321  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining with solar panel+battery+inverter is it possible ? on: September 05, 2022, 07:04:36 PM
ASIC mining off solar and batteries would NEVER see a profit, ever.

GPU mining would be the down low way to go. Having a "gaming" PC habit is legal right?

322  Economy / Speculation / Re: why does BTC price appear to follow the performance of US equities markets? on: August 31, 2022, 08:54:56 AM
My opinion / observation

It's seems to be treated like / follows FAANG facebook, apple amazon netflix google.

I suspect it's the same people who invest in stocks also do so BTC and so in step.

Zoom out 3 5 10 years and then it looks different.

So sold most of my btc knowing the market still has some crashing to do and buy back in when it's lower.

More afraid of Musk tweets than manipulation.
323  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Will there be more efficient mining hardwares? on: August 28, 2022, 02:01:07 PM
If you can make more efficient and smaller chips just pack more in there. I like the idea of the liquid cooled bitmain, solves allot of problems.
324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My feelings after 11 years with crypto. on: August 28, 2022, 01:32:20 PM
It could be 5 bucks then would he be winner?

I've lost 250k investing in a weed farm (dumbest idea ever), 500k in one divorce and 100k in another. Such is life it's on me to make better decisions.

But you have your wife. If you lost the one you love and loved you none of that would mean anything. You would cash in the world to have her.

8/26 6 years ago I lost the love of my life, completely changed my perspective on what really matters. Bitcoin? pfft.
325  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are candlestick patterns overrated? on: August 27, 2022, 09:07:28 PM
IMHO BTC tracks the tech stocks almost verbatim. FAANG Facebook, Apple, Amazon and Google. It really doesn't act on its own. In essence it's a me too tech stock. Analyze those.

I watch Youtube for entertainment of knuckleheads reporting from mom's basement with candlesticks.
326  Other / Archival / Re: Why has bitcoin adoption failed in El Salvador? on: August 26, 2022, 08:56:24 PM
BTC is in parallel with the US dollar there right?

So they can still use good ol USD there correct? So what failed? If you don't want use it, don't.

I thought the push was to help the unbanked. To allow people to receive funds from relatives at a distance such as the US and abroad. Western Union fee's are horrendous.

The amount of BTC  in the countries coffers is a fraction, he didn't bet the farm.

The only loss is see they held him up for ransom for that 1.3bil "loan". The strings that bind and strangle.
327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mine a Bitcoin or buy a bitcoin? on: August 26, 2022, 08:35:17 PM
If you want mining exposure you do some research on investing in one of the mining company stocks. Last time I glanced at them they tracked BTC fairly closely.  Unsure it would be an advantage over owning BTC unless you wanted to get something BTC like into an investment you couldn't get BTC itself into
328  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can mining be relied on for financial stability? on: August 14, 2022, 03:32:30 AM
While not mining per se, you can gain some  mining exposure by investing in the mining companies. I haven't done it but I bet they trade close to BTC values. Some my use them to sneak BTC in their portfolio or a company heavy in it like MicroStrategy.

You can duck in and out of stocks but with your own equip the ROI is going to look like at least over a year or more.

Some want clean coin off the radar I suppose.
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Most BTC you've spent on something? on: July 28, 2022, 11:39:30 PM
Couple of USD grand worth of steroids for personal use.
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin soars as the FederalReserve raises the key interest rate by 75 basis pnt on: July 28, 2022, 12:20:15 PM
Welp, I expect BTC to track tech stocks FAANG. Seems like they are doing well at this writing.

I was was expecting a dip and buy some ore but may take some profit and sit back and watch.

They are saying this action was already "baked into" the initial response to the hike. Maybe so.
331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you be in favor of Gold or Bitcoin !! on: July 20, 2022, 03:02:47 PM
Gold is nice since you can buy it and then have a nice thing to look at. Bitcoin however is way more advanced and can be easily send around the world. Since bitcoin can never really loose its value -like gold-, Im on the side of bitcoin. Even if you have to admit that longterm gold will always be a good investment either.

Your talking from two mouths here.

"bitcoin can never really loose it's value"......... really.... Never loose it's value like gold...... really really really?

Wow, just wow..

Jim Jones actually served Flavor-aid not the "Kool Aid" as circulated. But drink up, use it as a mixer I don't care.
332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you be in favor of Gold or Bitcoin !! on: July 20, 2022, 01:36:20 PM
Ahh the good ol Gold vs BTC, Schiff vs Pomp and bloods vs crips street wars.

If you call yourself an investor and your all in / over heavy on any one thing your an idiot unless you own the company.

Gold and BTC are part of an overall portfolio.

Keep a plan, rebalance to it and keep emotion out of it. Example: I am removing my REIT's as the market has changed against them (bubble). I made money and move on, probably physical gold.

