321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Provably Fair- How Can You Know? on: February 07, 2024, 11:07:01 AM
So I've been playing a little bit of roulette on a couple different gambling sites online.  I've been throwing a few satoshis on playing Poker (Texas Hold'Em) here and there as well.  Mainly focusing on Roulette, how can I be sure that the site is provably fair? I've heard this term used before by gambling buddies on here, but I've near really learned how you can know or find out if a sites games are "provably fair"?

I'm not totally sure what part is confusing here.  Are you wondering how to know if some casino games are really fair? That info should be easy to find on the casino's website for each game and in their terms of service.  Or maybe you understand what provably fair means, but aren't sure how to actually check if the games live up to that promise? Yeah, verifying it yourself can get technical.  You need to understand the specific systems each casino uses to generate randomness and show proof.

The best casinos explain everything clearly on their sites though.  Look for a page about provably fair specifically that lays out how each game works and  some even have tools to let you verify outcomes are legit, but you may need some crypto knowledge to use those.  The main thing is that reputable places want you to trust the games are fair so they should make info on how they work easy to access.  Its a bit of work to understand it fully, but you can get the gist.

Crypto investment vs real estate investment : Which one more dependable in the future
Though have been in the crypto space for quite some time now, I knew little about crypto. A friend of mine just introduced me to real estate investment.
Which one should I go for with a capital less than $2500?

Let me ask you where do you live that $2500 is enough for a real estate investment?

No place in the USA will 2500 usd be enough to buy real estate.

Even getting a slum property in a city for say $100 comes with your need to fix it up 🆙 the city will give you a year and if it is not fixed you lose the place.

I realize some parts of the world property is cheap but 2500 is likely too small an amount to use for real estate.

Yes, I agree. $2500 is not going very far if you wanna buy actual property in most places these days.  But there's other ways to get into real estate besides just buying a house or apartment yourself and  you can do crowdfunding platforms where a bunch of investors pool their money together.  Or REITs - those let regular people basically own shares of big commercial properties and stuff.
323  Other / Meta / Re: The effect the mixer ban has had on the forum. on: February 05, 2024, 09:18:19 AM
The admin of Altcoinstalk, based on their rules, does not want any drama or anything of the sort. Therefore, I wonder if those members who caused a lot of drama here will be interested in transitioning over there. They might find themselves being constrained and restricted. It's a different platform for them, not their usual playground.
It sounds like censorship: who decides what's "drama"? I'm so glad theymos doesn't care and allows freedom, which is especially important when it's controversial.

That's why the admin told me:

first of all, please remove these images, you are not authorised and we do not wish this to be displayed outside of our forum, you are free to join and write whatever you want, but taking screenshots to criticise on another platform, that's a bit too much, don't you think ?

I'm not really up on all the drama happening, but it seems maybe the admin over at Altcoinstalk doesn't take well to any criticism of his site.

I don't have solid proof or anything, but I could see a controlling dude like that not caring too much about peoples right to free speech. Not a good look for someone running a public discussion platform.
324  Economy / Economics / Re: are we returning to stone age? on: February 04, 2024, 10:20:08 PM
Well... when you look around these days, it's easy to feel worried and powerless.  There's definitely stuff going downhill - I wont argue with you there.  The education system's a mess.  Healthcare too.  And yeah, politics is ugly.  Wars are raging. Makes you wanna tune it out sometimes.

But hey it ain't all bad.  Theres cool things happening too that are worth noticing.  Crazy innovations in tech and medicine that are changing the world, bringing people together across borders.  It's amazing when you think about it.  Maybe we don't live in some peaceful utopia yet, but I wouldn't say were in a dystopian nightmare either.

And as for folks just living all YOLO in the moment, I get that too.  When the future looks uncertain taking refuge in the present moment seems reasonable.  Not always the healthiest choice long-term, but understandable.  At least they're trying to find some joy.

So yeah.  It's a mixed bag out there.  But there's still good happening alongside the bad.  And sitting back helpless wont change anything.  Little steps count.  All we can do is work with what we've got in front of us.
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Personal Computer Mined How Many Bitcoin Per Day In 2009? 100? 250? 1700? on: February 04, 2024, 09:47:25 PM
Here is a famous quote from theymos from that time:

I generated 5 blocks today on my Pentium processor. Two of them were within 3 minutes of each other.

Since this was before the first halving, the block rewards were of course 50 BTC, so 5 blocks would yield 250 BTC. But, theymos also mentioned that his computer is turned off while sleeping...
326  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betnomi | Project status & Refund Plan! on: February 04, 2024, 05:28:24 PM
Yes, Betnomi's promises of refunds seem disingenuous.  It's been long enough that victims should have received reimbursements by now if Sorsis genuinely intended to return funds.  So far, his excuses ring hollow and theyve taken no concrete steps toward actually refunding affected users.

