3141  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I want to start a contest like " how to win btc from girlbtc?" on: June 02, 2015, 04:51:02 PM
You should maybe move this thread to games and rounds, more people will participate there. You should also state the prize amount.

What he should do is hire someone that knows how to make websites and change it because it looks ugly and its not even working properly, for example when i click ''choose one girl'' it takes me to ''personal info''

I dont even understand a thing from their site, making it more clear would attract way more people.

functionality comes before visual appeal, and in this case it seems the site has neither up to par with the standards of other gambling sites, i agree hiring someone to revamp the site first would be a wise move. posting in the "services" section to hire a developer might be a good idea.
3142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Opinions wanted on new hard drives for the upcoming block size change... on: June 02, 2015, 04:15:23 PM
Do you really need fast hard drives to write a block to every 10 minutes? I guess a very reliable server drive at 5400 rpm would be more durable and energy efficient for this type of task?

True, 6-8 TB does indeed seem a tad excessive for running a full node, assuming thats the intention here, but it may be that op is planning for the long term, or using the storage space for other media. Either way, the general consensus seems to be that Seagate is a definite no-go.
3143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Opinions wanted on selecti new hard drives for the upcoming block size change... on: June 02, 2015, 02:47:43 PM
did some quick looking around on hard drives, one on the "customers also bought" section looked alright, what about this one? the max capacity is a tad smaller (6 GB down from Cool though.

Do you know the read/write speed, overall quality, average lifespan or any other differences between Seagate and Western Digital drives?

Thanks.

Speaking from past experience, WD drives are incredibly reliable. However, the drives I am currently using a Hitachi drive and are probably the most reliable by far; I have been using a 4 TB drive for my PC around 3 years now and have had no problems with it whatsoever.

It should be noted that r/w speeds may depend on the specifications of each drive (spindle speed / SATA) as well as the accessories used (cables).

I also did a quick search as I do not have much experience using seagate drives, but this may dissuade you from using seagate:

3144  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get best ROI from ad networks Help needed.... on: June 02, 2015, 01:43:04 PM
You will not get rich from advertisement on your site.  It takes a MASSIVE amount of impressions to make money.

And yes its better if you have people click through ad's.  But very few click through compared to impression.

I think OP may be asking how to get the most views out of advertising their ad, not hosting advertisements, but I may be wrong.

You may want to try advertising on those pay-to-view/click sites that require users to be exposed to an ad to receive their earnings, might be a good place to start.
3145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mechanisms ro prevent crime on: June 02, 2015, 01:37:45 PM
what mechanisms should here have to prevent criminal actions?

What crimes are you referring to?  This is kinda very very broad and could be a lot of topis.  So hard to even give an anwser.

Like crimes btc is used  in?  Crimes when its stolen?  All depends which one.

Exactly, OP isnt providing enough information here to get an answer they're looking for; are we talking real life or on this forum in general? One real life example I can think of is requiring cryptography to prove your identity; could've come in handy with the social engineering hack on the forum recently.

http://www.coinspeaker.com/2015/06/01/switzerland-enterpreneurs-create-bitcoin-bank-9625/
This Swiss group is going to start a bitcoin only bank.

"will provide all traditional banking services, but only with the use of the digital currency"

Clearly, they don't understand what bitcoin is.

Keep in mind that these are the Swiss of all people, and banks do not just hold your money for you and let it sit around, they always invest your money to turn large profits, and give you a little bit of that profit as 'interest' for letting them use your money. These Swiss bankers may have plans to either launder money (shady as the swiss banking business is) or to start a large scale mining project, who knows.
3147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What a relief! Even the rich guys are dumb as hell sometimes on: June 02, 2015, 01:21:09 PM
I have to agree with you, to anyone with a brain this idea is insanely stupid, there is simply no way you can make a lightbulb with network connectivity and enough hashing power to actually turn a profit with the electricity costs. Unless some crazy new ASIC technology is developed along with near-free electricity, there is no way anyone could turn a profit from these. How do you even get the idea of making mining lightbulbs in the first place?

3149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfury light bulb mining on: June 02, 2015, 01:10:35 PM
Probably something that will be expensive and will mine 1 satoshi per hour.
Another waste of energy.

agreed, there isnt enough space in a lightbulb to install both mining hardware and network connection for it to be viable. The energy costs will be ridiculous and the BTC return will be next to nothing.

The other day I noticed "finfisher" in my download file.
Never downloaded this directly and wondered how it got there.
I had no idea what this was, looked it up and found it to be surveillance software.
Deleted it, but not sure if it is gone.

Does anyone know more about this spyware?

finfisher is surveillance software licensed out to government agencies. If you were infected with it you sure as hell wouldn't find out that easy. for sure there would be no trace in your download folder. Maybe you downloaded that file by accident. What file type is it? I bet you accidentally downloaded a PDF from some news website talking about finfisher, I did that by accident with some NSA leak files.
3154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We're getting married! We're going to record it on the blockchain! on: May 31, 2015, 06:02:39 AM
Have you considered using a Bitcoin wedding/engagement ring? TheBTCRing.com
as seen on Engadget http://www.engadget.com/2015/05/21/a-bitcoin-engagement-ring/

Made for the Coinbase Bithack. Yes, this project is serious!

I am currently working on a 3.O version that looks even better!

Haha oh my god that is amazing! how much does it cost?

OP, congratulations to the two of you.

Svemu mora doci kraj pa je dosao kraj i mome "druzenju" sa cryptocoinima. Prodao sam sve i idem u neke druge investicije - plemeniti metali, zemlja, konkretne stvari. Dosta mi je vise
sve ove digitalije i crypto jebacine u mozak, nemam vise zivaca ni BTC pratiti a kamoli altcoine i ostalo.

Good luck!

After 2 years I'm giving up on all things crypto. I have moved to 100% cash and will invest into some other stuff, most likely prescious metals and rare, valuable physical stuff.

Good luck.
3160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]BitcoinPlus (XBC) / RETURN OF THE KING! on: September 28, 2014, 11:14:06 AM
I need a break from all this, it is starting to negatively affect my health. Weather outside is still sunny and hot so it is a perfect time to collect some energy before rains and grey
clouds overtake the daytime. Whatever you guys feel like doing just do it but think twice before putting much money into the deal, whatever it is, and watch out for noob devs.

Offline for a week, cya later!
