3221  Economy / Economics / Re: Can a new $2 trillion bill bring back the US economy to pre pandemic levels. on: October 16, 2020, 06:45:02 AM
The last time they had a similar stimulus measure was sometime in 2009-10, after the economic recession. It helped in restarting the economy, but most of the money was used in recapitalizing major banks and other corporations. Very small fraction ended up with small and medium-sized businesses. I hope that this time it will not be the case. Because small and medium sized businesses are disproportionately affected, and they need this help badly.
3222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: October 16, 2020, 06:33:09 AM
@JSRAW I don’t think that any sane cricket fan can be upset by this statement, because he’s spoken the truth, and I’m pretty sure that even ICC knows this too, but if they were to implement test matches only between those nations suggested by him, then they would incur the backlash of the remaining test nations. Furthermore if this pandemic lasts longer then people would prefer only going to T20 matches, because Test matches could be called off if multiple spectators got infected, and that could kill the fun of watching test matches.

There is no point in staging meaningless bilateral series between two teams of unequal strength. Ideally, they should divide the test playing divisions equally, in to two divisions of 12 each. But what they did is a joke. They created two divisions. But the first division is having 9 teams and the second division is having 3 teams. And on top of that, there is no option of promotion/relegation.
3223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 16, 2020, 06:21:27 AM
Chris Gayle is back in the Kings XI squad and that helped them to end their losing streak. After five consecutive defeats, they will be having a victory today. Stupidity from RCB also helped. It was difficult to understand why they should send Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube ahead of AB de Villiers. That prevented the RCB batsmen from making a total in excess of 200.
The reason Kohli said about sending Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube ahead of AB de Villiers is to keep the left right combination which was dumb as AB de Villiers could score much faster than any of these players in the team.

Chris Gayle played well but i do not think he is really fit and the ground was small and if he could perform the same in bigger grounds then he will be an asset but i think it is too late for them.

Having left-right combination is good, but that doesn't mean that you should send in lower order batsmen at no. 3 or no.4. Both Sundar and Dube struggled against the bowling and they chewed up a lot of balls, leaving Kohli frustrated at the other end. And I couldn't notice any impact of the left-right combo on the bowlers (Ravi Bishnoi/ Murugan Ashwin). They bowled very tidely, without any error.
3224  Economy / Economics / Re: Show me shops where i can spend crypto ...crypto is useless... on: October 15, 2020, 07:36:52 AM
Go to Bitrefill. You can find gift cards for almost all the stores, and these cards can be purchased using BTC, ETH or other cryptocurrencies. You can use these gift cards to make payments, when you visit Starbucks or Walmart next time. So don't claim that Bitcoin is useless for doing shopping. If you know how to use it, then you will be able to do shopping using BTC almost anywhere.
3225  Economy / Economics / Re: Pandemic: good for the bitcoin market or bad? on: October 15, 2020, 07:05:47 AM
If you take a close look at the cryptocurrency market, you can see that the pandemic had a negative impact on the performance of Bitcoin and other cryptos. We were expecting a big spike after the block reward halving in May. To this date, this spike has not realized and I believe that the economic downturn caused by the pandemic is one of the reasons for that.
3226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 15, 2020, 06:16:43 AM
KXIP will take this match seriously and almost every match is do or die match for them and I hope they will give out their 100% to win this match.RCB is stronger side though and they have better probability to win this match but IPL is an unpredictable tournament, anything can happen at any match.

KXIP should blame themselves for whatever happened to them so far. KL Rahul's captaincy has been appalling, and they have persisted with the players even after repeated poor performances. They have some of the best players available, such as KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Glenn Maxwell, Mohammed Shami, Sheldon Cottrell.etc. But their performance on the field doesn't match their star power.
3227  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: October 15, 2020, 05:44:16 AM
This labor force slowly began to feel economic difficulties, so slowly began to need money and chose to eat instead of buying masks.
We know that masks protect us from viruses, but eating can sustain us

Masks are not that expensive. The cheapest ones are available from $0.20 onwards. So there is no truth in claiming that people are not buying masks, because they can't afford it. On top of that, a lot of governmental and non-governmental agencies are providing masks for free. Loss of jobs has been a major issue during this pandemic. But then, job losses happen all the time (although on a much smaller scale), and we need to be always prepared for it. We need to build up our savings, when we have the job.
3228  Economy / Economics / Re: Will African countries be developed? on: October 15, 2020, 05:21:48 AM
That's the thing, foreign helps mostly sucking their natural resources. Knowing that Africa don't have any capabilities and with corrupt leaders they continue to suffer.

