Where are you from? I remember that some years ago, XAPO was supporting almost every country but then they decided to cut some of them and maybe you are from that country.

Also, here is the link of their terms and conditions:

Seems they took the fee from your balance, read this quote from their terms:

Quote
We may also close your Xapo Account immediately and without notifying you of our decision if any of the following happens:
There has been no transaction on your Xapo Account for more than 24 consecutive months;
Your Xapo Account has no funds and you have not logged in for more than 6 consecutive months;

Also:

Quote
23.1. Unclaimed Property. Under applicable law, after a specified period of inactivity by you with respect to your Xapo Account, Xapo may be required to report and/or remit any bitcoins it is holding in custody for you in accordance with applicable laws.Xapo reserves the right to deduct a dormancy fee or other administrative charges from such unclaimed funds, as permitted by applicable law.

So, according to their TOS, your account is blocked and nothing can be done to revoke it.
I'm from Greece, I've also read their TOS, which I find it quite offensive. They are practically claiming money as theirs if you haven't used your account for a few years. As the rule goes, not your keys not your coins. However, I've found an address associated with the account (Posted above) which has a balance.

Supposing that I'm wrong, that this address is not associated with Xapo, and it's from another wallet of mine, is it possible to track it? I remember addresses starting with 1** were usually from Xapo.
3122  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Xapo Wallet on: February 26, 2021, 05:42:57 PM
They just replied to me, they are implying that my balance is way too low for it to be withdrawn. According to them, my balance is 0.00001117 BTC, while I can see myself from the BlockExplorer that one of the addresses has almost 2 mBTC. Requested them to provide me with evidence that this address they are referring to is mine.

This is the one I have from the transaction history on my email.

Haven't replied to me since yesterday morning, I don't think they'll even reply at this point. I will keep contacting them till I find a solution hopefully. It's not a huge amount of money, but it still is something that is worth approximately $100, I don't see the reason to leave them like that, I cannot understand why they would screw someone like that for such a mere amount of BTC.
As you already know that their customer service is not the best. Since you provided all the documents and Xapo is not willing to offer you the service as you mentioned in your earlier post and if that is the case they need to refund the coins that you are holding in the wallet. You need to specify that they need to forward to a wallet address of your choice and i am sure they will comply with your request.

I had issues with them in the past in terms of their mobile application not functioning properly and what i learned from the experience is that you need to have the patience to have something resolved.

I'm aware of their support, I can wait, that is not my issue, as long as I recover my funds. I sent another email today, and I am now waiting for their response. If they are determined that for whatever reason I cannot use their services, that's fine by me, just provide me with the option to withdraw my balance to another wallet.
3124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone bought BTC at $6K yesterday and the exchange wants them back on: February 26, 2021, 11:01:19 AM
More updates/details to the incident:

PDAX Press Conference: Exchange Discusses Outage in Detail

^ It started with a glitch causing an unfunded order to be matched by other buyers and then one thing led to another.

~ User in this instance would probably have a fight on his hands but I don't see how a legal court would rule in his favour. Fairness comes into play here, as well as intent.
It looks like this will be handled in court as PDAX stated they would welcome lawsuits and I'm assuming they are referring to the accounts they restricted as a result of the "invalid accumulation of assets"
Would love to see how this incident escalates in the end. This case will probably end up in court, since both sides are claiming their side of their story as correct. The exchange is referring it to a glitch, which I am unsure of how this can be proved, while the users are implying that it was a valid transaction from his point.
3125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rx580 about to die? on: February 26, 2021, 09:13:00 AM
Have your overclocked them? Mine did that when they were running too high (Overclocked, high temperature), they'd start showing artifacts, green lines and so on. Started running them at lower settings, and they were fine. If not, it's probably on its way out.

Search there must be softwares to test memory, if it dont pass it will show errors on which memory chip has defected you need to change memory chips. each memory will cost you around 14-20$ then you need solder.
Not just anybody can change memory chip, not everyone can handle soldering iron, it's bad advice telling a newbie to venture into this, better look for qualified personal to do that for you before making things more worse
He can also take it to a service/technician to get it repaired, I don't think he entirely meant to repair it himself.
3126  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Xapo Wallet on: February 26, 2021, 08:55:52 AM
Hello,
I used to have a wallet on Xapo, it's since 2014 when faucets were popular back then. I managed to recover my account after a quite tiring process, due to their lack of support mostly. After logging in successfully, I was asked for verification, provided my driver's license, a photo of myself and a bank statement from Revolut (It was the only one I had in handy).

After a while, my account was blocked and this is what I received, "Unfortunately, due to compliance or regulatory reasons, we can no longer provide you with our services.". That's it, I cannot even login to my account, which has a balance of a few mBTC. Just like that, I am blocked and haven't even been told why.

What can I do now? Probably nothing I guess.

