Here is an interesting comparison between Dash and Bitcoin, i must warn you all though its a bit .. uhm .. lengthy :

I can only imagine how stressfull this rise and rise and rise of Dash is to our trolls, but stress being a key factor does explain a few things about their posts lately. Sometimes when people are under stress, they hate to think, and it's the time when they most need to think. - William J. Clinton

I do not know how Evan Duffield can still get away with his secret premine. Now we have someone posting a thread about the inability of bitcoin to solve its scaling problems while he is also trying to say that Dash is the better cryptocoin. Amusing.
Evan goes to conferences and organizes some of them right? What do you the people say to him? Do they tell him what he is doing is wrong?
Monero tried that once, they sent dnaleor to a Bitcoin event in october 2015 where Dash held a presentation when the budget system just became operational (Dash had a marketcap of 14 million back then). For me that was the first time it became evident how fanatic some of these Monero trolls really are. And not just on this forum but also in real life. We got a good laugh out of it though (i was there too). It is funny to see these trolls still try to make it like Dash was premined, like the word alone would cause damage to Dash somehow. Its a bit pathetic to be honest. To those trolls who are a bit slow of wit, here is a simple rule to remember : premine no, instamine yes. Its kinda hard to tell someone like Evan that what he is doing is wrong when it is crystal clear that what he is doing is actually pretty darn good, something the market is noticing and rewarding accordingly. To OP : welcome to Dash, feel free to visit us in our Dash ANN thread or in our Dash.org/forum and also i think the problems that you encountered with Bitcoin are exactly the same problems that made Amanda switch from Bitcoin to Dash (that and the digital cash aspects in Dash and its governance system which Amanda seems to find intriguing).

http://www.coindesk.com/who-broke-the-sha1-algorithm-and-what-does-it-mean-for-bitcoin/It's important to stress that the cryptography underpinning the bitcoin network, which makes use of the more secure SHA256 algorithm, is not directly affected by the discovery,
But, besides enriching the mystery bounty recipient, the SHA1 collision vulnerability does pose a concern for the bitcoin development community, since its Git version control system uses SHA1 to generate the hash digest for commits.
"The consequences aren't that we have to stop using Git immediately," Todd said, "but it will make it more important to review other people's work, because a third party could try to push a malicious commit in."
The vulnerability here is that an attacker could theoretically create two different versions of a code commit that would appear to be the same when hash values were compared – though for now, given the vast number of computations still needed to find a collision, it's highly unlikely that could happen. I assume Dash does not rely on sha1 in any way ? Not even in Github ? (Dash is using X11 algorithme after all). I do wonder if this kind of advanced method of generating hash collision can also be used on alternative cryptocurrencies like Dash, Euthereum, Ripple, Litecoin ? The article shows us something we should never forget : that the whole cryptoscene is involved in a technological battle between those that want to break encryption and those that want to have encryption.

It is strongly recommended that everybody update to the latest version 12.0.2 as well as the latest sentinel. Moocowmoo's Dashman makes this very quick and easy. The sooner most of the network is on 12.0.2 the earlier enforcement can be reenabled. It will be nice to get InstantSend back and not have to worry about the off-chance of a greedy miner not paying one of my nodes. https://github.com/moocowmoo/dashman12. 1.2 0.12.1.2

Anyone know what happened to user 'g4q34g4qg47ww'? He was the last speck of honesty, an honest genuine guy. He was the last user out of the old-school drk cult.
I have no idea, he somehow changed into .. this.

I get this now with my MN:
Warning: Your masternode version (120100) is behind the official version (120102). This is from DASHcentral.
I am running 12.1 so do I need to upgrade again. I just updated last week...??
and go through the update procedure and reset my time and loose rewards etc.
I don't run any on dashcentral. Do you run your remote node (vps) there? It should be taken care of by them. You don't have to start-alias your mn from local. It's simple update and you won't lose your rewards. No, I run my own on a VPS, I just use Dashcentral to monitor the MN. So, is it just a matter of replacing the dashd on the server? what about sentinel? Sentinel needs to be updated as well, for those not using Dashman you can use following command : cd .dashcore/sentinel && git pull cronjob for Sentinel needs to be set to 1 minute, you can use the following cron : * * * * * cd /home/YOURUSERNAME/.dashcore/sentinel && ./venv/bin/python bin/sentinel.py >/dev/null 2>&1 Warning : there is currently some discussion going on if sentinel is placed inside the .dashcore folder (atlassian guide) or directly in your home folder (github guide). This could effect both your cronjob and the sentinel update itself. To be continued ...

