32701  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Jan 11 to Feb 11 Sidehack Compac Stick pool new 30 day run. Birthday promo on: February 10, 2016, 12:14:37 AM
phil you definitely have put fun back into mining. THANK YOU for all your efforts!

however you want to roll is OK by me. hope things pick up for you.

I just need a break from running this for a while.

I may start it back after a while.

If buysolar and I get the solar array going it will make things easier to run since that setup is a one time cost. It lets me figure out how to run promos easier.

This club was a promo for the compac sticks.

If sidehack gets pods going I would really try this again.

I sent him a dead avalon6 board maybe he can get something from them.
32702  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [700 TH] mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: February 09, 2016, 11:08:19 PM
I'm wondering, why is anyone still mining at mmpool? Serious question. Miners are discussing when pools are not mining many blocks daily but here??? It's a great pool but far too small hashrate to solve a block regularly.

the top miners like my self chase accumulated earnings.

right now I pointed 2ph at the pool in an effort to unlock my 5 coins.

yeah looking forward to getting this one.

32705  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Great deal on Avalon A6's... on: February 09, 2016, 08:13:30 PM
At this point it looks like they're almost all sold - so if you are interested, contact me first before starting escrow with OgNasty.  Once I ship out the ones today and go through them all, I'll post how many are left.

I sent a pm
32706  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Re round three of Avalon group buy. interest page. on: February 09, 2016, 08:11:01 PM
Trust me, i wanted one or two more Rev 2 very badly !

They are quite nice!  Since I started mine up last Friday it hasn't had a single hiccup and has stayed within +/- 15GH of 3835 the entire time.  Far less babysitting than I'm accustomed to.

Yeah they are awesome !

It's insanely impossible to hope for half off from a start price of $1100, but I would double my order at a $550 price right now.  A couple weeks of lost time from now and it will not be worth even that much to me.

MarkAZ is selling a bunch v1 for 1.9 shipped. Only a few left. I think he moved 50+ units, I picked up 4 of them.

Yeah he doesn't ship to Canada tho Sad

That's the best option/price for now but still 700$ US.

If you pickup shipping, he can ship to me in NY and I'll reship them to you. I just sent a s5 I sold to Quebec and it was 40USD for UPS standard. My UPS account has a 12% discount. Just putting an option out there for ya.

Thanks ! This is appreciated ! i will think about it Smiley (I need to hurry yes Tongue)

Phil has done the same thing for me for this group by. It is around 40$ us per unit since he's close to you.

Yeah he is Near Albany so he is at least 150 miles closer to you then me.

I am also tempted to get one. 700 is a lot lower then 875

32709  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 7 to Feb 19? picks closed setting up. on: February 09, 2016, 05:19:35 PM
Yea it does suck sometimes to be the one to bear the bad news.. At first it wasnt such a big deal.. price was keep up with diff.. actually leading the charge.. But now it seems to have stagnated a bit.. Didnt drop like i thought but we not out of the woods yet on that.. Im sure we will see some up action closer to halving just not sure when that will be.. I thought we was going to be alright for abit there but now we have hit a new 8 hour high of over 1.4 peta.. not sure exact as the graph is cut off again.. (climbing to fast i guess Undecided

ive officially shut down most of my gear.. I put my s4's on my own solo pool just for shits and giggles to see if i can hit anything .. Its been about 6 months now since they hit one.. hoping they hit one sooner than later!  Im also solo mining eth on my hd7970.. that is very profitable atm if you dont know. My 18 mh/s rakes in with 180 watts power use .. 77.38$ per month gross.

Best Regards
d57heinz

If it makes you feel better you are not being the bearer of bad news for most.  I think it's already sit in.   I had to condense my miners as price I was not making as much on previous gen as I wanted.  So.... not fun but I'm in process of doing it.

Hopefully we see the trend of double digit go down on difficulty changes.  But it's hard to speculate on it.  And price.... I just want over 400 right now and I would be happy to see a move up.   But it's been a slow ride.

well I have A free power s-7  and 4 avalon6s at 9.7 cents until may 1

so I am hashing 17th at 4000 watts which is 300 usd a month.

my gear stops profit at may 1 when power price goes up.

I need coins to rise hard before may 1.

If they don't I turn off all the avalon6's and mine the free power s-7

32710  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Re round three of Avalon group buy. interest page. on: February 09, 2016, 04:30:28 PM
So, are we go or no go?

i think we do not have enough orders to buy . i am going to cancel this.

Not so how what to say:

I notice in the screenshots that some of you are running different software than what shipped from BlockC (header says 15.05 instead of r43076).  My rev2 came with 20151111 and I see I can get up to 20160125 now.  I generally follow the "if it isn't broken then don't fix it" rule, so have you found any advantages to updating (hash rate, temps, options)?  Disadvantages?

I am running all four on a rasp pi 2

using the rasp pi 2  mini card from here

32711  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Feb 7 to Feb 19? picks closed setting up. on: February 09, 2016, 01:13:14 PM
Hate to say this but Holiday or not this one is looking pretty horrid. It is of course too early to see a reliable trend as we have only had one full Day but...

We came into the period with a surplus after the correction of about +10%, so that was always going to be the minimum increase. The run rate of all the Blocks so far this period is +16% and increasing. The run rate half way through Today is twice that at +32%, so still plenty of scope for variance but the signs are that more hash has already been added and plenty of time to add more. We will know more by the end of the Day.

