3221  Local / العربية (Arabic) / Re: تنبيه.. تنبيه.. محفظة احتيالية on: July 07, 2021, 11:29:13 PM

3225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BitcoinCore: How to use bumpfee command the right way? on: July 04, 2021, 09:14:21 PM
What version do you use? For versions older than 0.21 the fee_rate must be in btc per Kvb.

Converting 20 sat/vb gives us 0.0002 btc/Kvb. So if you're using an old version replace 20 by 0.0002 and see if it works.

Also make sure that:
    - the new fee is higher than the original fee plus relay fee.
    - the change output or inputs in your wallet are enough to cover the difference.
Otherwise the transaction will fail.

Since version 0.21 the fee rate is in sat/vb, for older versions it's in btc/Kvb
3226  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: A problem with creating a new wallet on android version of electrum on: July 04, 2021, 08:42:18 PM
Anyways, that shouldn't be the correct behavior. After updating to 4.1.0 (and above), you have to unlock the wallet to create a new one and the newly created wallet has the same password as the wallet that you've unlocked. However, this shouldn't convert the passwords of any other wallets. If you go to Settings > Password, you should be able to see "Change your password for this wallet". This means that the password change only effects the current wallet.
This is correct, but in my case I changed the password for the newly created wallet and since all my old wallets had the same password, the change affected all of them.
When I went to Settings - > Password, it said "change password" not "Change your password for this wallet".
Well, everything is well described on the release notes, but a small warning on the app would be nice too!
3227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Happens to the People Wanting to Run a Node in 20+ Years? on: July 04, 2021, 08:02:05 PM
With the accelerating pace of technological change, I believe soon it will be possible to run full nodes even on mobile devices. In the meantime, am pretty sure some solutions will be introduced to reduce the blockchain size or the time it takes to download it and synchronize with the network.

Will pruned nodes be their only option?
By running a pruned node you still need to download all the blocks. It only helps solving the storage issue as you will keep only the most recent blocks. Besides, we will still need others to run full nodes for the network to work.
3228  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wallets that don't require identity verification on: July 04, 2021, 06:40:35 PM
I do not recommend using web wallets, but if for some reason, you have no other alternatives and this is your only option, at least make sure it's a non-custodial one. Meaning it gives you access to your wallet seed/private keys. This way you will have full control over your wallet and you can recover it any time you want.
Blockchain.com is a non-custodial wallet and does not ask for kyc. They also have an open source app if you want to use it on your mobile.
3229  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Beatzcoins exchange on: July 04, 2021, 05:51:28 PM
No one should use this service, it's clearly a scam.
The domain name is only two days old and yet they claim they have more than 700k users!
Also, they claim they have been operating since 2013 but there is no mention of them on any crypto-related website.

The registrant organisation is Kraken group and Beatzcoins is the name of a coin already listed on CMC. Clearly they used these names to give the impression that they are legit.
3230  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Binance P2P on: July 04, 2021, 03:18:06 PM
Using a VPN isn't going to help here since Binance require identity verification to be able to use their p2p service. They will lock your account if they find out you are from a banned country.
If the other party doesn't mind, then you can use any other p2p exchange which doesn't restrict your country or even better use a truly decentralized service such as Bisq or Hodl Hodl where you don't have to worry about country restrictions.
3231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BITCOIN RECEIVE ADDRESS FROM ELECTRUM DIDNT WORK WHY on: July 03, 2021, 11:31:59 PM
And I'm assuming the ability to generate "Legacy" 2FA accounts was also "hidden" along with "legacy" standard wallets starting from version 4.1.0 ? Huh
Yes, it was possible to choose whether you want to create a segwit 2FA wallet (bc1) or legacy 2fa wallet (3). Here is a screen shot from version 4.0.1:

But since version 4.1.0 this option was removed and it's only possible to create segwit 2fa wallets from GUI.
For legacy you will have to use the console.
3232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Viewing advertisements and getting paid with Ethereum on: July 03, 2021, 11:16:54 PM
I never heard of this ETH Ads before. I just want to point out that having a referral program doesn't necessarily mean it's a pyramid scheme. If it has multiple levels and/or offer unrealistic revenue on referrees than it's most likely a scam.
Even if this service is legit, do you think it's worth it? Just think of how much time you Will have to spend clicking on ads and visiting links that might be for phishing websites. Not to mention the effort and time needed to promote your referral link!
3233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BITCOIN RECEIVE ADDRESS FROM ELECTRUM DIDNT WORK WHY on: July 03, 2021, 10:01:50 PM
make_seed(seed_type="legacy") is not a valid command.
Thank you hosseinimr for correcting me, I edited my post with the correct syntax. The funny thing is that the correct syntax is already in the post I quoted. Sorry for this  Embarrassed

Quote
make_seed(seed_type="2fa") works. It can be used for creating a non-segwit 2FA (starting with 3) wallet in electrum while the GUI only allows you to create a segwit 2FA wallet.

