A bug that chain-split ethereum’s Ropsten testnet has been identified and fixed within hours.
As it was guessed, it had something to do with a new Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) that adds efficiency gains to gas calculations with only Parity seemingly affected.
“The bug has been fixed. It affects parity and aleth, which we had the same bug,” Wei Tang, a Rust developer at Parity told Trustnodes, with aleth being a C++ eth client.
“I fixed the sstore refund saturating_sub bug and confirmed that it indeed computed the same state root as geth.” Tang publicly said around midnight London time before adding:
“I guess when Afri wakes up, we’ll try to get a patch release really soon which should fix the current consensus issue on Ropsten.”

Our out of nowhere guess would be that this probably can still make it for November if no other issues are found. That’s because with this bug so quickly identified and fixed, the delay might be just a few days.
Devs, however, are preparing for Devcon4, so that might be a bit of a “distraction.” Then there’s Christmas – an even bigger distraction. Then there’s Bitcoin’s birthday on January the 3rd which may be around the time they launch the issuance reduction eth upgrade if they can’t make it for November.

CYBERSPACE — SpankChain, the blockchain-based payment ecosystem for the adult industry, confirmed that it has recovered all of the funds hacked during a security breach last weekend.
SpankChain, in a series of tweets, said that after CEO Ameen Soleimani spoke by telephone with an individual who stole $38,000 in ethereum (ETH) from the project’s smart contract, that person had agreed to return the hacked amount in full. The individual was able to reap a $9,000 “award” for the hack.
“We sent them back $5,000 as a reward along with the 5.5 ETH they used as seed capital for the attack,” SpankChain said in a tweet. “The attacker was also able to retrieve the 4,000 BOOTY that their hack immobilized. We purchased it back from them for $4,000.”
Earlier in the week, SpankChain officials took Spank.live offline to prevent any additional funds from being pilfered and then notified users about the breach, promising to reimburse for lost funds. Only about $9,000 consisted of customer funds.

Auch wenn es grundsätzlich der richtige Ansatz ist, die "Machtkonzentratioon" zu verteilen, so muss man sich dennoch fragen, warum sie das nicht besser auf die Reihe bekommen, zumal sie da wohl schon 2015 dran sind... Mal wieder ein guter Artikel darüber wie die heutige Welt funktioniert. Wie die Banken durch die günstigen Kredite die Menschen motivieren sich Eigentum zu kaufen, dass sie sich eigentlich nicht leisten können, wie die Banken diese Forderungen weiter verkaufen um noch mehr Kredite vergeben zu können und wie irgendwann die Zinsen wieder steigen werden, die Menschen die Raten nicht mehr zahlen können, und die Banken dann das Eigentum bekommen. Und die Immobilen dann auch noch viel billiger sind als der aufgenommene Kredit, weil sie beim Kauf völlig überteuert waren. Und wie dann wieder die Zinsen langsam abgesengt werden, um den Kreislauf von vorne zu starten. Der Author zeigt auch einen Weg aus diesem Kreislauf, nämlich die Cryptos, sagt aber auch ganz klar, dass man nur das investieren soll, was man auch verlieren kann, und dass man dies nur mit eigenem Kapital macht. In weiser Voraussicht ging der Contest bis zum 10. Oktober Hat AIEVE auch den Zeitraum fuer den Contest festgelegt? Wenn ja, dann ist das System ja echt gut Wenn ich mir die holdings am Ende anschaue, dann waere der Gewinn wohl weg. Aber vermutlich haetten bei AIEVE stop-loss orders gegriffen um den Verlust zu begrenzen. Ja, das wäre wohl Phänomenal. Wahrscheinlich einfach nur Glück gehabt, aber es sind halt auch schwierige Zeiten, und so wie Du sagst, hätte wohl stop-loss gegriffen, so hoffe ich zumindest, aber genau wissen dies wohl nur die Programmierer. |
