But you get my point, if there is no real technical or conceptual justification, then why? Specially I wonder why would anyone want to keep/buy Silk if the nodes and most of the new stuff is going to happen around DrkSlk.
I truly sympathize with your argument. Sometimes conceptual justifications cannot be communicated in advance and we have to accept that mitigation is not really possible. Have faith, Slk's symbol is the phoenix after all ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) .

My question is what will be worth keeping? Silk or DRKSILK?
It seems the price of silk will directly affect the price od DRKSLK and vice versa.
I'm sort of wondering the same, and I'm still unable to understand what is the reason to keep 2 coins, why not only 1? Are they going to be used for different thing? Even if that's the same, why not only 1 coin? It takes two to tango... The important thing to understand is that, if DrkSlk implements all the new tech and Slk has none even then there will be creative ways to use/implement Slk. My advice if you want to support the Silk Network, hold a basket for both coins and watch what happens. I will not trade in my Slk for DrkSlk but only acquire (more)DrkSlk if the oppertunity is there. Now this might sound like papering over the cracks but im confident in this position. Good things are coming for Silk as well ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) .

The purpose is to provide a network that encapsulates two cryptographic currencies sharing a safe platform that is trusted and are trusted. Silk will be developed further, with Stormnodes, Smart Contracts and more. Weaver is a centralised site that utilises decentralised services. Transactions and messaging are decentralised and handled by either the Bitcoin, DarkSilk or Silk networks. If the fees are for transactions from a DarkSilk wallet to another DarkSilk wallet (same for BTC and SLK) the fees are that of the networks which goes to the nodes, plus a withdrawal fee which goes towards the funding of Weaver.
Are stormnodes necessary? DRKSLK will have them... Smart Contracts souds cool because its the hype of the moment but why not load all the tech on DRKSLK and do away with SLK? Now you are creating 2 coins which essentially could be loaded into one. This would make DRKSLK more attractive for investors. Now they will have to split their money, which with all the coins out there, has already been diluted several times over. Why choose SLK over Ethereum or Factom? Our aim is to decentralise the entire Weaver platform into both DarkSilk and Silk directly and onto the blockchain. We do not like centralisation in any form as much as the next user.
That is awesome. This was the only concern I had with the weaver! I would say that SLK is an easy gateway for users to start using and being a part of the Silk Network and DRKSLK is for the advanced user and as you put it, "an in-depth service layer", as such. SLK sounds like it is kept above average to appease the public, while DRKSLK is where its at. It is my believe that concessions get you killed, the public is a horrible mistress...

sounds like a lot of effort i think no one from my country blood bank/donation collector will even agree to talk to me about crypto currency
Sure but it sounds like a cool project to work on if you have spare time. no rush. just make sure there is no cost involved on their side, unless they are willing to sponsor ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) reading the FAQ on the local blood bank website. they say they need daily 1200 donations. that would be 5000 * 1200 every day. 6 mil BOD. in only 1 small country current inflation rate would not cover this. currently only 138240 BOD per day. and soon reward going to halve to 16
6mil for 1 country might seem a lot but if you are that far then the market cap might be more like 10-100 mil which means 50-500 coins per donor. also the coins do not need to come from inflation. sponsor donates money money is used to buy bloodcoin on market bloodcoin is added to the faucet and how can i verify ? maybe the paper wallet can be sealed. and blood donors will get information to check seal
thing is if you would distribute a box full of paperwallets someone could physically intercept the box. i would rather opt for wallets much like blockchain.info that have them. somehow access granted through proof of receipt or something. on location QR scan or something. this needs to be worked out/solved and developed but for now the pilot yeah sure paper wallet np
|
|
|
what will eventually happen is that you run out of bloodcoins again once sponsorship dries up. you will always be pressed to find new sponsors. so it needs to be linked to the donation itself, this way a real market will be created with a price for blood. think about it, kind of cool. sponsors would like to dictate where bloodcoins are distributed community might be able to vote on accepted sponsors (veto) you might be able to change the meaning of the term bloodmoney ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

this is nice idea, which someone already suggested (with less details) one problem - how do i get blood donations company to agree to give bloodcoins to each donor, or even listen about crypto coins ? i could print out paper wallets for that, with explanation where to download wallet and how to import the private key
First you would just need to be in contact. And enquire if they would be interested to do the hand out. If we get a response then great. You can imagine that paper wallets need some form of validation as well otherwise you would be handing out money for the taking. also this is decentralized coin. i don't have enough bloodcoins to distribute to many blood donors currently need to many BOD when selling, to even reach minimum BTC withdraw
Money never matters it will come. First a goal, an objective then deliberate steps. Much like the much used faucets we dont need to hand out much. Treat it as a pilot program first. Let's assume you aim for a market cap of 1M and you want to hand out $20.- given the current coin supply that would mean about 5000 coins. At current pricing that would mean between 2-5 $cent. The goal would be to create a network of bloodbanks. This means account managing for which an organisation needs to grow. Every step would build community confidence which increases price which is good in itself. Once sponors are ready to do their job you will be able to set adequate amounts. It would be like handing out shares before deposit. In the beginning a lot of bags might be dropped, but if the system works they will all be flushed out. Aim to accumulate as much as possible up front. Let the price drop to 0 and buy for a penny. i was donating blood too, but quit it because last time i became to dizzy and didn't feel good :O
eat your green veggies, kale smoothies are great for restoring red blood cells

