well, its in my backyard, so BBQ is 10ft away from them.

i have to say that the fridge solution works great. 15 miners, and they are really silent. I could have used this in my house itself if i wanted to, so definately its a superb basement-solution as well.

profit...

hm... Lets change subject, okay... ?  Roll Eyes

Does it affect the dutch/german node as well?
No real insight yet as i'm at work, but i can see most miners went offline, and right now they're starting again.

Guys tell me tell me that I made the correct choice,I just bought 68 refurbished avalonminer 741 with 1 year warranty for 14000 euros, thats 510 th, so I paid 25 euros per TH,if I had gone with the S9i new with 3 months warranty,I would have bought with 14000 14 miners with a total of 196 TH which is 72 euro per TH.So I already have 110TH in the pool and I will reach 620 by the end of june,I hope i made the right choice.

If you have free energy, its a great choice  Huh

Why compare with the S9? Should compare with v9 and T9
324  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptouniverse - Official Canaan Distributor on: June 05, 2018, 10:22:37 PM
so actually twice the price of bitmain, roughly.

The 741 is more like a expensive doorstop... 8Th at 1150watts...  Cheesy

Point taken. Seems I may haveta shut down during the heat of the day and resume at night.

there are passive radiators. If you have a small well, you can use underground well water to have it flow through, and cool the air towards your minders.
Quite cheap, only cost is a small electric well pump of 75-100 watts.

Wow, 95 confirms in 11 hours.  Tomorrow's difficulty change is going to suck.

?

I still dont understand this. Would you care to explain or point where to find an explanation?

Thnx.

BTC is designed to find a block every 10 minutes and it uses the difficulty to control this.  When he says "95 confirms in 11 hours" that would be 95 blocks in 660 minutes or 1 block every 6.9 minutes.  That too fast for bitcoin so the difficulty should go up to adjust this time back up to 10 minutes.  Actually, 11 hours is way too small of a sample but that is the general idea.

The bitcoin network readjusts difficulty every 2016 blocks or approximately every 2 weeks.

Aahhhh, superb explained!  Thanks!
Didn't know it was variable and time related...
So, actually there has been added huge haspower recenly since last difficulty increase. Can i state such?

DGB is very unprofitable for GPU miners at the moment because of the ASICs. The dev team should make a stance and show the community that they are going to keep DGB decentralized.

Scrypt - ASIC

SHA256 - ASIC

QUBIT - Originally CPU mining, Currently Dominated by ASIC

SKEIN/GROESTL - Originally GPU mining, Currently Dominated by ASIC

Time to take action before is too late. We're already in June and nothing was said or done.
We are approaching the half way point of DigiByte's distribution. It will take till 2035 to mine the other half, so I don't think it will be too late to act here for a while yet anyway but I would certainly love to hear about the options being considered too.

Value has to rise first in order to make it profitable to mine, because right now; it isn't...
If this continues, mining will stop.
As stated by others already;its more profitable to mine another coin and just buy them.

Why not leave the cooling in it? I live in Phoenix and I'm looking for something like a big Floral/Beer cooler to mount mining rigs in. Wintertime just shut it off.
Sigh...
For the umpteenth time: Folks, coolers for food/flowers/beer, whatnot are NOT designed to remove significant amounts of heat continuously! They can only move a little bit more heat than what leaks in through the insulation and whatever heat comes in with the food.

For reference, 1kw of power = 3415.179BTU/HR of heat to be moved. That is the numbers you need to look at for air-conditioning loads.

sigh...

why so grumpy if someone asks a question...
You were born ignorant also... Hope your parents didn't sigh with every question you asked....  Grin
331  Bitcoin / Mining / small home asic farm still in progress on: June 04, 2018, 05:48:33 PM
Hi all,

Today i finished most of the work on my new mini-farm.
I thought i'd share it here, in order to bring other people on good ideas.
I just took the effort to transfer th pictures to my email, put in a folder, upload, adjust size, and upload to forum. Its quite a task, and now the pics are turned 90 degree, so please rotate your head or monitor please  Grin Grin

I will edit and add more text while i upload this.

