For some reason I have a harder time getting anything done when the price goes up as I do when it is going down.

May I guess that you close your winning positions too early, thus not letting your profits grow? And vice versa, taking for too long a losing position or even never closing it at all? Wink

No, I hold through the whole upswing. I spend my days thinking about all of the money I am making and how it will change my life.

When it goes down I just have to wait until it levels out to know when to buy back in.

If you never sell you can never buy "back" in Wink
3122  Economy / Speculation / Re: Theoretical Speculation on: November 10, 2013, 01:25:04 PM
I made 12% on my money over the last 24 hours which could have been better but I was expecting a bigger crash and got back in late.

I am still trading in buy/sell pairs to make a percent on a smaller part of my money every half hour or so Smiley

We don't want to end up without bitcoins since bitcoin is guaranteed to climb over the years imo. Cheesy
On the otherhand you want money to buy if it crashes fast Smiley
3123  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll - Correction or bubble popping up? on: November 09, 2013, 11:30:37 PM
What's your definition of healthy. I wen't for POP! because I believe it will fall suddenly to $220 or maybe lower.
But that could be considered a healthy correction  Grin

short lasting sharp bear trap, then rise and stabilization

+1
3125  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Reaches New Heights on: November 09, 2013, 08:58:00 PM
long-term trendline it was on around $222.

What happened to your trendline in Spring 2013 when it jumped from $14 to $100+ ?
Also, don't expect repeating of April's crash, which was not a natural correction but terrible manipulation including shutdown of major exchange, ddos and FUD campaign.
Bitcoin now is much stronger and protected than it was in April.

I'm no trading expert but only looking at the last month it has gradually crawled from $140 to $222. 24 october there was a correction back to this trend-line.
I believe $222 to be a fair price for bitcoins at the moment and this is what I call the long-term trendline..
I don't believe that the bitcoin will crash below $100 or will go or stay above $440 for long.
It will reach $440 or higher only not in this "bubble".

Taking a look at the bitcoincharts 6 month chart the last bar looks unhealthy Cheesy

Also with the recent 4100 BTC being stolen who can say this bubble isn't a setup so they can sell in the current high.

Nobody knows what will happen but i'm betting on a crash back to the $222 line or lower with a rebound to this value.

Hope I'm right Smiley
3126  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: Top of the Current Bubble on: November 09, 2013, 07:57:23 PM
We're at the top for now, only stupid people are currently still buying. It might make the 440 but doubling price in a few weeks will make people itching to sell.

If it goes $1100 i'm back to mining ;-)
3127  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Reaches New Heights on: November 09, 2013, 06:52:44 PM
Sucks when you're wrong huh Sad   Went up to $352 after you posted this Smiley

Sorry.... I can't call the exact moment when it will crash but it will be soon.  Tongue

Yep last time it skyrocketed it had a sudden crash. My belief is that it will crash back to the long-term trendline it was on around $222.
Also with inputs.io being hacked I can imagine a big part of the 4100 btc being sold Smiley

I pulled out my BTC a few hours ago and am patiently waiting for the crash to come, so I can buy back more bitcoins  Wink

If mining doesn't get harder and mining hardware gets better your setting up inflation.
The only thing saving this coin would be the max capacity. At that point it is only obtainable through trading before that it is worth nothing. Since there is an endless supply of it it is worth nothing.

Your idea is like printing your own dollars and expecting someone to build you a house for it LOL!!!

Call it WorthlessCoin would be a good joke of a coin Smiley

Again simply printing money without production makes it worthless. But if an economy of goods and services appears with the currency, that is what creates value.

Who would offer a service or goods for a coin you can just as easily obtain yourself?

This coin is like saying that a grain of sand is now a currency and we all live in th desert. Who would want to accept this for goods and services.

A currency needs a backing of work. That is why air is free and diamonds are not.
3129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The way I see altcoins (right now) on: October 10, 2013, 05:00:21 AM
Full of miners, empty of users. That's way they don't have merely any value.
Am I wrong?

What's your take on trading?

Many altcoins will fail but I do believe that quite a few will make it after bitcoin mining becomes nearly impossible.

Mining is not off-the-bat profitable, in my opinion, unless you put in a load of cash when a new ASIC can be pre-ordered. Are you willing to invest a few thousand on a possible scam?

Saying that, mining is fun and it can be seen as an investment. BTC and alt-coins values might rise so maybe you will mine your $1 Microsoft/Apple share which will become millions.  Smiley

Mining has another benefit and that is an anonymous source for your money, if you solomine or use an anonymous email when in a pool. You wouldn't want the police to link your email with a crack deal on the silk roads would you Cheesy

Investing in a GPU is better than an ASIC if you like gaming since you can game and mine in off hours.
GPU's probably make more noise when pushed to the max.

I still use my GPU for mining new alt coins and hoping one will skyrocket  Wink

Have fun and good luck!

The main reason is because I was looking to make a small amount of profit, (not by mining, by investing) to help make payments on an overwhelming amount of credit card debt I built up before I understand what was happening.

Ok so you want to take a debt to get out of a debt... You do realise this is how people go bankrupt?

What was your profit in investing per year?

Hope all goes well :-)

What is the value of a starcoin right now?

Cryptsy has it now

100000 str = 0.25 btc
400000 str = 1 btc

100 to 100000 str can be solo mined in an hour with 1 gpu depending on luck.

So currently not worthwhile but prices are rising so fingers crossed :-)
3135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyone started on Starcoin? on: September 27, 2013, 10:05:49 PM
Thank you all for the replies. I know the risk and cost of mining.
My reasons are getting altcoins using solomining so I can pump and dump if ever they hit the exchange.
With a low difficulty I hit a block every hour or so.

The fun thing with starcoin is hitting bonus block up to 100000 coins :-).

Yes I also believe only a few altcoins will survive and bitcoin will remain the leader. So probably it will be a waste of Gpu but who knows it might be a winner! No risk no gain.

I am going to start building a trading bot to trade in the Btc / Usd / Eur market. This will hopefully start generating real income. Have a lot of research to do on this ;-)
3136  Other / Beginners & Help / Anyone started on Starcoin? on: September 25, 2013, 11:38:09 PM
Hello everyone,

I've mined BTC before but wanted to start on solomining altcoins with a single 7870 xt I have left.
Currently i've started with starcoin due to it's immaturaty and to be able to solomine. It's not on any exchange yet as far as I know but might in the future.
Hopefully it will get adopted and then I will have solomined quite a few thousand coins. Or maybe find a star block with a few thousand coins :-)

Anyone else in Starcoin or risking their computing power on very new altcoins which has a 50/50 chance of ever getting in an exchange?
Any reason to stop mining this coin?

Why do I have to start in the newbies section LOL! :-P

Grtz,
Wilhelm
