Wallets mit denen ich mich anfreunden könnte wären neben Bitcoin Core: mSIGNA und Armory. Armory unter Debian ans Laufen zu bekommen ist: Zum Einen eine Qual, zum Anderen (ich habe das in einer VM mal ausprobiert) muss man - wenn es denn dann mal laufen sollte - auf seinem System trotz dem Bitcoin Core installiert haben und der Synchronisationsprozess der abläuft ist der selbe. Habe also damit nicht wirklich etwas gewonnen, oder übersehe ich da ein Detail..?
Armory braucht core, korrekt. mSigna.. Nun, da habe ich einfach aufgegeben.. Ich habe versucht mir das schmucke Teil zu installieren, nachdem ich allerdings nach Stunden des installieren von Dependencies (insgesamt 18 bei mir an der Zahl die jeweils händisch installiert werden mussten) keinen nennenswerten Fortschritt bzw. kein Ende in Sicht sah, gab ich auch das dran.
Ich hab mSIGNA mal zum laufen bekommen (allerdings easy mode unter Windows) und kann es nicht empfehlen. Ist unnötig kompliziert und bietet dafür dann doch fast keine Vorteile gegenüber Armory. Einen vollen node (ala core) braucht es auch. Das einzige Wallet was sich ohne Probleme installieren ließ war eben nun Bitcoin Core, also fiel meine Wahl auf dieses.
Electrum? Läuft super unter Debian, braucht neben eh schon installiertem python nur python-qt4 was bei Deb8 übers normale Repo zu bekommen ist soweit ich mich erinnere. Läuft - da python - unkompiliert direkt als Quellcode, man kann sich also - sofern man python lesen kann - sicher sein das man kriegt was man will. Ich bin damit als mobile (laptop) wallet ziemlich glücklich. Ich habe auch an sich kein Problem damit dass es viele Resourcen verbraucht, kann es wegen mir ruhig machen, auch wenn es sich 55 GB an Daten runterlädt, kein Problem. Mir will nur nicht in den Kopf dass es das mit dieser zermürbenden "Geschwindigkeit" tun muss..
(Für Vorschläge einfach zu handhabender Wallets bin ich übrigens gerne offen, ich fand nur leider selbst keine..)
Was mir gerade noch in den Sinn kommt:
Wenn man diese Dateien problemlos sichern kann, gibt es dann nicht auch eine alternative Quelle für einen manuellen Download?
Gibt es irgendwo bestimmt, die sind aber entweder schon verifiziert (kompletter Ordner) oder als bootstrap.dat verfügbar. Hat der Bundesverband Bitcoin nicht noch ne aktuelle bootstrap im Angebot? Das Problem an vorverifizierten Daten ist das eine kleine Chance besteht das jemand dir was unterjubelt. Ist also eher unüblich das es überhaupt angeboten wird. Zweite Anmerkung:
Ich habe gestern nochmal die Probe aufs Exempel gemacht und Bitcoin Core in einer frischen VM installiert. Der Download ging mit annehmbarer Geschwindigkeit (zwischen 1 und 2 MB/s) bis die heruntergeladenen Dateien eine Größe von 22 GB erreichen, dann fiel es wieder hinab auf die sagenhaften 10 - 80 kiB/s.

A 128Gb USB stick is so cheap, it seems mad not to back up the Bitcoin directory. As I understand it, you don't have to backup every day. Core will verify the recovered directory, and then build on that from the public blockchain.
Yes, once a week even once a month would easily be enough. With 128 GB you can even hold two backups, at least for a while. |

Sowas lässt sich meist mit nem -reindex lösen. Ich würd erstmal bei core direkt anfangen und gucken obs hilft und wenn das öfter passiert nach Hardwareprobleme suchen.
#1 core aus machen
#2 sicher stellen das core aus ist.
#3 mit Win + R "run" (ausführen?) öffnen
#4 c:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe -reindex eingeben und mit "OK" bestätigen
#5 Tiere, Geschwister, Kinder, Eltern, etc. pp. vom Powerknopf fernhalten.

everyone gets that every now and then. just server issues. sometimes it's happens more frequent.
Its not actually a server issue, but an issue with the network between you and the server. Probably somewhere near the server as many - including me (over different conections) - have the issue. |

I would guess(!) they use some sort of workload system or proxy that distributes the work locally between the actual miners and hold a single or only a few connections to the outside network. The easiest explanation I can think of for rebroadcasting is:
#1 ShakinHandz wants to sell socks on a market and shouts "ShakinHandz selling socks for 0.01 BTC each" once.
#2 Market network all pick up the message and shout it again once for each node of the network. Thus all participants quickly know the message (within seconds).
#3 Some time passes and market participants forgot about the message. Other messages come in constantly.
#4 I (or anyone else with a full node or using the above sites) can pick up the old message and shout it again, causing a new wave of market network shout outs.
#4.1 If I would modify the message (malleability aside for a second) to say "ShakinHandz selling rocks for 0.01 BTC each" the network would detect it as invalid and possible exclude me from the market if I do it too often.
#4.2 If I would not modify the message (it stays exactly the same), but modify the signature slightly (malleability attack) while keeping it valid, the network would confirm the message under a different TX ID. This can be a problem for follow up message (somewhere here the metaphor horribly breaks). Currently nodes do not allow for this modification so its very difficult and only works on old nodes.
I hope it helps even though the metaphor was only good for the rebroadacasting itself, not the possibly modified TX.