The dust amounts of old are now actually worth something. And I can imagine how infuriating it is from your end.

The onus is completely on Xapo to give you a full refund of your balances. You have provided the necessary docs as far as I can tell, and even if they decide that they no longer want to offer an account to you, they are obligated to pay what they owe you.

Keep contacting their support and do let us know what occurs. But my personal experience with their micropayments (as well as the experiences of many others) would say that their response times are likely going to be quite crappy, and they'll probably try to avoid the issue now that your few mBTCs might be worth hundreds of bucks.

It's not a huge amount of money, but it still is something that is worth approximately $100, I don't see the reason to leave them like that, I cannot understand why they would screw someone like that for such a mere amount of BTC. Haven't seen such service blocking your account after providing everything they asked for, now they got all my details and I have nothing in return.
3127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone over here accepting Crypto as payment ?... on: February 25, 2021, 08:32:08 PM
I used to buy/sell game and/or service accounts back in 2014 in some other forums. Was dealing with Minecraft accounts mostly, some time even others such as Netflix or Spotify. Was using Bitcoin back then because it's somewhat anonymous and all transactions were final.

Didn't want to use my Paypal account to avoid leaking any personal details. Plus, transactions can be reversed.
3128  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Xapo Wallet on: February 25, 2021, 05:58:04 PM
Good call, Thanks!
They actually replied to me, probably just an automated response though. They are implying that after the validation process, they decided to no longer offer services based on multiple factors used in their selection process, but for security reasons cannot mention them!

This is ridiculous. They are requiring a bunch of documents, photos and so on only to later block your account and confiscate your balance. I remember having two wallets on my account, I have the address of one of the two, which has a balance of 1.5mBTC. I'm not sure if the other wallet holds any balance.

Ah. The PayPal asshole-ish maneuver. But at least with PayPal, they lock your PayPal account from 1-180 days, then they unlock your account and let you withdraw your money. But with Xapo they straight up confiscated your money?? Is that even legal. Again, I recommend bringing this to Reddit. Link your hopefully detailed Reddit post here and I'll gladly upvote for you.
Complete dick move. I was dumbfounded by such response. I replied and now waiting for their response.
This is one of the addresses associated with the account. https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1BynVdCBgcP3XM2X8V6z4vvMLwFrQq86Kk
It's not much, but it's $90, why would I let them have it? Screwing their customers for such petty amounts is insane. I'll wait one more day to reply, if they don't, I will write on Reddit.

Thanks again!
3129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone bought BTC at $6K yesterday and the exchange wants them back on: February 25, 2021, 10:02:25 AM
What puzzled me, why would anyone sell bitcoin for $ 6k and then Pdax so desperate to offer legal recourse threats if there were no complaints from other customers about input errors?

At this point, the exchange's liquidity needs to be questioned.
Correct, at this point I would also question the exchange's trustworthiness. A similar incident had happened on Coinbase with an Ethereum incident a few years ago. They ended up taking the loss. I'm not fond of Coinbase, their support sucks, but they stood up for it. Since their TOS mentions that all trades are final, nothing can be done. Trying to intimidate a user to return the bought Bitcoin is a big red flag for them as a business.

I don't waste my time to work and earn bitcoin those ways but as you are interested in, you can check them out.

On this forum, if you contribute good posts, you will rank up and you can be accepted by managers to join good campaigns that pay you in bitcoin.
Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 20-Feb-21]
As you already mentioned, I'd avoid them too, along with faucets. They used to be profitable (In terms of BTC, not USD) but not anymore. On top of that, there are mentions here in the forum about BTCClicks blocking accounts and withdrawals. I'd avoid it, you might end up wasting your time and not getting anything at all in return.

As for signature campaigns, you'll need to rank up to at least member (And gain the necessary Merit to do so). It will take a long time, thus, it's best to try and get to know more about Cryptocurrency and ways to make money from it, such as trading, yield farming and so on.

Hit them where it hurts: make a similar post to Reddit's r/bitcoin[1]. Unfortunately sometimes, giving a certain company really negative publicity is what's going to end up forcing them to fix your issue. And while I'm not saying that this is guaranteed to work, you really have nothing to lose by now.

3132  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which exchange do you use??? on: February 24, 2021, 10:12:10 PM
~~
I always use Binance as i have many useful tool found here. I have many pair to trade there and leverage trade as well. However you may choose other exchang. Wanna know yours???

Like you, I'm a big fan of Binance as well abd haven't had any issue with the exchange in the last 2-3 years. Aside from the occasional outages and maintenance especially at times when there's an increased volatility in market prices, I haven't had problems with binance. I'd like to point out that it sucks when these outages happen because I can't close out my positions and get presented with liquidation notices. That's one area binance has fallen short in recent times.  I'm currently considering trying out a new exchange, possibly Houbi. Not because Binance is bad because I heard there are other promising projects that are listed there which aren't available on binance. So I just want to take advantage of it.

