1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: July 19, 2023, 06:39:38 AM
Thank you guys for bumping this thread. For awhile i was worried i had to do the bumping all by myself.

Nice of Monero community members like Hueristic and some newbees to help us out like that. Must be pretty quiet in their own Monero ANN / forum.
I guess one can only monitor the Wall Observer BTC/USD thread and discuss American Football for so long, before getting extremely bored, right Hueristic ?

Now i am counting on you guys to keep bumping this Dash ANN thread, i know you guys can do it .. i have faith in you guys !!

Dash Core v19 successfully activated on 6th of July 2023.
Evo Nodes have been popping up a few days later.
Currently there are 27 Evo Nodes operating on the Dash Network (you can either use the Dash Core wallet or the Dash Masternode Tool to view them).
In Dash Masternode Tool (DMT) it looks like this : https://i.imgur.com/29YaxPM.jpg

Those Evo Nodes will gradually over time most likely increase towards some 400 Evo Nodes. This will also cause the active number of 1K masternodes (currently 3350)
to drop, as MNO's will start converting their 4 masternodes to 1 Evo Node.

Each Evo Node get 4x masternode reward and can vote 4x
Each Evo Node needs to have a collateral of 4000 dash.
Currently with Dash Core v19 Evo Nodes do not need to support Dash Platform (L2), they only need to support the Dash Network (L1)

Dash Testnet is on Platform v0.24, while devs work on both Platform v0.24 (with Javacript) and Platform v0.25 (Javascript stripped out of, to increase Platform performance)
Devs are also working on Dash Core v20 in Dash Github (Develop branche)

Most likely Dash Platform will launch on Mainnet with Platform v0.25 (better Platform performance & more bug fixes) and with Dash Core v20
When Dash Core v20 activates on Mainnet, Evo Nodes will be required to update, so that they can support both L1 (Dash network) and L2 (Platform)
Instead of receiving 4x masternode rewards, they get only 1x masternode reward and rest of their masternode rewards will then come from Platform in the form of Credits
(which can be converted to dash).

You can follow the Dash Platform and Core Development Updates on Youtube (every 14 days, search on Youtube for 'Dash Platform and Core Development Update') to see the progress
on Dash Platform and on Dash Core v20 on Testnet / Dashpay Github.

ETA : 2 hours

This update will also go into details about the Dash blockchain stall from a week ago.

The problem that caused the Dash blockchain to halt has been linked to BLS signatures, so Dash Core v19.2 will most likely focus on fixing things with regards to BLS.

While operating under very stressful circumstances, there was some internal miscommunication regarding the new activation date for the v19 hard fork. Some previous communication mentioned June 14 as the v19 activation date; however, the patch provided in Dash Core v19.1.0 changed the start time of the v19 activation process to June 14. This results in the earliest activation being on July 6 after completing the typical lock-in period. The v19.1.0 release notes communicated a start date on June 14th with the earliest activation being 2 weeks later.

Number of masternodes updated to Dash Core v19.1 (hotfix) : 92.9%
Source : https://www.dashninja.pl/deterministic-masternodes.html

Status of miners updated to Dash Core v19.1 unclear to me right now, Dashninja.pl needs to do an update to Dash Core v19.1 to show
the miners part of Dashninja.pl correctly again (https://www.dashninja.pl/blocks.html)

Update : owner of Dashninja.pl just confirmed he has updated to v19.1 and is now reindexing his nodes.

Sporadic ChainLocks are forming already, expect full Chainlocks/InstantSend soon. The Dash network has been declared as stable by Dash Core Group.
When full ChainLocks/InstandSend is achieved, there will be finality to all Dash transactions again.

I can't link to imgur right now to show screenshots or pictures, hopefully that gets restored soon for me by a moderator
(side-effect of having been absence for so long on this forum i guess).

To all Dash Partners: Urgent Action Required - Update to Dash Protocol v19.1.0 to Address Recent Issue

Quote
Dear Dash Partners,

As you may already be aware, an issue has been identified in the Dash network which came to a halt on May 22 at block #1874879. We understand the importance of maintaining a stable and secure network, and we are taking immediate action to address this matter.
New blocks have been consistently produced since approximately 2000 UTC on May 22.. In light of this situation, we strongly advise you to upgrade Dash Core without delay. Currently, over 75% of the network has already upgraded, and this number is rapidly increasing.
To ensure seamless functionality and to align with the majority of the network, it is imperative that you take the following actions immediately:
Visit the official Dash GitHub repository at https://github.com/dashpay/dash/releases/tag/v19.1.0 to access the latest version, v19.1.0.
Review the release notes and documentation provided on the GitHub page to familiarize yourself with the changes and improvements introduced in this version.
Follow the installation and update instructions provided in the documentation to implement the necessary changes to your Dash infrastructure.
Please note that failure to update to the v19.1.0 protocol version may result in disruptions to your mining operations and potential vulnerabilities in the network's security.
We strongly urge you to prioritize this update to ensure the stability and integrity of the Dash blockchain.

