My review:

Anyone concerned about their privacy online, trying to have a secured communication and interaction with others without any of their data stored, should opt for this application which is not just available on Android device but also on PC. My first time experience was amazing, signing up was pretty easy (with just username and password), The Ai is quick with it's response and understanding about Uwallet/CRP was through its assistance. The Dev team has been doing well in respond ing to users...
323  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what would I do, if I paid for coin and the seller refused to release it. on: March 26, 2024, 04:18:59 PM
CEX reduce p2p scam risk but you should note that not all of these exchanges has good customers service  including Binance, just Thank God they responded to you because alot of binance customers gives them negative review for their customer service. It's advisable to check previous feedback from users who has done p2p with such party before deciding to do one with them

I might been giving the other party an excuse here, he might not have received the money sent due to his network and that’s why it took those hours and holding on to it was the best decision he took. There could be case where the money might be reversed back to you after releasing the coins to you. Trusting only receipts is bad in P2P.
Truly this might be but to be frank it's well known to everyone doing p2p in Nigeria the recommended banks to use to avoid situations of such, like Palmpay, Opay and some others while if the other party is not using any of these banks I opt for another party to avoid issues of such
324  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Bitcoin as an hedge for inflation on: March 26, 2024, 02:15:57 PM
Base on this news by Punch : https://punchng.com/argentines-abandon-dollars-for-bitcoin-to-tackle-inflation/

The citizens of Argentina has been looking for ways to fithe first week of March, the number of weekly Bitcoin purchases in the country increased to 34,700. That was more than double the number of buyers in February.

Argentina citizens finding a way to fight against Inflation and now opt for Bitcoin.
In the first week of March, the number of weekly Bitcoin purchase surge to 34,700, which is more than double of buyers in February.

The US dollar has been the go-to currency for Argentines in times of high inflation and instability, especially as the country’s economic woes often deteriorate the value of the peso.

The dollar has become widespread in Argentina and is even used to pay company salaries and Airbnb rentals.

However, over the last two months, the peso has gained 10 per cent on the dollar, reducing the appeal for the US dollar in the country.

Like the dollar, there is also a decline in demand for digital currencies tied to real-world currencies. Demand for Such digital tokens declined by 60 per cent to 70 per cent during Bitcoin’s price surge.

Recall that last year, Argentine President, Javier Milei, during his electoral campaign sold voters on the promise of dollarising Argentina’s economy.

However, since taking office in December, he has only devalued the official peso-to-dollar, saying it will take a long while before dollarisation becomes approachable.

Bitcoin is increasingly seen as a hedge for inflation around the world and Argentines are increasingly buying into it to fight the enormous 276 per cent inflation in their country.
Here is a proof that shows that even if our government decides to pay workers with dollars or fiat currency inflation will likely not seized because in Argentina, this is same situation they are experiencing though they are paid in dollar that didn't reduce inflation but since they opt for Bitcoin, their currency has added 10% in value in peering to dollar.

This is something some Nigerians, all of us here are aware of but there are still many Nigerians who will still want to hold dollar or any other stable coin or fiat currency instead of HODLing bitcoin but thank God for this current bull and coming halving which will bring more Nigerians to investing in bitcoin.
325  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Government demanding from Binance the lists of its Nigerian users on: March 26, 2024, 01:36:15 PM
How na? Nawao Nigeria na really a crush scene oh. Na dat dis guy e don escape weti go happen to Di second guy? Di way I dey see this escape na plan work. Well we ni go fit confirm or tok anything about Di escape foe now but let's us be waiting to see weti go happen next. Dis I e now dem fit shutdown the whole exchange in Di country. I also saw Di news on my google chrome newsline and I was about to read it when I got your notification and I left there to come here.  Nigeria Government would have settled dis case with Binance amicably but they prefer dragging it without solution.

Now that one don escape, the second one sef go escape under the SEC watch. Pump and plain SEC don collect something na make dem get Di ododo to escape.
This has nothing to do with the SEC, but you are not wrong that there is insider work. Not only one person but some people among the them made the escape possible.

