of the shipping in the total price and offer free shipping? In terms of revenue you would get the same amount of money, but also you will get happy customers. Or charge $30 for shipping and change the product price accordingly. Can you think of a single reason why charging $180 for shipping, instead of including that in the price is better?

I don't have a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree, so I wouldn't presume an attempt at an answer.

...annnnnd this thread is starting to give me cancer again.
Yes they could have conducted this upgrade sale better but OMG I can barely read some of this crap. What is it that makes so many bitcoin miners insanely emotional and entitled?
If I was in KNC shoes I would make a preferred customers list and blacklist 90% of the people here since there is no lack of demand for their products and a seemingly infinite supply of emotionally immature customers with an overwhelming feeling of entitlement. They could save themselves a lot of grief that way...
If you are so unhappy close this thread, never come back and don't buy KNC products.

Why did I pay less shipping on my November Jupiter than I did on 3 modules without heatsinks? Do they ship the whole miners below their cost?

Plenty of companies do the "low product price with 100% to 300% markup on shipping" and plenty do the "higher margin product price with FREEEE FREEEE FREEE (did I mention FREEEEEEE) shipping". Both work. KNC chose the former. If they chose the later you would have people complaining the price was too high and the FRREEEEEEEEE shipping was just a gimmick. Generally companies choose the former when they want to avoid sticker shock. Excluding the shipping made a nice psychological three digit number which potential customers could think about for a day. When you finally got the shipping page you probably had already committed to purchashing. That combined with the rush and limited supply means I doubt very many customers backed out at the last minute. In short, they did it because it works (and will continue to work).

Do you want to round us against the wall and shoot us too? Or just imprison us maybe? May I have my right of free speech now, so I can express my discontent however the fuck I want? It's not like they participate in this thread or their own forum for that matter.
