2861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The World's First Bitcoin Luxury Wrist Watch! on: September 03, 2011, 03:01:03 AM

Nice custom strap...price is way too high for a 7750.  If you want to spend 1/2 that, try www.ball.com and find truly luminous watches. I think $650 tops for the watch and $100 bucks for the strap is upper reasonable.

I was under the impression a real 7750 movement alone was more then $600 new.  It would be quite hard to do with normal profit for a whole nice watch for under $1000.

$325 + $573 taxes & fees = $898 USD  per person

Too bad the taxes and fees are more then the ticket for me!

Thank you very much!  I will attempt to get this running tonight!  This is a great contribution to the community and will help a lot of commerce happen.

So how many people lost money here?
2865  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin bling and swag on: August 31, 2011, 02:43:29 AM
I have a few products that say bitcoin with a bitcoin logo.  My most popular is the embroidered polo:

http://www.cryptoanarchy.us/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=51

Currently about 3.3 bitcoins shipped in the USA.

I also have a QR code tshirt and the simple tshirt for 2 BTC shipped USA.

2866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Input Requested for Possible Bitcoin Convention on: August 30, 2011, 10:09:55 PM
San Fran, LA, Vegas, Chicago, Orlando, DC, Austin, New Orleans, Boston....  Basically any big US city that would have a core group of locals using Bitcoin for a larger turnout.  I am all for Bitcoin events overseas, but it would be far less likely for me to go due to cost.
I would not think anything sooner then two months to allow people willing to come to make plans.

The fact that we allow posts like:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38916.0

without banning is just absurd to me.

You're calling for increased regulation while at the same time promoting a site with "Anarchy" in the name?

How does this even work?   Huh
And this again shows the EXACT problem with the forums here.

You just attacked me and distracted from the original topic of the conversation.

The topic is smear campaigns and character assassination.  And I pointed out one of the worst messages that has been allowed to stand.  I am indeed for admins taking action in this case of the above message.

I think this thread is an important and healthy. Bruce's salacious, gay lifestyle spills onto these pages like a smelly, heap of entrails, and we are revolted. We condemn the acts and in so doing we distance ourselves from the man and thus purge our system from something unhealthy.

It's certainly better that these facts emerge here instead of a banker rag.

Speak for yourself.

I'm gay. I don't condemn him for being gay. I don't condemn anyone else for being straight. Or gay. Or bi.

I also don't condemn him for anything he hasn't been proven to have done.

If you think you're going to be purging Bitcoin of gay users, though, think again. Every single friend I have gotten into Bitcoin is as homosexual as I am. Well, unless you count the one who's bisexual.

And I don't care if you or Bruce are gay. But the point's been made quite well that Bruce's choice of locations seems designed to satisfy his prurient interests as much as to promote bitcoin. I don't want him to do this.

Then don't go.  But leave it at that.

I do not see how the OP would not be banned for the posting with the title on this post.  This kind of stuff is just wrong.
2871  Other / Meta / Re: Are smear campains and character assasination OK on these forums? on: August 30, 2011, 11:31:58 AM
This is a witch hunt.

you guys will just burn yourselves and your own houses in the process.

while whomever is behind it is getting lulz.

+1

Lots of innuendo and outright slander.  The posts on this board by members have already done more damage then Bruce is being accused of.

Phone software is not the same thing as a phone model. As a phone model the iphone has done well.

But the Samsung Galaxy II S is better. For example, it has a OLED display. And has better CPU and RAM
Better?  Most reviewers do not think so.  Different yes.  The sammy has a bigger screen, and if you want that over display quality then it wins, if you want display quality over size, then the retina display is hard to beat.

http://www.knowyourmobile.com/blog/921534/samsung_galaxy_s2_woe_as_screen_defect_persists.html

Also the manufacturing quality has had problems.  In the beginning a few iphones had temporarily yellowing which went a way on its own, but nothing like the current failure rate of the 2s with its persistent yellowing.

Just got power pack over the night, sometime after 1 am.

Most of my rigs are down due to now power.  4 ghz offline
2875  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Going offline for hurricane irene on: August 28, 2011, 10:53:30 AM
1/5 of my miners down due to lack of power. Written on my iPhone here in darkness.

So your power is out, but only 20% of your miners are down?
Call me crazy, but I would expect 100% of your miners to be down right now.
Even with a $160 brand-name UPS you only get a few minutes of power when you're powering several video cards...

I take it your generator could only handle so many of them  Wink

Multiple locations.  I have a gen but will not mine on it as it is needed for fridge.  This could be days.

Do-Over Coin. The coin life-cycle is one day and starts over the next day. Early adopter problem solved.
Lets call that one DejaCoin.

2878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal > Coins on: August 28, 2011, 02:17:15 AM
It's a simple fact the BTC is Paypal competitor right now, that's why they have taken this stance. What is Paypal's stance on pre-paid access? I think a MTGOX code would qualify as this if not BTC outright.

What is Paypal's stance on Linden Dollars from Second Life?

They do not support virtual currencies at all.  If you sell BTC for praypal, the customer can charge back without any problem or proof and the customer will always win with a virtual currency case.

2879  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm the Bitcoin Roadtrip guy. I'm planning to live in Portland, OR on BTC alone. on: August 27, 2011, 09:15:14 PM
Hugely disappointing if he ends up just exchanging bitcoins into dollars for anything.

I don't think that's what he's planning, but even earning only coins would be pretty cool. Paying a few major life expenses in coins would be impressive imo, but it's kind of silly at this point to insist the power company takes coins directly or else it's a fail.

In Portland you can get Clear 4g internet, and I can provide it for bitcoin.  No USD required.

Plato, did you ever get those free stickers I sent you?
2880  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Steve Jobs resigns on: August 27, 2011, 06:15:11 PM
Really?  They make more profit then all of the other smartphone makers combined.  The Iphone 4 was the top seller in 2010 and is looking like it will be for 2011 too.  How are they loosing?

Because Android had more growth than iOS for example? Apple is the only company that sells phones with iOS. It does not matter that it has the most sold phone. The majority of the rest of the companies are choosing Android and in aggregate Android is growing more than iOS. As I said above, Apple alone could not compete against all the vendors together in the PC area and that is why it lost to MS, and the same is happening now in the mobile area and that is why it has already lost to Android.

Apple iPhone and iOS is a thing of the past and the present, but not the future. Because of the way Apple operates it has already lost.

EDIT: I have never owned a iPhone or an Android phone. Im still using a Sony Erikson. I dont own stocks either at Google or Apple neither.

Of course Android has had more growth.  Android is a race to the bottom in terms of pricing.  But Apple has had pretty much uninterrupted growth as well.  And when you are selling very few (as Android as doing in the beginning), growing is easy. The fact that Apple grows at rates like 30% AT IT'S CURRENT SIZE is simply amazing.

The satisfaction rate with Android is much lower then with iPhones.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Apples-iOS-tops-the-customer-satisfaction-charts-Android-holds-third-place_id20512
There are many Android owners who switch up to the iPhone, where there are fewer who go the other way.

I think there is a place for both products, but to say that IOS is a thing of the past and has lost is  just plain wrong.