Thank you again for confirming it works. I couldn't test it myself as I don't have access to any pc right now.
Since OP want to withdraw from a service that doesn't support bech32 addresses and he want to create a 2fa wallet then his only option is to create addresses that start with "3".
3234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BITCOIN RECEIVE ADDRESS FROM ELECTRUM DIDNT WORK WHY on: July 03, 2021, 09:00:34 PM
make_seed(seed_type="standard") on the console and it doesnt do anything

but i figure  a work around i started over
Are you sure you didn't make any typo? Try to copy paste the command and see if it works.
Not sure if there is any workaround for this unless you install an older version of Electrum or use the command line (even then, you will've to use the same command!).

Quote
i really wanted to use my google aunthenticator but that option only lets me use a legacy address
so i had to ditch out being able to use google aunthenticator
To create a 2fa wallet you need a 2fa seed. If you enter a legacy seed Electrum will create a legacy wallet.

I didn't try this so am not sure if it's going to work: Use the same command as above but replace seed_type="standard" with seed_type="2fa". If it generates a seed then you can use it to create a 2fa wallet.
Code:
make_seed(seed_type="2fa")
3235  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Multi GPU on Multi Server Question on: July 03, 2021, 07:23:24 PM
but you can't combine the power of all distributed servers in one single process. what i want is to have the processing power of all rented servers ( let us say 5 servers whereby each server has like 5 GPUs), so total processing power will be (5 GPUs power X 5 Servers).
Actually you can. You are not going to combine the power of all thisr servers in a single process, rather, you will split the work among them.
The "--worker" command on BTCRecover is what allows you to do this.
Those servers don't even have to connect to each other.
You can read the documentation about the "--worker" command and how to spread the work across multiple servers here: https://docs.btcrecover.org/en/latest/Usage_Examples/2020-05-23_multi_device_descrambling_12_word_seed_with_extras/Example_multi_device_descrambling_12_word_seed_with_extras/
3236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Important Factors while joining a new Casino on: July 03, 2021, 06:04:22 PM
The first thing I check is the licence. If they are licence then this is usually a good sign.
I don't care much about the design of the casino as much as I care about its features and the games it offers. However, a responsive web design and an easy navigation is a must for me.
Then, there is the provably fair system. If the games aren't provably fair or there is no explanation how to easily verify the results then there is no way I would make a deposit on such casino.
Another factor which is important for me too, is the support team, they must be responsive and able to answer any question.
3237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terms and condition a must read before signing up any online gambling site on: July 02, 2021, 11:55:51 PM
The ToS is like a contract between you and the service you want to use. You have to read it all to know your rights and your obligations. Ticking the "I have read and agree to the ToS" box before registration is the same as signing a contract.
If you ignore it and don't read it because it's too long then you should not complain when the service bans your account and seizes your funds because you've unintentionally broke one of the rules stated in the ToS.
3238  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: A problem with creating a new wallet on android version of electrum on: July 02, 2021, 09:31:48 PM
I would classify it as a feature rather than the issue.
The problem is that there is no way to know about these major changes unless you visit the github repo and read the Relase_Notes each time there is a new release and I believe the majority of users don't do/don't like to do that.

I recently updated Electrum on my mobile (with many wallets on it) and wasn't aware of the new feature. Later, I created a new wallet and set a new password for it for testing purposes which I didn't save (since it was a testing wallet). Few days later, I was chocked that I couldn't access any of my main wallets using their original passwords. Luckily, I always back up my wallets seeds but you can imagine how unpleasant this experience was!
3239  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do crypto payment gateways work? on: July 02, 2021, 03:31:11 PM
Yes. The payee will have a database full of Bitcoin addresses, preferably derived from a master public key, along with an extra empty column. Each time a person clicks to finish his shopping cart, the database will update that column with the selected products he wants to buy.
I believe it will be more efficient if the system generates the new receiving address and add it to the database along with the other data only when a new order is created. This will minimize interaction with the database.

Besides BitPay, do you have any other scripts in mind?
You can use a self-hosted payment processor such as Btcpay and run your own server or use a third party service like Coinpayments (some members do not recommend using it).
3240  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: XCOINS.com.es SCAM on: July 01, 2021, 11:10:14 PM
https://web.archive.org/web/20210701164951/http://xcoins.com.es/policy

They not allow me to withdrawal my funds without ID, but this is not mointed when i register and accept their terms and policy.
I'm not trying to defend xcoins here but it's clearly stated in their Privacy and Policy page -linked in op- that they have the right to collect their customers personal information:
If you wish to use any of our services, we will collect and retain certain relevant data of yours, including some of your personal information.

Personal information in this instance is defined as:

Personal Identification: Full name, date of birth, age, nationality, gender, signature, utility bills, photographs, phone number, home address, and/or email.
Formal Identification: Passport number, driver’s license details, national identity card details, photograph identification cards, and/or visa information

Right now, the best thing to do is to send them the documents so you can withdraw your money. Not sure if this is still possible after they banned your account, though.
