3221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Becareful with Meme Coins on: July 10, 2021, 11:00:28 PM
I have always disagreed with the existence of meme coins such as doge and shiba inu, because in my opinion these coins have no utility and have no advantages at all compared to other altcoins, meme coins only rose due to temporary hype
Dogecoin has been used really for real as alternative transfers during the high fees of bitcoin and Ethereum.

But right now, both of them have cheaper fees so there's no need for any alternative as it's already been solved by bitcoin and ethereum. It's okay to have such coins as Doge but we don't need more of them.

That's what the problem is, they keep coming.
Just like ICO, IEO, Defi, these meme coins will also be going to spread but I think that we are already aware of the situation, and it's up to us if we invest in them or just ignore them.
Actually, some of these meme coins just pump during the bull market and many have become profitable that is why many newcomers encourage to invest in meme coins. However, if we think about long-term investment, this is not a wise decision.
3222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: July 10, 2021, 09:59:07 PM
That's possible as we have seen a lot of NBA Finals where a team being down 0-2 were able to come back and win the championship, they just have to avoid the 0-3 because no one has ever come back from that deficit in the NBA history. Home court and playing on the road are different, on home court, they are well motivated as they have the support of the fans, so I would go for the Bucks in game 3, in fact, I had already posted my pick in the other thread.

I'm joining you to take the bet on Bucks for the game 3 of the series. While Sun has been the better team of the two in the first two games, I feel Bucks will do more than enough to get one back and possibly come to level terms by the time we get to game 4. But since we're focusing on game 3, I'll leave it there for now. Since the playoffs, Bucks has been working hard on comebacks. We might see them do it against sun just like they did to Nets from game 3 and Hawks from game 2. Fingers crossed for this one.

When the bucks were down 0-2 against the Nets, they had a great game in game 3 by focusing on the defense, allowing the suns to score 83 points only, and it's a success to see for a high scoring team unable to reach 100 points in a single game. They can do the same with the Suns, so maybe let's take a look and the over/under bet as well.
3223  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr - August 21 on: July 10, 2021, 09:37:47 PM

Just like what others been suggesting that its better to focus out on his boxing career rather than on pushing into things which i dont see for him to see fit or even the majority is looking the same way too.

I agree with that although we can't really prevent sometimes from discussing politics since he is a popular icon.

Anyone put your bet now Pacquiao odds are slowly decreasing, last time I checked it was 2.70, now it's only 2.65.

I remember someone said that Pacquiao's odds are an underdog during the announcement of the fight but as the fight is getting closer and people are seeing his condition, that odds will slowly go down and who knows he might become the betting favorites as the game is approaching.

So take it now while the odds are still good.
3224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Earn BNB by holding a token. on: July 09, 2021, 09:58:35 PM
I've been following a few Telegram conversations recently and I've seen a new project type that involves people hanging on to their tokens or coins and then passively earning BNB or another coin. Of course, this might be a wonderful marketing effort to get people to buy the primary token being promoted...after all, who wouldn't want to have passive income?

But, of course, we are always skeptical...do you believe that a programme like this can truly succeed and last? Or is this just another avalanche of meme token metamorphosis?

I find it strange that a shitcoin pays you in BNB to be a holder, but I have read something like this in the past.
I don't think it can last or be successful in the long run.
That is ridiculous, actually.
And we might be surprised after buying their coins, we can't hear them anymore. newbies should be taking this seriously and stop being a hunter of easy money schemes. Because in the first place, such kind of offer is not possible and an obviously a scam trick. That is an old story and we have done this from the past and if we still think of trusting them again with this kind of offering, we are simply making ourselves stupid.
3225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: July 09, 2021, 09:58:26 PM
how true that Robert bolic is being recruited san, Miguel Beerman, I'm just curious about the trades that SMB corp is doing they want to be champions every season for the PBA? and what will be the team will receive in exchange for that player, I hope the PBA will change this kind of trade were in one team is stacking star players and the other team with bench players.

That's the rumors and the blockbuster trade starts with a rumor lol, so I believe that there is some truth on this.

Alex Cabagnot and Chris Ross in exchange for Greg Slaughter and Robert Bolick, is it fair? IMO, no it is not but NorthPort is always been the farm team of SMB Group of companies so I will not be surprised if one day I would wake up hearing this news.

Too many issues that the PBA is facing at the moment and it seems that they are dragging its feet underground and they don't seem to care about their supporters.

Chris Ross (36 years old) and Alex Cabagnot (38 years old), that factor alone would tell that this trade is not fair, but as you said, since North Port is a farm team, this could happen anytime. They already sent C. stand to BGSM and now Greg to SMB, we know it's own by one company.

