3241  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the most weird public addresses you've ever seen? on: April 30, 2020, 03:27:31 PM
Doesn't this require strong cpu? Especially for that 1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE, that guy completed an entire phrase in his public address. Can't imagine the time it took searching for the perfect private key...
That address didn't technically require any CPU runtime at all. It's a specifically crafted burning address. The address was crafted in such a way that it would be valid but it's public key is not mapped to any private key and thus it would never, in theory be able to be spent. Addresses like that are used to intentionally discard Bitcoins in a provable way.

I didn't fully understand this. So there is no point of creating an address like that? Is it useless?
It is useless if you want to spend from that address. If you want to make your Bitcoin unspendable[1], make an address like that and send your coins there. No one in the future, not even yourself is likely to obtain the private key to that address and it is effectively removed from circulation.

Damn last night it was down to like 15000 unconfirmed transactions  and said eta like 5 blocks 50 minutes now this thing has skyrocketed 80,000 unconfirmed at this point I think I'm going to never get this confirmed if the bitcoin price doesn't have another surge so you guys think it will be confirmed like late tonight I am not trying to pay 30$ for that viabtc accelerator  and the other btc accelerator  is just as high if not higher I only got around 15$ to get it confirmed can someone find me a miner what about kano I heard he's good.
Kano pool is one of the smallest pool around, they only mined a block in the past few months. You're better off just waiting if you're asking them.

We've given you all the possible solutions and it's up to you whether you want to choose either of them. If you want to find someone else, chances are, you would get scammed. $15 is probably not worth the time for most of the miners, if you want your transaction to be confirmed the soonest, either of the 2 sites being suggested is your solution.

pushtx.btc.com is an alternative and they might be cheaper.
Unfortunately, this also seems to be defunct... I'm getting a blank page on that one. Undecided
Oops. Seems to require a https on that one. Working fine for me with it.

3245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Become Negative in Value? on: April 30, 2020, 06:10:50 AM
There's a huge difference between mining for Bitcoin and oil. Countries in the world can easily increase the volume of oil that they can produce as most of them are not producing at the maximum capacity. If this were to applied to Bitcoin, the increase in the difficulty every 2016 block would be enough to counter the effects of the increase in resources. Even if it is done to further their political agenda, the effect is fairly limited.

To the reason for the negative oil value; storing oil incurs losses and if there is no use for oil, it would make more economical sense to dump them off to someone else. Since no one wants it, they would pay people to get it off their hands. Bitcoin in comparison, doesn't incur any expenses and this scenario would never happen to Bitcoin.
3246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction on: April 30, 2020, 05:54:25 AM
Does anyone know how to tag macbook-air or coolseekers moderators I read that they could help me mine my transaction but they don't accept message from newbies it says I don't have but about 15 bucks to send them or else I would just do the viabtc accelerator thing but they want 35$ it seems like it's going to take forever at waiting the eta goes from 80 mins to 60 mins back to 80
Both of them have access to F2Pool which allows them to insert the transaction into the block that F2Pool is mining so either of them would work. I wouldn't bother with contacting either of them; it's more of a hassle than just paying one of the sites right now and there's no guarantees that it would be any cheaper given the current situation.

pushtx.btc.com is an alternative and they might be cheaper.
3247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction on: April 30, 2020, 04:04:14 AM
One last question what the antpool and thanks again
Antpool is a mining pool. By submitting the transaction to that site, they're telling the pool to help to prioritise the transaction in the block that they're mining. Antpool will then include your transaction into a block that they're trying to solve now. If and only if they manage to find a block, your transaction would likely to be confirmed in their block. If not, nothing changes.

3249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Few questions (First time Lighting,Wasabi & CoinJoin, using Bitcoin Core offline) on: April 24, 2020, 01:16:29 PM
I've never used Wasabi or CoinJoined before so I can't answer for that. For lightning, I've only used Eclair to send coins before (on my phone so I can't really give sound advice on that either.

Using Bitcoin Core offline :

- i have my bitcoin core wallet fully synced (bitcoin core 0.19.1), can i create an address while i am offline and after i have fully synced the wallet, if yes, then how there will be ever an coincidence that the offline generated wallet is already generated or will be future generated ? (I'm referring to the (How to Deposit Funds) in this article https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_set_up_a_secure_offline_savings_wallet)
No. Firstly, its a misconception that addresses must be made known to the network so that the rest can't generate it. It's completely untrue and it doesn't make sense (given Bitcoin's model). The generation of the address relies on the probability of someone else generating the same address as you. The probability is so small, that it would take you quite a few lifetimes even if everyone were to bruteforce it with the strongest computer today.
- lets assume i have a wallet with 1 btc, would bitcoin core after being fully synced and then go offline allow me to send 0.5 btc to address x and 0.5 btc to address y
and after the internet connection is back and i am online, the transaction would take place immediately as if it is just waiting to sense internet connection in order to log the transaction on the blockchain or not possible and i must send the funds while i am online
Bitcoin Core would send transactions only when it detects an internet connection and is connected to its peers.