The second executive will be monitored more than before. I can not say if he can escape or not but it will be more difficult than the first. But I believe there is some plans that we do not know now. Let us see what will happen.
This is proof that with the right price, you can get anything done just like how Tinubu became president, I guessed there's an high chance the other executive would escaped even if now the security is more tight it is still highly possible with the right price.
My reason for this is that, this man didn't just escape detainment but also got a Kenyan passport and traveled on air, guess we can say he has been planning this since he was detained

This week can be a really good opportunity for Liverpool to take the lead.
The chances of this not happening is still big I won't write off Arsenal to lose this game especially since KDB and Ederson are doubtful because even with them this match won't be an easy win against Arsenal especially now when Arsenal are on fire.
It has been confirmed that KDB will not play in the game against Arsenal, and Ederson is also still in the process of recovering himself.
Oh thanks for the correction, KDB being officially out makes things less difficult for Arsenal.
Quote
Arsenal was always on fire, but I remind you of the story of last season, when people had the same thought, like you, and Arsenal bottled the trophy at the end of the season, right? There are a lot of lessons to be learned from last season's result. The most important thing that if there is no guarantee when your team was on fire and it will be able to win the competition. The city will not try to miss an opportunity like this to ensure it will have a three-point gap in the arsenal. The away game at etihad stadium will give bigger pressure on arsenal since it must have won the game in order to keep up with liverpool as the

To be frank I thought by now this would be 2 horse race (City and Liverpool) especially when last year ending Arsenal keeps dropping points but since beginning of the year how they have played to get to this point as been amazing though I don't have high hope on them but don't want to write them off now because sometimes when a team is less impressive that's when they get a trophy.

Quote
It's hard to predict the outcome of the upcoming game, but if we are comparing the lineup, I must say that Arsenal is far better compared to manchester city, which has been missing some important players. City missed some important players and that's it. It has become my main concern this season.
This game is definitely of the most difficult game to predict this season, while Man city are having more surprising injury woes in comparison to their previous seasons, Arsenal had also received a fare share of it this season and Liverpool having more the heat now though Man city own share is quite bigger than the others.

Though Liverpool would have prefer a draw from this game but this is literally not happening (the chances is too slim) while other options will be Man city winning which might be risky in the remaining matches
Who knows whether City and Arsenal will draw? Liverpool can take advantage because it will help them widen the gap even further and help liverpool to get bigger chance to win the competition. After Arsenal's game against Manchester City, there will be a match between them and Liverpool. and this is also gonna be a very important match too The competition is becoming even more fierce, and I hope that the city will once again dominate the EPL this season.
Yes  a draw is possible but The chances of this is slim, aside Liverpool and Arsenal playing against each other, Arsenal still have a match against Chelsea, Manchester united and Aston villa
While Liverpool has Manchester united and Aston villa.
The only top team Man city has is Spurs which the other team also have to play also

But we can't disregard smaller teams fighting against relegation they are more dangerous here.

Quote
It's strange that the city won't be able to take the trophy this season, given that they've won it several times in a row. The EPL is becoming even more competitive than I expected.
The previous season was relatively easy for Manchester City because it only had Arsenal as a competitor. This time is even tougher than before. It appears that Liverpool is a strong club capable of winning the trophy at any time.
City can still win it but I don't want them to because it will make it seems like the Epl is too easy were as Pep is just too good but this season has not been really easy for them especially with their injury Woes and Liverpool being in a good form again not like last season

329  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin withstand attacks by state-level agents? on: March 25, 2024, 10:59:05 PM
I hear a lot about how safe bitcoin is. And 51% attacking it for a private person/ company does not make any sense and is unlikely.

But what would happen if a state wants to attack Bitcoin and uses a vast amount of compute budget (in the billions). What would happen?