The story:

Last year i started to mine with innosilicon miners that i bought secondhand. This was so profitable, i bought another 4 sets.
I started to read about mining, bitmain, etcetera. I sold my Innosilicon's A4's with good profit and ordered 7 S9's at Bitmain.
In the waiting process, bitcoin rose and rose and rose, and i had nothing to mine with! So i bougt 4 S9's on the market for more money (yes, i roi'd.) (man.. these things were loud!)
My barn started to heat up, and the messy way they were situated irritated me, so at first, i bought a big most silent roof fan that i could find. It had a capacity of 4000 cubic meters an hour. This meant that when it was running, i couldn't open the door of my barn! Clearly i had to make an opeining for fresh air inlet, which i did.

I bought me a 19"rack, and started preparations for the arrival of the 7 S9's.
I insulated the whole rack, and made a hot outlet divider in it. I had the big roof fan connected to the top, and fres air came from below and front.
Result is shown in the first pictures.
Miners arrived, and were added.Weather was quite cold, approx. arount 0 centigrade. A tad noisy, but it was okay.

This worked great, until temps started to rise, and i had to speed up the roof fan, and sometimes had the front door a tad open to let more fresh air in.
Neighbors started to talk to me if the noise could be down during the night, which i did, monitoring with awesome miner.

Then i got it:a big fridge! Totally insulated itself, so adding some sound reducing on the inside should do it!
I bought 10 plates of 8cm (approx 3 inches) thick, and started to insulate the inside. (for the record, the space where thefridge is situated, i insulated the walls and floor as well; the fridge is placed on it)
Fridge cooler has been removed.
Then i started to build a custom fit shelf for the miners. See pic.

Today, i transferred the miners to their new habitat Smiley
As i need to redo power and network, and place the PDU's in the new undercome, things look a bit messy right now. I will make it nice coming weeks, i promise Smiley

First results: incredibly better cooling (the shelf sits approx. 20cm / 8 inches from the back, and top left there's a big hole with a flange to the rooftop fan. It sucks away the hot air and does a perfect job in that.

I have Sonoconnect hose to replace current suction hose, and to make a forced air intake to the cold side if the fridge. I intend to make them temperature controlled, and pressure-difference controlled as regards to the intake.

Any tips or advises?

Cooling unit provided with the fridge is way not sufficient to cool the miners...  Cheesy
Really need some serious cooling power.
I have aperfect unit, but it doesnt fit in the fridge. I will connect it with sonodeck hose for the real hot days. All other days i want to cool just with air; its a lot cheaper.
333  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 04, 2018, 04:30:05 AM
Maybe a silly question, but does anybody know which fan (front or rear) is supposed to be on the board outside connector?
I cleaned all my miners, and they are different assembled.I know the fans are different, so it should be specific one on front and one for backside fan.

Anyone?

336  Economy / Exchanges / cryptopia trading question on: June 02, 2018, 05:10:03 PM
hello,

i've been putting my first babysteps on a big trading platform like utopia.

Now, i transferred some dust BTC in order to try and learn.
i see how i can make a buy and a sell order, and how this seems to work. Nice!

What i dont understand: i want to exchange one coin for another coin. how can i do this? Is it only with buy and sell orders?
When i transfer BTC to an exchange like litebit or coinbase, i can directly sell them and get money when confirmed. Does Cryptopia offer this also?

Anyone can explain a little, or know a link to an how-to ?

Thanks! Wink

Does it still make up for the mining? For with this difficulty, only with a very large hash power to make a profit from mining, do not you agree?

Well, i have one scrypt miner, a L3+ wich i have for months at digibyte now, but it really sucks... I better use it as a doorstop, or mine other coins...

no you can not do that because you already transfered it to their wallet.
just wait or send a ticket to them(usually they did not answer it).

you should have know cryptocurrency weakness is its irreversible transaction right ? please do your own research before doing it.
and stay away with this kind of exchange.
Yobit,HitBtc,Poloniex and many more.
they're trash and did a shitty thing behind their costumer many times.

poloniex as well??

now on cryptopia.

Where can i distillate the best (safe, cheap) exchanges?
