321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: End Goal or Keep HODLing? on: March 28, 2024, 10:59:24 PM
No one would invest and keep on holding till they die, everyone invest to gain profit, and they would surely take it when they reach their goal.
What's the point on investing if you wouldn't even use your profit? it is an investment not charity do you plan on just being a contributor to make the price higher?
Agree. There is no one who plans to hold Bitcoin until he dies. Everyone who buys Bitcoin must plan to sell their Bitcoin at a certain price. He must expect to take profits from the investment, it is a normal way of people in Bitcoin investment. Although there are people who hold Bitcoin for many years, I'm sure they will also sell the Bitcoin and take profits someday in the future.

It is pretty true that it doesn't make sense if people always keep holding without any purpose. Why people spend their money in Bitcoin if they never get profits? I sounds quite strange that there are people who never sell their Bitcoin. Honestly, I never met the typical of people who hold Bitcoin for many years.

While hodling can be profitable, but we will only come to realize those real profits if we decide to sell them after years of keeping them. That’s the only way where we can enjoy our hard-earned profits once we start selling them for real. However, we can always decide not to sell them all but sell just a portion of them, that is if we are still looking forward for our future profits. While bitcoin can satisfy our longing for profits, but knowing its value appreciates more in the years to come, then it’s best to sell them in portion every year so we can still increase the amount of our profits.
322  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies take bitcoin as long term Choice to get the best out of bitcoin on: March 28, 2024, 10:33:25 PM
One of the things that makes most newbie investors think this way is the kind of orientation that most of them have had since their first time with bitcoin. They have the impression that once you invest in bitcoin, you are sure of getting rich, but they don't know it's not something that is being done in a short time.

Another thing is that most people don't get proper information on how things work with bitcoin. They read a lot of success stories from those who have invested in bitcoin in the early stages and are not rich, flashing their luxury everywhere online, which is one of the reasons why most people choose to invest in bitcoin so that they can also enjoy such luxury, but they fail to study the time frame it took them to arrive there.
Majority of these newbies enter bitcoin investment thinking that it could be a get rich quick scheme. Probably because of those crypto influencers found in the social media where all they did is flexing their profits while continue to hide their real amount of losses. Not realizing that it will make them endure more losses at first before they will come to maximize their profits.

If this will be the mindset of a newbie, he will definitely end up losing with bitcoin. But if he gets the right information about bitcoin from the start, hence he will be more cautious in his investment and chose long term hodling than short term profiting.
323  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: advice for a beginner on: March 28, 2024, 09:51:50 PM
Hello, I'm a new trader. I started a month ago. I deposited $100, and now I've lost $40. Any advice for me? I watched some YouTube videos and found a technical analysis video which helped a lot. I started not losing as much. Sometimes I even earn. But even though, I feel so lost. Like every day, I see some random coins get boosted. Some people earn from how they know that coin will go up. I'm sorry for my bad English; it's not my first language.
If you want to trade you can't suddenly jump into gambling. You have to learn analysis and learn timing even then you will lose for a long time and gradually when you gain good experience on your trading you can avoid loss a lot but not old avoid.  Trading is risky like business. In trading you have to buy and sell physical goods and in trading you have to buy and sell digital coins/tokens which are highly volatile.
Rushing into trading without acquiring sufficient knowledge and experience will certainly end up like gambling. You can make some profits but definitely, the losses will outweigh your profits and this will continue to exist if you don’t learn even the basics in trading. Beginners are actually not advise to trade, unless they have developed their own skill and strategies and are ready to lose as there will always be inevitable losses most particularly for beginner traders. However, without consistent trading experience, these losses will be lessen while you continue to overcome those risks in trading.
324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Disable and hide gambling videos on Youtube on: March 25, 2024, 01:01:59 PM
I hate ads. I prefer YouTube premium. With YouTube premium, no ads. No annoyance.

What about the gambling ads that the YouTubers are advertising? You may be able to bypass the Google gambling ads on YouTube but you can not bypass the ads of the in there video contents.

I don't need youtube premium as brave browser could show me youtube videos without ads. I don't mind seeing gambling videos or ads in youtube but with this browser it makes me enjoy watching youtube videos without interruption coming from advertisements. Not sure why others are having problem with blocking ads when using the said browser could already solve it.
325  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 25, 2024, 12:26:11 PM
I'm back with another total bet and will try to extend it to five in a row if my luck doesn't fall off.

