There are 2 versions of BraiinOS, one is free and the other one has dev fees, the latter comes with more features like auto-tune which you might not need, so I would stick to the free version and start with the lowest frequency and increase it one step at a time, you will need a Watmetter or amp clamp of some type to measure the power consumption, you don't want to push past 1000w to be on the safe side.

I agree with phil, sending the gear to China cost a lot of money, takes a lot of time and it isn't something I want to do, however, since they now are providing 12 months instead of the regular 6 months warranty, this could be a good indication that the overall quality of their mining gears has improved, if you know your gears tend to fail after 7 months, you will give 6 months warranty, giving 12 months means you trust the quality of your mining gears to likely stand for a whole year, or at least this is how I think of it.

This would have been true if the existence of the trust system was based on consensus but this is not the case, this isn't BTC blockchain, this forum has admin/s with special privileges therefore it's no longer based on consensus, theymos alone can ban anyone, he can change the algorithm, he can pretty much do anything he wants, and he did set some guideline for the usage of the trust system. if somehow the bad actors become the majority and the trust system doesn't go in the way he wants - he can just change it all together at any given second.



If you know reporting works what is the point of negative feedback then? as far as I can see, we have a problem (spam) and a solution (report) and this seems to me like (a problem solved), so where does the feedback fit in old wisdom which states "if there is no problem, don't create one"?.

Tagging spammers won't send them away, they probably don't even look at their own feedback, all it does is devalue the trust system, when almost everyone has red/negative feedback on their trust page, that feedback becomes something normal, hard to notice, and pretty much useless.

Just to double-check, stratum+tcp://rfpool.org:3333 still works and does the same thing that stratum+tcp://rfpool.org:3334 does, true?

There is a good chance that the Sdcard you using is bad, I am sure almost everyone has experienced such a thing before, some of those Sdcard simply won't work on the S9 flash.

Also, there is a chance that you might be doing something wrong, my advice would be this.

Use the stock recovery files, download from this link https://service.bitmain.com/support/download?product=Flashing%20SD%20card%20with%20image

Make sure you use this version (t9+ -SD Tools.zip), do not under any circumstances use the S9 version which was published a few weeks ago, also to be on the safe side I would use the stock recovery files but download them from elsewhere such as from here https://vnish.ru/en/firmware/antminer-s9.html or ask one of the trusted members here to send it to you, just in case the publish date for the t9 files on Bitmain's website is incorrect, you simply want to avoid anything new form bitmain because that will make things even worse.

If that does not work, try a different Sdcard.

This will be water-cooled, plug and play style, I am not sure why they decided to go with the expensive water cooling style, is it because the next 5, 3, and 1nm can't be cooled with the normal air cooling? While this seems like a great idea, I am pretty sure the price will be unbelievably expensive, the maintenance of the water cooling system isn't going to be cheap as well.

The good thing about it is that when you upgrade you don't throw away a whole miner, imagine if you could use the same S9 or even S7 and just have to swap the hashboard for the new once and/or PSU? how much money could one have saved through all these years?

Another point would be how likely are we going to get to that 1nm technology,  how much improvement in terms of efficiency do we expect?

What are your thoughts?

Are you sure that you were following the instructions of firmware After 2019 and not the other one?

I know there are two ways to run Braiins, one is by flashing it on the control board and another is by booting from the Sdcard after changing its jumper settings by switching JP4 jumper position, in both cases, you will need to move that jumper, the only difference is that you would keep it changed (to the right side) if you want the miner to boot from the Sdcard.

If you need further help with Braiins you should contact Artemis3, I think he has the most experience in that firmware among us, if things still don't work, try Vnish.

Also, since you are running the latest firmware which is more securely locked than others, it might not be easy at all.

Try custom firmware, custom means non-bitmain, try Asic.to or BraiinOS see if the miner behaves any differently, although since you upgraded to the latest version this won't be easy, not sure if the Sdcard method will work anymore.


under normal circumstances, I would say all 3 boards are dead because they don't see 30 Asics which is the normal asic count for T17, but since this only happened after the firmware upgrade (if I understood you correctly) then I would think that the firmware is causing the issue.

So they are selling Sha256 hashrate of 1gh/s for 0.025 USD, so that is $25 per TH , but they don't tell you for how long that is, if it's for 24h then you lose 99% of that amount anyway, they didn't even bother with putting the basic details of their "contracts", very obvious scam.

Anyway, you just learned a lesson for $50, be glad you didn't "invest" more.

Trustpilot is bullshit, to place a negative review you need to provide a ton of documents to prove your claims, to make a positive review it's as easy as it gets, the way I use Trustpilot is by simply focusing on the negative reviews because they are mostly valid, and I pay little to no attention to the positive once.

OP, while this is mining related, it still needs to be moved to scam accusation.

Yes, you can, connect the phone to your pc and download the firmware on the pc, do any unzipping necessary before sending it to your phone, make sure you format the Sdcard using the phone, I have done this in the past, it works if you do it right.

Assuming we are talking about "profit" and not "technical aspects" then this statement isn't accurate, it would make sense if you had the chance to buy bitcoin 10 years back vs any other coin now, but that isn't the option, it's all trading bitcoin vs another currency now.

With the relatively large market cap of bitcoin, your gains will be smaller compared to smaller currencies, obviously, the opposite is correct too, you take more risk investing in altcoins.

Some coins are 200% up against BTC this year, so they did outperform bitcoin price-wise, none of those coins can compete with bitcoin in all other aspects, their market cap combined won't get close enough to BTC's market cap, but the potential profit is uncomparable.



It isn't silly IMO, he makes perfect sense, in many cases, alt coins go up, BTC goes down or sideways, it isn't always BTC up and alts down, it depends, right now all eyes are on bitcoin, liquidity goes mainly to BTC, but sooner or later some of that money will find its way into the alt market, whether we like it or not, the large gains lie within the small coins, the last DeFi wave made millionaires from a coupe thousands $ of investment, sadly, most of those projects are pretty useless and some went down close to zero but that is how things actually work.


USD isn't decentralized either, most exchanges don't have a trading pair called BTC/USD, because dealing with USD directly triggers the KYC crap, unless you are fortunate enough and come from a 1st world country then most exchanges you could use will only allow you to trade BTC/USDT, BTC/TUSD or any other fiat-backed currency, I personally don't trust any of those coins and I think that none of them is 100% backed, but there is nothing to do about it if you really want to trade in an attempt to increase your BTC holding.

There is no other way that I can think of unless he magically changed the algorithm of his S9.

They can't be traced, even if we were to go with the assumption that you could locate the IP addresses they are mining under, it could be just a proxy or a VPN of some sort, unless the police get involved it will be highly unlikely for you to locate them with the amount of nformation you have unless you get lucky someway somehow. You will need a lawyer, let's hope, someone here knows a good one.
