haha, ITT Feathercoiners are being hypocrits. It's funny how you guys ignore all arguments against FeatherCoin, but when another Litecoin clone pops up a week later, you guys call it a scam / pump & dump. ROFL. You guys reek of bullshit so hard that I can smell you on my end of the computer.. It's 'cute' how you think that only thing behind a coin is the tech specs. Come visit the FTC community sometime, there's people working hard at moving it forward. I know, it's the 'old school 1337 scam coin chicken rise' type stuff that people love spending their day doing here, and that's fine. I'm just recommending stepping outside the bubble for minute.. maybe you'll see something you like.
It's funny how you call Litecoin a scam coin, you just lost any credibility that you may of had. People will say the same thing about Feathercoin in a couple years, that is an inherent problem with cryptocoins... there's no easy way around not having "early adopters". CHNcoin will have more total coins than feathercoin, 462 million compared to 380 million, and its "blazing fast confirmations" are even more "blazing fast" with block targets of 1 minute! At the moment a block is being found approximately every 2-3 seconds. How's that for "blazing fast"? It's also getting attention faster than Feathercoin did at launch. It's only been 7 hours since the launch and the forum is already filled up with threads about CHN. I predict it'll be on an exchange within a week. Basically it makes Feathercoin completely redundant. For early adoption go to CHNcoin, for stability go to Litecoin. And with the upcoming difficulty increase things are only going to get worse for Feathercoin. What does Feathercoin still offer? Ultimately I hope that new useless coins like these come so quickly that no one has enough time to amass large quantities of coins before the next one comes along. It'll remove the incentive to do it and then people can get back to actually innovating. You make me laugh if you honestly think CNCoin will be used for transactions other than exchange rate gambling. 1 min blocks, that should make for an interesting block chain length in a years time or so if it lasts that long. Why stop there, lets have a 1sec block target.
But I don't understand why it was created at all, let alone why people are spending effort moving it forward. Since it is a direct copy of Litecoin you can only move it 'forward' at the expense of Litecoin. Why not spend that effort promoting Litecoin if you're so concerned about the crypto community? Or is it only the Feathercoin community you're concerned about?
It's just another pump and dump, many here will fall for it. You're such a hyprocrit erk.. You blindly support Feathercoin, yet when another Litecoin clone pops up all the sudden new copy cat chains are scams and pump and dumps? Ya OK buddy...

Just to show how stupid Feathercoin is, I think I will support ChinaCoin. It really is no different from Feathercoin, both are copy cats. Long live communism!

Current winning bids josh4580 - 5 GH @ 9.62 BTC drlatino999 - 10 GH @ 19.24 BTC
I am not the auction police. I am confused by these bids. Are we talking about 5GH for 9.62BTC, or 5GH for 48.1BTC? Most auctions I have watched on this site is (Item Qty @ Price Each). Meaning: Total = Item Qty * Price Each If I were to bid, I'd like to know the translation to total BTC, so that I am not misunderstood. Is the OP willing to sell integer GH values, or multiples of 10GH values? I apologize for confusion, but I am only recently graduated from newbie jail. I agree, it can be confusing compared to most other auctions on this site.. I only copy and pasted the bids earlier in the format the bidders submitter. To avoid confusion, I will convert the auction to this format (Item Qty @ Price Each.) Everyone please only bid in the following format: Gh wanted @ price per Gh As Cycloid stated, each bid must be for a minimum of 5 Gh.Current winning bids:josh4580 - 5 GH @ 1.924 BTC drlatino999 - 10 GH @ 1.924 BTC skidelo - 20 GH @ 1.924 BTC

So much negative towards FeatherCoin..
You guys started it by spamming your FC agenda in the ALT sub forum whilst trying to cram FC adoption down everyone's throats. Meanwhile, thwarting conversation about more promising projects and other coins due to the flood of constant FC threads... All because you want to be rich early adopters. It is offensive to people like me that really want the best for the crypto coin ecosystem, and have it be improved upon and fully developed to the best of its capabilities. Copy cats do not help with this goal.

I just wanted to point out your "logic" for FC being 1/4 the price of LTC is quite flawed. There are many more factors that determine value other than the rate a coin is minted.
And the fact that you guys actually believe what you are typing and try to defend the reasoning is just beyond my comprehension.
You guys must have invented time machines or something to be so certain.

wow.. it seems the average IQ of a Feathercoiner is -1 This is exactly why FTC will rise and rise and rise.
Implemented in major markets? = Price Goes up It's not implemented into a major exchange.. cryptonit and BTER are far from "major exchanges".
Get to be used as currency without conversion?= Price Goes up Lol... most of the people mining this stuff are rushing to the exchanges to convert FCs into something more useful.
Difficulty Rise fast? = Price Goes up Just like all other crypto currencies, it is a known fact to most people that have been around the community longer than 2 weeks that price does not follow difficulty.
Eventualy Traded for USD?=Price Goes up" How does trading it into USD make the value go up?
Also, there are no guarantees any of that happens... only speculation (from people who own a lot of FCs.. big surprise there.)