If you require any assistance or have any questions regarding the update process, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team at support@dash.org. We are here to provide guidance and support during this critical time.
If you are not the appropriate contact person for technical inquiries within your organization, we kindly request that you forward this communication to the relevant team. Please remember to copy us on the email so that we can provide any necessary assistance.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. By working together, we can swiftly address the issue and restore normal operations on the Dash blockchain.

Sincerely,
Dash Core Team

Roll Out / Release of Dash Platform to Dash Mainnet : August 2023 (could be delayed due to the postponed Dash Core v19.0.0 activation)
Dash Platform Activation : September 2023
DashPay Launch : October 2023

Above could be subject to change.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: chainz.cryptoID.info - Alternative Blockchain Explorers on: August 05, 2021, 09:22:12 AM
Can you please verify if your Dash blockchain explorer is updated to v0.17.0.3 and on the correct chain as one of my more recent Dash transactions is not showing up on your blockchain explorer,
i suspect your blockchain explorer forked-off (Dash very recentely completed a hard fork).

Please verify,

Thank you.

What i don't understand is how people can sell their Dash, feel really negative about Dash to the point that they stop recommending it to others, but still feel such an overwhelming need
to read and reply to (often negatively) posts in this Dash ANN sub-forum. A Dash ANN sub-forum that they not participated in for many many years, but which somehow got their full attention
last year. I guess i will never fully understand that.

People should not invest or stop investing in crypto because of what someone reads or writes in this forum, they should invest in Dash or other cryptocurrencies after doing their homework.
That homework does not (and should not) include this sub-forum. This sub-forum is nothing more of a shoutbox anyways these days, with little added value to serious investors.

At least it has some visibility for Dash announcements and is a place for discussions. But if those discussions are the same type of discussions that has been held for the last nine months, then the discussions part will loose its attraction as well. What remains is a place for trolls, endless repeating discussions about the blockreward allocation change by toknormal and afbitcoins (and those feeding them) and Dash public announcements.

Nothing wrong with that, i guess.
Although it does sound like a sad place to dwell in  Undecided

Unfortunetely it is not a place i like to dwell in, so i decided to take a break from this sub-forum. A little unplugging of the mind so to speak.

So long and thank you for all the fish!  Roll Eyes

Lets take a look at how Bitcoin price is doing and compare that with Dash price :

Bitcoin Daily Chart

Source : https://cryptowat.ch/charts/BITSTAMP:BTC-USD?period=1d

Bitcoin price seems to register lower tops over time. Bearish sentiment taking over ? Stay tuned.

Bitcoin Monthly Chart

Source : tradingview.com

Bitcoin price dropped from $42,000 to $27,734 corrected to $31,823 and is now contemplating its next move.
I suspect MACD to signal a change in trend next month (1st of February) or the month after that.

Dash Daily Chart

Dash price dumped pretty hard, together with pretty much every altcoin out there during Bitcoin's sharp price drop.

Dash Monthly Chart

Dash price still very stable, not much changed there.

Dash price % down from ATH : -93,1%
Dash highest price % down from ATH during this Altcoins bear market : -97% (if i remember correctly)

Interesting development happening on the Altcoin Season Index :

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 23, 2021, 09:45:45 AM
Something tells me that it is toknormal that is selling his masternode rewards at first opportunity. Simply because he was ill prepared for this long and brutal bear market and because
his country's tax policy forces him to do that with his own masternode. The more smart masternode operators who are not restricted by such a hostile crypto tax policy have reserves and can therefore save their masternode rewards, to sell during a bull market. And then you have those masternode operators that do all the above, and also increase their crypto revenue by setting up more masternodes during a bear market.

It is sad to see the same ramblings from toknormal about the already approved and active blockreward reallocation change still occurring, i guess dumping those ramblings throughout most
of 2020 in this forum was not enough, so the ramblings continue in 2021.

Good thing we have the ignore button, i just wish people would stop feeding toknormal so much in this forum.

AzzAz : sold most of his Dash during last bull market and moved on to other coins (BTC & ETH)
Afbitcoins : sold most of his Dash during this bear market, when Dash price was really low
toknormal : ramblings about the blockreward reallocation change for many many many months now, most likely sells his Dash at first opportunity (first big pump) as he posted in the past

None of these people give me the feeling that they are longterm in Dash anymore. Why should we care about posts from people that already sold most of their Dash or stated to do so with first major pomp and just fill their time waiting for that major pump with ramblings about the blockreward reallocation change ?

Selfnote : if i ever plan to sell all my Dash or most of my Dash, please do not sink so low by spreading FUD on the Dash forums like some of the above people have been doing.

