3261  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [Vote 2020] Best Bitcointalk Interview on: December 04, 2020, 08:41:35 AM
I'd like to express also my vote inside this contest.

One interview which impressed me a lot was fillippone's. He is also one of the few which filled a book title at the question related to cryptocurrency oriented books.

My vote will go to him:

Code:
fillippone

Here is my vote for Bitcointalk Community Awards.

And again: it would be awesome if all users would read the OP before posting...

       Rules:
  • You must be a Full Member or higher to nominate / vote.

And again:

1. Best Moderator ................. hilariousandco, OmegaStarScream

This Newbie being also merited by some members which I would have expected to read the rules: CryptopreneurBrainboss and LFC_Bitcoin...

This is really incredible! I wonder what they thought they are meriting: the fact that they are mentioned in the contest by a Newbie, whose nominations are null?; the fact that a Newbie is breaking the contest rules? Or what are they meriting here?
3263  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT1 and DT2 members who have negative feedback (or are banned) on: December 03, 2020, 09:27:37 PM
Not surprise to see the ironic behaviour coming from you.
Yes minerjones should not use the feedback this way but what have you done?

You're still butthurt? Thought you would have moved on by now. And don't be a hypocrite like timelord:

MinerJones is attempting to extort staff to get his own way with negative feedback. You think that's trustworthy behaviour and something people should just ignore?

Hello hilarioisandco, if I may add, mdayonliner, although he is on the "correct" path, he still has a lot to do to catch up with the lunatic Timelord. Let's just remember that Tinelord gave me a neutral feedback which sounded as negative, only for pointing out one of his (infinite) scandals to xtraelv's topic which was created for known scandals (more details at my Trust section).

Mdayonliner is on a "good" path, but he still has to work his way until reaching the imbecility level shown by Timelord. This guy (Timelord) is above and beyond any level of imbecility known so far.

Also, I hope you only start tallying the counts after nominations have closed because I changed a few of my answers and likely others did as well.
I think that @icopress mentioned somewhere that we are free to change the votes as we like until the deadline so I guess counting starts after that.

Yes, that's alowed and it is also stated in the rules:

        Rules:

  • You can edit your application until the theme is locked.

Gulag? You know I too have a delete button here, right?

Noooo! I was talking about the rules applied to all of us... Not the ones from your topic, which are more than relaxed Smiley I was trying to help you not to have your own post deleted for gratitude... Didn't you read entirelly what I posted...? Sad
3267  Economy / Services / Re: LoyceV's Avatar for Rent [first 🦊YEAR🦊 (89 weeks) rented out] on: December 02, 2020, 07:35:10 PM
Thanks again! Back to the same 1 second off pattern.

Hello, Supreme Leader of the Thick-Skinned ones! I kindly colloquially (as I'm we're not allowed to use politeness anymore) reminding you that that using courtesy and gratitude in your replies is not accepted anymore. Since recently, we are all under a gulag regime, which implies only discussion of "Sir! Yes Sir" et cetera. Alternatively, according to our lieutenant mprep, you are free to break forum rules and send Foxpup an unsolicited PM of gratitude, which is itself an action breaking (the unofficial) rule #32 of the forum (which is practically an insitigation to break the rules stated by himself; however, in gulag we don't discuss orders, but we execute orders):

29. Sending unsolicited PMs, including but not limited to advertising and flood, is not allowed.

As a consequence, I politely colloquially suggest err... I actually don't even know what to suggest, as one suggestion is to break forum rules by sending an unsolicited PM and the other one would mean to be impolite, which breaks the ethical rules lol.

However, what's certain, is that

is all over you us.

Times are harsh in the gulag regime and don't forget that here Satoshi himself is banned!

And such posts, as yours, can forever flag you as heretic, as they may be the start of a mutiny which, of course, in gulag is not acceptable. Totally not acceptable! And you may end up to be in the same category as Mbitr, MoparMiningLLC, myselfv (or, why not, even minerjones) are!

All you can do (as any other of us) is the following:

1) Taunt the gulag regime and risk the following:

2) Try to mask your honest gratitude inside sophisticated posts (such as this one, hopefully)

3) Hope that, if using a minuscule font,

will not detect your blasphemy!

As a matter of fact, I'll try option 3) right now:

Foxpup, from the bottom of my heart I thank you for doing your best to keep the space-time continuum err continuum and, as a consequence, for keeping the world as it is right now!

If this posts will last for the next 24h it means I saved the world day and Sauron's eye can't read minuscule characters! Well, let's see now and let's pray for the best...
3268  Other / Meta / Re: [PROPOSAL] Partial reset of airdropped merits on: December 02, 2020, 01:41:24 PM
I apologize in advance if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find any thread using the native forum search function.

I created a topic in the past for this matter: Reducing (removing) airdropped merits for those who didn't earn 1 single merit.

However, those who used to rank-up through farming the accounts earned just a few merits, or didn't earn even a single merit in almost 2 years.