BTC? I bought a chunk at 19k and will sell it at 25k or Tuesday whichever comes first and will probably go into physical silver. Develop re entry plan after Wed shakes out. BTC is going to follow tech stocks until that changes, probably when the market cap is higher and better diversified around the world. Youtubers in moms basement pointing at candlesticks and intersecting lines and listening to people "beliefs" is for entertainment. Dalio, O'leary and the bunch all have a metals position.

Cypto is great, it's the future and the USD is crumbling and being challenged as a world currency. Who knows how this plays out.

I stay out and safe from the crypto circle jerks pumping eachother up to the moon.

In favor of gold or bitcoin? Both in the correct balance at the right time.
333  Economy / Economics / Re: Capitalizing on the strong US dollar? on: July 15, 2022, 08:54:47 PM
I keep US dollars only as savings. and not for investment. because considering the dollar currency is slightly more stable than other fiat currencies. But remember only for savings. while for investment I like to buy land or agricultural land. because the price of land will always continue to rise because the human population continues to increase rapidly and all of them need a place or land to build a place to live.

but for trading I like crypto because taking advantage of price fluctuations is a mental test but very profitable if you already know the technical analysis.

so I just use the power of US dollars as savings in my vault and not in the bank. because in the bank our money will always be reduced every month with various cuts. maybe you can also deposit it but it will be very difficult to take it if there is an urgent need because it is bound by the time of the agreement.

Yeah I keep some cash on hand. Being that I'm in the US most if not everything I have is US connected, having no confidence in the US gov't wants me to have a few thing "not us".

Property outside the us intrigues me but it's a beast I know nothing about at all but a stupid time share Smiley

My TRS model III still sits in my moms garage. I should gut the thing and hack a pc into it. Hmmmmm
336  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Texas bitcoin miners halt operations to save energy during heat wave on: July 15, 2022, 05:46:02 PM
And I have an interesting question about building mining farms in such an area? It is hot in summer, so the regulator will ask you to turn off the asics to save energy. It is cold in winter and the same situation will happen. Mining equipment must work.

Well in Texas space and power are cheap, west Texas is dry so water wall cooling works well.

Cheap power is probably the main driver of any farm. Purchase power agreements (and/or riders) that in a nutshell we will sell you this power deeply discounted when in excess (in the case of TX wind) and we will reward you as well when we need you to idle. The math makes it work out for everyone.

Here is a rider from my local power authority here in Oklahoma. They also have an agreement to "source" power from Hydro and wind to satisfy ESG requirements if desired.

337  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is like a venereal disease-- Charlie Munger on: July 15, 2022, 05:29:55 PM
Although, inspire of his negative impressions of BTC, it has proven to be a hedge against inflation and an alternative payment source that operates without government interference.
Yes to the latter, but the former? Eh.. probably try looking at the current charts.

BTC is currently still a risk asset. It could be an inflation hedge in the future, but definitely not today.

I wanted it to be a hedge against inflation and track against the stock market (tech).  So far it has done neither.

So between old school Munger and Buffet and tech/bitcoin probably is a middle ground of a balanced and managed portfolio.

People get hyped up in moms basement and make to the moon youtubes by looking at candlesticks, absurdity. Sure we all want it to the magic elixir and certain "200,000" bitcoin this year the pumpers say. But lets keep our expectations and exposures reasonable.

I think it's tough for a 90 year old to embrace the new. Get off my lawn kid.

PS If I was 90yo billionaire the last thing I would be doing is chasing money Smiley
338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Texas? Can Texas adopt BTC in some fashion? on: July 15, 2022, 05:15:12 AM
Forgive me in advance I'm operating in a sleep deprived delirium.

Welp, Tejas, my friends on the wrong side of the red river have been doing a bang up job on mining. Texas also has a unique place in the union which about all I know is they can leave. If legal I think it would be interesting to adopt it at a state level.

Ideas? thoughts?
339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fixes everything - how does it fix Pharma? on: July 15, 2022, 04:54:17 AM
Right from the Mayo Clinics website hoss.

340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fixes everything - how does it fix Pharma? on: July 15, 2022, 04:50:08 AM
bitcoin cant fix the pharma maybe they can only fix it with the data that can be stored through blockchain, but I hear that some of cryptocurrency work with the folidng@home to cure cancer although the folding@home itself although "Folding@home does not endorse any cryptocurrencies at this time but we are happy to engage with participants with a wide variety of motivations. Whether you’re interested in curing diseases, advancing our understanding of how the world works, seeing who can build the fastest computer, or earning cryptocurrency. "
as you can see at here https://foldingathome.org/2019/01/14/foldinghome-policy-on-cryptocurrencies/?lng=en-US

BANANO is one of crypto that work with folding@home https://cryptomining-blog.com/11570-earn-banano-ban-while-foldinghome-to-help-coronavirus-covid-19-fight/
Curecoin and so on and I hope crypto that helps real word pharma keep pop-up

Man, I was messing with folding at home like 20 years ago. I ran it on my Beowulf cluster machine. Run around after work bootp'n work PC to creat a bigger one.

I'll go check that out. Thanks for the old school memories, back when tech was exciting