I hope the SMB will give these two some respect and that is by letting them retire with SMB. With the big contribution they gave for SMB to win multiple championships, I think they deserved it, so I would not agree with this trade even if the rumor is true.
3226  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Donaire II discussion on: July 09, 2021, 09:50:09 PM
[snip]
Donaire showed who really is based on his style, and since he is not really an undefeated fighter, we can't expect that he will win against every opponent, Inoue is just great,  he has not experienced a loss up to now and he is a disciplined boxer who has a great coach in his corner, it's hard to beat this man and Donaire cannot beat him in the rematch.
Well, let us see when the fight will come because if you are going to ask me, --I am still on the side of Donaire even if his opponent is Inoue.
But as a matter of fact and I admit this, both fighters are aggressive and technically predicting who will win based on the previous record, Inoue seems to have a good record than Donaire, but the gap is not that big that Donaire is in the underdog.
However, so far I don't see any schedule for both of them, it could be there is a match and it could be not.

There's no schedule yet because this is just a rumor, for now, Donaire just recently won a championship fight and it's actually him who is eager to fight a champion again since his fight with Casimero was canceled for some reason, then there's no bigger fish in the division that he would be interested in fighting and that is Inoue, and for sure Inoue would accept the challenge.

We just have to wait for the official announcement but this fight will likely happen.
Obviously, this fight would happen because there's no other fighter on that division that potentially to fight with Donaire and I guess you were right, Inoue is the perfect match for Donaire on this division.
There are two big fights in bantamweight division, Inoue vs Donaire and Rigo vs Casimero.. if they want to make it more entertaining, the respective winners of the fight will have to fight each other so there will undisputed a champion in that division.

For now, let's prepare to watch the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr.
I'm always prepared, in fact I can't wait anymore.

@OP, can I request to add a voting poll to know if there are other potential boxers that could challenge Donaire?

I 2nd.
3227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Taking Profits on Altcoins Strategy on: July 09, 2021, 09:31:38 PM
I am looking to take some profits on my altcoins after the next big pump. Need some advice if my strategy is good or not. I'm based in the US.

1. When I start to take profits from my altcoins do I just sell them on the exchange for dollars and then buy stablecoins with that? Or do I somehow trade the alts for stables? Does is matter since selling or trading them are taxed for capital gains regardless?

2. Once I take the profits in stablecoins, is putting them on something like Blockfi to gain interest the best thing to do while I wait for another dip to possibly reinvest them?

3. Once the bull run is over I'm most likely going to keep all my bitcoin and probably most of my Ethereum. I'll sell most of my alts for stablecoins but keep small bags of the ones I want to keep through the bear market. Is this a sound strategy?

4. During the bear market is taking a cash loan using my crypto as collateral (BTC and ETH) a good way to defer capital gains taxes? Won't I have to pay these taxes eventually? I know there are drawbacks to this strategy but it seems like a lot of experienced people do this.

5. After the bull run should I just put my stablecoins in something like Blockfi during the bear market? Or is cashing out to dollars and investing in something like real estate a good way to defer capital gains taxes?

I know these are a lot of questions but any advice is greatly appreciated, this forum has been extremely helpful for a noob that has been in the space for about 4 months now. Thanks!
For a lot of strategy you have made, you make yourselves confused. Instead of thinking about those strategies why not focus on one thing? Buy, Hold, and Sell, will be the most effective strategy and you are making yourself too easy.
Honestly, I don't know where you go with all these strategy, you just helping yourselves to get compromise and you have stated to take a loan during the bear season. Because of planning to take a loan much better to sell you coins and get back when the market is bullish.
3228  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What should we do in the sideways market of Bitcoin? on: July 08, 2021, 12:22:54 PM
There is no other way but to change the strategy, such as becoming a daytrader to cover losses gradually, or diversifying the portfolio into several altcoins that might have a big event in the near future.

Most traders are lazy to do this because it is out of habit, or some have to run the risk on the first try.
A trader shouldn't be behaving like that otherwise, he will be regretting it later.
Every action corresponds to results and if we don't encourage to improve our market understanding and strategies, we are simply bringing ourselves to losses. We need to be flexible and we have to adopt the behavior of the market, not the market will adjust to us.
If we wanted to have passive results, then we have to make ourselves busy analyzing the market as we are more exposed to it, the more learnings and market advancement we get.
3229  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Daytrading vs Holding on: July 07, 2021, 08:55:46 AM
If you want long terms profit then holding is the best choice for you, because long terms profit are much as compared to short terms profit. And in other words if you want to get everyday profit and you can't wait for the long terms then daytrading will be a best choice for you. It depends upon the trader that what type of profit he wants to get.
The result will matter at your choice...
Holding are those who want a safer investment while trading is for those who can afford to lose their money every day.
Trading could be a long-term job, those people who live fully in trading could say it was not an easy journey for them but then, they will able to survive and surpass all the struggles because they want it and they are motivated enough.
If we don't have this kind of attitude, better to choose Holding, it gonna be an easier life for us.
3230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth buying other cryptocurrencies other than bitcoin? on: July 07, 2021, 08:17:01 AM

So my question is this which is more important factor to consider before buying a coin, do you buy because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer, the utility of the token or the news?
I'll buy coins because of the following consideration...
*Market history
*Volume
*Exchanger
*Feedback

I don't rely on the news because most of them are scripted and nonsense. What I did is to analyze the market trend, a lot of things can be changed around and manipulation is one factor.
If you have Bitcoin and Ethereum that will be a good choice.