They are good as they've got rich in natural resources but they don't have advance knowledge and system to take advantages of everything.

It takes time, but the willingness of their people to learn and to have dedicated leaders
will make all of this to happen and increase the potential of this nations.

I have seen a lot of posts in this thread claiming that Africa is very rich in natural resources. There is no doubt that Africa has a lot of natural resources, which are waiting to be extracted. But this abundance can be an advantage, as well as a curse. Take the case of Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It is one of the major sources of copper, diamonds, coltan and cassiterite. But this has resulted in foreign powers supporting various militias inside the DRC, in order to take control of these mining operations.
3229  Other / Politics & Society / Re: USA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS 2020: Michael Moore says Trump on course to win ! on: October 15, 2020, 05:03:27 AM
Capital gains tax in my country used to be the same as income tax, with a cherry on top, so about 60%. 23,8% is nothing in comparison. It has now been lowered to 30% and most concerned people find it's a good compromise (hardcore leftists are unhappy of course). For small investors (most people) as long as you use a special account the tax is 0%, the account can be filled up to 150000€ and you need to wait 8 years before getting money out to have the 0% tax.

15% in the US for multi millionaires and billionaires is clearly too low, even they are starting to say it out loud. They're basically hoarding all the cash the state is printing, with zero benefit to the economy or the common people.

If there is 60% tax on capital gains, then who is going to invest in stocks and real estate? For the rich, nowadays it is very easy to purchase passports from smaller nations such as Dominica and Antigua. This allows them to invest in stock markets outside their nation with relative ease. Only the middle-class will get affected by this sky-high tax rate.

Just to give an example, the capital gains tax in India is 10%. And the Indian stock markets have performed at the same level, or even better when compared to the stock markets in US or the UK in recent times. So what prevents the rich from moving their assets form the US/UK to countries such as India?
3230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 15, 2020, 04:52:47 AM
Yesterday's match was a completely one sider match, I hate such matches in the T20 format. It was known that DC would win but expected RR to give them a tough fight.

LOL.. yesterday's match was anything but a one-sided match. The winning probability changed so many times and RR had a good chance of victory, even after losing their top batsmen. It was a match between two teams of equal strength. Delhi Capitals prevailed in the end, because they had better depth-over bowlers in Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. Also, Tewatia magic didn't worked for RR yesterday.
3231  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN basher, the Liar 'John McAfee' is finally Arrested on: October 15, 2020, 04:35:48 AM
Tax evasion is a criminal case and he was proven guilty of it.  I don't think it has something to do with cryptocurrency.

Nope. You are wrong. It is related to cryptocurrency.

During 2017-18, John McAfee received at least $23.1 million for promoting various scam ICOs. These promotions were mostly done through his official account. He never paid any income tax on this income. And the current charge against him is related to tax evasion on the above mentioned amount. So it will be wrong to say that his arrest doesn't have anything to do with cryptocurrencies.
3232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ClipX steals KYC data and shuts down on: October 14, 2020, 06:08:56 AM
This news was not very surprising to me. The KYC scam is going on for many years and very few have raised any objection to it. It amazes me that people are ready to send the scanned copy of their passports and national ID cards to unknown people, so that they could earn $10 or $20 from the bounties. Given the level of identity theft going on these days, any such step sounds suicidal for me.
3233  Economy / Economics / Re: Not enough Corona Virus Vaccine until 2024, at earliest on: October 14, 2020, 05:56:33 AM
For me personally?i don't care how many vaccine will be created and supplied because it is still the people who will be the responsible for their sickness.

This is a very irresponsible statement. COVID 19 has infected even those who took proper precautions such as mask and facial shield. And a large number of the infected are from the medical sector, including doctors and nurses. Are you saying that these people are responsible for their sickness? So what they could have done? Should they refrain from treating COVID 19 patients, in order to keep themselves safe from this virus?
3234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Now Bounty Program totally worth less !! 90% Bounties are scam on: October 14, 2020, 05:43:20 AM
well there is no other choice to leave it because the conditions of the current exchange place which are not good also make many projects that have tokens collapsed in price and in my opinion as long as the team in Telegram is still active to respond and provide good information, it will recover something later.
not necessarily, group activity on telegram does not guarantee that the project will recover. all depends on the performance of the team on the project. I mean, even if they answer the questions on telegram but they don't work well then the project will still die

Agreed. I have seen telegram groups which have regular updates, but also have a history of scamming the bounty hunters. But this can be one of the red flags. If the telegram group of a bounty or a project is not active for a long time, then we can assume that there are some issues with them. But the reverse can't be always true. Just because a telegram channel is active, you can't claim that all is well within the project.
3235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker started to eliminate tokens stolen from KuCoin on: October 14, 2020, 05:33:30 AM
I think they have sold some of the stolen tokens into ETH already, but still have not move the ETH yet.
The stolen ETH will be very hard to move without being traced and the hacker will be caught if we can trace their ETH address thoroughly.

