3261  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High transaction fees on: April 23, 2021, 04:18:02 PM
None of them would have existed without bitcoin, but (don't crucify me for this) if bitcoin suddenly went away, other cryptocurrencies could fulfill the currency role that bitcoin had quite easily.  And while those forked coins aren't popular on this forum, it's hard to argue that right now it'd be much easier to buy something with pretty much any coin other than bitcoin.
Let's understand the market psychology. If bitcoin vanish, no value at all. Value against the standard fiat unit goes zero then there will be panic everywhere. The myth will be everywhere that if Bitcoin disappears then another cryptocurrency form can disappear as well. Means everyone will move away from the entire industry. None will exist any more. Theoretically maybe one can prove it but practically vanishing all bitcoin node, vanishing all saved data of the node owners are not going to happen unless the whole world suddenly goes back to the past when there were no digital form of technology, no digital data storage device.

Bitcoin is going nowhere, Internet is not going anywhere, crypto industry, crypto technology is going to evolve further.

Consider bitcoin as gold and platinum bar in physical form. Other alts are those of cheap silver coins. You can use these silver coins (cheap alts) for regular shopping.
3262  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: London High Court: Craig Wright to sue Bitcoin.org operator-publisher on: April 23, 2021, 03:56:11 PM
The almost universal consensus clearly is that he is NOT the inventor of Bitcoin so what are the real reasons that are driving Wright to these lengths?
The one and only reason is to seek attention.

Quote
The signalling theory: He had the opportunity two take two different paths of proving he is him (satoshi). One path would have been to make that exact kind of proof. Make a signature from the first Bitcoin block. Put the signature out in public. Make a very simple 10 line blog post that anyone  including <insert few names> can verify that it's him. Instead, he has taken this path where he wrote this big long blog post with 200 lines. It's so confusing that even <insert some names> said it's confusing and tried to show only to a few selected people where we are supposed to trust them.

So in general the signalling theory says, if you have a good way of proving something and a noisy way. And you chose the noisy way then that means you could not do the good way in the first place.

3263  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High transaction fees on: April 23, 2021, 03:27:46 PM
Don't get too excited with those forked coins or even with all other shitcoins. Imagine the cryptocurrency industry without bitcoin. None of them will exist if Bitcoin is not around.

The recent spike of fees are maybe annoying, but it's temporary.

I have concluded Bitcoin is flawed unless you are rich and always make large purchases. I once considered buying bitcoin to purchase cannabis seeds overseas. Not anymore. It is not worth it because of the transaction fees. Add the volatility of the price to that. Why? Why would I bother? I think many others will conclude the same.
It seems Ver hired you to shill for his shitcoin. You can still buy those cannabis using BCH or BSV or even with your fiat currency.

3266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Any solution to broadcast with reduced fees? Maybe any other suggested network? on: April 22, 2021, 11:43:48 AM
I do not understand tech much. Someone in my PM said I can use Coinbase and ask the participants to give a Coinbase bitcoin address. In Coinbase for internal transaction he said there are no fees. And he also said there are some script I can buy which can do mass payment in Coinbase.

Quote
Or write\buy script to ease managing. ( simple script to create qr codes with address, amount to simply scan and send...)

If such a script exists then where do I find them to buy. Is it safe at all?

I was almost hitting the merit button but holding myself until I hear back from you.
3268  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lightning bitcoin payment on this forum on: April 21, 2021, 10:01:18 PM
An alternate option could be to allow participans using custodial wallets where internal transfers are free.
Maybe you can offer some sort of bonus for such users?
I need a custodial wallet that allows
1. Mass payment like using Electrum I can pay more then one address in one transaction
2. Fees are less of course.

Any such service?

There are topics on lightning network on this forum but these two are the best I have noticed.

The Lightning Network FAQ
Electrum Lightning Network walkthrough

Thanks buddy.
3269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lightning bitcoin payment on this forum on: April 21, 2021, 07:53:37 PM
I believe campaign managers will be the best to answer this question, I will like campaign managers to give some valid reasons they are not yet using lightning network for paying, also people can comment about any suggested reasons they are thinking to be the reason.
I felt the need today. I am managing a campaign where I was suppose to pay 50+ users in bitcoin. Total amount was something like 0.004 BTC and Electrum was suggesting me a fee of 0.00435457 BTC
Fees for broadcasting 0.00435457 BTC  ( 255.4 sat/byte ) at current sat/byte rate for next block.

This is obviously unreasonable. So I had to change the payment method. With that I am now in some hassle.

