Great Britain made an epic mistake about 150 years ago. When the United Kingdom, not Germany, not the United States, was the original home of the automobile’s innovation. This is not well-publicized in Western culture because of the epic failure in the story, and how swiftly the U.K. acted in its own demise. Instead of welcoming the automobile as a technological marvel that’ll not only provide freedom of travel to the masses someday, but also a massive industry they could cultivate domestically, they shunned the automobile. Instead of a technological advancement, British regulators saw the automobile as rolling machines of death to be feared and legislated out of the country altogether through the “Red Flag Laws”, or “Locomotive Acts” of the 19th century. https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/london-looks-become-future-global-financial-hub-bitcoin/

Just a bit of fun speculation -
What price do you see one bitcoin being valued at in 10 years, take a guess?
I'd be absolutely fucking delighted with $5,000 per bitcoin.
No one will know what will happen to bitcoin in the next 10 years, the unique thing we can know is that the blockchain will stile exist and the price will be more important than now (due the halving , 25 BTC >> 12,5 BTC \\&&\\ 12,5 BTC >> 6.25 BTC). In those case if the price will not go up, then it will be a serious problem to all the speculators (but not for the technology/concept itself).

The government will issue and use a currency they control.
bitcoin can be contorlled easily, if they want, it just a matter of buying many and contorl the market, which is the same thing in the end, or they could buy a strong and big farm and control the network Yes of course, unfortunately bitcoin can suffer this type of 'attack' if a government wants to buy a lot of bitcoin nobody can stop it. They can buy slowly, and reach to control the 45% of bitcoin (in circulation) and after may cause a new totally crash of value.

Nah, still going down.
not as harshly as we were yesterday, the prices are marginally better but its recovery slow n steady wins mate ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Do you think the price will reach again 1'000 dollars per bitcoin? It is a question of all you guys, and I really want to know what will be your reply. Let me know... b-but my buy price is $50 ![Angry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/angry.gif) If bitcoin will reach 50 dollars I expect a lot of users will say "bitcoin is going to die" and other "bitcoin is already dead".

what was the big thing coming for bitcoin? afaik there is nothing but the price drop?
We have already said, it was his personal big news and of course it will not affect the bitcoin price. We can say it was only a "joke" and we don't know if the price will raise or not in these days.

I'm not a big fan in flying in small sized aircraft since it seems that historically, many more accidents occur. Likely, because these pilots have a lot less experience than the normal pilots we tend to think of.
It is not always about the unexperienced pilots. There are always some kind of unexpected accidents arising, such as the whether, mechanical issues, or others etc. But the airplane is still our main way for travelling. This, more people can use only the airplane from move from a country to another one (example for the holidays). However I don't think the car is more secure than airplane, also if you drive in a secure way there is always the possibility of an incident (due the fault of others).

This isn't the sort of thing you post about in meta.
![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) The meta section is become the new personal diary of each of us, I suggest the OP to move the thread in the Off-topic section (but I already know he will not move it).

It was not necessary the PM, negative trust removed but I suggest all you guys to pay attention when you are "playing" in that site and maybe better stop to using it.

Yes, Why are you worried about a negative trust received from him? I can say it is a privilege receive a negative trust from him (a well know scammer). However the trust system is not moderated (or this is who a lot of users are saying) and you should contact him orivately and ask to remove the feedback.

Well I'm getting pretty annoyed now by this red message that keeps on appearing in front of me. ![Angry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/angry.gif) The problem occurs once every 5 minutes. It kinda sucks when you're typing a long reply and then when you click the post button, it goes on saying that "The Webpage is unavailable" though I can load any other webpage smoothly without even lagging. It already happened to me for 6 times now, and I'm starting to get really annoyed. Why is this happening? Does it have something to do with my connection? Have you tried to clear your cache and eliminated your cookie (try also another broswer). I do no think it is related with your interntet connection.

The article says: " Mazičres’s new cryptocurrency protocol, called SCP, is being adopted by a nonprofit called Stellar to replace a Bitcoin-inspired system meant to make financial services cheaper and more widely accessible in the developing world (see “Bitcoin-Inspired Digital Currency to Power Mobile Savings App”)."
How can they think to replace bitcoin? I think they are only joking.
|
|
|
OP, I suggest you to change the title to the thread (it is a little misleading) because there it not any valid competitor to bitcoin at the moment. Stellar is only an altcoin, how can you compare it with bitcoin ? Where is the source code? And it is unclear if this is a distributed network. If it's proprietary software then I can't be bothered with somebody's facebook credits.
I think if the code will not be open source no one will trust this "new bitcoin competitor" ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) . One of the reason of why bitcoin has a big success is because it is 100% open source. Ps: I think that you know that thing better than me.

@Snail: what's the intrinsic value of gold? And yet it keeps keeping up with inflation.
Gold have little intrinsic value indeed. It's is just psychology, social consensus and most importantly tradition. Gold have been currency for nearly three thousand years so ppl traditionally think it has a great value on it's own (rarity, looks nice, etc). BTC have no such tradition, the social consensus isn't widespread enough yet, and because of volatility and the lot's of scams psychology even working against it. Yes, scam and ponzies are the biggest enemy of Bitcoin. So many good people have left this industry due to human scum ripping them off. The biggest enemy for bitcoin (as all the other things) is the "ignorance". If you don't know something you will know how to do it so at the end you will fail and not succed to do that thing. The scam and ponzi schemes are only a little part in the bitcoin ecosystem, and it is not that the problem.

I know you've heard it before from other people trolling for attention when they don't really have anything. But I'm NOt TROLLING.
There will be something big on April 15th, I'm sure most people get the significance of that date.
Until then...
Well I think there isn't an event that's going to happen today. I've been reading this thread for a month now and I'm actually entertained by the guesses of users here. Oh, I forgot that we still have ~4 hours before the date turns to April 16th. Seriously, do you guys think that there will be an event at the time of this day? I don't think so. Not sure if trolling or hacked. ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) I don't think he was trolling intentionally. If he was, he would be bumping this thread to create more hype. Personally, I think he had some sort of info or prediction which he believed was true, but it just didn't work. Possibly just delayed - who knows. Would be cool to see someone make a predictions market where btc can be used (maybe there is one already that I'm unaware of). EDIT: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1025782.0It's a bit of a long read for me, but I guess I'll just read it to see whether this is really big or not. Thanks for directing me to another topic. ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) All this thread for the taxes day ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) , amazing! Is this the big news ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Ftechforum.it%2Fstyles%2Fdefault%2Fxenforo%2Fsmilies%2Fasd.gif&t=663&c=oakCS_tEoJQVtw) I'm out. I think he lost a lot of respect due to this action, but who knows ... the community will choose if trust his words or not.

I also don't support your idea, this is a forum and it should be opened for the registration without the use of an invite.