3250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bothered with Complicated Bitcoin wallets/Addresses on: April 23, 2020, 10:04:32 AM
Having a complicated wallet or addresses are the root of all losses of those people who are using it. When you want to be secured with your wallet, try to make your account, easy to memorize and remember so that you will not have a hard time sending or receiving money in your wallet. Some of those people who have a harder and longer bitcoin wallet address are prone to losing their money that's why it is not necessary for your address to become long and hard to memorize. Make it shorter, so that you can make your address highly secured compared to those who have long and hard to understand account. Those wallet that you have stated have different issues and problems in their platform and it will surely not that easy to become prone to that.
Sources? This entire post is full of bullshit.

I doubt anyone on this forum actually remembers their Bitcoin addresses at all or are even trying to remember as they use different addresses for each transaction. There isn't actually any way at all to intentionally make Bitcoin address longer than it should be or has anyone actually attempted this at all. Using a wallet is actually quite easy; it takes a day max to thoroughly understand the entire wallet unless you're computer illiterate. The main issue with users losing coin is usually due to hacks, the wallet's negligence and/or compromised wallets.
3251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bothered with Complicated Bitcoin wallets/Addresses on: April 23, 2020, 05:44:00 AM
The only wallets on the list that I can really recommend are the hardware wallets. Your choice of software wallets is honestly not the best given their track record and their transparency.

I don't see how wallets like Bitcoin Core or Electrum are hard to use at all. You do need to download the blocks for Bitcoin Core but that'll only mean sacrificing a few hours in exchange for better security. SPV wallets are usually quite user-friendly and there really shouldn't be any reason why anyone would struggle to use those wallets.
3252  Economy / Goods / Re: Looking for someone to reship for me on: April 23, 2020, 01:42:01 AM
Bump looking for this again.

what exactly are you needing? you ship it to someone and they reship it for you? are they reshipping at their expense and waiting for you to reimburse?
That is correct. I'm perfectly fine with paying upfront if that's what is requested (provided that the person is trusted enough).

ok - I have to ask the obvious - why are you unable to ship directly? If the pay is worth it, I would not mind doing for you.
I'm not located within the states and its pretty hard for me to find my size around here for a good price.

and they wont ship directly to you? if so, that sucks.

Yup. Nike.com don't do international shipping.

3255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Having trouble with SegWit stuff on: April 23, 2020, 12:44:51 AM
How did you create your Segwit address? I assume that you're using a P2SH-P2PWKH address (starts with 3). If so, you should have a private key that corresponds to that address as those P2SH addresses are generated from your WIF private key.

You have to download Electrum, and follow this guide[1].

3257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Testnet] Is this normal? on: April 20, 2020, 02:48:24 PM
Yes. The verification of the blockchain depends very much on your hardware specification as the speed is related to how fast you can verify the entire block. You can speed it up by increasing the dbcache, if you have sufficient ram.

As there are significantly more blocks than the main net, it can still take quite sometime. Testnet Bitcoin is usually useless and is more often than not used as a testbed for experimental implementation before it is actually implemented on the mainnet. Else, if you're a developer for your own stuff, it's better to use regtest instead.
3258  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why difficulty change every 2016 blocks and not every 1? on: April 20, 2020, 11:28:05 AM
Now the thing I don't get is why every 2016 blocks? Why not every 1 block? The next block will have a new difficulty.
The block interval is not constant. Even with the same amount of hashpower solving the network, the time interval between blocks is still varies by a huge amount. There are certain blocks that are mined within seconds of each other as the probability of mining a block that meets the difficulty depends very heavily on luck too. The distribution of the block follows the Poisson distribution and as such, it would be better to take a sample size that is much bigger before the network adjusts its difficulty.

3260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is it dangerous to load other people's wallet files in the Bitcoin client? on: April 18, 2020, 03:43:39 PM
Yes, but a virus cannot infect a given blockchain database?
If the second computer does not have Internet connection,
and we will connect blockchain database from another HDD?
It really doesn't matter where you are running the Bitcoin client. No matter where you load the wallet from, the virus can infect files in another disk even if they are being run from different drives. The best practice is really to santize your computer by reinstalling the OS everytime after you handle a file. It is possible for malware to operate even if its offline.

Just to reiterate my point; it is not foolproof to see if the wallet.dat contains private key to a given address just by loading it into the client. It is still possible to modify the wallet.dat for it to display different addresses without a corresponding private key.