Rich

when 148 blocks is the best day in 19 days It means we spanned a Diff jump at least one.

In this case 2 Jumps

Jan 21 -133 blocks ----Jan26--5.89%-------------- Feb--7 -- 20.06%--------------- every day over 148 until Feb 8

I am not sure we have had A streak this bad since I started these threads in summer of 2014.

I was mocked alot for calling for a slow down back then.

It was a good call, but now I see what d57heinz sees in terms of diff growth lots of it.

It could be a bad thing or maybe it means coins will need to catch up.

bitmaintech is hoarding coins

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1355216.msg13795222#msg13795222

they started holding coin from gear  sales right when  diff went up back in Nov.  and we were wondering about the diff see saw moves.

To me it looks like they are making a move here and are pushing out tons of gear to self mine.  I think they feel it is their best move.  Since the ½ ing is coming.

I really wish was wrong. but the pattern of coin withdrawals exactly matches when hash rate started going up and down a lot.

I used to say it was Chinese ghost cities sparing power on and off. Half kidding but hoping for some info to leak.

based on bitmaintech deciding hoard coins and basically not do much for customers they probably are the main cause of this growth.

If they get free power and dirt cheap gear I think they will grow this more.
32712  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: People so upset about the difficulty they are SMASHING their miners to pieces on: February 09, 2016, 01:04:10 PM
Honestly, i think it was junk non-working gear or he was trolling or needed to post something (psycho problems), i would have donated it or tried to sell it first if it was working gear.

if it all worked that was maybe 300 $ bucks worth of gear .

if it is 300 usd worth of gear he should have purchased BTC with it.  then HLOD it
32713  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Noctua Fans? on: February 09, 2016, 01:02:14 PM
i have tried to put 2 scytre ultra kaze on a s-7 and power them from a fan controller but the miner does not start. i think that is a fail safe mechanism...any ideas on how i can bypass this issue?

plug in a 4 pin pwm fan to the controller and lay it on top of the miner.

32717  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin mining proof-of-work over the last 6 years as we move to 1 exahash/s on: February 09, 2016, 04:29:27 AM
1 exahash today means nothing tomorrow if everyone suddenly realizes what fools they are for dumping so much money into bitcoin mining, and shut off their miners tomorrow.

See that word if I bolded. your if above and my if below

I predict that on Valentines day feb 14th if every one read this post the BTC price will rise to 2000 usd in under 1 day and slowly  fall back down to 1500 over the next 24 days.

So which if will prove true?

Most likely neither one.

32718  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Re round three of Avalon group buy. interest page. on: February 09, 2016, 04:01:25 AM
good I also order this set of fans

they are much better then the rev 2 fans.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YOC80IO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Phil I got one of those at home and they were for an S4. (I got one spare and changed one broken fan).

But they were loud. I will give a try ! Smiley

thanks

EDIT: i have to double check the part number. might not be the same.

Nice I got the exact same model, I will try it.

set the fan speed at 40 to 50

The trick is to get a stable temp under 70c it will never ramp up so it is okay loud.

Thanks !
I am pretty happy with fan at 48

That would be great if you can help me, yes I can wait

oh and I am in the Uk

okay jump to this thread we have a few uk guys and a few rasp pi guys using hubs

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1322017.0

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1173963.0

try corrected links

the mining gear is not yours but these threads have hub info and rasp pi info scattered in them.

Rasp pi are tricky need the right hubs for a power source and to run.

@thedreamer,

HiYa...how goes it? Haven't chatted to you in a bit.

You, of all people should know...it actually IS just a smidge smaller (I've done the numbers). Here's the thing tho, when I add in the electric cost to mine, that 'tiny' bit makes the difference on break even (or for me, I lose a little, as a hobby) & giving up.

Or...maybe it's all the kids and noobs that got the new shit for Christmas, who think us little miners have nothing to contribute towards helping find the next block. They all want more power!! Sounds like a Tim Allen show. Sorry for the reference, if you don't understand that. I try to keep up with the tech as soon as I can afford. It is outa reach anymore.

Go BIG...or Go home!! That's where I'll be.

CapnBDL
   Cool

edit; And to be totally clear....it is NOT this pool. I would NOT mine anywhere but here. kano.is is an A-number-1 pool, 5 star. At least not until I have to try my hand at solo. (sounds kinky)    Grin

edit 2; Further, I never referenced the payout. It was a statement concerning needing about 52ph. Comon...not looking to fight or argue here. Just sayin' what I read into it. May not be anyone elses opinion, just mine. Peace?

Okay I don't mean to make you annoyed.

I am of the opinion 5 to 7 % of the network is better then 2%.

When I first mentioned a ph number I mentioned 40 ph.  which at the time was about 5% of the network.

We have entered an  insane growth phase.  Which is why you are hurting.

This is the problem    we grew 110%   under 90 days

like it or not the pool needs to grow bro.

If I recall you are in FL so you have a hard time growing hashpower

I am in NJ it is a hassle for me.  Every spring my power bill goes from 9.7 cents (heating savings included) to 18 cents. May 1 to Oct 1 I am in trouble to mine.

I sympathize with you why don't you read my posts and see how much I have given away on site.

You could enter my free contest on difficulty prediction cost you 0 to enter.  you have about a 1 in 100 chance to win .1 btc

I give away in more then one promo> frankly I am happy if the pool shrinks to 10ph as long as the network shrinks to  200ph
