Sigh, yeah, I did get a nice 3/1+ upset win in the last round, and then was already halfway there with O'Malley shouldn't have tried to become too smart with that acca. Oliveira down quickly, couldn't get his sub attempt, couldn't land as many blows, completely subdued all over the place, according to stats. Makhachev didn't feel like lingering around too long, did he now?h
3162  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Currency should be Integrated into School Curriculum on: October 23, 2022, 10:37:28 AM
Currency may appear to be a simple and difficult subject to understand for students, but it is in fact, if you look at it in the context of BTC, ETH and other Cryptocurrencies.

Yeah which is why I think general money management, domestic economics, simple things like how not to put yourself into early debt by spending below your means. That's what's much more important than getting kids to understand how currency works... cryptocurrency should certainly form modern curriculum, only as the latest form of money, and to understand that there are alternative concepts of money, that's all.

Otherwise you're just getting people buying BTC for FOMO and hoping to get rish quick. We all know how badly that ends.

With you on NZ!

Didn't realise could put an outright as a leg on acca, think I tried it before but it never let me, though Liverpool's let me down so often I probably would have lost had I done. GL to us both!

Odd seems to low for India while Pakistan is being too much underrated. Though I'm expecting India to win, we should also remember that Pakistan had beaten India on the last match they faced.

Don't know much about cricket but I always know India-Pakistan feels like the biggest rivalry in cricket world, so yeah, PK looks like the value bet.

They've now just set a target of 160 for India, I've no idea if that's good or bad, BBC seems to think India's got the upper hand and odds haven't shifted at all.

Unfortunately I believed in Australia due to their being the host country. Frankly, I didn't even dream of them losing against New Zealand. The 9.80 odd given to New Zealand seems much better to me now.  Grin

You know how much unlucky South Africa is? They are unlikely to win the world cup regardless of how strong their squad is lol. ABD couldn't make a change even  Cheesy

After Australia lost I read that they need to win all of their remaining 4 matches and still may not progress, apparently something similar happened to S Africa last time around. Net run rate seems to be the culprit here (I've no idea how it works but it's something like goal difference?

Be cool to see a final between NZ and SA then, so someone from forum wins!

As others like Danny point out, it's pointless to argue about the value of something after structured society ends. If you can't use it to keep yourself alive and healthy and secure, it's the last thing on your list of priorities.

And we don't even really need to look for fantastical scenarios. In times of personal economic distress, would you be hoarding gold or buying up BTC? Even if at super bargain prices, you'll be paying through the nose for food to feed hungry kids, roof over heads, energy credits to keep warm, etc. You'll be selling whatever cash/fiat/crypto you've got to stay alive.

That's what most people still don't understand or will ever get when talking about "bargain BTC" and predicting how retail buyers will snap things up.

Salah + Haaland, impossible to ignore as part of our MajSev picks, right?
Salah has been quite unreliable this season, just like Liverpool. I think even Roberto Firmino has more goals than him (6)
On the other side, Haaland is absolutely unstoppable!

It's sad that I missed out on this season's fun due to challenges accessing my account. So I will just watch from the sidelines.

Sorry if I've missed all past conversations here but you've reached out to ampera/Tornike already right? He normally sets me right as soon as I've got issues, pretty sure he'll extend the same help to you.

Bobby's got 6 goals already yeah, and that's 1 more than he managed the whole of last season but his value has never really been about getting goals but how he pulls everything into place. All the steals he does in opposition third is gold.

What a card we got on our hands this weekend.
Trying a few bucks on Oliveira even though he is down from 2.8 to ~2.4 in odds.
O'Malley @3.25 (down from @4) gets some hard earned pocket change as well

Haha man, just reading about putting hard-earned pocket change really, really struck a chord with me. Sometimes I'd get an unexpected income from some client chasing hard for months (once even years) and then I dump it on some ill-advised bets. Then after losing I look back on all the hard work doing it and chasing it and ask myself why haha.

Inspired me for an Olievera/Malley acca even thought the odds have gone =(

But still, 9.18 not bad: https://sportsbet.io/sharebetslip/550d2566-8257-4fa5-a85c-89fe3bfe08c2

What happened? Salah only made four successful passes all game. Another Sanchez and Hazard-type player? incoming? Liverpool made Forest look like a prime Barcelona team.

