What do others think of Luc's inverted cup and handle suggestion?

Its a dream. No fucking way is that going to happen.
Worst case scenarios is another dip into the low 500s, but we will not be seeing sub 500 again.

As there is a lack of skepticism around motivation in this thread, I thought I should weight in here with a few cents.

Traders are in this business to make money. Even if they are "helping to educate", they still have their own motivation for doing so. I'm not saying that what Goomboo is doing is wrong, but I am saying that he is probably making a lot of money off of the people that are blindly following his advice in this thread.

For example: a trader that uses trading signals (especially bots) to execute trades regardless of other factors is highly predictable. In trading, probability is everything and if one is able to isolate exactly when others are going to be making trades, there is a huge amount of money to be made doing so because you can stack the orderbook to counter such trades. In this thread, he outlines exactly how to use predictable variables to find your own strategy. There are generations of programs that have been developed over the last 30 years that can detect these strategies (using pattern analysis) and bet against them to take the money that would have been made from these strategies.

With that in mind, be safe out there and happy trading.

New update on www.mtgox.com:

What language is that?

Holy shit, guys!  I know a lot of you are hurting, and I'm sorry.  150+ of my bitcoins are going down with the gox ship, but I can't quite express just how excited I am for the future of bitcoin without MtGox.  It's finally happening.  Good riddance, and fuck you, Gox!

Seriously. I just hope they don't somehow raise from the dead...

I am amazed that we didn't set record lows while I slept.

I am also equally amazed that gox is stupid enough to not be the first person to put out the statement related to their own situation. I imagine they have their heads stuck in the sand.

the PR on mtgox has been so horrible for so long, I am never surprised at the idiocy there.

750k coins gone however? That requires a new level of retardation.

I don't know whether gox opened btc outstream or not. But if it will open, all cheap coins (bought with $100+) will arrive into other exchanges where price is much higher. Think about it.

Sure some will, but not all. Most of these people are now realizing how risky it is to leave money on exchanges and learning their lesson so many will also be going to cold storage.

would be nice if it's at least visible to community, as this is open source project, isn't it.

I agree that open sourcing the task listwould be interesting, though not necessary if they do what they say they will do. For now I think its also fair to simply let them work as they have a clear deadline in march for the decentralized exchange.
334  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analysis never ends on: February 18, 2014, 07:56:16 AM

2 parallel channels and a sort of speculative trend.

First:

Don't get hung up about the 'red circle' wick. I know it's outside the channel, but you know, parallel channel lends it a bit of extra credibility yadda yadda.

My point being: There's a chance we're going back into the orange channel, which is not quite as terrible as the red one, but slowly grinding downwards. In other words, before declaring this bear market as being over I need to see some more evidence.

Then again:

It's a speculative one, I know. But don't dismiss completely out of hand, 3 pretty clear points of contact, and some decent volume going along with them. This could, perhaps, maybe, just saying, mark the bottom of our correction.

These are pretty much my thoughts exactly. However, I do think we are destined to test the 200 SMA on Bitstamp. It sits just over $450 today and will be at $500 within a couple of weeks and $550 in 4-5 weeks or so. So, while I think that long term trendline might tell us something about where we are going in the future, I think we probably break down below it for at least a little bit, unless Stamp can fend off a flash crash over the next 4-5 weeks.

I would be very surprised to see a daily close below 550 on stamp. I agree we could stagnate close here for a little while until we come in contact with the SMA 200 however.

Apologies if this has already been asked somewhere in the thread, but would you consider switching the data from mtgox to bitstamp? Even better maybe doing a weighted average of the top 2 or 3 exchanges combined?

Apparently this panic is all based on a whale moving out of gox... because he thinks its better to do it in Fiat... lol.

Also I removed mtgox from my graphs. It seems they trade with fake fiat they don't really have in backup which causes paradox price movements not confirmed with other exchanges.

This is unfortunately a likely serious problem... And I know it's more fundamental than TA, but it is going to be a very powerful influence when Gox blows up.

Nope, this is common knowledge now (for almost a year) and if it happens won't have as much of an effect on a price as everyone is expecting. Everybody is aware of this thing, even newbies - meaning it is priced in.

I think you should be more worried about countries banning btc, lagging development of btc features and the fact that a few years went by and btc ecosystem is still full of idiots, speculators and scammers.

Ya this has been priced in since may of last year pretty much. Gox could die and very few people in the community would really care.