I saw the total bet on the Lakers vs. Pacers hovering a bit too high when their previous h2h matches ended with less than 240 points.

A few ways for this to go over is when they start fouling to force countless free throws or if both teams can land 60% of their shots.

Edit: My under is about to get busted based on the current pace of the game, it's too fast.  Lips sealed

Both teams almost scored 300 points in a game, they finished with a total of 295 points. this coudl be the biggest total of points this season I guess. It was the pace of the Pacers on this game but I'm surprise that the Lakers were able to play with the pace, I don't know they could score 250 points in a game, just an impressive match up for the two, Pacers try to avenge their loss during the in season finals but fall short.
326  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: brazil sanctioned law that taxes online betting in the country on: March 25, 2024, 11:21:12 AM
Although the government aims to increase the legal security and revenue, it seems unfair that bettors are taxed on their winnings without consideration for their losses. It's also concerning that tax applies regardless of the size of winnings. The government should be balance and have fair taxation policies.
I completely agree with you on this, Mate. Taxing bettors on their profits while ignoring their losses can be extremely unjust, and it is not a system that fosters fairness or equity. It appears that the government is setting individuals up for failure by taxing them regardless of the magnitude of their wins. I believe there are several other possible solutions to this problem, such as a system in which losses can be subtracted from gains before taxes are imposed.
I disagree with you. The government done care if you lose or win in gambling, they have given a tax on betting, and it will stand. It is left for the gambler to choose if he is to quit or continue if he can't afford those taxes. There is no difference on those on putting taxes on people with kiosk shops and trucking businesses to casino sites. They don't earn make much money from the business, but they pay their taxes whether they make profit, or they make loses.
You can't compare to legit business to gambling as they are exactly different.

When you are running a business, the success rate is high or say most of the people doing business are profitable but would only differ on profit since some are so blessed that they were able to grow their company overtime. However, gambling is quite different as we don't treat it as a business, in fact, most of us gamblers are losing money which makes casino being so profitable, so taxing our winning but neglecting our losses is just unfair to me, government are not anymore doing their job which is to server what's good for the people as gamblers are also peopel which has the right.
327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we still truly achieve anonymous gambling in crypto? on: March 25, 2024, 08:13:42 AM
Crypto has been known for anonymity. During the early stage, we like to promote it using the words "decentralized" and "anonymous ", and it's the main reason why a lot of gamblers have chosen to gamble using crypto to gain full privacy, but it seems like things have really change a lot now as gamblers are looking for a casino that are licensed while some casinos who promotes anonymous gambling eventually act like a fiat casino that requires KYC.

What do you think about this one, where is are we heading? And can we still consider crypto casino different from fiat casino?

The nature of crypto remains same as it was but since more people are using cryptos now governments and regulators drawn frameworks for operating a casino and this is why KYC is becoming mandatory on every crypto casino too but still it can give privacy not anonymity which is different from one another but we don't need to worry that much when you choose to play and get verified in a casino that took time to build it's reputation.

Of couse you won't see a problem when you are gambling in a reputable casino and you verify yourself with its KYC. However, if you are into gambling valuing anonymity over anything else, then it will not work with centralizd casino or best known as regulated casino because when government is in charge, we all  follow to their standard law they implement.

There's a reason for KYC, and that is to prevent crime like money laundering, but what if the government itself is the evil? If that is the case then our information are not safe anymore since they have access of our info, and could require a casino to disclose all our transactions. This came to my mind after watching series of conspiracy theory movies but I believe it's hapenning or could happen in real life
328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 25, 2024, 06:20:11 AM
As for the Rockets, they are continuing their winning streak, and looking at their remaining games, most of them are against bottom teams already compare to the Warriors that has a harder schedule than them. TBH, I'm thinking that the Rockets might end up getting that 10th spot or even the 9th if they continue to play like this. Surprisingly, they are doing this without Sengun. I guess it's a blessing in disguise for the team because players like Jalen Green and others are stepping up, still fighting for that play-in spot.
It is indeed very surprising that they are doing this without Sengun. I find it almost incredible that how these players are playing now, compare to 1-2 months ago or even last year. It almost seems like something magical has happened. That being said, they were up against some relatively easy teams and managed to got the Ws but they are in the mood now, they will probably continue having a streak. They play with a different tactic without Sengun, which is very normal. There is only one reason for their new success, and that is that they started to made threes. Last month they shot so badly that it was very difficult for them to win games in the nba.
Will based on my observation most of those team they defeated in last 10 games are not even making playoffs or even make play-in tournament this year and should they really win against that team (Jazz, Portland, Spurs and Wizzard). Even they're close to Warriors for able to play play-in tournament still for me they will not making this play-in tournament this year. And I think these last 12 games only 3 games of them will win for Rockets.
Still plenty of games to be played mate. Anything can happen, the Warriors, Lakers and the Rockets, they are close to each other but it's also possible tha teams above them might drop in ranking. The Warriors really struggled, I mean they loss again the Wolves, their 4th quarter was bad and Klay could not sink the game tying game. Timberwolves are just too good this season, they loss KAT but they are still rolling.