And missed first-time attempts. Many games in a row he's done that if my memory doesn't have holes. Same reason I've been saying since start. We haven't rested our boys, and I mean actual holiday/vacation time. We did that really dumb Thai thing for sponsors of course, understandable, but we played all possible games last season, everyone's just too bloody tired to regain sharpness.

Forest weren't good, we were just poor. It's a bit of a problem we're also experimenting a lot with different formations, but anyway, no excuse, we're just poor, making okay teams look good.

Champions League glory, hopefully, and/or cup progress. Just hope Arsenal don't falter as I expect because City winning again is boring.

Really time to put my Preston North End dreams of miracles to bed after today. Yes, they found a way to put goals into the back of the net again (does penalty and own goal count though I have to ask?), but they've also forgotten how to defend in past several games. Credit to them for keeping on trying, but then to lose a 4th goal in injury time, this is going to hammer them.

Hey, hey, I didn't even realise we had a big game today and my outright pick has smashed Australia to bits, title defence all in tatters now... good news for my Kiwi pick, but bad news for guys like CLS63 whom I still recall backed Australia.

First win to break their 11 year hoodoo against their antipodean neighbours, what a way to do it (I can't understand scores but I can read reports haha).

Anyone else has tickets still riding on this tournament?

Posting again to remind myself:

Sevilla have gone 13 seasons in a row without grabbing the 3 points at the Bernabeu, and they were at their peak in some of those seasons. 10/1 seems about right. Personally I think RM are gonna smash
Now way I would put any bet on Sevilla, they can't win much easier games then this one. And that is also true when they are in good form and currently they are far from that.

Yeah, I'm expecting nothing less than a Real smash, given just how poor Sevilla are this season, this team is ragged and out of ideas, but still, you know, it's anything goes and while I'm not confident enough to put this up as a recommended pick, I still fancy my chances.

Re Fantasy, damn, I'm neglecting it again despite promising not to... just too little motivation on my part to do anything else but picks.

@toma: yep I def pulled the trigger. Wish me luck cause Liverpool just lost ha...

Don't you hate when the 1st game still scoreless at HT? Grr.

Mostly same picks from me as well. I only went for Sccamaca instead of Bowen, Bowen missed the penalty last time around and Sccamaca has some crazy stat like never missed pen in professional career or something so I think he will take over that duty in the club. He is also playing better and better and I believe he is now nailed in the team while Antonio has to wait for his chance from the bench.

Yeah Bowen didn't take a good penalty, only Alisson's second save in Premier League, but it was more about Bowen's predictable and weak shot... but Scamacca had some terrible shots in the last game, at least 2 I can recall where he missed by miles. I'd have taken Antonio too if he's half more fit, can't wait for him and St Maximin to play properly, I love their styles and picking them in my MajSev.

And I'm looking at the score at Flash Score right now and it's still nil - nil and it's almost close to HT.  I think it's Firminho who's gonna get one in.  :/

I normally pick Diaz or Bobby in times when Salah's not on form, and I know I should go for Nunez if/when he plays full 90. Salah still always a great bet as he's also pen taker, and once the floodgates turn back on...

So, what happens to Countinho now that Steven Gerrard has left? Steven was the only one who remained hopeful and attempted to resurrect his career, and he turned down offers from other clubs to play for Villa because of S. Gerrard.

No idea, but yeah they kind of ran him ragged at Villa, he was not only hard running, he was twisting all over the place way too often and way too desperately. Felt so bad for him.

I am usually against manager changes but this one was sort of necessary. It is not just the bad results but total lack of ideas going forward. Villa under Gerard is one of the most boring clubs in Premier League and I avoided their games on purpose.

Yesterday's game against Fulham was just the last drop to push owners into action.

Same here, manager changes not my style, at least not so fast, but I can't really fault this one either. He was given the transfers he asked for -- Villa still played good football though I thought when I watched... just tried to rely on only one or two creative outlets named Coutinho.

^  Yup...  It's almost like they don't have an identity if you watch how they play.  I'm a Gerrard fan and I like that he was loyal to Liverpool during his playing days.  But seeing him as manager and how his Villa squad plays like is a good thing because it almost felt like he's the next in line to be LFC manager after Klopp.  They dodged a bullet there imho.

Who knows what Gerrard can bring to Liverpool? As an ex player I am sure his motivation to managing Liverpool would be at least several times higher than managing Aston Villa, for him Aston Villa was a learning experience which lasted as it lasted but a few things I am sure Gerrard has learned there.

