324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: web wallet with same incoming and outgoing bitcoin address on: January 11, 2012, 09:14:01 AM
Is there a way to detect such changes in the code?
For example by installing a browser plugin that checks to see if the code matches and alerts the users if the code have changed?

325  Economy / Speculation / Re: The rocket is secretly taking off. $8 price target within 18 hours on: January 09, 2012, 09:54:56 AM
The asks at 7.2 pile up, looks like a reversal, but in this world...

328  Economy / Speculation / Re: $7 today?!! on: January 05, 2012, 10:57:21 PM
Bit-pay is going to have a booth at CES (consumer electronic show) in Vegas next week

prepare for lift off

$10 is easy on the horizon

Seriously?! Wow, that's one of the best spots I can image to bring this technology to the media and to more people. Loads of smart and technically inclined people, who will definitely understand this much faster and see the benefits it can bring. Kudos to Bit-Pay! Let's hope the media coverage will be good Smiley

Not sure people will care that much.
329  Economy / Speculation / Re: Arbitrage opportunities on: January 04, 2012, 04:06:21 PM
I've done a bit of manual arbitrage on Ruxum as well, but the fact that they don't have an API makes it kind of pointless for me.  Also, their fees for getting money in and out are pretty ridiculous (same reason I'm not trading at CryptoX yet).

I get an uneasy feeling that Ruxum will just drop off the map soon as well...

Crypto now supports BitInstant so it's much cheaper to get money in. You can also deposit Mt.Gox codes at crypto so you can get USD from Gox over to Crypto with zero fee (and you can use Bitinstant to get USD from Crypto back to gox for about 1%)

Thats great to hear. Crypto x change really seems good.
We really need trade at more exchanges than MT.Gox its not good with only one huge market.
In case something happens to them.

Though they have done much for the bitcoin community and continue to do so.

330  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll :: When will Bitcoin reach $1 Billion total value on: January 04, 2012, 01:37:08 PM
Not this year things take longer than expected. Unless in a bubble.

But we might get close in the next newyears bubble 2012-12-30.

50/50 in the autumn of next year.
Exact date 2013-09-12

331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Needed: short examples of organisations rejecting BTC based on legal concerns on: January 04, 2012, 01:30:09 PM
Thanks for responses! (got a very useful one in PM from istar)

The article has been published now: http://bitcoinmedia.com/the-effs-own-chilling-breeze/

Thats simply great, I loved it especially the end.
You used their own fearbased wait and see approach...
Not much frontier going on over there...
Maybe they should rename themselves to EF...Electric foundation Wink

332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Needed: short examples of organisations rejecting BTC based on legal concerns on: January 04, 2012, 11:33:22 AM
Sure, but are you going to try and convince them that the legality is not an issue?

333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trusted cellphone/mobile bitcoin client on: January 04, 2012, 10:09:21 AM
Look I know YOU dont trust them but you are not the target.

I´m talking about avarage joe who have heard about Norton/mcafee/insert "avarage joe trusted companyname dealing in security here" since years back and will never trust a "unknown" company to hold their money.
Ofcourse in a few years things will change but I´m talking this/next year.

334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Trusted cellphone/mobile bitcoin client on: January 04, 2012, 08:29:45 AM
Right now one of the problems with the new mobile clients are that people do not know the companies behind them.

If I recommend a small shop to start using a mobile client, which should I recommend?

I believe that if some trusted software companies such as Norton mcafee or any other trusted company gave out a client it would be easy to get new people using it, people would probably even pay money for using it.

However they might not create one in years.

So an idea would be for you guys who develop a mobile client to let them license it from you. This is a common approach in many other businesses such as gambling in which a software developer licenses their software to a trusted gambling name.

335  Economy / Speculation / Re: the real price of 1btc on: January 04, 2012, 07:30:30 AM
Are people approaching or creating gambling sites that accept bitcoin?  That seems like a good idea given how much gamblers hate paying taxes.  The govt doesn't recognize bitcoins yet as value...

Yes, switch poker and soon infintipoker.

337  Economy / Speculation / Re: $5 reached! on: January 03, 2012, 03:02:22 PM
There is a strong support at $4.8...
We are in a long steady upward trend.

It's been below 4.8 for 30 mins now? (and you posted this 5 minutes ago)

I believe we are in a strong both longterm and midterm trend towards $6.

339  Economy / Economics / Re: The early-adoptor unfairness on: January 03, 2012, 08:20:52 AM
When I got into Bitcoins at $7-8 I really whished I could have gotten in at $4-5. Now you can and you are complaining...
You can also invest in Litecoin which not many really believe in just like Bitcoin.

Or realise that you are a somewhat early adopter. Only 45.000 members on this forum!
Or you can wait and continue to complain until there are 90.000...120.000...245.000...

340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning! Please don't create another bubble! on: January 02, 2012, 10:05:25 PM
You simply must explain to them that there will be huge fluctuations in the value of the coins, we are going to se quite a few bubbles before things start to calm down, and there is no way for any of us to change that. It might take 5-15 years before things calm down.

And I know the fluctuations are unavoidable, but the way to avoid them in the first place is by having a healthy bitcoin economy that relies on real trade rather than USD to BTC speculation.

I think you are right, it would be better with a slow growth but its simply impossible. You just cant tell everyone in the world not to buy as they see the price go up. And as the price go up, you cannot tell people they need to sell to stop it from going up.

We will not see stability.
