321  Other / Meta / Re: Hey Theymos, There Should Be a Demotion Button on: February 25, 2024, 10:20:55 PM
With the rampancy of signature campaigns, the tendency for participants to type to meet quota (even if they don’t really make sense is high). This is why I think that a demotion (or demerit) button is appropriate. This would mitigate the preponderance of the disappointment in reading posts from some so-ranked Legendary sounding like it’s from a 12-year old.
The merit system is enough to handle all the issues raised and it's handling them. The difficulty in ranking up will enable us not to have incompetent legendaries in the future. If there were others promoted to legendary before the merit system, they should enjoy it. I have read people proposed that all airdropped merits be retrieved, I don't support that, that is part of the forum history and shouldn't be distorted.
If accounts changed hands, it's also part of the system as no system is without a flaw. Besides, I do not think there are still good accounts without tags that are still up for sell these days. So, those few ones will extinct with time.
322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Monastery My Opinion on: February 25, 2024, 09:56:14 PM
Bitcoin monastery would have sounded nice if bitcoin isn't a decentralized coin. We should not be talking about monastery in an open source decentralized coin. In a pure monastery system, there's a high concentrated, esteemed and almighty head which controls everything in the system. Who will assume this almighty status, since Satoshi isn't around. The foundation of bitcoin is laid pure on codes (C++) and it's maintenance is in the hands of the people and not a group of monks. So, can we discuss the bitcoin ETF and other related news and forget this monastery of a thing?
323  Economy / Economics / Re: The influence of cryptocurrencies in economy on: February 25, 2024, 09:42:58 PM
Except for a few countries like El Salvador, that have adoption Bitcoin, on a macro level, the influence of Bitcoin on the economy is mainly on the micro levels, being in the personal economy of individuals, because it's a source of income in terms of using it for investment and trading purposes. Bitcoin was created to carter for decentralized p2p transaction, where two individuals can perform transaction without the intereferance of a third party and centralized authorities like governments, but because of it's slow adoption worldwide and governments trying to regulate it, makes it to be used more as investment and trading by individuals mainly.

I don't think the adoption of Bitcoin (and other cryptocurrencies) has influence on only individuals and households. In every country where the citizens use Bitcoin (crypto) either for p2p transactions or as an investment,  the economy of the country suffers a slight reduction in national revenue. This is because some cryptocurrency (especially Bitcoin) transactions and investments are unintentionally excluded from tax because of the decentralized and privacy status of most of this cryptocurrencies.

Why do you think the governments of most countries are against the adoption of Bitcoin and some other cryptocurrencies? It is because the goverments of these countries see Cryto as a threat to their economy and maybe national security as they may portray it. You can now see that cryptocurrency is also a thing of national concern which means, its influence can be felt in both the micro and macro economies.
324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Btc and people knowledge on: February 25, 2024, 09:30:13 PM
People question and double new innovations much. Especially when they are not forced to adopt it. When they are given freewill to choose they'll question every process and actions. But when they are coerced, they have no option than to adhere. In the case of fiat and banks, I think the older people also resisted the idea of banks and money when it was at the early stage. Maybe from the days of barter to advancing to the money stage was actually not easy.

People are doubting bitcoin today because they doubted television and gave it all sorts of names. People doubted electricity and vowed not to use it, but today many people are using it. So, it is nice if bitcoin is not fully embraced now, but then the future is bright.
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Rated 6th Among the Top Global Currencies on: February 25, 2024, 09:09:32 PM
It's probably still a matter of time before bitcoin can become number one in the world because more and more people are starting to use it. Even big funds are now buying it thanks to the approved spot bitcoin etf. But honestly, I can't even believe that bitcoin already ranks sixth among all the world's currencies. Just a short time ago, no one would have thought of that.
I am not expecting bitcoin to rank as number one in the global currency hierarchy. I just want it to exist, I am not interested in the ranking if it will bring more problems to bitcoin. I do not see the possibility of US allowing bitcoin to be ranked over dollar either by joke or officially. The men of high conspiracy cannot allow a decentralized coin rule the world. Even if the world is tilting towards decentralization, there are still powers of centralization which bitcoin cannot win and it is better it avoids the battle.