3231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Market is recovering, what steps are you taking? on: July 05, 2021, 09:43:53 PM
snip...

That's absolutely correct. Now is definitely not a good time to sell as the market is consolidating. It would be better to average out the portfolio now.
If market continues to rise then we might not see these prices again in near future. Also, keeping an eye on the prices and monitoring it would be good.
Staying updated to the crypto news and prices would make us a step ahead in getting in at a good opportunity.
I have bought whatever I could and I would be HODLing now until we see the peak prices again.
The market is still not stable so i would say we are not yet becoming bullish and is still in a dump season. This still a good opportunity to buy cheap coins as long as the prices are still low. But if this market will start to become green, prices will eventually start rising again and we will miss those opportunities again.

For now, i'm still observing the market and waiting if this price correction will continue. I prefer to hold my coins until i see the market is in a bullish, then maybe i will start selling my coins when the prices are definitely in their new peaks.
Likewise, most of our intention is to hold during the bear season which is a good idea instead. But we also have to think about what particular coins are we holding because for me I just hold those most promising coins and I sell those coins that I feel it never survive in the upcoming bear season.
I'd learn my previous experience as holding doesn't guarantee that you will be safe that is why I don't hesitate to secure some of my funds before the worse case to come.
3232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Donaire II discussion on: July 05, 2021, 01:36:02 PM
Both of them are counter puncher and has speed, the only difference is that Inoue has more punching power than Donaire. If you can see how Inoue's punching power slowed down Donaire during the match. But still it is a good fight, by the middle of the whole match Donaire almost had Inoue there, but as Inoue recovered he showed dominance against Donaire.

Inoue adjusted and he was not gas out in the fight, and since Donaire can't KO Inoue though he hurt him ( we can see that), that made him tired in the end and Inoue got him with some solid body shot. The fight went to the scorecard but it's very obvious that Inoue would win via UD.
3233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: July 05, 2021, 01:26:47 PM
So the rumors before is really true.

Terrence Romeo declined offer from Japan B.League team. Here's why

Quote
LONG before Kiefer Ravena got a Japanse B. League team's attention, San Miguel star Terrence Romeo was given a more lucrative offer.

A source told SPIN.ph that the flamboyant PBA star guard received a US$2.7-million contract spread over three years by one of the B.League teams.

Romeo declined, even if the offer is way more than what he receives in the PBA, where the maximum salary for players is P420,000 ($8,400) a month, excluding bonuses and other perks.

Breaking down the offer, Romeo, sources said, was supposed to receive $50,000 a month on the first year of the contract, $75,000 in the second and $100,000 in the third year.

Why did he pass up the offer?

Read the article for more information.

So Romeo as one of the best players in the Philippines decline the offer, well, he is already playing in a good team, he won championship and has become a finals MVP, I think he has already found his home.
3234  Economy / Economics / Re: “You don’t spend money now, you can’t spend after you died” on: July 05, 2021, 09:43:30 AM

You spend: you lose; you save: you lose. You invest: who knows?
That is a selfish idea. We save not just for our own but it is also for our family, you have brothers, sisters, parents...you can save them, not just yourself alone especially when crisis just arrive. The same thing we do why we have to invest.
The problem to most individuals is just to think of today, they don't think about it by tomorrow. That is why many got broke after losing their job because they don't save any, they don't invest, they are relying fully on their salary and spend it all like no tomorrow.
3235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoin? Will Bitcoin be traded in all countries in 2025? on: July 05, 2021, 09:09:00 AM
I think it's still a long time, not all countries allow to trade bitcoin, as is the case with China which is very hard to ban bitcoin, and I think it will be difficult for China to accept bitcoin back.
It for sure it can't be traded in all countries if this will remains decentralized. Like China, they want everything to be in control with their hands, it is no way that Bitcoin will be tradable unless they will change for another leader. But for just 4 years left, it is too far from the possibility.
Maybe we could see a huge change in the crypto community in the next few years but thinking that it can be traded and accepted globally will become uncertain. Even though it wasn't be going that way, what just important is Bitcoin still having a role in the market and despite those banning, it remains valuable.
3236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Cryptocurrency is best for long term investment? on: July 05, 2021, 02:48:49 AM
Solana can be a long term option because of the technology behind it (Proof of history). It solves the high gas fee, no heavy mining costs, High TPS (Transaction per seconds) and transparency. Some of the experts say that solana can be next ETH in next 5 years.
A lot of factors that could affect the growth of ETH in the future, market competition is going stronger, and now we are adopting the new platform. If we saw that the ETH price is at $2k, maybe soon it was that half of it. But of course, ETH will still survive as ERC20 tokens still exist but with the massive growth of BSC projects, we can expect a different trend in the coming days.
Thus, if we aim for a long-term investment, I'd choose BTC and BNB considering the current situation, ETH will be another option.
3237  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do I invest in cryptocurrency or coinbase COIN on: July 05, 2021, 02:03:23 AM
Is investing in cryptocurrency is good idea or COIN ,

