The Arduino open-source microcontroller platform can be programmed and equipped to perform a nearly endless list of functions. It's the best all-around centerpiece to a modern electronics project. Arduino is best used for is straight-up fun - the open design means Arduino board is suitable for almost all projects, and add-on "shields" extends its abilities with ease. The Arduino Duemilanove ("2009") is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328. It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything required to support the microcontroller, simply connect it to computer with USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started. USB cable for connecting PC is included. The Duemilanove is the latest series of USB Arduino boards

3124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin App in the App Store on: June 09, 2011, 01:47:08 AM
Got it!  I would like to see more, but of course for free it is great.  I would like to see real timeish prices at the bigger exchanges, block #, difficulty and blocks to difficulty change on one screen.  Another screen would be open orders at MTGOX and TRADEHILL.  I will tip if this happens.
3125  Other / Meta / Re: Require a registration fee for the Bitcoin Forum? on: June 09, 2011, 01:43:51 AM
I suggest posting limits for the first few days, and limited boards such as the help areas.  If your first posts are crap, FUD or spam then you could only have posted in the help section and not the entire board.

3128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Worldwide Exclusive: New Competitor to MtGox: http://TradeHill.com on: June 08, 2011, 08:59:59 PM
I did all that to begin with, and I can't see any form.
Click BTC then the line with bitcoins shows up.  Click on that line for the form.
3129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Worldwide Exclusive: New Competitor to MtGox: http://TradeHill.com on: June 08, 2011, 08:56:23 PM
I've noticed a small oversight.  There does not seem to be any way for a user to deposit in bitcoins, there is only the FAQ that tells the reader generally how this is done, and not a link to the market's bitcoin receiving address to actually do so.
Deposit coins by selecting deposit funds, then selecting BTC.  Then you need to fill out the form and go to the dashboard for the address.  It is a little convoluted and should be improved there.

I did sign up.  I would say it looks pretty good too.  I have not deposited funds yet but wow are there a hell of a lot of withdrawal choices!

I guess the fact that MTGOX took in more then  in $30,000 fees in a day was enough to spur some competition.  Smiley

3133  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5970 Black Edition VERY HOT on: June 08, 2011, 11:25:16 AM
Many of these cards benefit from downclocking the memory speed.  This helps reduced the total heat produced by the card, and for reasons I don't technically understand, this can positively effect hashrate.  When I downclocked the memory on my ati 5830 XOC's to 300, and later 200, I noticed a useful temperature drop, and a slight increase in hashing speed.

+1

I have never had increased hashrate from downclocking, but the heat is lower and that is what you need.  You do not want to kill your cards VRM (and therefore in essence you whole card).  I also use MSI afterburner to lower the voltage which makes a big difference in the heat as well.
3134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you envision the future use of Bitcoin? on: June 08, 2011, 02:10:01 AM
I envisioned it as a micro transaction haven.  I can sell my $1.49 items with almost no 'financial friction'.  How could I sell a $1.49 item and make money with paypal taking 30 cents off the top?  Paypal can take as much as 15% on small transactions.  So far it has worked well for me.

Of course bitcoin is much greater then micro-transactions.
3135  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Don't Mine on an iMac! on: June 08, 2011, 02:03:49 AM
Overheating happens, but usually the motherboard powers it down before anything like that happens...

Apple iMacs are known for video chip heat issues.  The design is wonderful looking (and I own one) but it is a lot of computer with a small set of fans.  You can run it hard, and just playing games heats my whole machine up.  I would not mine on a iMac or even visit a site that mines in the browser for long (minutes or even an hour should be ok, all night long no).

3138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins is doomed to fail because everyone is hoarding, no one is spending. on: June 07, 2011, 09:36:07 AM
People are spending bitcoins on my site though I do find it to be faster when the price is dropping.
3139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Too late to start a mining rig? on: June 07, 2011, 04:03:16 AM
I just purchased some parts from NewEgg and TigerDirect. Is it too late to start mining? :C

NewEgg will take 2 days to get here, while 3 days with TigerDirect.

Also, should I start with a lot of hardware? Or start small and buy more as you earn more Bitcoins.
I asked that question as well but I do not have enough to start tomorrow Sad I would say go for it if you can start before the next difficulty increase, because I bet that one will be 70-90% increase...

The difficulty can not increase 70-90%.  If there was a supply of video cards it would make economic sense to buy them but they are sold out in most places.  A 70% increase would need to be 70% of the 5 terrahashes already out there.  I think difficulty will go up at a max of 30%.

Yea.  +1 on that.