Can you understand that in order to do 51% attack they would have to either buy some of the pools to redirect their power, either buy as many mining devices as needed to match the current power (let's approximate to buying as many mining devices as they are in use now)? Or, well, a mix of the two. I myself I'm unsure of the real magnitude of this number (of devices).
In the end 51% is not possible, Bitcoin is different from every other POW blockchain especially since the equipment to run this is infeasible

Quote
The thing is that even big mining companies may have to stay in the waiting list to buy the gear they need. So it would be a very slow and expensive task, not mentioning that since those billions would be taxpayers' money, if the government is a democracy, it will be the last thing (use of money) they'll approve before getting changed and the preorders canceled.
Even if most government always speak negatively about bitcoin they can't deny the fact that they need bitcoin to grow aside from the taxes some are also investors in a nutshell government will actually protect bitcoin from this.
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blacklisting Wallet Addresses Across Various Bitcoin Wallet Types on: March 25, 2024, 08:43:12 PM
Do you think this may be a feature that will be needed in the future for whatever reason best known to the user of the wallet?
This is a feature that can never be added to the Bitcoin Network because it's goes totally out of being decentralized to centralize.
Bitcoin is free for everyone to use the way they please while some may have use it for illicit things, every other currency even the fiat is not an exception but once the account can be trace to the owner then they will face the law, with the recent being Woman found with £2bn in Bitcoin convicted of money laundering arrangement offence https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-68620253.amp
While if this is for the reason to avoid Dusk attacks coin control is the best way to avoid it and this feature should be among the main features a good Bitcoin wallet should have
331  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Privately check on: March 24, 2024, 08:56:22 PM
I can't do this in Electrum. It wants private keys in WIF format but my list is in hex format  Huh

A 64 character private key should be in hexadecimal format and include 0-9 and A-F characters.

First you should convert your hex private key to WIF. To do so, you can use bitaddress.org.
Just Note that it's not safe to enter your private key on an online website and it's recommended to run the offline version of bitaddress on an air-gapped device.

After deriving the WIF private key, you can import your private key to a wallet and spend your fund. A good option is electrum and note that it's recommended to run electrum on an airgapped device.
click here to read the guide on how to make a transaction offline.
I would advise you to go through the entire thread

332  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Wetin fit make an experienced Bitcoin hodler to sale during bear run? on: March 24, 2024, 04:41:20 PM
Bitcoin investors who sell during bull run are those who go aggressively in investing in bitcoin with all or almost all of their funds on bitcoin and during the bear when they have some needs for money especially something unexpectedly they opt to sell in order to meet their needs and this is the reason is always advisable to have an emergency funds.
This is not just only to bitcoin investment but every investment, we ought to think of our means of survival and that's why we can't put of our funds on an investment.

Also another thing that can affect these investors is when they take loan to invest in bitcoin and then unable to pay back during deadline and so won't have any other choice than to sell

336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you stake it all put of over confidence in your club on: March 22, 2024, 05:30:37 PM
It is not good to bet with too much confidence as it carries risk most of the time. This happened to a friend of mine who spent all his life's savings on gambling with a lot of confidence in the hope of winning and then suffered a defeat and was mentally broken. We should learn from such mistakes that no matter how strong a team is there is no absolute guarantee of victory on the betting stage. It is foolish to spend life's savings. A sane person would never take such a wrong step knowing the odds of betting. Even if the team is strong, there will be a chance of losing.
Yes, you are right, self-confidence is fine as long as we don't overdo it which will waste all our money. Even though we really believe in a club being able to win, that is not a good thing to do, because in gambling there is always a risk, so it is better to keep betting on the minimum bet or a little bigger, as long as we don't put all our assets in the bet. the.

However, we have to keep thinking about what is good for us in the future, and risking all the money we have is not a good idea. Gambling must remain within certain limits, lest because of excessive self-confidence we do stupid things that we shouldn't do.

Don't think about the wins we will get when we bet, but we should also think about the losses we might get when betting. It's my way of staying on track when it comes to gambling. We must always be conscious and full of logic when we want to do something so that we don't regret it in the end.
Okay, look. You're talkin' about self-confidence like it's some magic bullet against losing your shirt gambling, but that ain't how it works, man. Yeah, confidence is good, but too much and it makes you stupid. Betting the minimum? Man, come on...that's like thinking you won't drown because you dip a toe in the ocean

You're talking about all this caution, trying to control things, but the whole damn game is about the opposite of that. Your future ain't coming from some lucky roll; it's about the choices you make right now. Gambling, that ain't a choice, it's a trap. It runs on that feeling like you're hot, or that you're about to get your money back if you keep playing...