https://talkoncrypto.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=35
No joke, I still think that coinbase is a great investment unless something major changes. Crypto is already a thing you should invest, I doubt that anyone here would tell you otherwise because we all love crypto, there are some haters that come here and troll by writing bad stuff about crypto but they are just trying to get attention and that's it.

However if we are honest with each other, I would say coinbase is not a bad investment neither, it is actually a great company that will only continue to profit. Doesn't even require bitcoin prices to go up, we are talking about a company that will profit if price goes down or goes up, because they make profit from traders and you still trade when the price goes down, there are more sellers but it is still trading so they will ALWAYS profit, that is just a great thing about them. This is why I believe that is not a bad decision neither.
And I have to agree with...but investing in a thing that we never know is a big joke, right?
It is our choice to invest in Coinbase shares or just go for individual currency, we can never know which one is profitable and which is not because that also depends on the market situation and also the investor.
But for me, I have to choose to invest in cryptocurrencies than Coinbase shares.
3238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying old coins: Is it worth it? on: July 04, 2021, 11:14:24 PM
almost most of the old coins suddenly appeared and hype in the crypto market. even I observed the coins were projects in the past like mid-2019 to 2020. there are many coins of them experiencing an increase in this year. Legitimate projects certainly take a long time to show their existence in the crypto market, if you know about a coin hype then you will find the answer yourself.
I'd never agreed that legit projects will take time to show, no, they will surely make pump if they have the potentials and even no hypes happened unlike with the new projects.
Well, buying olds coins have the advantage as it was considered for long-term investment but have to be sure that old coins are not dead coins.
But for me, I'd never think about old or new coins, what is most important is that we are confident that we are investing the right and promising coin, not shitcoins.
3239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Donaire II discussion on: July 04, 2021, 09:48:31 PM

Donaire here trying to make an upset, and Inoue's fans say it's not possible.

Fans are biased, that's the reality.

In the last fight of Inoue against Dasmarinas, many Filipinos believe that Dasmarinas could upset Inoue although the betting odds say otherwise. nah, you can't expect an honest opinion here, all are just based on bias opinion, and that makes the fight more interesting as we have fans from both sides willing to defend their fighter's chance in the fight.
3240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: July 04, 2021, 09:28:19 PM
I would say I did not expect it, but congratulations to the Bucks for winning the ECF.|

Was thinking Trae Young would help his team to win, but instead, he became a liability, sorry for the word.
Trae has no lift, he is missing a basket, even an easy one.

4-17 shooting and 5 Turnovers, that was his worse game in the playoffs.
Yeah, it looks like the Bucks have been playing much better since Giannis got the injury. Regarding Trae Young, his performance was expected, considering that he hasn't fully recovered from the injury. It's obvious that he wasn't ready to play 35 minutes.
So, it is a Bucks vs Suns finals. I have to say nobody saw that coming I believe, this is a very very interesting result. Sure Bucks played amazing on regular season and that is why some people may have expected them to play decently but the reality is that we didn't really see anything nice from them last season at playoffs, and this season that happened again, they weren't that amazing and their regular season record was much better than their playoff record so I think they do become worse in playoffs for some reason.

It could be harder playing with less foul calls, it could be harder defense, it could be players playing a lot more minutes instead of giving bench players more time. So long story short they weren't that great, Suns on the other hand? Suns didn't even made the playoffs for more than 10 years, then suddenly they are in the finals. Let's see who will win but as fan of none of these teams, I am going to have super fun for sure.

No one sees it coming that the Suns would advance in the NBA Finals, but the Bucks, are one of the favorites to win in the NBA Finals so it's expected. The Bucks had a tougher journey compared to the Suns IMO, so I think although the Suns now are heavily favored to win, the Bucks would not just easily give up the fight as they are also hungry to win a championship.
