you need the wallet.dat from your netbook
should be in
c:\users\name\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin
The address is a hash of a public key. the "password" - private key is in that file

This all correct, knowing the receiving address alone doesnt help you, you need the private key which is in that file (wallet.dat). So if you lose your wallet.dat file you lose your bitcoins.  So make sure to keep a couple backups of it from here on out.

Just gonna leave this here.
https://lastpass.com/

My password is NTFS encryped and stored on my HD, only accessed when I need to log in. I don't see how LastPass will make this any better.

Then you aren't the target audience for the post   Wink

Well is it a surprise? The speculation forum is the least productive forum section in the entire forum so how is this surprising again? Smiley

Not really surprised no, just hoped for better numbers.  Of course it would be heavily biased being in speculation.
3185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Daily Speculation Poll] :: Spending bitcoins on: January 28, 2012, 01:00:42 AM
The results are sobering. A lot that just don't spend, or spend very little.
3186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many clicks have you gotten from Feed Ze Bird users? on: January 28, 2012, 12:52:34 AM
aren't their tweety birds already dead?

They worked that out.

Ouch, well it's always a gamble. Go big or go home.

Maybe he's really short at the moment and is hoping to push the price lower as someone tries to "liquidate" him? LOL

3190  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gewures disclosed position on: January 27, 2012, 09:28:59 PM
Leverage too?
3191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: All The Fees on: January 27, 2012, 09:22:51 PM
His example is $1K, not $1M.

Can I get Lasik for bitcoins somewhere?
Probably, may or may not be a real doctor though  Wink
3192  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoinica for noobs? on: January 27, 2012, 08:01:17 PM
Leverage your 1btc and you can have 10btc

Don't do this.  Going 10:1 gives you no room for volatility (upping your leverage decreases your margins), and that's shooting yourself in the foot with the way the market is going lately.
3193  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there anything like BitcoinSpinner for iOS? on: January 27, 2012, 07:46:12 PM
I came to post BitPak, but if it doesn't do it for you I don't know what will.
3194  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Lost Coins on: January 27, 2012, 07:45:29 PM
21 million is just an arbitrary number, no need to stress over a few in the hole.

I wouldn't take a couple people arguing semantics and some off topic crap as everybody. People who get mad and complain about the manipulator are usually just angry that they lost money and need something besides themselves to blame. Besides, the OP in that thread is hardly conducive to getting a good discussion on charting analysis if that's what you were hoping for. Most of them are just trolling you cause they see how bothered you get.
3197  Economy / Speculation / Re: the MaNiPuLaToR on: January 27, 2012, 06:32:16 PM
but yeah no one 'believes' in charts here

What gives you that idea?
3198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BIP 16 / 17 in layman's terms on: January 27, 2012, 06:29:29 PM
why is satoshi treated like some supreme being?
"satoshi did that , so he must be right"
"Maybe satoshi thought this so we shouldn't do that"
this is becoming religious

It's his project, just because he's not here doesn't mean his friends and coworkers are gonna undo conscious decisions that were made in development. Some of them were made to fix exploits.
3199  Economy / Speculation / Re: simple chart for lemmings on: January 27, 2012, 06:23:46 PM
I "do no" how to read this stuff

is it going up or down ?

Down then up.  Then down again.  Bow low, sell high.
3200  Economy / Speculation / Re: the MaNiPuLaToR on: January 27, 2012, 06:21:22 PM
Completely agree. The Manipulator is an excuse for bad trading so you can self-victimize.

Also, I like arepo, please continue posting. Much better than a FlipPro. Grin

Can't argue with that. Maybe I'm giving people too much credit when I assume "The Manipulator" talk is tongue in cheek.  Wink