Btw, you forgot to mention ftx. It's a good exchange and with zero withdrawal fees which can save users a lot of money.

Those are the exact reasons I've actually moved some of my money to Binance. The fees are quite low, thus you can save quite a lot of money in the long term. Currently, my main Exchange is Bitstamp, the fees there are outrageous for the average user/trader (0.5%). I was actually shocked to see how much I've spent on trading fees.

I've also used Kraken in the past, which isn't bad at all, the fees are alright. However, I'm not really fond of the layout, plus they often have downtime on bull market incidents.

Actually, I heard the same thing happen to someone here I just can't remember the title of the thread.
He also sent almost all personal documents but in the end, his account blocked.

I have some of the BTC on Xapo earn from faucets before and I'm sure it will also happen to me if I attempt to recover my wallet. I'm not desperate to submit my documents and we don't know they might use our documents for scamming purposes.

Just adding this old thread.

-Xapo wallet sucks. Stole $10 worth of Bitcoin until I provide all types of ID's

Why not directly ask them through their email and ask about this issue here's the email support@xapo.com
Just got an idea from this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5197675.0 who solved the same issue.
Can't really say that I'm glad that I'm not alone. Their support was a pain in the ass to start with, I had a few mBTC from faucets too. It's not a tremendous amount, but why should I let them have it? I could use of some extra cash, that I'd put back into holding more Bitcoin. I uploaded all my documents just to block me right when my verification wasn't "enough" for them.

Saw the thread, but if I am not mistaken, it's a slightly different case. I've contacted them already using their form on the website. Will also try emailing them using the one you mentioned.

Thanks!

Haven't replied here for a while but wanted to catch-up!
The response measures taken within my region have now eased, things are a little better now. Retail shops have re-opened and curfew has been changed from 6 p.m to 9 p.m.

Nationwide, things have taken a turn for the worse, surpassing 2.000 cases yesterday, and this number is expected to rise in the very near future.
3137  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Elon Musk looking to buy more Bitcoin ? on: February 23, 2021, 08:08:19 PM
I wouldn't be surprised at all to be honest. Lots of major investors will take advantage of such correction in order to obtain more, when (And if) the price rise again. Musk will be one of them for sure, let's keep in mind that he has the ability to impact the market.

I'm trying to remain confident about the market, that it will be over soon or that they will eventually recover. Maybe not in a week or two, but in the near future.

What is a good cryptocurrency course for me to get a holistic grasp of everything and which will explain all of the technical terms in detail? And what are the sciences needed for one to understand the ins and outs of crypto meticulously? (ex: cryptography, finance).
I've created a topic with quite a few cryptocurrency courses from renowned universities from around the globe. Moreover, professional certificates are distributed if you pass successfully.

Make sure to check it out, you'll find the most known/best ones around, I've done my research.

3139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is altcoin mining still a thing? on: February 22, 2021, 09:49:02 PM
Its still a thing (as others have mentioned ETH) but its not quite the same as 2017/2018.  Back then new shitcoins were popping up daily, along with a steady stream of coins that may be more profitable depending on what GPU you had.  Those days are pretty much gone.  A lot of those coins went to asic and there isn't the influx of new coins.  Right now ETH is about the only game in town if you have a card with more than 4 GB of RAM.
Ethereum was gaining ground fast when I stopped mining. It was already becoming the most profitable way to mine, while the other algorithms (I remember Decred and a few others) were starting to be unprofitable to run older rigs.
It's kinda too late to build a mining rig right now because does graphics card have skyrocketed in price, it's like using the money that can buy 3 graphics card to buy one right now is just better to invest your money in altcoins rather than thinking about getting GPUS for mining..

Incorrect
I'm not quite sure if I'd build a rig now for the whole purpose of mining. My PC has a malfunctioning motherboard and could use some upgrade, in the meantime, my laptop doesn't meet my needs. Thus, I could combine these two needs to mine  and simultaneously repair my computer.
3140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone bought BTC at $6K yesterday at an exchange and they want it back on: February 22, 2021, 02:28:18 PM
Quite an interesting story.  but I wonder how this sell order went through from those buy orders? I somehow have the same view as franky1.   Anyway, applying their Terms and Condition

21. Exchange Services

v. Orders, once executed, are final and irreversible.

There is no way PDAX has the right to go after a finished transaction.  It wasn't the buyer's fault nor he exploited the platform.
Correct, even if they do get a lawyer against the buyer, their terms of service would contradict their claims. Thus, I doubt that any action can or will be taken against the buyer, it's probably a mere attempt to scare and intimidate him in order to return the amount of Bitcoin he purchased. In the end, if the user doesn't fall for it, it's easy to say that nothing is going to happen.
