For anyone who can't get their wallet to sync, check the following:

Open the wallet and click on "Settings", "Options", "Network" and see if "Connect through Socks proxy" is checked. If it is, and most of you shouldn't need this, uncheck and click "Ok" then close and restart. I found this after pulling my hair out replacing blockchain and config files to no avail. Don't click "Apply", just click "Save" and restart. Mine synced very quickly after this.

Interesting thing is, I did not intentionally check this option. No guarantee but worth checking.

Proxy would mess up the connection, indeed. Good you have it figured out. Interestingly, that was not the issue on my side, still at a loss to explain why wallet had a stutter 2-3 weeks ago.

Think I am going to regret choosing KPMG and accounting over an IT startup in 2003 for the rest of my days ... another 50 years I am told Cheesy ... having to rely on coders is quite possibly the most soul wrenching experience in 17 years of work (and trust me when I say, I have seen everything in accounting .. everything)

Let me know your opinion. Do you think c-cex is a reputable exchange?
To be honest i don't believe to no exchange, i was great believer in MINTPAL, so i get burned. But i cannot say that exchanges are not necessary for coins..Tomorrow you can get up from bed and realised that BTC e is down, or Polo or Trex, what then?
But we still need them, or we can forget for distribution..

The lesser of two evils I suppose. As I said before, it's all about PR and getting the name in front of the investors. Remember, everyone who buys at least one CLOAK is an investor.
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLOAK]CloakCoin|X13|Enigma|CloakShield|Trustless Anonymous|Security Audit on: November 01, 2016, 01:59:55 PM
I do not agree. Why should we distribute the low volume even more? This make no sense. And c-cex is a lousy scam exchange.
Do you have references for such claims about scam? Share with us if you have real evidences..

We need betters distribution this is fact, this way we also avoiding price manipulation from one or two whales on major exchange.

+1 about scam i think its just rumors

+2 more distribution never hurts

Agree. The more people who see it, the more who might be tempted to get involved. It's all about PR really, tech comes second. Doesn't matter how good it is if no one knows about it.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] E-CurrencyCoin Thread [CryptoBank Development] on: November 01, 2016, 01:50:00 PM
The wallet stopped to sync with the network. A few months all was well, and three weeks ago, have been delayed. This is a problem of the developers or what?
There are wallets and other cryptocurrencies. They work fine.
What happened to the wallet of the cryptocurrency?

Everything is working for my wallet. Also the wallet from the blockexplorer (https://www.blockexperts.com/ecc#) and the peers seem to work fine. Maybe you need to update the wallet or do a resync.

There has been an update that requires a minimum protocol version 60021. So if you have an older wallet with lower than 60021 then your wallet will be kicked out

And where to look for this update? So stupid with the wallet. To fix it just to sell all the coins and forget about the coin with these developers.

So, what your saying is updates are stupid? But what you are not saying is that you did not read the forum nor did you run the wallet from time to time to keep it synced nor did you bother go to the OP for more information? I see, stupid, yes indeed...

I don't speak for my generation, a lot of them are pretty screwed up but, we didn't cause all the worlds problems nor can we fix them so, have at it and, good luck!  Grin

at least we can agree that there's a lot of messed up with both generations

Maybe we should blame the older generation for not teaching the young what a ballot box is, after all, 'Bregzit' might not have happened if the youth turnout matched the pensioner turnout.
Or maybe we should blame the establishment for distracting the young with celebritism and consumer gadgets.
Or maybe we should blame the establishment for pampering to the old's feeling of wealth since they are more likely to vote.
Or maybe we should blame the establishment for redirecting money creation from loans for business generation, towards loans for existing housing supply and consumerism, leading to an asset price explosion and an indebted and economically enslaved younger generation who for the first time in decades will be much worse off than those who lived before.

And therein lies one of the major stumbling blocks to any solution, blame. Can I blame the moon for replacing the sun at night? Sure, but where would it get me? Nowhere of course. Can I install electric lights so I can see again at night? Sure. that would be called a "solution" and it would take money, time and most importantly, work.

I think it will all work out in the long run if we can avoid destroying the planet or ourselves in the process but, we have to learn to accept failure right along with success. One does not exist without the other. It's like the people who continually DDOS this forum. Exactly what do they hope to gain? If it is a personal attack on theymos, they are just wasting their time. If it is a global attack on Bitcoin or crypto in general, they are still wasting their time, there are plenty of other places to discuss crypto and a few angry script kiddies aren't going to change anything.

It is ineffective in achieving whatever goal they have in mind yet they keep doing it. We need to stop "doing it" just because we can and work together toward the goal of transforming governments and social structures so they work with the people and for the people not against the people. Remember NOTHING is impossible, there is a peaceful solution to every problem as long as you have a bigger gun...  Cheesy

We can certainly agree on that. Common ground I would think.

