3241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling risks during coronavirus pandemic on: May 09, 2021, 07:11:26 PM
  • When you are tempted to gamble online, use that to motivate you to go for a walk or exercise instead.
There is another alternative whenever you're tempted to gamble. And that is to play some computer games or by watching videos and movies to spend your time that should be for gambling.

Actually, there are other activities that you can revert your attention if you want to avoid to gamble or you can no longer control yourself and you're looking for some ways to avoid it.

We all know that if anyone is addicted to gambling, he will not like to play games other than gambling. In gambling there is a chance of winning real money which is not available in other PC games. Also some mid-aged gamblers feel shy in playing video games as they say that they are not young to play such childish games.
It's about divertion your attention when you're tempted.

Just because you want to gamble, you really want to gamble and you can't do things aside from gambling. You can still play games and it's for helping yourself to avoid gambling when you're tempted.

No doubt, but the first option has additional benefits. Aside from distracting you from gambling, exercise can improve your health and physical condition.
Researchers have discovered that exercising releases endorphins which improve your mood. This can have a positive effect on gamblers because it makes it easier for them to abstain from gambling.

...it seems you're very active in the gambling section and that section doesn't have enough merit sources to visit and it might distribute some good posters there.
That is true indeed. The Gambling discussions together with the Altcoin sub are the two most spammed parts of this forum. No wonder that many merit sources avoid it like the plague. It's difficult to pick out merit-worthy posts amongst a whole lot of rubbish.

I guess we all know what causes this.  Wink

But there are good exceptions and they deserve more attention. Just recently I reported such a topic in the Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source thread. I am glad that a few merit sources checked it out and sent some merits to the OP. I will try to find other examples of merit-worthy topics in the gambling boards that deserve some merits, and I can only appeal to other users active there to do the same.

Yes, definitely. Even though it's sometimes difficult to differentiate a tree from a forest, I see at least one (in my opinion) merit-worthy post every day. It is in those moments I would've liked to have more merits to share, and I agree with the OP. Therefore, I try to keep a merit or two in reserve even though I generally try not to pile them up. Like you suggested, it's good to lower the bar a bit and make it easier for young members to progress on the forum. Sometimes, it feels as if I am constantly meriting the same members. It may be difficult for some members to produce exceptional posts due to either a lack of expertise or a language barrier. If they positively contribute to a quality discussion on the forum, that is enough for me.
3243  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to post a $50 drawing for people registering on a token site in a set time on: May 09, 2021, 05:18:41 PM
Would it be okay even tho you need to have to register for an account on an altcoins web page its for a $50 gift card and not for nft or tokens.

I just do not want the post to get deleted

I think sharing links is OK, unless you spam the forum. However, do not post hidden (shortened) and/or referral links.

The Services section on the forum is for promoting services. If you are selling physical or digital items, it is best to post in the appropriate boards in the Marketplace section.
3244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will dogecoin drop to $0.2 again? on: May 09, 2021, 04:39:00 PM
Dogecoin is dropping. Will dogecoin drop to $0.2 again?

While major cryptocurrency like bitcoin are known to be volatile, they aren't quite as unpredictable as the dogecoin. This is a whole new level of crazy.

I'm talking about more than a 30% drop in dogecoin's value, and a halving in its valuation from almost $90 billion to $60 billion in just the last day. Just like with bitcoin, this is probably the result of a mix of factors, but one of them is probably the speculation by its holders and disappointment with recent news. The most exciting news is that a prominent figure has come forward to called it a "hustle" during his guest-host spot on the SNL comedy sketch TV show.

Will dogecoin drop to $0.2 again? It's actually really hard to say at this point. In my opinion, yes.
There is no way dogecoin can sustain itself at its current value forever. Its value will drop from $ 0.5 to $ 0.2 and even lower in the very near future.
3245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Big News for Ethereum - First Ethereum ETF in U.S. on: May 09, 2021, 12:58:14 PM
It was VanEck before that has applied for a bitcoin ETF but didn't end well. But hopefully this time, if they weren't successful for the application of bitcoin ETF.
Then, this is going to be a good and big news that it will be part of the history of being the first to have an Ethereum ETF. Every such news that's about Ethereum will have its pumping reaction.