As for the ranking, I will have to say that bitcoin is too fast and the adoption also. But we are expecting more positivities iff the government allows bitcoin be.
326  Economy / Economics / Re: Recession soon? on: February 24, 2024, 11:55:59 PM
People might be aware that some of the esteemed and largest organisations are laying off their employees left right and centre, are we heading into recession? Because I have seen my colleagues getting laid off and it's been months they are unable to find a job. Either we are heading towards recession or globally companies overhired the employees post COVID hence clearing the additional manpower. I am bit convinced that it's like recession sort of thing and not sure to over hiring. Share your thoughts on this crisis which has left a good amount of people without any work.
When large organisations begin to lay off workers in large numbers, it should give a great concern. This could only be point to the economic down turn as everyone is saying.
Op saying if recession is in view is surprising to me. Because where I came from, we have never resuscitated from the effects of the covid 19 recession.
Also one of the causes of the viral downsizing of the larger organisations could be the speedy advent of Ai
327  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Preventive measures not to lose your btc on: February 24, 2024, 10:53:18 PM
There is nothing that anyone can tell me, social media is one of the easiest place to lose your crypto assets because it's been bombard with lots of fake links and fake giveaways, Twitter is the first one on my list, this is the most targetted social media by scammers and for scammers, sorry to say this Elon, your ass isn't doing anything to prevent it.
Social media is the most crowded place in the internet. Scammers target where they will get so many victims on a single launch and social media is the best place to achieve this.
Secondly, no matter how often people are scammed on social media, many people will keep trooping in and get scammed. Apart from twitter, telegram is another place of scam and scams. I deactivated my telegram for a reason and I don't know when last I used my twitter account. Those place that doesn't add to my finance but rather take away my time and resources, I tend to avoid them. But then social media is just unavailable.
328  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Learn how to read crypto market charts on: February 24, 2024, 10:08:05 PM
This post reminds me of the popular I AM HODLING thread. While many experts were busy learning how to read charts, my guy was in the bar Grin. When the market was going down, many panicked and sold. But my guy was seriously HOLDING. You only lose when you sell when the market is shaken.

Relating it to this post. When you are a doe hard hodler, I don't think you have any reason to learn how to read charts. Unless you need as a basic knowledge because no knowledge is a waste. But anyone who wishes to be a good day time trader should be able to learn their chart and as well as the candlestick geometry.

Re: As a crypto investor, the less app you install the better.
The title of your post is more interesting to read than the body of the thread.

As a crypto investor, you should invest in a good open source hardware wallet or keep your coins on an airgapped device. This way you don't have to worry about what you download on your mobile or desktop cause it's not linked to your holdings.
You sounded so confident like this is the ultimate solution for hacking and fishing. Prevention has always been the best measure to take. Once a malicious app has access to your device, airgaped or not, there's a problem.

• Don't use closed source wallets like trustwallet,
I don't see this as a big threat especially as you mentioned Trust wallet. Besides some closed source apps are better than unmaintained open source apps.
330  Other / Meta / Re: Lock the 1xBit thread. on: February 23, 2024, 08:06:39 PM
I would have supported that the thread be locked, but even till now I think there are random newbies who still pop up in the forum that they are scammed by 1xbit. It will be right if we understand that 1xbit has exited this forum but their website is still functional. There are people who search the internet to know if a casino is genuine or not, if the thread is active, I think those people could easily be redirected there to read about the casino.

I will support that the thread be locked if their website is no longer functioning. You will be surprised that if that thread is locked, random 1xbit scam threads will spring up in the reputation board. If there be spam, if there be suspicion, if there be scam, it should be, remain and end in their thread.
331  Other / Meta / Re: Ban Appeal Thread on: February 20, 2024, 02:58:08 PM
It's not always funny to me when a legendary account is banned. Especially a legendary account that registered during the era of merits. Ranking up from a brand new to legendary is not an easy task. I also believe that moderators are always lenient on legendary accounts than on newbies and relatively new accounts. For them to strike, it means the matter could be more severe than what is presented in OP.

Re: Ban Appeal Thread
This shows you really want your account back and that's why you are appealing.

