Until they sort the paypal fraud chargebacks it wont really matter. People will still get scammed out of their coins no doubt.

Hi guys, I have two noob questions here: What is the process/procedure I need to follow to: 1) Sign an address - to prove that I am the owner? 2) Add a message to a transaction when I sent BTC? I have sent donations to Hal and I wanted to add a thank you note but I haven't done it before. Thanks  EDIT: Also, once I do sign an address how can one verify that? |

The Dogecoin wallet is going to get upgraded again, but it's not going to be a fork  Instead, this is what they said: Code is now based on Bitcoin source. But parameters are still the same as before. No fork this time
Downgrading from 1.7 to 1.6 with a fresh wallet is not easy. Be aware of that.

While it is true that bitcoin cannot be effectively totally banned, the facts are that if it is legislated against in any way that makes it not worth the time and effort of most of the population, it will become effectively valueless to the remainder because there will be no network effects.
IOW, if you can't use a Bitcoin to buy anything from a "legit" vendor, then the network effects will be such that it's worth under a buck to everyone else. A tiny corner of the financial world, indeed.
I strongly disagree. Let's say I have a business that sells product A. And just like me there are many other businesses but they have more money to invest in PR, etc. Now I do not want to go bankrupt just because my gov said "Bitcoin is illegal". And if my product is welcomed to Bitcoiners then Tor is the way to go about it. I do not go bankrupt and guess what?.... I don't even have to declare TAX! Like I said, black markets will emerge and that is NOT what the governments want. That's why they are trying to find a way to regulate BTC, which will not happen IMO. All right, so you're no different then a drug dealer at that point. Most legitimate businesses don't want to go that route. Legitimate? What is legitimate about raising a war on another country in order to get their oil? What is legitimate about the way your gov and the banks fuck you right over day after day? That's the thing: if all their exchange payment processor accounts are frozen / non-existent.. how are they gonna cash out?
Buy goods or services with Bitcoins Nope, they will cash out on another exchange and forge whatever papers required for their bank. Simple! |

My take is that Communist countries are not good markets for Bitcoin.
I disagree. Probably the best market for bitcoin, since no bank would hold your assets, and it's possible to move them without being monitored by a statist government. The problem is just in exchanging in the system outside of monitoring. +1 |

Here's a funny way of explaining an older person what Bitcoin does - NOT RECOMMENDED BTW, let people make their own decisions! Mom, let's spend $10K now and get BTC22.22222222222222 @ $450 each. Wait till the end of the year, then pay off our mortgage yes this can work if they fell a bit of a youngster in theirselfs And perhaps you should add - buy after 15th  You could be right, but somehow I have a feeling that the price will stabilize and start rising before the 15th. OK, I know that the SilkRoad case is still under investigation but....
What will happen to all the seized coins after the case is closed?
Logically those coins should be destroyed, but is there any way to prove that they are?
The plan is to auction them as seized property. That doesn't sound very nice. What if the person that buys them get's them at a favorable price and decides to dump all of them at once when the price is good enough for them? Price crash once again.....  I think they should just destroy them Much better for mankind! |