The Bitcoin ETF, I believe, is still on the table. According to news reports, the SEC has not yet made a final decision.
-cut-

That's true. The Bitcoin ETF in the US remains the holy grail of Bitcoin investments. Once approved, the bitcoin's price will likely skyrocket, and most coins will rise along with it.

The first Bitcoin ETF application was filed almost a decade ago, but it was rejected. It was later submitted again, and again, rejected. There have been at least twelve proposals that have reached the SEC's desk over the years, and none has made it to the board. However, something really feels different now. There are already several crypto exchange-traded funds outside the US, including Canada and Brazil. Additionally, a new chairman has been seated at the SEC, former CFTC chief Gary Gensler; while noted Bitcoin skeptic Dalia Blass left the Investment Management division in January.

There seems to be some market reaction.

VanEck Files For First Ethereum ETF in U.S.

According to Bloomberg, on Friday VanEck Associates Corp. filed its first Ethereum ETF, a companion application to its Bitcoin ETF application, which is currently being reviewed by the SEC.

"If approved, the VanEck Ethereum Trust would hold Ether and value its shares daily based off the MVIS CryptoCompare Ethereum benchmark rate, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission."

Musk promises to "behave" on SNL tonight.

Musk appears in a preview for tonight's episode of Saturday Night Live. He is joined by musical guest Miley Cyrus and cast member Cecily Strong. Musk says he'll do his best to behave, but he also added, "I'm a wild card, so there's no telling what I might do."

3250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers steal Ethereum, who is hurt? on: May 08, 2021, 06:34:00 AM
How come? Most of my Ethereum is in exchange so I think it's safe there also I don't store my ethereum to some wallets but on hardware wallet. We really can't tell where they will attack or when.

You think your Ethereum is SAFU on the exchange? Haven't we learned anything from the past?

When you send your coins to the exchange, it really isn't your money. It belongs to the exchange.
3251  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any other webiste or other platforms that pay you crypto? on: May 06, 2021, 01:47:50 PM
Like Bitcointalk you all know where I can get more bitcoin or altcoin outside this website?

There's a few other alternative forums, but bitcointalk.org is the biggest and most active Bitcoin community, imho.
You can have a lot of fun on bitcointalk, but the gist of it is just the sharing of knowledge, meaning you have to contribute something. I wouldn't really recommend bitcointalk if your only goal is to make money online.
3252  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to add a segwit address to blockchain.com? on: May 06, 2021, 12:48:10 PM
I am trying to add this private key on blockchain.com to get this address in my wallet on this site.
instead, it adds a NOT segwit address to me.
how to get the correct one?

It's important to note that Blockchain.com is a web wallet and is not the best way to access your bitcoin address as there is a risk of accidentally landing on a phishing site and losing your funds. As recommended by OmegaStarScream and Charles-Tim, the Electrum wallet is a much safer solution.

However, if you still want to use a web wallet, you can try Bitamp Wallet. Bitamp is an easy-to-use, client-side, open-source Bitcoin wallet that also supports native SegWit addresses.

3253  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Don't ever quit your job to trade crypto. on: May 06, 2021, 09:43:07 AM
Some people say that trading is easy money, you just throw some money at the exchange and it will automatically grow for you like magic.
But is it really that easy? Not really, the money really does not come to those who invest a few dollars, it comes to those who invest a few thousand and more. Trading is not easy money at all. Just because you were successful for a couple of days, that doesn't mean you will make any money in the long run. You have to maintain your winnings and losses. That is why it is important to understand the fundamentals of the market.