I was curious to see how many users are there who received a merit airdrop but who earned 0 merits since January 25th, 2018 [...] However, thank to DdmrDdmr, who performed (I think) a huge effort, I found out that about 800 Legendaries and 3500 2500 [edited after Ddmr notified me about the typo] Heroes didn't earn even 1 merit after the airdrop. [...] I didn't dare to ask him to check also how many Seniors, Full Members or Members are out there without 1 merit earned, but I imagine there are thousands or hundreds of thousands. Indeed, some members were and still are inactive, thus they couldn't earn merits through their posts. However, they could have received some merits for their past posts, if they had quality ones. But even without taking this aspect into consideration, even without counting the inactive members, there are still thousands who are still active and who didn't earn any merit.

[...]

- it doesn't seem right for so many ranks to just "wear" the airdropped merits, without earning any single merit by their efforts, while others work so hard for earning them
- furthermore, the number of merits is one of the first things seen by a new member, who doesn't know about the airdrop, nor about what to look at when he creates his first impression about someone (trust, references, flags etc). Seeing a big number of merits gives the idea of a reputable person. However, those who received the airdrop and didn't earn any single merit since then might trick newbies with different schemes, as the newbies would tend to trust a person with so many merits.

[...]

- it looks weird for a Member or for a Full Member to not earn even a single merit, but it looks very bad to see a Senior, a Hero or a Legendary without earning 1 merit. If at lower ranks is not expected to have so many quality posts, at higher ranks the expectations are higher. Nobody is forced, per se, to write quality content, nor to earn merits, but it raises heavy questions to see a Legendary who didn't earn 1 merit by his skills.

[...]

I understand perfectly the fact that there are members who wrote quality topics prior the merit system, who became inactive and who didn't receive any merit for their past posts (this is pure bad luck, as past posts tend to get merits though - for example, look at Satoshi's posts). None of the above refer to such reputable members. The problem is just about those who take advantage of what they received and who don't offer anything back to the forum (and all they could offer back is just quality writing).

Unfortunately though, theymos considered that the problem is not a top priority one, as you already saw in his answer quoted by eaLiTy...
3269  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hitting ATH right now? on: December 02, 2020, 07:03:07 AM
I checked 2017 all time high:
  • Bitfinex: $19,891
  • BitMEX: $20,093 (not $20,086)

As far as I know, CMC shows a price which is the average of more exchanges... As a consequence, if BTC was 20.093$ at BitMex on 17.12.2017, if this value was added with other values then CMC calculated an average, it could lead to the amount shown of 20.089$.

However, I certainly remember that day that I read that BTC surpassed 20.000$ (can't find the article though).

And, if CMC is not wrong (it could be, but chances are low), then on 01.12.2020 BTC got close to the ATH, without reaching a new ATH.
3270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hitting ATH right now? on: December 02, 2020, 06:16:43 AM
Yes Bitcoin made an ATH today, hope we all made profit.
BITCOIN ALL TIME HIGH
BINANCE - 19798  - BROKEN -
BITSTAMP - 19666 - BROKEN -
BITTREX - 19850
BITFINEX- 19891
COINBASE - 19891
GEMINIi - 19999

I really don't understand why people (and media as well) keep saying that BTC reached a new ATH. According to CoinMarketCap, BTC's ATH was at 20.089$ and this event happened on December 17th, 2017.

What happened recently, on December 1st, was BTC reaching a value very cloae to its ATH, but not a new ATH.
3271  Other / Meta / Re: 4 posts deleted - THANKYOU ??? on: December 01, 2020, 08:51:34 PM
It seems like the actual problem here would be solved, like many of the forums problems, by eliminating signatures.  No signatures, greatly reduced incentive to spam, no need to have bots deleting suspected spam.

Or, even better,

- ban any member participating in a signature campaign (and delete all his post history)
- ban any member which participated in the past in a signature campaign (and delete all his post history)
- ban any member which ever wrote "thank you" or similar words (and delete all those posts, but to be sure you teach him a good lesson, better delete his entire post history as well)
- enforce other gulag rules each possible time, in order to make sure that nobody ever dares to break the rules.

3272  Other / Meta / Re: 4 posts deleted - THANKYOU ??? on: December 01, 2020, 07:49:04 PM
I'd advise mods (especially mprep) to delete all my posts containing a "thank you", thus bringing me back to my Member (maximum Full Member) rank where I belong

I forgot to mention: additionally, if my posts containing gratitude words also received merits, I vouch for having also those merits deleted, as it is obvious that I only spammed the forum with the respective posts. And it would look ridiculous to receive merits for spam, right? This way, true justice would be made, at least in my case: leave me with 15 merits and 20 posts. We all must work together to keep the forum clean!
3273  Other / Meta / Re: 4 posts deleted - THANKYOU ??? on: December 01, 2020, 07:28:39 PM
I'd advise mods (especially mprep) to delete all my posts containing a "thank you", thus bringing me back to my Member (maximum Full Member) rank where I belong! Considering that I am a polite person, very, very many posts of mine contain these words. As a consequence, deleting them all would ruin my activity points, therefore I'd probably end up being a Member and Full Member again. In case of need, I think LoyceV could give a hand and point out exactly all my posts containing the act of Lèse-majesté forbidden words, thus mods could easily delete them all.