Sorry Guys I failed. this is the last time that I will be seeing this Forum and moving on with life Thank You Bitcointalk for making my time worthwhile.
This shows that you are finally quitting the forum.
What exactly is your purpose of creating this thread?
332  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: A possible problem with one reputable mixer service on: February 20, 2024, 01:54:26 PM
Honestly, you sound like a bot or an AI-generated answer. You roughly just rephrased what I wrote above, so I'm not sure about the point of your answer.
Obviously, this is an AI generated text

According to the web search results from my internal tool, Unijoin is a Bitcoin mixer that uses CoinJoin technology to enhance the privacy and anonymity of its users. It also claims to have a no-logs policy and a Tor browser integration. It has some positive reviews and ratings from other users and websites.
I have read the response by Unijoin rep. The possibility of phishing scam is there. But if I were to mix coins as high as 15BTC, I would be careful of phishing. Possibly I will just click from the signature in BTT Altcoinstalks. I knew that the absence of mixers here will give room for different kinds of scams.
Meanwhile the complainant donated 10+ Ethereum to the other forum. This will mean alot if investigated correctly.
333  Economy / Speculation / Re: A new ATH before halving. Is it possible? on: February 20, 2024, 01:31:46 PM
Ever since its creation, Bitcoin's ATH is reached after the halving, more than a year after the halving to be more precise. There have been three halvings so far. This kind of pattern is true to all of them.

But I'm becoming curious this time around. The price has already reached $52,000 and we are still 2 months away from the halving. Bitcoin's ATH was reached on November 10, 2021. 2 months prior to that, the price was only around $46,000. From $52,000, it only took a month for Bitcoin to reach an ATH of $69,000.

Now, my question is: is it a possibility that this upcoming halving is unique in that a new ATH is reached before it? We still have a lot of time left. With the demand beating the supply, $69,000 is not far away from the current price.
Bitcoin is a wonder coin, although it depends much on history but then history is made in a day. The signs are too obvious a new ATH will be seen before halving, yet we do not want to believe the signs because of history.
I believe that we may see a new ATH before halving, this season could take another dimension because the ETF approval will play a big role in this season bull run which has not been seen before. This is my confidence about this coming bull run, it will sure look and sound differently.
334  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hey! it's $50k today. on: February 20, 2024, 01:12:59 PM
So miners are really looking to see 60k by march and close to 70k by April 1.
Is it possible to reach $60k in March and raise to $70k in April?
TBH, I'm curious how you get that number. I'm sorry because I'm just an amateur, I don't understand how to analyze it.
Please let me know if you have the explanation, friend.  Smiley
Even without asking questions on how it will happen, you can obviously see that it is happening. We are still in February and we are in the range of 52k. Just one major pull will take us to 60k.

Voted for  Upwards trend up to bull run. dumping is enough and we are now looking to growth into the bull market.

Still pending in above 50k , was hoping to see 55k any time soon but I think this will not happen , as I am thinking this is another bull trapping like what had happened in the past specially when halving is coming.
Nice vote...
It seems that the 55k is about to happen as the market is at 52 range and still looking bullish. But then I think the market will drop to 40 range before halving and the anticipated bull run.
335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What significant impact is expected of new members of the forum? on: February 20, 2024, 12:55:44 PM
but I want to know how I can impact the forum, what core values does the bitcoin talk community needs?
Welcome to the largest and oldest cryptocurrency sudden in the world. I specifically had to mention it to you so that you will have the idea of where you are. This is a place satoshi and the early developers of Bitcoin discussed about the Bitcoin network and till today high level information about bitcoin is this shared in the community. But regarding your question of how you will impact the forum, I do not think that this question is necessary for now. Overtime many newbies have asked how they will impact the forum but in the end they get impacted by the forum and helped by the forum. It is true to say that the forum does not necessarily need your impact but you need to operate within the confide of the forum rules and regulations.