The Warriors? I guess I like to bet on them to make it to the playoffs, if there's an odds, I like to see. Also, I checked the championships odds in the last few days and I see the Warriors having an odds of x45, guess it's very attractive, what do you think?
329  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 25, 2024, 04:51:57 AM

People would understand if when they let Teng and Ahamnissi  they also have added some players with the same quality of the players they let go. Thing now is different, they are playing like an undermanned team, so when they didn't even look like a championship when the two was still in the team, now they should look like the same team in the farm division.  Grin

Yup, better when they let both players they've used their cap to hire decent players who can really provide them the lift and continue being a contender, but instead they just let them go and continue playing with what is left for them, just playing without any chance of winning the game.

Same with your assessment with the current roster, they might be weaker than those known farm teams.
This season is the best testament that they have become one of the worst team in the PBA. They are still winless, but after this long break, let's see if they could really figure out how to start winning.

They are at the bottom of standing (https://pba.ph/standings) 0-5 so far, this team still has a little hope but it will take a miracle for them to improve. Even getting at least 1 win this season, I think it will help a bit to boast their confidence as currently they don't have the same confidence anymore.

I don't know what would happen to this team but adding to the list of farm terms affects the reputation the league more. and nowadays, with the social media platforms, people could hear some rumors against the league that they might be disappointed.

Indeed, but the show must continue, even if they add themselve to the famr team list, no effects for the league officiating officials, as long as they are recieving their paychecks the league will proceed.

There's no reason for them to stay in that team if that is a farm team. I think there are players in the team that has a potential to play overseas, they should choose that path instead.
330  Other / Off-topic / Re: Dont chase your loss on: March 24, 2024, 10:56:36 AM
I mean personally if I started to budget my gambling like 100$ I already consider it as a loss fund, because there might be a higher chance of losing it than winning, and it wouldn't going to hurt that much anymore since I already gave it up. That is why you should always just put a very low percentage of your income on gambling an amount that you could easily let go of or afford to lose, something where you could easily recover from it.

Great mindset, you'll never lose a lot of money with the way you think. However, you'll also not gonna be profitable as a gambler because you already concede from the very beginning, if you want to be successful, you need to build that confidence and treat your bankroll a very important one that you need to grow and protect. By saying protect, it means chasing losses has no room for you as you follow the right system for bankroll management.
331  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Always check the deposit address on: March 24, 2024, 10:00:54 AM
You can of course recover your funds but it might take time as they need to check the system if that wallet address really belong to you. Your account his history of deposits, and once they found that the address was deposited once, that means it already belonged to you and any further deposits coming in should be credited to you.

Thanks for the warning anyway, I don't know but I think I have tried it before, but most of the time when I take a loan, I'm using my exchange wallet address but make sure to verify it before I post it in the lending thread.
332  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rollbit locked/pending withdrawals on: March 24, 2024, 06:16:59 AM
I am not quite certain if this has been mentioned in this thread before, however, everyone should first test their ID for KYC confirmation before sending very big deposits on any gambling website and also confirm that people under their jurisdiction are allowed to play in this website. Having a small amount of money frozen is okay, however, having more than $10k frozen in a casino because you did not read the terms of service or you did not test your ID for KYC is partly the bettor's responsibility.
That should be the standard practice as a way to ensure or minimize the risk. However, OP did mentioned that he hit a life changing win, so his normal bets are not that huge until he hit the jackpot, now he has a problem getting it out as his account is already frozen due the issues mentioned above. If OP did not win that big, probably his journey will continue, but as a gambler, sometimes we aim for a jackpot but OP just could not comply with the KYC since his country is in the list of restricted for gambling. I think Rollbit here would win in this legal battle as OP did violate the TOS.
333  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: March 24, 2024, 05:26:57 AM
..it clearly shows that Coverge doesn't play defense, no wonder they are at the bottom now.