In fact I would like to see someone from Liverpool managing the team, and I would not be sad if Gerrard took over,I think Klopp era has ended in the sense that he has got nothing more to give to the club, for this year this comes especially more true than ever.

I still think Gerrard wasn't quite ready, as I am sure I mentioned last season. I was of course happy for him when he took Villa, and it seemed initially pretty much a match made in heaven, and I know Klopp also eyes him as a successor (if not immediately, then spiritually).

Him helming Liverpool I believe is what the fans and club want, but they all know it's not going to be for a while more. Experience, wisdom, you can only buy those with time.

Big win for Liverpool and we're back in business! I know it's pretty dumb to tempt the gods to get City another loss, at home, no doubt, and to toothless Brighton, no doubt, but I love betting on and against streaks...

100 units at Fairlay on Brighton to WIN vs City @15.84. Other odds: 14.20
Units advantage: 164

Running advantage after 30 bets: +2913 (+164)

agree Napoli and Atalanta were hardly picks for the matter prior to season began
but, that could change for Atalanta even in this round, Lazio will be a tough one to fight

Napoli is playing great on all fronts, but I am not sure if they will make it until the end, especially with WC break, that could change a lot in team forms
Napoli really impressed me so far, even more in CL then in Serie A. Did not actually see a single game from Atalanta this season but I don't consider Lazio as unbeatable, especially away from home and without Immobile. Lazio had some shocking defeats when playing away and the are now without Immobile for couple of months. I sort of think they will be middle of the table team.

Juve with convincing win today, did not expect them to do it easy.

Yeah, despite losing to them, I totally loved watching them play. It's different losing to Real and Ramos injuring our main man, or similar to that manner, losing to a team that plays amazing football, breathless, and reminding you what you used to be able to do so well? You can only admire such opponents.

Unfortunately, I sort of agree Italian teams are worth watching in CL and not so much in the league -- but that's an unfair statement as I only watch a few league games outside of EPL. Napoli-Roma feels like something I should watch (while backing Roma).

Rare day to see both Liverpool and City in the picks, this week, and I know Salah hasn't been up to his usual form lately, but I still feel like he's always going to get on the scoreboard (not to mention we haven't had a penalty in such a long time).

Salah + Haaland, impossible to ignore as part of our MajSev picks, right?
3177  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin Exchange With Unlimited SWIFT Withdrawal on: October 22, 2022, 07:34:13 AM
Bitpanda and Nexo (yes, it's sort of an exchange now) offer both those, depending on your account levels, but I would imagine there are certain thresholds when they'll start asking you to pay or to jump through additional hoops.

I'm probably a very average user, and I mainly do p2p, but for small and non-urgent amounts I sometimes use either to do SEPA/SWIFT, it's free of cost (with a small min limit) but again, I have never tried doing it frequently.

*definitely NOT a recommendation, merely an answer*

Stopped looking at Juventus upsets these days as odds seem a bit unfair. Empoli away is barely 8/1, for example, shows you just how far and how hard the Old Lady has fallen... going to be hard for me to pick a midtable team for that kind of odds though.

Also, didn't realise there were still 2 unbeaten teams in Serie A, and they're not either of the Milans or Juve. Pretty special season so far, hm?
3179  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: October 21, 2022, 02:02:08 PM
Too small sample size Slam, but glad you're getting inspiration for those wins, it's proven for me, and it makes me happier to bet regularly like that and provide a lot of good cushion for my other betting which is more emotional (and hence, more loss-inducing haha).

Great bounceback win from Barca last night, I love seeing Fati on the scoresheet. I'd back Sevilla to beat Real next but for me the odds feel a bit nonsense (seriously, given their form vs Real, and away, does anyone seriously expect us to bet for only 10/1? The answer is yes for me of course haha).
3180  Other / Archival / Re: Q4 2022. What to expect from bitcoin? on: October 21, 2022, 12:19:40 PM
Yeah, so much for Uptober huh? I still think the fact that Bitcoin's never lived through economic turmoil such as we currently have -- and I won't pretend I don't think it'll only get worse before it gets better for everyone around the world -- means we cannot reliably hope that BTC market trends will shrug off the 3 consecutive quarters with a Christmas rally.

As for Q4 which is a short term move, am bullish on this one and I see us closing the year around $21k-$25k before the big move Wink

For me closing at 21k is just extending consolidation, still can't tell -- again because of the shitstorm happening around us economically -- if this results in massive drawdown or energised rally.

$25k closing would make me feel a lot better for sure.