I think it's good that the Pirate party didn't win this election. I'm an Pirate party supporter my self
Winning the next one will be better Smiley

There are many things that can go wrong here in the next 4 years and it would all been blamed on the Pirate party. because many people here fear the Pirate party, guess who? Cheesy

I'm 25 years old and my generation is getting really tired of the corruption here, more and more young Icelanders are moving out of the country thanks to high interest rates on loans
and over priced apartments. The health care system is been cut down, the police and the education. the food price is going up, they increase tax on food from 7% to 11% so they can decrease tax on
electronics :/  they say that the purchasing power is up and every one is happy, nothing has happened and everything is on the right track. except they are for getting the young people, old people, the disabled people, the police, the whole health care system and education system.

it will be interesting to see how they are going to fix all these problems when they don't even want to pay their taxes

I see you have the similar problems as in the USA, that 1950s generation sure don't want to let us run the world.

Babyboomers messed up the world, blame us, and now we have to fix it so they can enjoy their retirement  Angry

Interesting considering that "1950's generation" invented the technology you are using to make that statement. The problem is the senile politicians and bankers who can barely get out their easy chairs telling the rest of us how things need to be done. I'm part of the 50's generation and I, and many of my friends and relatives don't like the current state of affairs any more than you do. I was part of the "digital revolution" and still am. The problem is not us, its you and us and everyone because if we could all settle on one course of direction, the world would move toward it. But that would hinder individual thought and everyone's "right" to be anything they want no matter how ridiculous, offensive, stupid or downright dangerous that might be.

It's the fact that we are so splintered in our views and believes that there is little to no progress being made on many fronts. The guys from the 40's still run the governments for the most part, you know, the ones they wheel in wearing a bib....

PS: Not many of us are set to "enjoy our retirement" as most of us won't be able to afford to retire.

lol, most of you are regressive. hit a nerve I see

Sys coin keeps dropping. Might go to 500 by end of year

So, by the same "logic", the price is now rising, might go to 10000 by the end of the year...

Interesting analysis, always more than meets the eye. But, I would refrain from using the word "definitely" when speaking of anything political...  Smiley

I stand by it in this case. The cumulative probability density plot for the number of MPs for individual parties can be found here:
http://kosningaspa.is/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/thingmannaspa28-7.png

The statistical difference between the Pirates (P) and the Independence Party (D) is really quite exorbitant.

The Pirates remain the most likely to lead a government coalition, though.

And that's really what matters.
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: - AURORACOIN - on: October 29, 2016, 01:51:00 PM
Just to set expectations for the results of today's parliamentary elections in Iceland:

  • The Pirate Party is definitely not going to win as in becoming the biggest political party,
  • however, the bloc (APSV) controlled by the Pirates has a 58% chance of winning the majority of seats in the Althingi,
  • augmented to a 98% chance if the right-liberal C party joins the bloc, as they have been invited to, while
  • the current (BD) majority is 98% guaranteed to fall, and
  • the only majority not including the Pirates (BCD) is 42% likely.

For the mathematically inclined, here are the results of a statistically rigid Monte Carlo simulation based on a weighted and probability-distributed set of the latest polls:

Key to the figure:
The red line denotes the cut-off for a majority in the 63-seat Althingi
APSV=the Pirate-led (P) bloc
BD=the currently reigning parties
C=the new right-wing liberal (wildcard) party

Interesting analysis, always more than meets the eye. But, I would refrain from using the word "definitely" when speaking of anything political...

I was in conversation with the team @ Bittrex today.  I asked if they had seen this happening on other coins today, and they said they couldn't comment.  I wouldn't be surprised if you saw massive dumps on coins across the board in the coming weeks.

Tip of the day: place some rediculously low buy walls on coins that had cold wallets go missing from Cryptsy.  The great flood is about to happen.

-Fuse

Makes sense I suppose, no harm in placing those buy orders...

Someone took a 77K dump all over trex's buy wall.

Question for you: I've been invested in AUR for some time and just added another round to the wallet. I originally bought in shortly after the initial release because I liked the concept. I know there is no "crystal ball" but, what do you see happening this weekend and where do you see Auroracoin in the future?
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BitBay Thread |Smart Contracts Wallet UPDATE|Decentralized Marketplace on: October 27, 2016, 12:41:47 PM
So for the blockchain boost file...

I'd like to finish a tutorial video on it to accompany the next update on the client. I'm guessing it will have a new peer.dat file for better synchronicity.

So I need to ask again, after a noob installs the client and wants to use the blockchain boost file to speed up the sync process...
What would the instructions be?
Will it be as easy as the user unzipping the bootstrap file (being the bitbaydata folder)  and replacing the whole folder with the old bitbaydata folder in their existing BitBay directory?

Not sure how frequently have we been updating it? If it's a bootstrap they need to load it in a special way. If it's just exact copy of blockchain files the only need to paste it in the bitbaydata directory

Is it possible to have a copy of the blockchain files held at mega or some filehosting place until we can afford our own dedicated server? or is the file just too huge?

Well there was cryptochainer.com, but the owner is MIA. Such a shame why people put forth an effort to create something for crypto and then just vanish with no explanation.

But yeah I agree, as demand grows for it, I'm sure we'll get something set up to provide the quickest solution.

I've requested these guys add it:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1378653.msg14024451#msg14024451

They offer both Blockchain Snapshot and Bootstrap service.

Nice work Smiley

I swore before had 4 updates for October!  Huh

Why would that upset you? These updates are very important and can't be released without intense testing and vetting. I would rather they release zero updates than 4 if even one is broken. Relax and calm down, all is well...
