Welcome to SAD-Service

Shorena's Account Deletion[1] Service

How does this work?
You send me your username and password for bitcointalk.org via mail[2] or PM, optionally PGP[3] encrypted
and convince me that the account in question was not hacked.

I will change the password, security question/answer and mail address to randomly[4] generated data.
The mail address will be changed to <username>@bitcointalk.org.

I will keep the data for 4 weeks[8] to make sure there is nothing fishy going on and delete the data afterwards.

Sponsorship:

Before you read about the prices you might want to read this:
-snip-
I may sponsor the BTC for everybody and for 'cleaned-SAD-Service, most probably, only for Newbies and Jr. Member!!! PM me if you want.. Wink
-snip-
   -MZ

Yes, you might even get the service for free, get in touch with MZ[11] and ask for a sponsorship.

Prices:

Get the basic SAD-Service for
0.001 BTC per Account.

Get the cleaned SAD-Service to have all[5] your PMs and posts removed for
currently re-evaluating the price for this service as its more work than I expected. The price will be based on the minimal loan for my country (8.5 EUR/hour) and the time I need to remove posts (100/hour), but its open to discussion.
additional 900 Satoshi * total number of posts, no additional charges per PM.

Get the random SAD-Service to have the passwords generated with /dev/random[6] instead of /dev/urandom for
additional 0.001 BTC per 16 bytes[7].

Get the long SAD-Service to use 32 random bytes instead of 16 for
additional 0.0005 per password[10]

Get the shreded SAD-Service to shred[9] the data for
additional 0.0005 per Account.

Get the timeout SAD-Service to receive the data after 4 weeks for
double the amount charged for an equally SAD-Service. E.g. Use the basic SAD-Service for a 4 week timeout for
0.002 BTC per Account.

Escrow:
Yes, I accept escrow, you pay the fees (if any) and if there is demand Id like to get someone dedicated to do the escrow.

Questions and Answers:
#1 How do you I know you are not selling the account at a later date?

First you could always check, but I dont want you to worry about this so I say the person doing the escrow would create a post in this thread stating the deletion of your account. Thus everyone can check. It is true I can not verify that I in fact deleted the data as promised.

#2 Why should I pay you for something I can do myself?

For convenience. There are many things we could do ourselves, but sometimes we prefer if someone else does it for us. Like mowing the lawn, baking bread or changing the password of an account to a random one and delete it afterwards.

Fineprint Section:
[1] Accounts do not actually get deleted from the database, admins could restore an account.
[2] My mail address is shor3na@gmail.com
[3] My public key can be found here: http://pool.sks-keyservers.net:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0xBD6B68E2
[4] The passwords use a certain number of random bytes converted to base58
Code:
account password:        16 b
security answer:         16 b
total:                   32 bytes
[5] Not all posts can be deleted. I will not delete threads, but ask mods to move them into archival if possible. I will not delete posts in the scam accusation section or posts that are otherwise related to scams and discussions thereof. I can only delete the PMs copy on your account.
Deletion will have no effect on existing backups, private or public.
[6] It is believed among experts in the field that /dev/urandom offers the same level of security as /dev/random. More on that topic can be found here: http://www.2uo.de/myths-about-urandom/
[7] The full package consisting of
#1 the account password
#3 the security answer,
with a total of 32 bytes for 0.002
[8] The data will be stored on an offline linux system with mechanical disk.
[9] The file will be overwritten 1000 times before its removed.
Code:
shred -n 999 -z -u
details: http://unixhelp.ed.ac.uk/CGI/man-cgi?shred+1
[10] Might result in additional costs if combined with the random SAD-Service.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

Sorry, I don't understand, why should I delete my account?

Maybe you dont want to, but I see the question asked in meta quite often.

You mean bitcointalk account?

Yes.

SAD? sorry I am confused.

I don't get it either.

Is it so hard for someone to delete his account? I mean if i ever wanted to delete my account i would just let it go, or change password to some random characters and then let it go.

Am i missing something?

Nice concept and business idea you have there. However, I doubt there will be any customer.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Thats exactly the point to get it "deleted". If someone wants to sell their account, there are others providing exactly that.

Nice concept and business idea you have there. However, I doubt there will be any customer.

We will see. I certainly dont expect daily rush hours.

This is the most hilarious 'Will Work for Bitcoin' service I've come across so far!  Cheesy

The idea is novel and amusing.
There may be hardly any customer (1 or 2 maybe within a period of a month), but what you're doing certainly requires some sense of humor and I appreciate that!

You have also given a thought to name your service well and I'm sure you enjoy what you're doing.

Thanks. I certainly had fun writing the scripts[1] for this and like the way the thread is going so far. I still take the service serious though.

I like the idea. There does seem to be some level of demand for this. From the looks of it users are essentially paying for the time it takes to delete all their posts.

Question: do you have any automated way to delete posts? If not then your price is probably too low as deleting a post can take several seconds.

Another thing to note is that I don't think it is possible to delete posts from locked threads and I know posts can't be deleted from auction threads.

This is the funniest thing i have seen so you get paid to delete someones account, why would they want to do this?

I think the same when I see people using online wallets instead of something on their own computer. I dont know if anyone actually needs this, but I have seen the question asked, so I came up with a solution.

They could sell the account could they not?

Sure. On the other hand I wouldnt sell my account should I ever want to leave. It might be worth a few cents for someone to know the new passwords are out of their reach and yet the account is not used by someone else.

After you have kept the account for 4 weeks you sell the account way to go!!

Good question[1]. It would be very obvious if the account would start to post again though. I could maintain a list. Well I could edit the list. So the person doing the escrow could post here for which account the escrow is held. Thus it can be publicly verified that the account is not used for posts.

I like the idea. There does seem to be some level of demand for this. From the looks of it users are essentially paying for the time it takes to delete all their posts.

Deletion is extra, but I suspect it will be part of the most common deal.

Question: do you have any automated way to delete posts? If not then your price is probably too low as deleting a post can take several seconds.

No I dont. In fact I am not sure how I could keep "scam critical" posts in place with an automated system. If it takes to much time to delete the posts I will certainly increase the price. PMs are easy though, the forum has a build in "delete all" button.

Another thing to note is that I don't think it is possible to delete posts from locked threads and I know posts can't be deleted from auction threads.

Yep, thats part of fineprint [5] "Not all posts can be deleted."

Thank you for helping me figure this out a little better, i trust you would not be using the account but had to ask.

Also i could only see one group wanting to use this please correct me if i am wrong but the only people i believe who would want to wipe the slate clean so to speak would be scammers who do not want their past doings coming back.

But you have stated you will attempt to keep scam-critical posts in place so that kind of rules out the scammers benefiting.

Either way i wish you luck in you're service at least you are trying to help although i cannot figure out who lol

Take care