Some of their tokens and ETH was frozen by the exchanges. So now they will be trying to liquidate them using the DEX sites. Anyway, it is going to be very difficult for them to convert these crypto assets to fiat cash. Converting from one cryptocurrency to another cryptocurrency is not that difficult. But that is not the case when you convert cryptocurrency to fiat cash. It is next to impossible to stay 100% anonymous.
3236  Economy / Economics / Re: Will African countries be developed? on: October 14, 2020, 05:23:09 AM
When it comes to the natural resources, Africa is highly rich. However, the technology and human resources of Africa is not yet advance compared to other continents in the world. In addition, corruption in the side of the government is still occurring in every part of the continent. I have friends who work in South Africa and Madagascar. They have told how life is much worse for the poor in these countries. But the bottomline of this is that, they can be developed or they have the potential to grow in the next years. I believe that Africa will soon awake because of its hidden resources.

If they prioritize education, then they will be able to come up with better technology. The problem here is that the rapid growth of population necessitates the prioritization of food and healthcare over education. And when they do that the technological advance is blocked. And as a result, they will be left with just the raw products and not the finished goods. In order to convert the raw materials to final product, they need advanced technology. So for that they need to depend on foreign countries.
3237  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: October 14, 2020, 05:13:13 AM
Yeah bad capitalist buying oil over $100 a barrel and exploiting poor Venezuela. They should be buying it now at $40 when nobody wants it Tongue

The OPEC made the mistake during 2009-2013, when they tried to push crude oil prices too high. There were statements from the OPEC such as "consumers should be ready for $200 per barrel oil" and "the era of cheap oil is over". As a response, the US shale oil producers moved in and ramped up their production. The greed of OPEC members such as Saudi Arabia and Venezuela resulted in their own downfall.
3238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who said that ICOs are dead? on: October 14, 2020, 05:03:40 AM
Now it is dangerous to invest in ICO arranged by new projects. There is no need to hurry with this and you need to choose projects really carefully. Personally, I noticed that good investment projects do not appear every day and they need to be searched for and waited for a long time. It is in the long search that the secret is that you will not lose money on the next investment

There are two factors that should be remembered here. Back in 2017, many of the ICOs were valued in a fair manner, and some of them were even under-valued. That situation has changed now. Even projects which have not completed the first phase of development are targeting 40 million or 50 million USD as the soft-cap. And the second thing to remember here is that the success rate of the ICOs is on steep decline ever since 2018. With every passing year, the success rate goes down.
3239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 14, 2020, 04:51:19 AM
Asking Sam Curran to open the innings was a really good move and i expect them to continue with that strategy and for the first two overs he was striking the ball and the first ball Faf du Plessis got to strike he was dismissed for a golden duck. The middle order contributed especially Jadeja and if not for his innings CSK would not reach a competitive total and SRH have the players to chase the score. CSK will not realized that they are far behind when chasing and i am sure they would have lost the match if they were chasing Cheesy.

Agreed. Watson and Faf du Plessis have scored the runs, but they start slowly. So they need someone like Sam Curran to go out there and blast the bowlers, so that the run rate doesn't fall too low. Jadeja is another player who can score quick runs. And more importantly, he is someone who attacks the bowlers from the very first ball. In the previous matches, it was really perplexing to see Dhoni sending useless players such as Kedar Jadhav ahead of Jadeja.
3240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: October 14, 2020, 04:41:05 AM
Well, it's a different fight for Pacquaio, we all know that politics is dirty in the Philippines so we don't know if he is willing to get himself involved, specially the office that he is going to run is the highest. And this fight is more of a joke actually, and we all know that they are just trying to raise money, but McGregor will surely do get another huge paycheck.

Obviously Manny Pacquiao is the most famous athlete from the Philippines. But I am not sure whether politics is the suitable field for him. He is already a senator and I think his approval ratings are satisfactory. But to go any higher, he needs political experience. If you remember, Vitali Klitschko of Ukraine also entered politics after his retirement from boxing. Although he is not doing that bad as the Mayor of Kyiv, I am not sure whether he is 100% happy now.