1. I had to move the campaign thread from Service board to Altcoin board.
2. Asking LTC address from the participants and many more.

I think in the next BTC paying campaign I will consider an LN payment if I can convince the devs of whatever the project is. One problem I see is the wallet making hassle for campaign participants. Do we have a topic about creating LN channel using Electrum?
3270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [PAUSE]YouSwap Bounty campaign 🔥🔥 Reward $1050 in Bitcoin 🔥🔥 Up to 50 spots! on: April 21, 2021, 01:22:10 PM
Unfortunately we are going to PAUSE the campaign. It was supposed to be two weeks but after this first week, we are pausing the campaign. So no new recruitment for this until further notice.

Paying in bitcoin is causing a very high fees for the current week, please read this topic: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5332148.0
So I have decided to pay the qualified users in LTC.

Please visit the spreadsheet and those who are qualified, send me an LTC address below:
Code:
Bitcointalk username:
Twitter Campaign spreadsheet line number:
Telegram Campaign spreadsheet line number:
LTC address:

Example:
Bitcointalk username: Ibrahim60
Twitter Campaign spreadsheet line number: 19
Telegram Campaign spreadsheet line number: 17
LTC address:<LTC address>

Please make post very quick so that I can finish the job in the next 24 hours.
3271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Any solution to broadcast with reduced fees? Maybe any other suggested network? on: April 21, 2021, 01:07:54 PM
You know the blackout in certain mining region if China that resulted to miners not mining in the area by now, this caused significant mining hash reduction, the reason for such congested mempool. If this continues, the mining difficulty adjustment is less than two weeks, it will be adjusted and things will become back to normal. I see that you are getting more into managing campaign now, after the whole issue is solved, you will still be able to send using a feerate between 10-20 sat/vbyte which is still fear enough. You can still hold on to using the normal bitcoin transaction.
I understand things will get back to normal but my problem how are :

1. Need to pay these members ASAP. As a manager I am responsible to ensure their payment, I can not just tell them to wait.
2. It seems I will have to ask them another payment form if I want to pay them which means paying in ALT coin which hurts my feeling to be honest.

Please check above. I have like 50+ output address and all of them are not very high amount.
Fees for broadcasting 0.00435457 BTC  ( 255.4 sat/byte ) at current sat/byte rate for next block.
If I reduce it to 30 sat/b which will take ages still the fees will be  0.0005115 BTC  ( 30. sat/byte )

The point is the fees are taking a big amount from the budget. I never tried any other wallet for mass payment guess this is what we bitcoiner don't do. Never thought I will have this kind of sweet situation LOL

I heard there are other chains or something (Binance chain or shit kind of things I guess). What are these and how can I use them, which wallet to use if I want to send these btc. Sorry about all these stupid things to ask. If anything exists to solve this then please can you give me some instructions so that I can mass payment these users.

PS: These addresses are already public. The amounts will be changed. I am using this to give a picture of the problem I am in.

It makes me angry to be honest. I don't think legally they can put such things, or we would not see cases on the court and in some events the overruling of casinos appeal.

How many people would go to court with a fake casino?
Not many and the bookies take this weakness to make their money. However, I have seen few cases went in the court and the punters got the favour most of the time. If more and more gamblers would be serious about their money then we might see more cases and these bookies could be more careful in conducting their fake business.

For now and unless theymos says otherwise I think we should just stick to whatever it pays more in, or if there's some confusion about percentages with bonuses or whatnot if it pays in an alt then it just goes in the alt board.
Since it's already a topic on the staff board. Let's lock this topic and agree with you. Let's hope theymos makes necessary changes so that the service board can not be misused.

Please no more application from this point. We have enough for this week. If we need more then next week we will have the application open again. If you are accepted then you will in spreadsheet please check it.

If your entry in any campaign on the spreadsheet marks as yellow then you are surely missing any info or not following rules properly. See the comment section and make it correct then on the telegram group send me text to remove the yellow mark. Please do it in the next 24 hours or you will be removed and someone else from the waiting list will take your place.

Good luck everyone.

Bump!
Looking for an update.

If the rule is not 100% bitcoin payment is allowed in the Service section then this signature thread do not deserve Bounties (Altcoins) section, but it deserves the Service section. In fact having this campaign in Bounties (Altcoins) section means you are allowing a bitcoin payment service in Bounties (Altcoins) section :-D

Payment up to $20 is BTC and additional up to $80 bonus in native token literally makes it a bitcoin paying signature campaign where the payment is up to $20/w