On the other hand, even though there's a defense, Magnolia is just draining every shot at every field. With a 52% percentage shooting they did, it means they are having hot hands that night that even well defended, their shots are draining every time.

Besides, I don't expect Converge to shine at the All-local Conference. They are clear to be eliminated after the regular games ended.

They are usually seen as competitive only during import conferences. I hope they can snipe a good import in the next import conference.

Converge is really not the same anymore ever since they let Ahamnissi ang Jeron Teng go. And there's a rumor that coach Ayo will be replace soon. I don't know if there can still make something to make this team competitive, because even if they have a good coach but the lack of quality players is the major problem I see in this team.

It was a good start but after they let Teng and Ahamnissi its obvious that they are  not here to compete,  it's an easy negotiation with players who can provide decent numbers,  most of the good teams are willing to pay the price just to keep their competitiveness and have that chance winning the game, but it was different with how Converge doing it now, they are just playing to continue their stay from the league but in terms of trying to reach the finals there's no trace from the management to increase their chances, and with rumors that coach Ayo will be replaced it adds up to the point  that  they might be a part now of a farming team.

People would understand if when they let Teng and Ahamnissi  they also have added some players with the same quality of the players they let go. Thing now is different, they are playing like an undermanned team, so when they didn't even look like a championship when the two was still in the team, now they should look like the same team in the farm division.  Grin

334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: in future are you hoping to see some countries in Africa legalis bitcoin. on: March 23, 2024, 10:55:30 PM
@OP it is not only Africa but other parts of the world.  I really hoping to see the global country accept Bitcoin as mode of payment.  I am hopeful that those countries that is hostile to Bitcoin to have a change of heart and accept Bitcoin and make it legal in those country to engage in Bitcoin trading, investment and integration.

I am hoping to see countries like Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, Guyana, Lesotho, Libya and Zimbabwe that have implicit bans on cryptocurrency and countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and China that has absolute ban on cryptocurrency[1], see and get enlightened by the benefits of countries that accept Bitcoin and have their bans on Bitcoin get lifted and start making laws that allows the use of Bitcoin in their jurisdictions.

[1] https://www.investopedia.com/articles/forex/041515/countries-where-bitcoin-legal-illegal.asp
Change is coming and I stand for it. If we have heard some countries that have lifted their bans on bitcoin or cryptocurrency, then it will also be possible with these countries that you have mentioned above. It will only take a change of government officials, because if we come to put those silent bitcoin enthusiasts like Bukele in El Salvador, then we can expect that these government will change their perception as well towards bitcoin. I know it’s going to happen later on, it’s just that when it will take effect remains left uncertain for everyone.
335  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Quick way to learn bitcoin trading on: March 23, 2024, 09:38:07 PM
Trading has more to do with practice than just theory.

Yes, you will read and watch video but minus practicing and keeping important aspects like your emotions in check, then you will have learned little about trading. Trading material is almost everywhere. YouTube, invest, investopedia.com, fool.com, babypips.com etc

You need to have a demo accounts in one of the exchanges so that you can actually practice trading too after a while.
Certainly, yes. Trading is more on learning by doing. While there are free resources scattered online, yet focusing on theories will only make you knowledgeable but being being skillful itself will only be gain through consistent experience. There are those who said that they have been acquainted with the right information about bitcoin trading even the technical analysis thing but still they end up often losing their funds when they trade. This only proves that being knowledgeable is not enough, but building your own skills and strategies through frequent experience in the market will help you mold to be more of a reliable trader.
336  Economy / Economics / Re: Everything is over priced but people keep spending on: March 23, 2024, 08:42:41 PM
If you think that you have to be rich first to be able to invest, then this is a wrong perspective, because they can also be rich from the investments they make. And despite all the difficulties you experience, it is therefore important for us to be able to set aside a little of the income we earn to save and also to start an investment. You don't need a lot, just as much as you can, as long as this is done consistently. Don't let it be a week before you save money in a piggy bank, for example, and you have to open it again because someone is selling it in front of your house.