I want to believe Betnomi will eventually make good on their word if they say they will refund victims.  But still, victims shouldn't hold their breath in anticipation.  Betnomi has already breached trust through mismanagement.  Their vows to reimburse those affected ring hollow absent real restitution.

Even if LL is away, AFAIK there is the team that works for bitvest to process payments and its operations.
Did LL hire someone or some people to help him in his casino lately? AFAIK LL is the only one who has the access for payment in the casino such as refilling the hot wallet, so once the hot wallet is empty and LL is away or busy in real life, players will need to wait for LL till he is coming back.

From what I remember, there was also this guy Zodiac who was friends with LightLord and co-owned Bitvest casino.  He used to help LightLord manage casino and  I'm not totally sure if Zodiac is still around, but I vaguely recall seeing some posts from him giving updates on the hot wallet situation and withdrawal status before.

@MrStork, so I was checking out your website and couldn't find any kind of signed "Letter of Guarantee" for deposits, which seemed a bit concerning.  Like let's imagine a scenario where for whatever reason I decide to trust in your platform, and I decide I wanna exchange some of my bitcoins.  Once I send those funds to the wallet address listed on your site, there's no way for me to later prove thats actually your address. Basically if something were to go wrong, you could just say it wasn't your address I sent my coins to, and I'd be out of luck trying to prove otherwise since there's no signature linked to the address from your end.

Thank you for your valuable suggestion..your feedback is valuable to us, and we are committed to continuously improving our services to meet the needs of our users. thank you for bringing this to our attention .. as mentioned earlier, we have been operating in this business for a significant period of time, primarily serving individuals within our personal network. However, we have now made the decision to expand our business by creating a website. This will allow us to directly accept orders from users and further enhance the growth of our work.

You did not directly answer my question or address the specific concern I raised. Regardless of your claimed experience in this field, you should understand that you currently lack credibility within this community. This is particularly surprising considering it is the largest and oldest Bitcoin community in the world.

Of course, LoG on your platform will not fix this, but it will at least be one step in the right direction, and at least partially protect users from potential scam.

That's how DTs make up there mind really, nice league you follow there.

Excuse me? What exactly are you accusing me of here? Can you be more specific? Did I say something untrue?

If the forum staff says that your account was used to send DMs with phishing links, I have no reason not to believe that information. And, considering your trust score, I have no reason to take your word at face value.
332  Economy / Reputation / Re: Farewell on: February 01, 2024, 12:46:34 PM
I already answered your question, I provided the quote from directly from Chipmixer where they said they deleted the private keys:

Whether they deleted the private keys or not (we have no evidence they didn't), how does that prove what you claim?

If you say ChipMixer was a scam, show me the evidence of them stealing people's coins. You claim your accusations are backed up with proof, so let's see it.

And let me repeat, since you obviously dodging the question: You specifically stated "they stole everyone's coins". Was that a lie?

Why do you think o_e_l_e_o backstabbed theymos and told everyone to use centralized mixers instead of Wasabi?

What made you think I was interested in some software from some shitty company you're promoting? Well, let me make that clear: I'm not!
333  Other / Meta / Re: If I'm Satoshi Nakamoto How do I prove it? on: February 01, 2024, 12:24:01 PM
Let us say for a moment for pure speculation ofcourse, that Satoshi was very young when he created BTC.  So young that statistically speaking his brain wasn't even fully developed when he first deployed BTC.  The human mind isn't fully developed until the age of 25 for most males.

So what? He wouldn't be the first inventor to invent something revolutionary at a very young age.

335  Economy / Reputation / Re: Farewell on: February 01, 2024, 11:23:31 AM
The difference between ChipMixer and Wasabi is that ChipMixer stole everyone's coins and gave their data to the government because they are a trusted custodian.

Your baseless accusations are as empty as your head.  ChipMixer did NOT stole everyone's coins, and you're just spewing nonsense without a shred of proof and intentionally spreading lies to advance your own agenda, just as you falsely accused o_e_l_e_o with no evidence to support your claims.

You're sounding like a Bitcoin SV troll more and more. What's your deal with them?

337  Other / Meta / Re: Email used to create this forum? on: January 31, 2024, 01:29:18 PM
I think there is a confusion. Satoshi did post on this forum, in the new forum back in the time.