If you are successful in trading, don't get greedy and don't get too excited. Only practice a couple of trades at a time. Also, unless you're experienced, never trade using leverage.
3254  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam]: Fake Tron Wallet on: May 06, 2021, 08:42:54 AM
Reported to Google Safe Browsing.

It probably took no more than 10 seconds making that report, so there's really no reason you shouldn't as well. Your action could save someone from losing their savings or worse.
3255  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM ALERT] Bitcoin generator - exchanger365x.com on: May 06, 2021, 08:32:20 AM
So many scammers like this disgust me! The creatures that spend their entire existence looking for ways to run scams and taking advantage of the gullible. They act like they are smarter than the general public. But, they are not. They're just evil. Of course, experienced users won't fall for such foolhardy tricks, but some inexperienced and naive people could. That is the exact reason why Bitcoin still causes some people to feel uncomfortable and distrustful.
3256  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Always pay yourself first!!!!! on: May 04, 2021, 09:55:06 PM
It doesn't matter how you look at it, there is no easy formula for taking profit because the future is unpredictable. Investors are often surprised by the performance of many coins.
As an investor, I know that sitting on huge gains is a good problem to have, but it can still be a problem if you don't already have a game plan in place. On the other hand, we could end up missing even higher profits tomorrow if we sell today. This happens all the time – to everyone.

In my opinion, there are basically three ways to go about this:

- Just hodl it indefinitely. Like those who invest in stocks for retirement, for example.
- When you buy the coin, you set a target and stick to it. Then, once the target is reached, sell the coins and make a new plan.
- Cash out a portion of the profits gradually. Sell 10% and leave the rest for a couple of days or weeks. If it goes up again, sell 10% and leave the rest again.

Most of the time, I opt for the third option, but it does not apply to my long-term goals, which I lock in for years.
3257  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: usb flash bitcion ? on: May 03, 2021, 11:23:10 AM
hello how is bitcion stored on usb flash I want to know about it

The Electrum wallet has a portable version that you can download from the official website and unpack to a USB Flash Drive. Keep in mind that, while this allows you to run your wallet on any device, there is a security risk to be aware of:

Since we now have a subforum for Electrum, I am rewriting here what I already said in other threads. I hope it's more visible in its own thread.

It is not safe to use a portable version of Electrum on an insecure computer!

Do not download Electrum from another source than electrum.org, and learn to verify GPG signatures.

3258  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Always pay yourself first!!!!! on: May 02, 2021, 08:44:09 PM
When investing in any coin, you should have a clear strategy, (i.e. an entry price and an exit price) and once the market reaches your exit price target, take a good percentage off to pay yourself, do not let greed set in. The market is very unpredictable and can turn on you anytime, but if you pay yourself, you won't have any regrets.

The fear of missing out may be the motivation for sales but you're better off waiting for your best opportunities. But, according to past experience, it is better to be a little late than to sell too early.

Some tips:

-Take profit when the long-term trend reverses by which time the price is no longer elevated from where it was before the start of the trend.
-Start to take profits when the downward trend is evident.
-Don't sell during high volume.

3260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you limit your gambling time? on: May 02, 2021, 06:58:38 PM
This is very common, once people make the realization of how much money they have lost over the years they have a desire to get it back
There are also other gamblers that whenever they calculate the amount of money they've dedicated and lost on it, they'll feel bad and regretting.

As the usual goes, we're always like that but we also happen to compute how much we've won and that making us proud.

There's a time to make predictions, and a time to adjust your views based on reality.
Gambling is a high-stakes, high-stress pursuit. The failure to realize how closely your actions match your beliefs often leads to sudden and massive failures. And it's possible that, no matter how well-meaning or diligent they believe they are, some gamblers out there have destroyed their lives due to gambling addiction.

For many people, gambling can be both an exhilarating and addictive activity. For others, there is something very different about gambling: a compulsion that just won't stop. The natural impulse of people with compulsive gambling addiction is to keep playing even when they know they're about to lose, and even when they're about to go broke.