The current situation is indeed difficult, where prices of basic necessities have experienced quite significant price increases. But this is not an issue that can prevent us from saving and investing. In fact, we must be able to learn from the difficulties we are currently experiencing, because we will never know whether tomorrow will be better than today, or vice versa...? And if we are able to prepare everything from the start, of course the next day we will find the same difficulties again.
I believe with this rising inflation that made all our basic commodities price surge high, it comes to challenge how we will manage our finances most especially if we are only earning a minimal income. Saving might be highly compromised but we should know that saving is highly important as well as it can cater unpredictable events in the future, so we should still find ways to save irregardless of the remaining amount from our salary. When we can save consistently, investing should be the next plan. As saving alone might not give us the best advantage if we can’t use them for investing at some point.
337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: March 23, 2024, 06:16:44 AM
I just noticed this a few days ago one of my siblings has been a bad addicted gambler, and I have to come back here to discuss it because it’s similar to this topic he have a bit of stealing and gambling at the same time and my parents has been worried about what is going on on his life. He is not concentrating in his studies at school every time he’s talking about making money making money and one day I ask him this money you are talking about what is your plan on making this money he said he have a game and he starts to even convince me to give him some money to play the game by the time I took my time and investigate. I find out that this guy is so much gambling and it has been a problem to my family.
Your family needs to make an effort to get your sibling away from gambling as soon as possible, as the longer the period of time a person remains addicted, the more difficult it is for that person to improve their condition, it seems your sibling has the mistaken notion he can make money by gambling, so try to show him this is not the case, but be very careful, as at that stage it is not rare for him to believe he is in complete control and he can stop gambling whenever he wants, so he may take offense because of your advice.
They say  "we learned the hard way".. this is what addiction is all about. When we are too persistent to gamble because we thought we had the formula to win but failed to evaluate if our strategy is working, then that's obviously being one sided and we will never know that we are addicted. That's why I say we learned the hard way because some people does not listen from the advise of their family and they still keep going, however, the moment they'll lose everything, that's when they realize they already ****** up... That's just life man, some figure out early, some late.
338  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 23, 2024, 05:18:37 AM
Too bad for the Warriors they can't win another game.

They fall to the Pacers at home because of their bad 3 point shooting, Warriors shot 29% only while the Pacers shot 42%, huge difference, and we know when the Warriors are struggling outside, they'll likely lose the game, and that's what happen. With that loss they are now 36-33 at number 10 which is followed by the hot streaking rockets with 34-35... they are now close to each other and I'm afraid the Warriors will fall and will miss the play-in.

By the way lakers won vs the Sixers, so they are safe now from dropping in ranking.
339  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help a newbie with links to useful threads on: March 22, 2024, 11:02:11 PM
You can choose to stay in your local for discussions that you're familiar with in your language. But you seem to have an understandable English and I can say that you're better than me so should you join other boards for discussions, don't get scared as long as you don't get off topic.

I have a lot of questions and I don't want to stress everyone with my many questions hence the reason why I am asking for  links to useful threads. Thanks for your help.
No worries, ask what you want to ask and check out the stickies first from this section and if you're done, go with the other sections.
If you have limited knowledge on other boards, then you can stay on your own local board and make quality posts there. However, exploring the other boards as well will help you grow in the forum, so don’t limit your self in your local board when you know you also have relevant information that you can share in other boards.

I guess all the links that have posted above are good enough to serve as your guide. My only advice is always keep your interest to learn in the forum because that will serve as your strength and motivation to keep going and keep acquiring learning while you are still in the process of exploration and discovery.
340  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might reach $100k before halviing. What is your exit strategy? on: March 22, 2024, 09:40:22 PM
Bitcoin is rising upwards in terms of price continuously. Many are predicting that it will reach $100k before halving. In case that happens, do you plan to exit at that price level because of possible correction at that levels ? What is your exit strategy  with bitcoin once it reaches $100k?
Currently the Bitcoin market has grown a lot. I think Bitcoin could rise in this pumping market and reach a high of $80,000.  Since Bitcoin is reaching its new ATH right now, $80k might be my target. Then since we are not technically analysts we cannot do proper analysis. But I think bitcoin won't reach $100k before halving Bitcoin may reach $100k-$170k in upcoming bull market after halving. But market analysis is not the end of investment, only if you can go with the investment, market analysis will be successful.
Currently, bitcoin is priced at $62k and it’s only a month from now before we will witness bitcoin halving, so $100k might be somehow unrealistic to achieve for me. Although bitcoin moves unpredictably, but if this price correction will stay for almost a month, then it’s hard to say that we will hit $100k before bitcoin halving starts.

However, reaching $80k might have chances that we will hit that point. If not before halving, then most probably by the start of bull run, it would certainly be highly possible.