You need to read this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5.msg28#msg28

The post you referred to was written back in 2009. Probably it was on the same script (I mean SMF) but it was hosted somewhere else. At first, the website was moved to forum.bitcoin.org which is currently owned by Sirius where Satoshi has made this post. After a year, satoshi disappeared. After another year, on August 01, 2011, theymos were kind of forced to move this forum[1] to a new host and domain which is Bitcointalk.org. In this sense, yes, satoshi didn't write any posts in this forum. Maybe he wrote in forum.bitcoin.org forum which later moved to Bitcointalk.org.

Actually, as far as I know, the forum was first hosted at the URL "bitcoin.org/smf/" at some point before the subdomain forum.bicoin.org was created.

You can find the oldest archived version from December 15, 2009 at the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20091215005450/http://bitcointalk.org/
338  Other / Meta / Re: [BAN]: Hacker1001101001 on: January 31, 2024, 12:22:21 PM
I don't think he will be able to help you on that since it's only admins who are able to view PMs as far as I know.
Admins and global moderators can do it.

No, I don't think so. Global mods cannot see PM's unless you use the report to mod function.

As the OP will not be able to prove the account was hacked and I find the story hard to believe since it is regarding the "hacker1001101001" account:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1021758

I agree. Sounds like a made up story. The account has multiple negatives and was abandoned for years. So, why the sudden interest?
339  Economy / Reputation / Re: Farewell on: January 30, 2024, 10:57:01 AM
I don't care about people's feelings, I care about the truth.

If you care about the truth, why do you spread lies?

As you can see, I do not have a double standard because I always make sure my accusations are backed up with proof.

Let's see about that:

That's your opinion, but I disagree. They were seized by a government and all available private keys were confiscated. That's not the definition of a scam.

If ChipMixer wasn't a scam, please explain how all the NON available private keys that ChipMixer said they deleted were also confiscated.

There can be many explanations, as we have already discussed this in the CM ANN thread and other related threads. (Have you actually read the whole document posted on justice.gov?) Since FBI agents have been monitoring the site and collecting evidence since 2021, we don't know for sure when they got the private keys or if they were used or unused "chips" at that time.  So, it is still possible that CM deleted the used private keys as they claimed, and the FBI could have gotten them beforehand.

But, there's no need to repeat everything here just for your convenience. If you say ChipMixer was a scam, show me the evidence of them stealing people's coins. You claim your accusations are backed up with proof, so let's see it.

And let me repeat, since you obviously dodging the question: You specifically stated "they stole everyone's coins". Was that a lie?

As I mentioned earlier, if o_e_l_e_o's farewell thread said he was leaving the forum to become a Buddhist monk or Amish farmer, my "Good Riddance" post would not change at all, because no mention was made whatsoever about his physical condition.

Which was obviously bad judgment on your part, because otherwise your post wouldn't have been deleted, and theymos wouldn't have moved the rest of your posts to a separate thread.

But you are digressing again, why did you previously lie that you posted proof about o_e_l_e_o when in fact that post doesn't contain any proof at all?  You seem to have a habit of lying a lot.   Tongue
340  Economy / Reputation / Re: Farewell on: January 29, 2024, 05:03:03 PM
What do you mean I have "double standards"?  Can you provide an example?

Sure I can. Here is an example.

So, to paraphrase your words, you have never provided any proof of Chipmixer scamming anyone, you just reposted it without verifying it.

OK. Assuming these claims are true (and I have no reason to doubt them, I'm just pointing out that they do not constitute irrefutable evidence), based on the information provided, it's reasonable to conclude that ChipMixer did not steal those coins, but rather a government agency confiscated them.

To sum it up, your claim that Chipmixer "stole everyone's coins" was a lie, or at the very least an exaggeration. And your second claim, again unsubstantiated, that they "turned over their data to the government" is equally bogus. You're either delusional or deliberately spreading misinformation.

It's not an "exaggeration", ChipMixer explicitly claimed that they delete the private keys:

Destroying the session deletes chip private key.

^This was a scam.

That's your opinion, but I disagree. They were seized by a government and all available private keys were confiscated. That's not the definition of a scam.

But you specifically stated "they stole everyone's coins". Was that a lie?

You don't defend yourself against "false accusations" by wishing someone dead, or by coming to someone's "farewell" thread to gloat over their imminent demise. Have some respect.

I didn't "wish someone dead", I posted proof that o_e_l_e_o knew the accusations he was making were false.

That's another lie. Here's your original post in o_e_l_e_o's "farewell" thread: https://ninjastic.space/post/63517379
That post contains no proofs whatsoever, just your baseless opinion and a disgusting comment about his terminal illness.