In order to be successful here just try to be yourself and not pretend to be what you are not in order to appear more intelligent than how you are. This is the fastest way to commit plagiarism. Discover what you want and what you like and find the way to compress that into the forum. The forum is about Bitcoin but yet there are other boards like cryptocurrency trading, the altcoins board, if you have services that you can render and lots more. So, allow yourself to be helped by the forum and not the other way round.
336  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk rules and gudie for newbies on: February 20, 2024, 12:35:16 PM
Am new to bitcointalk for some time now and I have been searching for the rules so I don't know where to see it, please I need rule and guideline as a newbie

Welcome to the forum. And I wish you will really enjoy here.
You have been searching for the rules and unable to see any, I am sorry about that. But then, how and where do you search for these rules? Do you click thread by thread searching for these rules? I ask because if you do the right thing in less than 5 mins you can see anything you are searching for in this forum. Hatchy has provided you the link to the unofficial rules, it is advisable to study them well m incase you would want to search for anything subsequently, just click the search icon on the menu bar. You can preferably use the Google extended search to look up for anything in the forum. Also use that function when you want to create a new topic such that you will not create something repetitive.
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What causes altcoin season? on: February 19, 2024, 10:29:52 PM
It is a general believe in the cryptocurrency community that Bitcoin bull season is usually followed by altcoins season. I don't know the logic behind it hence the reason for this post. The present bull run seems to be dominated by Bitcoin and its already taking too long without corresponding rise in price among the notable altcoins.

So, should we also expect altcoin season following the current bull run? If yes, what are the best altcoins to focus on?
I joined this space 2021 and I haven't witnessed any altcoin season. I don't know how it looks like. Does it mean altcoins will be firing and leave bitcoin behind? Is such a thing even possible. Could the real definition of altcoins season be that, as bitcoin is rising, a few altcoins will also rise. If so, every bull run is an altcoin season including the last one. If there's any other idea of altcoins season apart from what I have, may I know it?
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where did u put your Money ? on: February 19, 2024, 10:19:24 PM
Just like you, I have invested most of my money into bitcoin. The rest of my money was put into a different altcoin. A lot of altcoins do not really reach $1 so I tend to be careful with which altcoins I should focus on. With numerous projects launching these days, there is definitely a saturation when it comes to altcoins.

Some altcoins, if acquired pre-launch, do not even reach any value. While some altcoins turn out to be scams. I would honestly rather buy a coin that is a little pricey already but have potential to have double profit than try to risk investing in a coin that was very low priced, buy a lot and then have those coins not get any value.
I tend to align with you more than the Op. It is just like a general knowledge that low price coins gives better profits. But the puzzle of finding these good low priced altcoins is hard. As you rightly said, many of them are scam, some are pure shitcoins without road map and maybe will depend on social media hype for temporal pump and dump. It is fine we understand that whoever invests in such projects is just gambling and nothing more.

My main portfolio is bitcoin, I have some stable coin waiting for where to invest it but no courage or confidence to do so. I don't actually know why it is so
339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and its impact on my life: A journey to a better tomorrow. on: February 19, 2024, 09:57:22 PM
Sorry about your health. May the joy which the bull run brings escalate your healing.

In conclusion, with this contribution, I want to convey the following to people, especially those deciding to enter the world of Bitcoin: Educate yourself, stay informed, and don't panic. Only invest what you are willing to lose. I didn't come up with this advice; wiser, more experienced individuals did, and I listen to them. If you encounter any issues, reach out to people who understand it better and have valuable experience. I found support in the Bitcoin Community group on Facebook.

I wish everyone, especially those who managed to read this far, robust health!

Thank you, Satoshi!

Very basic and static rules since bitcoin was created, but many decided to overlook the rules and do what they wish. But in the end, majority of those who disobeyed the rules cry. Many of the newbies are of the opinion that these rules are obsolete and you see them look for ways to cut corners and win the market. Some resort to investing in shitcoins, others join signal and pump and dump groups. But the basics is always better.
340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Knowing when to own your bitcoin on: February 19, 2024, 09:22:38 PM
Can you post your Bitcoin address?
I am surprised that you requested for this. You should understand how this forum works and how we even advice newbies who post their addresses to keep them private. Op do not have to do much to prove to us that his story is true. For your mental wellness, just assume OP just lied and all will still be fine.

My story
<snip>
I assume you are one of the many people who are currently happy with the profits you have made with Bitcoin because the price of Bitcoin is increasing.
You are also one of the lucky people with Bitcoin because you bought it at a price far from the current price. Luck exists but not everything and forever depends on luck.
I think your story is true. I am also happy with the luck and profits you get.
We are all carried away by the volatility of Bitcoin because we profit from it. Gradually we are losing the main essence of bitcoin or let's say other things bitcoin brings to us. We should love and believe bitcoin both at low or high.
