3203  Economy / Economics / Re: Why I'm selling with fixed BTC price on: April 07, 2014, 12:17:29 PM
The way I see it is:

We are now living in a new ERA.
There WILL be various currencies but this time they will all be crypto.

You will have the Crypto-Dollar and the Crypto-Euro.

It is the next step for all governments to do.

That being said: Bitcoin will stay forever as you are now exchanging BTC to Dollars.
It will then become BTC to Crypto-Dollars.

That's what I see happening.

3204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin foundation and child porn on: April 07, 2014, 12:06:56 PM
all i think it's really horrible that major torrent sites like Btmon.com still provide that kind of shit for free.

can't they shut down that horrible stuff?

i mean sex is fine and all.  but if you record it you encourage other people to do it (including regular porn).  and half the actors are on meth or something

NO, that is because they are pedophiles themselves!
3205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin foundation and child porn on: April 07, 2014, 11:54:18 AM
They should stop linking bitcoin directly to all kind of criminality. Instead, put the real bad asses to jail. If you destroy the source, all other indirect measures are not needed anymore. This applies for all kind of currencies in my opinion

+1

Besides, what have the authorities done other than shut down SilkRoad and seize a cool $80Mil.
There are other black markets and I am guessing child pornography on Tor.

What are they doing about it?
They are paid for a reason.

Let's not forget that ALL of these things don't happen because people want to make Bitcoins.
It happens because they want to make (fiat) money.

I am guessing if it was just Bitcoins we would know WHO gave WHAT to WHO for WHAT.

Correct me if I am wrong here....

3206  Economy / Economics / Re: Why did bitcoin value fall? on: April 07, 2014, 11:21:14 AM
The real reason that the price went does down is STUPIDITY!

People were panicking and selling coins like idiots.

I think you have your answer now Wink

Edit: Fixed that Smiley

3210  Economy / Economics / Re: Government Conspiracy To Kill Bitcoin? on: April 06, 2014, 01:13:58 PM
Government Conspiracy To subdue and "control" the Bitcoin ecosystem is much more likely.
Just look...They are all around us...

+1
Besides, how many millions does the Federal Reserve "print" each day?
Imagine if they used some of those IOUs and purchased a HUGE amount of coins.
They win!
And the price goes up of course  Grin but that means they win twice....
So they will change IOUs with something of REAL value - because to me the Bitcoin platform offers real value.

That's just my opinion.

EDIT: $1Bn = BTC2222222.222222222 @ $450
The price would sky rocket and they would be the majority.
3211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here's an interesting question.... on: April 06, 2014, 05:14:38 AM
That is exactly what they should do....

I'm not following the logic of why a government would want to do this.

I am not saying that they want to do this, I am saying that they should do this.
Just like they "do" with the illegal drugs they seize Wink

It is none the less the biggest part of an illegal act!
It's all about the money right?
3212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopolous raising funds for Dorian Nakamoto on: April 06, 2014, 05:04:42 AM
Anyone that believes Andreas will be anything short of honest must have a screw or two loose.

First, Mr. Antonopoulos has always been a very honest, forthright, and generous person.  Second, the amount of BTC donated here is quite small compared to what it would cost Andreas if he attempted any sort of scam.  The damage that would do to his reputation would directly impact his own finances, due to the stigma it would put on the businesses he either owns, or is involved with.

Personally, I think he is a legitimately good person, and has only the best intentions.  But, even if you were to assume that is not true, it would still make no sense for him to steal a sum this size.  Now, if this fund contained thousands of BTC, then I could understand a bit of concern over transparency...but that is not the case.  Let him handle it as he wants, and he will get it to Mr. Nakamoto when, and how, it is most convenient to himself, and to Dorian.

absolutely.  and if Augusto Croppo has any doubts, put your money where your mouth is.
I'll give you 10 to 1 odds.

I am in for that.

I bet all my coins that Andreas will deliver as soon as he is back from his time out.
Anyone willing to take my bet?
3213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to bitcoin when the lights go out? on: April 06, 2014, 04:55:02 AM
The world does not revolve around the United States.
There are other countries too.

So I am pretty sure that Bitcoin will continue unless there is a worldwide blackout but even then there are establishments with photovoltaics Wink

3214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here's an interesting question.... on: April 05, 2014, 08:39:41 PM
Logically those coins should be destroyed, but is there any way to prove that they are?
It is possible to "burn" coins by sending them to invalid address, just like CounterParty did.

Why all this talk of "burning" coins?   There's nothing inherently illegal about bitcoin.   It would make as much sense as for the government to burn stacks of US currency seized in a drug bust.

That is exactly what they should do....
3215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopolous raising funds for Dorian Nakamoto on: April 05, 2014, 07:24:45 PM
community showed support, great thing Smiley happy to be part of it

Do you feel proud to be part of a pre-order money grab scheme? I am start to think this money will be never donated to Mr Nakamoto. Greed has corrupted most of the big enterprises behind Bitcoin. Why this is going to be different anyway?

I don't know if you know but Andreas did say he was taking some time off....

Stay off the shrooms.....

Some people just cannot handle it!  Roll Eyes

It was Krokodil, not shrooms. Much more potent, and cheap too.

Shit man.
I saw pictures of what that thing does to people's flesh.
Krokodil indeed!

Scary shit.
3218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple vs Bitcoin on: April 05, 2014, 08:28:33 AM
Ripple VS Bitcoin?

Are you honestly making that comparison?
There is NOTHING to compare.

Btw what happened to the open source code of Ripple?

3219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction confirmation time down on: April 04, 2014, 11:00:33 PM
Average confirmation time of ~10 minutes is still quite significant. Won't cause any problem for the online shoppers. But people who want to use BTC for retail shopping won't be able to do it.

Retail transactions are routinely performed at 0 confirmations, because transaction propagation alone validates any given transaction better than any other payment method in existence already. 10 minute blocks being a hindrance to retail application is the biggest myth that absolutely refuses to die.

Except as a business owner I'm not giving you ANYTHING till I see 3 confirmations.

There is really no need for that. Once you see the transaction go through, even without confirmations, you are safe.
The transaction will end up going through...there is no way for the purchaser to reverse it once you see it show up.

OK, I thought that having 51% of the hashing power allows you to do just that and more....
3220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why satoshi doesn't come forward on: April 04, 2014, 10:53:56 PM
If you made tons of money off this would you want everyone to know about it, including the IRS?

This is where'd I be. If I made millions over millions in net worth, I wouldn't want anybody (IRS, family, friends, etc) knowing what I had. Even more so if there is a public ledger with the details of everything I would own.

How much of your income actually belongs to you?

I can tell you that 80% of what you are making goes to the gov and the banks.

Think about it....
Even if you want to do something simple like take a piss, you are taxed on the water you use to flash the toilet.....

Food for thoughts don't you think?