here is an idea:
there is great need in the medical world for blood. to incentivise this might produce higher yields for blood banks.
once a person has donated blood he gets a wallet with a certain amount of value in bloodcoin. redeemable on the market (or any future purpose).
a coin is basicly storage for wealth it has an inflow and an outflow. the outflow i have just described, but without the inflow this would be worthless. there must be certain stakeholders in the world willing to sponsor. but first a network must be build where worthless coins could be distributed to (it could even grow into a donor community). Once realworld value has been estabished finding sponsors becomes more easy. With sponsor money bloodcoin is bought up to provide new "blood" for donors. Then value circulation is established and the coin gains purpose.

in many alts community is crying that dev leaving a coin. here its the opposite community leave coin+dev ![Cry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cry.gif) just keep going. if you can find a purpose for the coin. if you can keep adding focused features, communities are like birds they will flock to where the food is. I already put a lot of work starting with old quark code, moved to new quark code, and now using dash codebase (ported to quark POW algo) for start i will upgrade to latest dash, and create another fork. so we can have masternodes voting capabilities... I will also make block time slow and max tx size bigger masternodes with voting capabilities are cool but don't forget these are technical features found elsewhere you need something distinctive, not necessarily technological. we need to find a purpose for this coin, a reason to hold/use it. is there a vision behind this, or is it tech.practice?

Sorry for maybe a stupid question (although questions are never stupid)
I heared about Silkcoin dark platform update , just the ann isnt updated or not yet released ?
Can someone please give me a update what will happen to the old silkcoins , and the rate of convertion for new coins etc.
and maybe a short summary of what silkcoin dark will be ?
Best would be to follow(and retweet ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) ) the Silk Network on twitter. Updates, like the white paper, can be found there. https://twitter.com/Silk_Network/status/677776959255011328In short to answer your question: The old silk coins will be swapped for new silk coins at a 1:1 rate. Dark Silk will be a new coin to complement Silk. What is DarkSilk? ---------------- Algorithm: Scrypt Coin Suffix: DRKSLK PoW Period: 42,002 Blocks PoW Target Spacing: 2 Minutes PoW Difficulty Retarget: 8 Blocks PoW Reward per Block: 42 DRKSLK Full Confirmation: 10 Blocks Maturity: 42 Blocks PoS Target Spacing: 60 Seconds PoS Difficulty Retarget: 4 Blocks PoS Reward: 1 DRKSLK Static PoS Reward Minimum Confirmations for Stake: 420 Blocks PoS Min: 4 Hours PoS Max: Unlimited Total Coins: 90,000,000 DRKSLK Block Size: 50MB (50X Bitcoin Core) More information can be read in the white paper

44,000,000 SLK will be the initial money supply. Each year, because of the static PoS block reward of 2 SLK, only 986,175 SLK will be minted. The total money supply of Silk is hardcoded to 2 billion SLK and the network should reach that supply in about 1984 years.
My bold. That is presuming that every current SILK holder goes through the swap, correct? If not everyone SILK wallet participates, then the number could be less if I am not mistaken, n'est-ce pas? So it should be 44,000,000 less than or equal to will be the initial money supply. Might be an irrelevant point but wonderings occur. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nice Incorporation, SLievensDRKSLK, by the by... Murky waters... But in order to accommodate for every user these coins do need to exist. The swap period is indefinite this means that all coins need to stay in reserve, even if they have not yet been claimed.

It's good that you told about your previous develop. let's see where they are now - ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FZKuPu4s.png&t=663&c=hYDE3-JJVzEwgA) Why did you decide that Silkcoin not appear in the same place? When I said - puppets coins I had in mind this coin for replenishment pocket the developer. that is, a developer or his team create the coin with the noise and promises dizzying heights and organize pump. Then they sell their premine and move to a new coin. Why do you are turning this crypto market in the trash? With each coin which you created the concept of crypto currency depreciates. Why do not you just take part in the good projects with funding and long-term objectives and not kill faith in free money that could help people get rid of the shackles of state control. Just think about it. I will not say anything here. I hope someone is sober brain here and he will understand me. You are barking up the wrong tree my friend. Silk is about restoring faith in crypto. The project has a lot of depth.