Sure you could, don't forget to implement the pre mine into your service ann though.
There was no premine with Dash. Its funny how many people fell for that troll fud lie. Maybe you should google premine, to see what it exactly means and why that is not the case with Dash. Instamine / Fastmine : yes Premine : No link : https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/display/OC/Dash+Instamine+Issue+ClarificationTo OP : i doubt someone could re-launch Dash when Dash itself is operating so very successfull and its community has long ago moved passed the whole instamine problem that happened during the first two days (more then 3 years ago)

This will be a bumpy ride... yes sir I can see a new ATH 0.03+ in the coming days! Once blockcypher integration is complete, purse.io, coinbase, bitsamp etc....easillyy $50-$100 Evolution = $100-$150++++ Dash still needs to tackle its ATH (in BTC), so yeah i was thinking the 0.03+ range myself too. After that its anyone's guess. Edit : Dash ranks 4 again on coinmarketcap. I think this little chair dance between Dash and Litecoin is coming to an end soon.

Yeah I was going to share this too. How come a coin goes on pumping while others are being dumped because of BTC rally. Is Dash so good that it can surpass BTC ? Come on do your own thinking about it, for me it is clear manipulation how is dash surpassing btc when 1 dash is only 0.025 btc? this is the real value to dash related to btc, not the one pointed in $, dash currently is 40 time less expensive than bitcoin, a long way to go to beat bitcoin and i think dash is pumped because it's a big coin with asic around it pretty much like litecoin I didnt mean dash surpassed btc in price but can since btc rally a lot of other alts were down and dash is the only one continually increasing. So is dash really that flexible and independant that btc does not affect it at all when all the other alts are being affected ? Looks strange to me because that would mean dash can and is surpassing btc unless it is manipulation being made here! There will always be manipulation, its part of how markets operate. But the simple truth is that Dash fixes a lot of the shortcoming of Bitcoin, has both an independance of budget and governance and is increasingly getting the attention of those people who do not agree with the direction Bitcoin dev team is taking their coin (where it will end up with higher fees, still have very slow decision-making and only get funding from centralized party's like Blockstream, IBM etc etc.). So they look for alternatives .. and appearently they found Dash.

This isn't a pump and dump scheme like with Monero, which is now going into its more bloody dump period .. no this is the market dramatically re-evaluating Dash. Key factors at play here : v.0.12.1 was implemented without any problems and it introduced Sentinal, a powerfull piece of software that run beside Dash's blockchain and allows Dash to make future upgrades far more easy and fork-free. Dash Evolution (a major upgrade further down the road) will have further scalabilty solutions and its release schedule has been bumped forward recentely, when it was announced that the alpha version can now be exspected somewhere midyear 2017, this was made possible through additional funding that has expedited the development of Dash Evolution by attracting and hiring more developers. Dash also made some powerfull partnerships lately and through its decentralized budget funding managed to have its cryptocurrency added to a major new exchange with FIAT pairs. (exspect an announcement about that in a few months). To answer the OP : no i have not made any money as i'm not spending any Dash, i save them so i can start a (new) masternode which will provide me with a steady stream of masternode payments (on annual basis something like 10%). link : https://dash-news.de/dashtv/#value=1000link : http://178.254.23.111/~pub/masternode_count.pngSo what happened with all the accusations of the premining stuff, and also all the potentially exploitable weaknesses given the masternode model, which would be easy for authorities to neutralize? I remember having some darkcoins, and since then I didnt pay attention to this project. How does this scale compared to bitcoin? * you can read up on the instamine history of Dash here : https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/display/OC/Dash+Instamine+Issue+Clarification* the potentially exploitable weaknesses in the masternode model does indeed not exist just like Tao mentioned, its really just wishfull thinking from some competing cryptocurrencies * to find out more about Dash scaling solutions, check here : https://www.dash.org/evolution/* also keep in mind Dash masternode network already approved a 2MB blocksize increase, to be implemented on a later date. * and last but least be informed i have cryptohunter on ignore, he plays the fanatic troll part a bit too well for my taste
