You don't claim chargeback from individuals, because individuals don't have facility to accept card payments.
From my experience, card txs are not always immediately recorded (already stated one extreme example of tx taking 2 weeks to show in statement). Usually it would change 'available funds' amount immediately (except for weekends) and appear in statement on a later date.
It doesn't matter if bank allows you to spend unsettled amounts. When customer successfully claims chargeback, they would still take that amount from your account, possibly putting you in debt, this won't happen with bank transfers.


Prices of goods/services are the same, but many merchants, or even government institutions (ie DVLA), or airlines, would charge you extra for paying with card (mostly applicable for credit cards). Some won't accept credit cards at all, some would require minimum amount spent etc. Around here, many local newsagents would charge you ~£0.50 for paying debit card etc.

What do you mean by 'local currency becomes higher in price'? Deflation? If so, that is most likely to happen during the crisis, not prosperity. Most governments aim to have a healthy rate of inflation.

Wire transfers and card txs are not the same thing. You can't directly use card to send money to another individual. Also card transactions are not free, there are fees attached payable by merchants and usually are included in price of goods/services and are not instant. When paying with card, the recipient accepts payment instantly (because he knows tx has been approved), but the transaction are not yet settled (+ there's a chargeback period). I remember on one occasion it took ~2 weeks for the debit card payment to be recorded and taken from my account, usually it takes 1-2 working days, while most of bank transfers within UK are instant and free.

The chance of hitting 13 losses streak is the same as when you bet hi or lo for every bet. Mixing hi/lo won't increase your winning chances.

But obviously that's not a great news for Bitcoin, it'll be considered slow and expensive way of transacting and its only advantages over fiat left would be: decentralisation (questionable), censorship-free, fixed supply. But those virtues are probably not very appealing to the average Joe.

@OP, have you created that FB page on your own initiative, or have they instructed you to create/maintain it as part of contractual agreement? Have you signed a contract with them at all? If so, are matters like this specified in it?

I'd say you likely got nothing to worry about, the fact that you're in different country makes it extra complicated for them, even if they had a good grounds to sue, which I think they don't.

Plus, if it was a case of trademark infringement, they could talk directly to Facebook and get that sorted.

Realistic factors that could move the price up:

1 - Negative interest rates becoming more common, it surely would drive some people to put a portion of their money into BTC/other crypto
2 - Moving towards cashless society concept. When physical cash is no longer available, but Bitcoin usage is allowed, that would take the price to a whole new level. That's off course only if Bitcoin can scale.

What's not forbidden, is allowed, so there's nothing illegal in mixing bitcoins.

But, if you earned your bitcoins in legit way and just want to mix them for the privacy reason, it's always a good practice to keep a record of your transactions (ie deposit/withdrawal txs to mixing service) along with a receipt from mixing site (if provided), so you can produce some sort of proof if authorities ever question your income.

I know it's some kind of sickness and shouldn't be laughed about, but you can't take him seriously after that.

But if say Monero is stolen and exchange can't afford to cover losses from their own pocket, that would also affect BTC/ETH deposits. Exchange would have to limit deposits for every user, until they're solvent again.


So the insurance is paid out only if exchange goes bankrupt after the hack? Otherwise, every exchange will have to compensate their users, they'd have to allocate a portion of their fee income to cover the loss. The problem is, no one knows whether they'll manage to recover and how long will it take (could be a decade etc).

And how would that work in case of say Mt Gox? Afaik the process is still ongoing and it's still uncertain what are the losses and how much will they manage to recover.

2 - if significant value of other alts are stolen, that would affect all holders. Unless exchange can cover losses themselves, they'd have to freeze a portion of every account.

4 - then hacker/exchange (or anyone aware of the hack before announcement) could easily drain entire inchain's capital
