Hey there!
Is there any way to make bitcoins other than just using our computers' resources to solve puzzles and eventually earn'em? (Like freelancing)
Yes if you have skills there are people that are willing to pay for it. Right now web development is the best. That is how I make most my my coins.

if anyone has squarespace you should give them like an extra $25 cause that is just epic!!! And huge respect to them.
Hauling diesel fuel in buckets up 17 flights of stairwells slippery because of fuel and water. Would you want to be in a building where they are doing that, and the emergency exit stairwell is where the fire starts? They don't deserve a medal, they deserve to be prosecuted for endangering people's lives in the pursuit of profit. No one was in the building but them, so no. Also how did they make a profit? They get paid the same if they just let the servers go down, email everyone "Hey we having a hurricane, server's generator's fuel pump got flooded nothing we can do".

WOW do you guys not get out, and talk to females, WHO EVER PUTS OUT A LOAN CAUSE THE PERSON IS OF THE OPPOSITE SEX NEEDS TO GET A REAL LIFE.
Loans should be based on many different things which have nothing to do with gender.
EDIT: anyone wants to know how to talk to girls pm me and for 1 btcs I will teach you the secret.

I think your confused at who your aduience is cause in the beginning of that post you say since the main concerns of the devs, the venture-capital types, and the managers & startup types at the event aren't
then you say My talk isn't aimed at THOSE people - it's aimed at people who want to sell apps and market products and services to the general public, a lot of whom WILL be those people...
Also I really think your unqualified to give a talk, cause you really need to sale the developers cause "venture capital types" and "managers' and "startup types" will not do anything if there developers don't want to do it, or don't think it is worth there time. I really think your misunderstood these types of people.

Fair criticisms, all. I was planning on talking about API access, and ease-of-use for mobile devs etc. I just thought it would help to show that the coin does NOT have to be solely digital; that it can have a physical manifestation that holds value in itself since it has the magic number on it ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I mentioned the idea to the organiser and he thought it would be a great way of showing the duality of the physical/virtual divide; ie. here's physical bitcoin, but really it's the number that's important, but that doesn't mean you can't trade the coins as well. As long as they still have the hologram on them, then they're also valid bitcoin... And yes, I know the casascius coins weren't originally intended for trading, but you CAN use them to trade; offline trades in places that don't/can't have network access, or can't wait for confirms. The only downside they have is once they're "spent", they're hard to recharge (I think the makes offer new stickers but of course they're not as trustworthy as original)...I guess we need a "smart" card that can be exchanged or used to exchange coin that costs very little but can store the numbers inside it... I saw a demo of that sometime ago on the forums...maybe in a year or two it will be ready... Focus on the api, the protocol and how it works, as a developer don't waste time with stupid casascius coins. I would show them quickly explain why they are cool move on 2 mins tops. As a developer tell me how this api works, how to start accepting bitcoins, and how to secure my wallet. Three main goals of what your talk should be. Also give some history.

Charlie,
This is a private forum that was first set up by the MtGox people (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong), and it's managed by the admin they appointed.
It is Theymos' right and obligation to remove those who are harming the quality of these forums. The ban was not a result of bias, there were plenty of neutral reasons to ban Goat: he was trolling and belligerent. Just because Theymos has a personal disagreement with someone does not give them ban-immunity or a free pass to troll. He did the right thing.
This forum was here wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy before mt gox was here, it was setup up by satoshi and sirus i am pretty sure. Mt gox just host's the forum that is there only involvement with it.

Question time... Why do you need a casascius coin? If these are developers they going to want to see the API, software, examples of things built and being successful.
Also this is a general question not just picking on you, but once in awhile someone comes along and goes "HEY GUYS, I am giving a talk donate." Isn't this what testnet is for? I think same things can be accomplished by showing off the testnet instead of real bitcoins, it is there for a reason.

At this point it is hard to earn money mining. Although many are anticipating the release of ASICs, I have my doubts they'll see the light of day for at least a year (if not more).
Really? What information do you have to back this up, pyramining, will have an ASIC within the next 2-3 months. Remember BFL doesn't make the only ASIC in town. Check your facts.

UPDATE:Currently recovering bitcoin payments made in error, account closing has been halted until most of this has been recovered
So never cause some people will not return it THAT IS GREAT! SO DANDY! You should read carefully... "until MOST of this has been recovered". That means nefario isnt thinking that he will get everything back. That sounds at least sane because its probable that it will be this way. Have seen how many people returned hardly any and he got lucky that he paid one person 250 twice and they returned one of the 250's so yea, i did read

As I understood from what he is saying he is actually not buying anything and just wants to mine with his pc that he already uses for gaming.
He could mine with it in a pool for a while before it is not profitable anymore.
Even pool mining is dead for GPUs unless he is buying a game for like $1 he aint going to make much, like I said before or maybe I was speaking another language. I feel like no one wants to admit that mining is for the big dogs now, but it is sorry your late get in line.

Why switch when you can dual boot or run it inside a VM? best of both worlds
and you can use openoffice I think they can export to word compatible file formats Tor works, utorrent works, but I would recommend rutorrent it is better on linux VLC runs on linux and can play avi files minecraft is java so yes no wine type program to run mac programs

Well, that would make sense and be a valid point if it was a dedicated mining rig and not jst a way to make a little bit of pocket money to fund games for said gaming rig. But seeings as I already own the hardware, have sufficient cooling, and the part where my build is not overkill for what I need it to do in the time I use it, your post was a useless to me, if not a little insulting.
The torrent seeding was merely to show that I don't leech off of other's work.
I don't know how torrent seeding shows you don't leech LOL your downloading copyrighted stuff obviously right there your leeching off of someone else's hard work for free. Also when it halves and even now you will not make any pocket money, you wouldn't even break even. Save your money buy a $13k asic machine and then you be making pocket change.
|
|
|
How does seeding torrent files have ANYTHING to do with you being a good member of this community? Ram has no impact on how well you mine bitcoins hope you know that.
To answer your question, DON"T MINE, IT IS A WASTE OF TIME, YOU STARTED TOO LATE, unless your ready to purchase an ASIC machine then you shouldn't ask that question.
For someone with a very high IQ you don't do good research. I would go back to that person that test you and demand a refund.