With regard to miners :

Source : https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/dash-hashrate.html#1y

Dash mining hashrate is doing just fine. The blockreward reallocation change (9% of the miners rewards moving towards masternodes in a time period of 4.5 years) has zero effect so far on the hashrate, as predicted by so many people. I doubt the next planned blockreward reallocation (end of February 2021) will change that, or the reallocations that follow after that (every 3 months).
Why miners still mine is simple, because they can. They could in previous Dash bear markets and they can in this one. Nothing more to say about that.

Since the hashrate does not seem effected by the blockreward reallocation change, more desperate-sounding assumptions have been emerging and are presented as facts by toknormal & afbitcoins. Sad times really when people sink this low, in order to try to still prove their pointless points.

It must be frustrating for them to see none of their 'Dash is doomed, miners will abandon Dash' prediction posts come true.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 51% attack on: January 21, 2021, 11:43:35 PM
Recently Firo, former Zcoin had a 51% attack and it was possible to change/tamper data of 306 blocks(or so). What exactly is that? Is it like the guy who had control of 51% of the network had overwritten the block? How does anyone get benefitted from such an attack? What's the step to prevent such attack?
https://cointelegraph.com/news/privacy-focused-firo-cryptocurrency-suffers-51-attack

That is mentioned in the article :

Quote
For the Firo team, the attack was only possible because the project was yet to deploy Chainlocks on the mainnet. A Chainlock is a secondary validation layer that reportedly
mitigates a 51% attack.

According to Yap, with Chainlocks activated, an attacker would need to control at least half of all Firo master nodes in addition to the usual 51% mining hash rate dominance.

Firo has reportedly completed the testing protocols for Chainlocks and is primed for its full deployment in the next few weeks. When integrated, Chainlocks will be the latest protocol
feature added to the project after activating the Lelantus upgrade.

What the article fails to mention is that ChainLocks has been developed by Dash, has been active on the Dash network for some time now (since July 2019) to protect the Dash network
against 51% attacks.

Firo (Zcoin) announced way back in June 2019, that they were planning to implement Dash's ChainLocks feature into their codebase (together with two other Dash features)
Strange that it took them this long to implement ChainLocks (still a few weeks to go, according article).

https://dashnews.org/zcoin-to-copy-dashs-chainlocks-51-attack-proofing/
https://dashnews.org/dash-activates-chainlocks-51-attack-protection-becomes-most-secure-decentralized-currency/#
https://dashnews.org/andreas-antonopoulos-calls-dash-chainlocks-a-smart-way-of-preventing-51-attacks/

Firo could have had protection against 51% attacks, if they just implemented and activated Dash's ChainLocks feature on their Firo Mainnet sooner.
Either Firo devs gave it a low priority to implement, or ChainLocks is more difficult to copy from Dash code base, adjust and activate on their own Firo Mainnet.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Privacy Coin Firo under 51% attack on: January 21, 2021, 01:13:55 PM
This is bad and will likely turn investors towards other privacy coins like Monero. That is, if a team can't protect their blockchain and give hackers a taste of what it feels like, that is to say the platform will find it hard getting investors or users who will trust them henceforth, and considering it is a privacy coin which is believed to be decentralized, this is a bad one for them. Or maybe it could be that in the process of developing a new feature or protocol like the Chainlock as mentioned, they made a mistake thus giving hackers the loophole they are looking for. Nevertheless, I hope they come back stronger and better, while giving investors good reasons to keep trusting them while also using it for anonymous purposes.

The only mistake they made, was not activating ChainLocks on their Mainnet (they are still in a testing phase on their Testnet).
They announced to copy Dash ChainLocks feature in June 2019*, why is it taking so long to copy, implement and activate Dash ChainLocks on their Mainnet ?

* Zcoin to Copy Dash’s ChainLocks 51% Attack-Proofing
https://dashnews.org/zcoin-to-copy-dashs-chainlocks-51-attack-proofing/

Maybe Dash ChainLocks is difficult to copy, implement and activate on their network, or maybe they gave it low priority.

Quote
“The sentiment in Asia at least has been very bearish in the short term, after they saw the retail side is getting too bullish, ” Alex Zuo, vice president of China-based crypto wallet Cobo,
told CoinDesk. He said the recent price surge in alternative cryptocurrencies reflects increased interest from retail investors, who usually tend to react to price volatility more significantly.

As a result, institutions and bitcoin whales are less inclined to put fresh capital into the market. Zuo said. Instead, they are either taking profits by selling on the spot market or executing arbitrate trades by shorting the spot market.

Data from on-chain analytics firm CryptoQuant also indicates there is selling pressure on the spot market. The whale ratio on exchanges, which measures the relative size of the top 10 inflows to total inflows for all exchanges, has gone up since last week to above 0.85, meaning that more large bitcoin holders are depositing bitcoin on exchanges. That is considered a sell signal because it could mean large holders of bitcoin are looking to unload their inventory to the market.