Here is the math he is doing: say we have 2 units of processing power on LTC. LTC pays out at 50 coins per block. LTC is worth about $4.00
say we have 2 units of processing power on FTC. FTC pays out at 200 coins per block. LTC is worth about $1.00 (because 4x more coins are generated for the same amount of processing power, hence the 1/4 worth of the coin)
Except that doesn't take into account the complete lack of Feathercoin accepting services and stores, the fact FC only has 2 exchanges, the Litecoin community dwarfs the FC community by a large amount, and there are a ton more projects being developed for LTC than FC.

The FTC price is pathetic atm. about 0.0013BTC whilst LTC is 0.03BTC
FTC should be twice that, rising to around 0.25LTC when the difficulty matches LTC.
Give me some of what you're smoking, share the wealth!

When were you projecting / guestimating receipt of the Batch 3 units, and start up of the mining process?
I will get them online as soon as I receive them from Avalon... I have the place and the power/cooling infrastructure ready to go as soon as they arrive. Batch 3 was set to deliver on May 5th, but seeing as though Avalon has delayed Batch 2, I am guessing they will start shipping Batch 3 later in May. How late? That's anyone's guess, there's only so much you can do with incomplete information.

If an ALT coin could do something good for the world, on top of being a store of value and vehicle for commerce, I think it would instantly be popular. It makes since... we might as well put all this equipment everyone's using to good use. Otherwise, we're just polluting the planet for the sake of currency. I'd like to solve some world problem like cancer, et al oh.. I posted in the wrong thread lol. <facepalm> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190401.0

Now instead of the block reward halving after x amount of years, it doubles or increases by a random number in a specific range. Once the block reward reaches it's peak, it starts halving or decreases by x amount. Eventually the block reward decreases where very few coins are being mined.
Don't get me wrong, I like your concept of a new innovative coin. However, if it goes like you say... inflation until a limit is reached then deflation for the rest of time, this is not necessarily anti early adopter like I think your intentions are. Someone would only have to hoard his coins during the Inflation era, then sell in the deflation era. People that buy in during the deflation era will complain, just like people do now about established coins and their early adopters.

Peleus, I guess we will agree to disagree.
Opinion plays a large part in most of these arguments, and my opinion is different.
Arguing that FC is equally as innovative as LTC is an insult to Coblee who spent a lot of his valuable time implementing the scrypt algorithm into Litecoin. The fact that FC did not have to do anything at all to implement Scrypt into FC is quite less innovative IMO.
I disagree with your assertation that if SHA-256 fails, then all cryptographic algorithms fail. They are all different, perhaps a vulnerability is found in one that does not exist in the others.
I agree Litecoin is not particularly innovative itself, but that is not why I support it either. It is here to stay and a lot of people support it, so my support is kind of like making lemonade out of lemons. Also, LTC is more useful to me in a lot of ways than "just because it's more popular". That is just your opinion.
Quicker transactions are quicker transactions. Supposedly they are less secure, but after ~8 months of using Litecoin, I have never been wronged or cheated.

There's been a strong push by the authors to get FTC accepted for goods/services. Very few alt coins can say that. But yeah, difficulty is about to double yet again. It's still not clear to me why any alt coin has value to be honest.
Difficulty is only going up because it is overvalued and extremely profitable to mine. If value crashes, so will the network speed. The same could be said for any other ALT currency though really (except for maybe LTC).

This is a wonderful idea.
I would put my full support behind a coin whose intention is to help others!

Litecoin changed much more of the Bitcoin code than Feathercoin changed of the Litecoin code. To compare the changes of FC's code to the changes of LTC's code is crazy. FC was developed with much less effort and less innovation than Litecoin.
The benefit to scrypt is just as you said... it's different. If somewhere down the road a devastating error is found in the SHA-256 algorithm, then it is useful to have another peer to peer anonymous decentralized currency that is built on a different hashing algorithm. The existence and growth of Litecoin is beneficial to seeing that the ideals that Bitcoin was founded upon will be around for a long time (and perhaps even longer than Bitcoin itself). Again, Litecoin is not "simply just a copy cat of Bitcoin." Yes, it shares a lot of the same code, but that is because it is based off of Bitcoin. Major parameters were changed, the hashing algorithm changed, and block speed changed. Also- it was one of the first coins to do this, now as time goes on many other coins are trying to do the same thing adding no real value to the ecosystem. Litecoin had a much fairer release than almost every single other ALT currency as well, giving a few days notice before any mining took place.
I agree LTC makes it harder to incorporate crypto currencies into ecommerce because implementing 2 coins is harder than implementing one. But, I see it as that Litecoin is here to stay, it was/is and always will be the most popular ALT currency. Therefore, it should be embraced for the good things it can do and provide for the community. Any further dilution of the crypto currencies from this point on should only be because the new coin is actually an improvement on existing coins and/or really different.

Do these condos come with free WIFI and cable TV? Sorry.. I couldn't help myself. It's hard for me (and most likely potential investors) to take this seriously with your unconventional naming.

By that argument, why do you support litecoin over bitcion?
I don't support Litecoin over Bitcoin, I like them both equally. But, I know what you're asking.. I think that there is room for more than one crypto currency. Litecoin is quite different from Bitcoin when you get down to the details, so it provided something new and different. I like that transactions confirm quicker. I don't think that there's any need to copy proven crypto currencies a hundred times over only changing a few parameters though. That will do more harm than good. I think there's room for other crypto currencies other than Bitcoin and Litecoin, however I think we should support and focus on IMPROVING on our current currencies rather than copying them.