2 billion coins in 150 years I bet this coin not last three years. Just look at the current crypto market that would understand the whole picture. In any case, good luck to the developer and to collect more Bitcoins for the next puppets coins ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) no man you are misunderstood 2 billion in 1984 years the inflation rate is a mere 2% per year to cover for coins lost combined with expected growth. its realistic. the other points you made are just slanderous

No unfortunately users don't seem to even know their own coin, even though they have invested in it and have been using for however long.
Silkcoin code (old Silkcoin):
static const int64_t MAX_MONEY = 2000000000 * COIN;
2 billion coins.
Sadly I think Greg did his math based on 200,000,000 coins which is incorrect, Greg has only joined in the last few days and doesn't have any previous dealings with Silkcoin, so he isn't to blame.
New Silk code:
static const int64_t MAX_MONEY = 2000000000 * COIN; // 2,000,000,000 Total SLK
^^^ Same as the old Silkcoin ^^^
The code is open-source for a reason. Look at main.h of the majority of altcoins and you will see the MAX_MONEY value.
OrsonJ, please understand the difference between MAX_MONEY and the total coins that are CURRENTLY in circulation. There are ~44 million Silkcoin in circulation and 2,000,000,000 total is the max amount that can EVER be produced.
Not being rude, not directed at you OrsonJ, but I have had to answer this question over and over and over again.
I find it a bit odd that people are aware that Bitcoin will only ever have a certain amount of coins ever and people are aware of this, but when it comes to altcoins that understanding seems to fly out of the window.
It is a bit worrying that there are a huge amount of people investing in something they do not fully understand. In fact this is very worrying.
I offered a Skype call with everyone and a Google+ hangout but no one attended, it is quite obvious that people have questions and also need teaching and guidance.
Oh and yes, I have just woken up, wish I had never gone to sleep lol
That there will be a limit on supply is understood. It's just that it feels counter intuitive to have a MAX_MONEY that goes far beyond our own lifespan. I shouldnt have doubted the 2billion number, but frankly im not really concerned with this 151 years for 200 million or by the same formula 2 billion in almost 2000 years. what is important is the fixed increase of 2SLK per block at a blocktime of 64s, i don't think i will live to see either number ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Why 2 billion silk when there's only currently 43 million silkcoin? It has a static increase. Inflation rate is about 2% per year and decreasing. it will take 151 years to reach 2 billion coins ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fs16.postimg.org%2Fbzk9riphx%2Fsilk_coin_supply.jpg&t=663&c=C2Tk5DO5hH91qg) correction paper says 200mln in 151 years if the supply is capped at 2 billion coins that would take 1984 years. i can wait for that ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

How there will be an exchange of old SILKCOIN for the new? At the Poloniex and Cryptsy exchanges the exchange will occur automatically?
The silknetwork site will carry a function called weaver. This weaver will be used to swap old.silk for new.silk. Close. Weaver is the platform containing a system to swap between Silkcoin(SILK) and the new Silk(SLK). function - platform with function potatoe - potato question answered i'd say ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

The silknetwork site will carry a function called weaver. This weaver will be used to swap old.silk for new.silk. Looks like some much better management skills have been implemented and this causes real investors to feel that this coin has any possibility of being legit as the crypto world is a disgusting filthy den of iniquity. I hope that some real honesty and upright behavior can be maintained. Keep up the good work and I have told my contacts to come back and have another look at the silkcoin. I will be checking out the prior pages to get up to speed on what is going on as its been a while. Good to see some positive prospects and will my contacts to come get up to speed also.
i've read into your history, i hope your wallet.dat problems were solved and that you have kept your coins. the silk network aspires to be something great. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Is it a question or an answer, and please give the image (or quote it)
? Dude the image is in my last post. You can use that. And my last post was me stating what i did with a question mark as to why you couldn't do the same. Also I really hate people jumping the gun. I want a properly formed marketing team, not just one guy trying his best to achieve whatever. Dude.. Chill. Hes just trying to help. And it seems that this coin can use a lot of help. The coin can use a lot of help indeed, but it is also about using the proper channels. This is a public space much like a front office, not a back office. What is brought into the public eye must be consistent or it will confuse the audience, those interested in making a monetary commitment. Maybe it is time to group/bring together people with certain interests/skills in order to coordinate their activities, but always in coordinance to the project vision. This thread will be more increasingly active in the coming weeks, people will want to step up, so this activity needs to be channeled in the right direction.

Okay so is the DRKSLK swap going to be straight 1:1 then?
Silk to new.Silk will be 1:1 DarkSilk will be a new coin Both are fundamental to the Silk network