SSD brauch weniger strom, hab ich mal gehört
Und geräuschärmer  Stimmt, aber leider haben sie auch eine viel kürzere Lebensdauer. Jede Speicherzelle geht nach einer bestimmten Anzahl an Schreibzugriffe (und sogar auch beim Lesen) kaputt. Für normale Anwendungen mag das OK sein, bei z.B. Datenbanken oder anderen Systemen, die extrem viele Zugriffe auf die gleichen Sektoren ballern, kann das so zum vorzeitigen Defekt dieser Sektoren führen. Im Falle von Bitcoin bin ich da geteilter Meinung. Es ist zwar eine Datenbank, jedoch ist die Anzahl Zugriffe vergleichbar klein. Ich benutze für meine Nodes auch SSD's. Darum gilt: Eine SSD niemals formatieren! Nütz sowieso nichts, da es keine Beweglichen Leseköpfe gibt, für die man die Ausrichtungszeit verkürzen könnte und verkürzt nur unnötig die Lebensdauer deiner Platte... Du kannst bei ner SSD gar nicht auf n Bestimmten Sektor schreiben, selbst wenn Du Treiberzugriff hast. Die Firmware regelt das für dich intern anders um genau diese Effekte zu vermeiden. Dazu kommt das eine SSD in der Regel mehr "Sektoren" zu Verfügung hat als nötig sind, also eine gewisse Toleranz hat was Ausfälle angeht. Ansonsten, ne 850 PRO Garantiert 40 GB täglich über 10 Jahre. Bitcoin Core liegt da deutlich drunter würd ich schätzen. |

From what I read it's faster to just download with the client than to download the bootstrap.dat separately, but surely it's faster to use bootstrap.dat if you already have it, right? Maybe I'll give it a try later and see how it goes.

Do you guys not like the banana pi? I has wifi, more memory, and an octa-core processor. It's a bit more expensive, but all these boards are pretty cheap in reality.

Danke für die Erklärung, jetzt werd ich mir auch mal einen Node aufbauen und schau mal was ich am besten für eine Hardware nehme...
Mein jetziger Server ist zu "klein", also mehr als 1 CPU Kern, 2 GB RAM und 100GB SSD/HDD sollten es schon sein. Für den Hausgebrauch tut es vermutlich ein alter 2 Kern Laptop mit 4 GB RAM und ner ausreichend großen Festplatte. Mit der nächsten Version von core (0.12) sollen ein paar Optionen kommen um den Bedarf an Arbeitsspeicher beschränken zu können, kann also durchaus sein das 2GB RAM reichen. Was zahlst du denn im Monat für deinen Node? habe mir das auch schon überlegt und ab Februar habe ich auch 400 GB Datenvolumen im Monat  Da könnte das schon Sinn machen, wenn die Kosten nicht zu hoch sind. Der jetzige ist n spezielles Angebot gewesen das es so nicht mehr gibt. Das ist also nicht vergleichbar. Die Neuen die ich mir anschaue sind so im Bereich um 100€ im Jahr bzw. ~11€ im Monat. Traffic ist in der Regel inklusive, aber man wird ggf. gedrosselt, hat also nicht wirklich 100/1000Mbit/s für sich alleine. Ist aber auch nicht zu erwarten bei den Preisen. the bootstrap.dat goes in the -datadir= folder. With newer version using the bootstrap.dat is only useful under certain conditions, if you have not yet downloaded it, you can just skip it. |

I am relatively new to Bitcoin, and MultiBit Wallet epecially. I am just wondering, if I make a request in MultiBit HD, and then later delete that request, (and Bitcoin adress). Will I still be able to receive Bitcoin on that adress?
Yes, all addresses are kept and can be restored with your seed. The wallet might no longer show you the address, but you can still receive coins on it and spend them. |

You would realise that synchronization is relatively fast at the start and gets slower towards the end. If the CPU is only at 15% its not the issue though. Its either connection (slow / bad peers) or HDD speed. |

I just updated my blockchain.info wallet to beta-version, and i am unable to process payment i don't know what kind of error its showing because the error is not fitting on my screen maybe it is because i used to send the payment to 20 addresses.
I need to know how can i downgrade to blockchain.info the older one ?
It is also showing 0 nodes connected, and my payment to bitpay merchant site also get stucked. I have also upgraded to new wallet but i have tried to send those transaction via old wallet. I think its better not to send any thing or receive anything right now while they are upgrading.   Are you two the same person or what is this? What exactly do you mean when you write "upgraded to new wallet". Blockchain.info is an online service. Do you use their API? |

Blockchain needs only the 1-2 years old transactions. All the others must delete.
That is not how a cryptocurrency works  The block chain is the decentralized ledger where all records of transactions ever made from the beginning of genesis block are recorded in a string like fashion. Nobody can destroy the older chains just like that! Impossible fact. It already does, the old data is not really verified, there are hardcoded checkpoints in place, but the actual blocks are not verified. The data is not deleted true, but its as close it deletion as it gets. -snip-

The entire ~/.bitcoin or %APPDATA/Bitcoin folder, yes. This would not be suitable for others unless they can trust you, but I would think you can trust yourself. If you prefer a bootstrap.dat you can create one yourself[1] as well, but you must verify the data when you resync from scratch for some reason. i can confirm received payment from Unitaco.com campaign. Payments are made through their website, and withdraw is without problems.

They received the payment but it was a bit late and that's why it is the asterisk, also PNYC has more priority rather than CFNP If they out again today, Im fine with moving them to CFNP. Payment of the 2nd period of unitaco has been sent to our unitaco account, juts withdrew it and received it instantly to my own address. So I think it is the right time to change it to CFNP also confirm received payment for 2nd round of Unitaco signature campaign. for now I do not see a problem here with this campaign They had some starting issues, we moved them and removed the asterisk. |