I hope this helps and I also hope that I'll be ranked again where I actually deserve, after deleting all my posts where, among other things, I was polite to someone, thanking him / her for one or other reason.
3274  Other / Meta / Re: 4 posts deleted - THANKYOU ??? on: December 01, 2020, 04:19:42 PM
Don't compare apples with durian fruit.

It it you making this comparison, not I. I just stated that a newbie spamming with "great project" is not the same with a polite member of Collectibles board, expressing his gratitude for having the chance to participate inside a raffle.

Although polite and well mannered... not a fan

Well, that says it all, doesn't it?! It is good to know that you are not a fan of politeness. Thank God, many of us are still polite and appreciate politeness and kindness.

Just writing "Thanks" or a short phrase to express gratitude is pretty much the same thing as "nice project" or "joined" or any of those types of posts which are banned in the altcoin section.  But I'm not sure a thank you should automatically be deleted or even reported, because it's not quite as spammy as those other phrases I listed above.

Mbitr's posts, as it already posted them, and mine as well, were not just a "Thanks". They were short expressions, yes, but not a single word.

In any case, OP, if you want to thank someone in a post (and I hate to even suggest this), perhaps try padding the post a little bit with more content.  At least then it's not likely to get reported and deleted.  And yes, moderation here is strict as far as low-value posts go.

And if this would be a workaround, this would mean to actually spam somehow, in order to be allowed to say a thank you, which is exactly the opposite of what raffle participants intended. So this solution means the following:
- raffle participants which are polite thank to the raffle owners;
- their posts are deleted for being considered spam / zero value
- as a workaround, the participants would spam with more words for being able to hide a "thank you"

Makes sense? Smiley Lol.

In my case, one of the three deleted posts stated the following:

Quote
Wow, 9 winners! That's amazing!

Congrats to all of them and thank you OP for this huge and great raffle!

3275  Other / Meta / Re: 4 posts deleted - THANKYOU ??? on: December 01, 2020, 02:39:07 PM
I deleted lots of "thankyou" from newbies and don't see rank or type of signature making any difference.

Actually it does make a difference. And that is, a newbie saying "great project", "thank you for the great project" etc. is part of a group of spammers / shillers which are interested only in bumping an ANN. In Collectibles board, those expressing their gratitude for a free raffle are not shilling anything; are not spamming; are not forcing to bump the respective topic etc. They are simple people, which were part of a raffle and, being polite in their nature, are expressing their gratitude for being offered the chance to win something.

So, yes, there is a difference between your mentioned newbie and another user from Collectibles board, especially inside a raffle topic. And the difference is huge: one wants to spam the forum, while the other is a polite person. This is the difference.
3276  Other / Meta / Re: 4 posts deleted - THANKYOU ??? on: December 01, 2020, 09:36:59 AM
I woke up this morning to find four messages explaining that I’ve had 4 posts deleted - fine it happens !
Intriguingly all 4 posts that were deleted were all for saying all the same thing - Thankyou !!!
These posts were all in the collectibles section of the forum and were
- 3 posts - saying Thankyou for operating a free raffle and giving me a slot

Curiously, I also had 3 similar posts deleted today. All of them were thanking to the OPs of free raffles from Collectbles board, where I was a part of. I didn't think a lot about why they were deleted, although it seemed curious. But now, seeing that it was not an isolated case, makes me wonder why they were deleted... I thought that maybe they were deleted by mistake, but it seems it is not that, since other such posts were also deleted. Then I wondered if someone considered that being polite means to write a zero value post, saying thank you.

They don't seem to have been reported.

Hilariousandco, are you kind, please, to check also my 3 deleted posts? Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your suggested links, BitcoinFX! As usual, you bring a lot of precious information for all those interested about Bitcoin, its history and about remarkable figures of the past which contributed one way or another for bringing to light what came to be known as Bitcoin!

GazetaBitcoin, You have an eye like an eagle  Wink

Hehe, thanks! Smiley

Don't also forget about my other post from above, where I pointed out that users don't read also the description of Antihero category and make ridiculous nominations, such as Bitcoin SV. I'd advise to contact these as well...
3280  Economy / Reputation / Re: 🏆 Bitcointalk Community Awards [Discussion] on: November 29, 2020, 04:46:58 PM
And I also noticed another aspect which makes me think that not all users read the OP. Too many users post more than 3 users at a category, which breaks the following rule:

  • A maximum of 3 members can be nominated in each category.

I also advise OP to contact those which mentioned more than 3 users at a category, for informing them that their 4th nomination will not be taken into account. Of course, OP can also contact the respective posters to announce them about the rule and to suggest them to edit their nominations by themselves, thus they'll have maximum 3 nominees at each section.