Thing is, those losses? They ain't a maybe, they're baked into the whole thing. The game is designed so you lose long-term. You think you're staying on track, but that track is just leading you towards jumping off. It's more than the money, dude. You're gambling with your headspace, your whole outlook on things
To be frank this is a gambling addiction sugarcoat as over-confidence in gambling.
As a gambler having confidence in your prediction is important but this prediction shouldn't be made base on  luck instead with a proper analysis.
Regarding every prediction, risk should be calculated and gambling with life savings should never ever be an option.
Gamble with what you can afford to lose even if the win is small don't ever be tempted to increase it beyond anything that will affect you financially
337  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: I need help/advice on how to efficiently recover money invested in an ICO on: March 22, 2024, 05:02:15 PM

I guessed the most important would be getting a concrete proof would be the first thing here before getting a lower, though I don't really know much about legal issues but have thought about contacting SEC  in US and FCA contacting them after getting a solid proof that's a scam

I think this is what OP is currently seeking to do, to prepare all the necessary data to compile a conviction file through a lawyer or one of the competent bodies. It will not be easy for OP because, from what I understand, the rest of the users on the platform do not seem interested in favoring the hypothesis that OP is the most affected, as he is the largest investor.
Yes I get this, it will really be dishearten to anyone if they are in such situation, the Lord is his strength

Quote
The task is certainly not easy if we take into account that the company liquidated its assets and property in a legal manner. Proving that this is a confirmed scam will be a somewhat difficult process and may take some time longer than expected.
This is the reason I recommend him to reach out to this guy https://x.com/zachxbt
If you do follow him on X, you will see  he is good in investigating such scam.

339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Questions about pruned nodes. on: March 22, 2024, 03:07:59 PM
Also make sure you have a good RAM of at least 4Gb or even more so lagging won't be an issue also.
It should be noted that using 4GB Ram for syncing makes it slower I.e the higher the Ram used for syncing the faster synchronization, the Ram size as more effect in your syncing speed than your disk and so if your disk size meet the requirements to run node, you can try to increase your RAM in order to improve the whole process

In order to improve the syncing process, even the entire bitcoin Core performance, after setting your prone size use:

Code:
dbcache = half of the size of your ram in mb

[CHALLENGE] Run A Bitcoin Node: 14 Days To 14 Merits
In case you might face any challenges during setting your node you can check that thread, since there other members running a prune node
340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Quiz] Answer the Bitcoin question and earn merits! #2 on: March 22, 2024, 11:02:13 AM
So in the end the exactly didn't matter and I guessed this was why after this:

Pr (3 block) = 1 - (Pr( ≤2 block) + Pr (>3 block))
I still got the same 0.06133 which is roughly same as the 0.06131
But you're calculating exactly three in here. If P(block=3) = 1 - {every other possibility than P(block=3)), then you're calculating for exactly three. If you wanted to calculate for at least three, you would work out P(block >= 3), which is just 1 - P(block = 0) - P(block = 1) - P(block = 2) = 0.080302 ~= 8%.

I was actually working base on this
Question: What is the chance of having exactly three blocks mined within the next 10 minutes? You can assume that a new block is mined every 10 minutes on average.

Quote
Another fun fact. The probability of not finding any block for 10 minutes is the same as finding exactly one block; about 36.8%.
I actually discovered this earlier, yesterday during my calculations though didn't speak about it or actually showed my working after I got a value similar to the probability of mining 3 blocks https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/03/22/J7oDT.jpeg
https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/03/22/J77k1.jpeg
https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/03/22/J75Zl.jpeg

I wanted to check reality to see how often this occurred (start with Bitcoin block data available in CSV format, and download time.txt), but there is no accurate data on block times. In some cases the block time moves backwards.
That will be a little difficult. Block times are not accurate, as rightly said. Your best source of information is debug.log (in which it is written when your node received the blocks). But it won't be accurate either, because hashrate does not remain constant for a long time.
franky1 said this earlier on this thread
